Zhou Tong was framed by his junior brother and misunderstood by his master and senior sisters. In anger, he left the sect and joined a new faction instead!

At that moment, he opened the door to a brighter world.

A seductive and domineering demoness constantly tried to attack, hoping to make Zhou Tong surrender to her charm.

The second junior sister, unparalleled in swordsmanship, was illiterate but surprisingly skilled at writing love letters.

The third junior sister, a money-lover, willingly entrusted Zhou Tong with her secret stash of gold.

The most captivating of all was his stunning new master. She was actually…

As Zhou Tong’s new sect flourished and grew stronger, his former master and senior sisters wept with regret.

“Dear disciple, I was wrong. Please come back to me. I’m willing to do anything to make it up to you.”

“Yes, junior brother! Let us belong to you!”

Zhou Tong: “I’m a man of great ambition. How could I stoop to such disgrace? Get lost!”

It's bad. I think the Translator is wasting his time on this one...

I have read a lot of junk novels and they can be entertaining to pass time so I intended to read about 50 chapters to see if it was worth wasting time on it, I dropped it halfway there, this story simply fails to even set up a believable setup and characters. Everything from the get go is completly illogical and unbelievable.

I can accept characters acting s*upidly in this kind of story but there is s*upidity and s*upider... more>> than urban faceslapping characters.

Setup: Cultivation world with sects who dislikes demonic cultivators. You know, the stories where characters usually acts righteous and try to preserve their faces/reputation ? Enters the Mc's original master & senior sisters, who litteraly display to the whole world the shameful act of kicking away the genius of their sect for having destroyed the sect treasure (framed).

It's already failing there, why tell everyone that your sect treasure has been destroyed ? Why display the shameful acts of kicking your disciple, usually in this kind of setup you see the elders coughing blood and trying to hide the informations which for me is way more believable.

So MC is originally the sect genius, winner of the last continent tournament, so well known to multiple sects as a genius, well appreciated by a lot of disciples, also very talented in alchemy (even though its said the "villain junior brother" is more talented than him) and even more talented in formation as its said he is even more talented than the sect's seniors/elder in formation (litteraly he set up a formation that he is the only one who knows how), and all that BEFORE he gets reincarnated and gets even more OP.

So this genius of the century guy, gets framed and when an elder asks (publicly as I said) to investigate the matters with some treasure to display the truth and be sure, the MC's original master refuses. Have you ever seen a setup where in a cultivation world a sect doesn't try to protect their (arguably) greatest genius ?

Later its even worse, resume (spoilers) of plot around chapters 15-20:

Spoiler

MC is invited to the direct disciple ceremony of this "villain junior brother" (reminder: after he got kicked out of the sect), he goes there, his Original Master is like "see I gave him what you wanted for years haha". Here, again I failed to comprehend why they add a master/disciple contract broken in chapter 1 if he never was her direct disciple but simply some named disciple apparently...

MC and his new Sister literraly slaps some his old senior sisters in their own sect and no one say anything. Again, I fail to see how this is possible in a cultivation world / sect... Its like going in a gang turf while wearing another gang's color and attacking their members... I was expecting some Elder or Mc's OG master to say something but nope.

Anyway, they try to use MC's old formation that only he can setup to give some swordsmanship comprehension boost to the junior brother (something he did in the past before the story started for his OG Senior sister), the guy is about to die as it turns out the formation is one-time use only. So some slight facesplap ensue, where they must asks MC's help to fix the formation, he refuses, they tries to force him but get scared because of MC's new master reputation (she's feared by the whole continent) and the intervention of a well respected Sect Master from another sect.

So MC could let the guy who he knows is a demonic cultivator dies (which never cross his mind even though apparently being a demonic cultivator is huge bad thing in this continent), or saves him and gets some advantages. He negotiate for one treasure and also for 3 of his older "Senior sister" to kneel and beg him which they originally refuses (Again proving that faces is important in the setup in theory...). He could have asked to use the treasure mentionned in chapter 1 to clean his reputation but never thought about it either, but this part is still believable.

Then after he helps the Villain, MC's OG master wants to force him to give back the treasure she gave him just before. Still in public, in front of all the others sects present. So suddenly, she again throwaway all her faces even though she is supposedly well respected, and forget her fear of MC's new master. Guess what ? Mc's new master arrives and battles his OG master, when she gets tr*shed the Villain is like "let's resolve that by having me duel MC". And no one thinks its nonsense, the guy would have been dead without MC's helps, they can't force him to give back the treasure and now wants to duel him to get it. Ah yes, I'm winning my fight against you to protect something that is rightfully mine from our trade, but let me accept your fight proposal to have our children fights and decides the outcome... Seems logical, can't argue.

Anyway the duel is even more nonsense (which gets interrupted by an unrelated character the stroll in and his like "oh let me duel you both before lol"), that ends up in Villain losing and saying "oh its just a sword fight, its not a real fight", ah yes, fighting with swords in a cultivator world is not a real fight, my bad I forgot that's not like 90% of cultivators uses swords and you just had a boost to your swordmanship for this reason.

And then MC's gets back to his own sect, it's revealed than while the duels were ongoing, MC's OG master sent some elder to steal the treasury of his new sect, and his new master stole the old sect treasury.

So, I'm to assume, that those guys who fear MC's new master because of her strength (which she again displayed just before), went and stole her sect treasury, and that they were able to do it easily, where are the sect's protective formations overpresent in this kind of stories ? (It goes both way, how was his new master able to steal the treasury from his old sect without no one detecting it, same thing, no formations ? No Protectors ?)

[collapse]

Anyway, don't waste your time on this one. <<less

Sigh... I really did try my best to enjoy this web novel, but I couldn’t. I couldn’t even let myself read more chapters to make a more comprehensive review. That is how terrible this novel is.

To start, the “banished” premise usually requires some brain dead characters, but this novel really takes it to the next level. The master is one of the most awkward characters solely because of how immature she acts. Her entire personality is so jarring, and she makes the throw-away bad guys look like saints and understandable... more>> people compared to her. Not only that, but her personality is inconsistent according to the writing.

There’s subliminal references in the narrative supposedly saying “her heart hurts/aches” but 5 lines later she says she strongly detests him, etc, etc. None of it makes sense. Author, if you’re going to make her a forced villain, then at least do that right.

With that, the storytelling is horrible. The scenes feel choppy, and there are WAY TOO MANY CHARACTERS. I’m sorry, but I’m American, and these name are not easy for me to remember. The novel just forces characters down your throat, showcasing the authors inability to introduce memorable characters.

Even as a person who enjoys tr*shy premises or cultivation novels, I can’t stand this. The developments are too forced and extreme to be enjoyable, while the writing is also lackluster. <<less
