Xiao Mo accidentally travelled into a book and became the protagonist’s inner demon.

The system actively introduced: “You need to accompany Chu Jinglan as he grow, and then be killed by him at the right time to prove his Dao. After completing the task, you can get a chance to be reborn and survive in the world of cultivation with a new identity. Isn’t it a good deal!”

Unexpectedly, Xiao Mo closed his eyes and lay down after listening: “Got it, won’t do it, he’ll die if he wants to.”

System:? ? ?

Where did the rebellious host come from? It’s different from what was agreed!

Xiao Mo felt that he was very unlucky. Not only was he forced to travel through time, but he also had to be the inner demon of someone he didn’t like and live with him day and night.

That’s right, Xiao Mo didn’t like Chu Jinglan’s character design.

Because in the original book, Chu Jinglan could have taken the script of Long Aotian, a genius who was abolished and then reborn, stepping on mountains and rivers, and sweeping the world with a sword. However, for the sake of a fickle hearthrob shou, he died without body left.

Thinking it was a career-oriented article, but unexpectedly getting splashed with dog blood, Xiao Mo decisively expressed his disdain. He wanted to be passive, indifferent, and have nothing to do with whatever Chu Jinglan did.

He watched coldly as the youth went from being a proud son of heaven to a cripple, watched coldly as his engagement get annulled and humiliated, watched coldly as he was betrayed and abandoned by his own family, watched coldly —— he couldn’t watch anymore!

“Chu Jinglan, can you tolerate this? Revenge back. If you can’t do it, give me your body, I’ll do it!”

Chu Jinglan, who was also fed up with him, wiped off the blood. Looking at the inner demon that was more anxious than him, his expression was complicated and unpredictable: “…I need the inner demon to help me?”

Xiao Mo: Who wants to help you?

But it was this inner demon who “didn’t care” about the life and death of the protagonist, who accompanied Chu Jinglan to rebuild his cultivation, accompanied him ascended to the peak, and accompanied him through the most difficult moments in his life.

Then when he was at the highest, the inner demon died in his arms.

Xiao Mo lay in Chu Jinglan’s arms and vomited blood, thinking that he would stay far away from him after his rebirth.

After his was reborn, before he could hide, Chu Jinglan, who had become an immortal lord, suddenly appeared in front of him.

“Xiao Mo,” Chu Xianzun’s eyes were calm but there’s hint of madness within, “Where do you want to leave me this time?”

Xiao Mo: !

Wait, I have changed my identity, how did you recognize me? ?

It's so perfect! 😭 I wish every novel wrote romance like this. They usually make people fall in love for no reason and make them completely devoted to each other. Some do it well, but others don't more often than not. The romance in this book made my numb heart flutter ❤️

Thank you for giving me this experience!

It's so fun. I ended up binging the mtl version (if anyone has access to the extra chapters, pls let me know).

Love the dynamics with the MC and ML, who both have a lot of character/personality. I also appreciate the author making them act their age when they start the story off as both being teens (it's also very funny seeing sm1 who is supposed to become the standard cold/stoic ML in his pre-development stage where he's still trying to learn how to be stoic lol).

I'd say the highlight of... more>> the story is the relationship b/t the MC/ML. The overarching plot/mystery regarding the system isn't extremely interesting to me but it's also doesn't get the biggest focus beyond motivating the MC to act or placing MC in his setting (tbh, even the way it gets to its resolution kind of feels like the author wasn't that interested in this part either). The side characters are cute/enjoyable, but don't get too much highlight and neither do the villains, tho the fight scenes can be interesting.

Definitely rec for ppl who love a good relationship-focused story set in a fairly typical xanxia setting. <<less

I'm actually a bit miffed.

Until chapter 100 the novel is really good, nice plot, nice character development of the two. The side characters are cute, even if they don't really evolve.

I just really think the ending could have been handled better.

The time skip of 300 years is totally unnecessary.

It's not even explained well: "Oh no host, something went wrong."

The whole point of this novel and the friendship/love of the two main characters is that Xiao Mo roots for Chu Jinglan to live a happy and sucessful life after going through so much. Those 300 years felt like unneeded suffering, just to make the gong more yandere. Even if Xiao Mo unties those knots in his heart shortly after, why did the author think that this is a good idea? Maybe she couldn't come up with a good way to finish off the big boss and made it as anticlimatic as possible, by saying Chu Jinglan already finished all the work while Xiao Mo was forced to skip 300 years. This could have been a really solid novel with enemies to lovers who worked together and got a well deserved happy ending. It did not need so much extra pain in between. A timeskip that was shorter would have been totally fine.

Sweet story filled with bits of bitterness. It is very well written and doesn't feel too streched. Author conveys feelings very naturaly and main couple's feelings feel real and not appear out of thin air. Definite reccomend!

Well let me tell you that this novel is one of the best farming novels you will ever read in your life.

The main characters are equal and there is no weak and sensitive bottom or possessive yandere top who falls in love with the bottom at the first show of kindness.

Both of their feelings develop harmoniously as the plot progresses and the interaction between them is very sweet.

... more>> The bad guys were sometimes really annoying but that's the way it should be.

The side characters were great some of the characters I really liked

I didn't really get bored in this novel the plot is going well not fast not slow with a nice slow romance that makes you say (oh yeah this is what love should be)

In short, this is a great story in all aspects with appropriate anxiety and surprises as the plot progresses. <<less

Loved this when I read it in Chinese MTL, happy there's a translation now. It's the kinda of story I've been looking for where the MC accompanies the ML from when he falls down from his genius status and then slowly makes his comeback as a Long Aotian. Emotional plot is very comfortable for me in terms of pacing and there's no s*upid misunderstandings that lead to dog blood plots. However, there is a plot point later on that did make me cry, but because it's a plot point it... more>> developed the relationship between the MC and ML.
Spoiler

If I recall correctly the MC finished his task and had to kill himself using the ML's body because his identity as the ML's heart demon would only hinder the ML and him from having his own body. The ML was forced to fall asleep when MC did that so he only knew that MC was gone after waking up but didn't know he killed him :' (and went crazy looking for him. When he came back hundreds of years passed even though it was less than an hour (?) of MC trying to buy everything he can from the system before he returns in a new body and that's what made the ML paranoid when reuniting with MC. But he gets healed by MC so it's all good

I'm wondering why is there a review about farming 😅 yet this is cultivation novel and it has likes.

Anw, this is a Good read! Unlike most detailed cultivation novels with long chapters, this one keeps things focused - MC's helping the ML until he overcomes his tribulation.

Not perfect, but I enjoyed their journey. I also think it is not rushed as the impt scenes are written in a concise manner (but not rushed).

Didn't expect that this is the MC's ... more>>
