As a renowned fierce god in the infinite flow world, Ye Jia deliberately hid his strength after clearing it and found an idle job in the Logistics Department of the Paranormal Investigation and Management Bureau.

He originally thought that he would be able to return to his salted fish life and live comfortably.

But what Ye Jia didn’t expect was……

One day, he opened the fridge and was met with an evil spirit’s vicious head, “Boss, boss. Did you miss me…..”

Ye Jia: “………”

He slammed the door shut and fell into deep thought.

Wasn’t there something wrong with this world?

The TV behind him was broadcasting news:

Recently there has been a surge in paranormal events and the number of missing persons has sharply increased. It is currently under investigation…..

*

With the infinite flow escape game unexpectedly crashing, countless demons and ghosts trapped in it were released, bringing disaster to the world.

Only Ye Jia who cleared the game knew the truth.

All of these……..were old acquaintances………

Ye Jia: My life is too difficult.

#I clearly just want to be an ordinary corporate s*ave#

Finally, one day, he saw an unexpected monster.

After two seconds of silence, Ye Jia greeted dryly: “…….You came out too. What a coincidence.”

The man before him smiled and slowly approached him, “My boyfriend ran away from home. Of course, I should come out to catch him and bring him back.”

Ye Jia: “……..”

Who would have thought that, along with the global sensation of ghost doors opening in the mortal world, there was also…..

His peach blossom debt.

It can’t be, sir. This is also okay?

It's a solid story that despite it's fun-sounding summary, is a bit more plot heavy than expected. Despite what the summary might lead to believe, it's actually more of a paranormal cop, mystery-solving, conspiracy type deal as Ye Jia tries to find out why his past and the instance world is starting to leak over into reality. Plot-wise, the story was solid and the plot twists really did surprise me and had a pretty satisfying answer in the end as to why these events are happening.

Characterization wise Ye Jia is... more>> wonderfully competent and lives up to his ex-#1 Player status, but that doesn't stop him from having or causing moments of absolute hilarity such as his desperate attempts at keeping his past secret from his coworkers or the fact that he caused a huge grudge with another powerful player by stepping on his bug out of sheer accident. As for the ML, do take caution that he's more along the lines of the traditional type of yandere, he's absolutely devoted to Ye Jia, but he's also willing to and has wanted to kill MC if it means having him to himself. It didn't bother me because ML is an actual humanoid boss monster from the game and his past with Ye Jia is very Complicated™, so his desire to kill and monopolize made sense to me. Also, ML has a powerful demon Bone Fish pet that is absolute adorable and hilarious. It even sells meng!!!!

I do have my gripes with this story, as I do think the pacing is a bit too fast at times and the story could have been padded out more. The author literally backtracks in one chapter by having MC use his powers and then give an excuse to his coworkers to hide his identity, only for the next chapter to have him reveal his identity to his coworkers again permanently and renders the previous chapter both useless and a bit of a waste. Most of the plot focuses on the present happenings of the real world, so the backstories for characters were a bit lacking even though it would have been really interesting to see. Sometimes characters are dragged out of nowhere for plot and hand waved with "they're from the instance world". Everyone basically stays the same, so character development is nil (though I think ML has a small amount?), which didn't bother me but I do think should be pointed out.

Overall, it's a lot more plot-heavy than I had expected when going in but I had no regrets reading. The mystery was interesting, and the comedy didn't detract from the plot progression at all. Though there are somethings I wish I could have read about such as MC's time during the instance world or actually seeing the drama between MC and ML rather than just vague illusions to it, I highly recommend you giving this a shot if you're in the mood for a mystery story! <<less

This author is a gem of bloody and beautiful.

Sangwo is the type that will shed first blood in first three chapters. Also read their 'Born to rebel' and 'After the abyss dragon awakens' (not official tl). I find their style a bomb. To hook you up, I'll tell you about how in the 'Born to rebel' in one of the worlds MC was an actual siren and tore off a throat of the one who captured him. How about a hook like that? Have you ever encountered similar MCs? I... more>> bet not~ :D

They connect the ability of writing really beautifully and immersing you into their story, yet they keep upbeat my love for bloody stories. MAIN APPEAL is that their works are non-mainstream. I've seen countless of works that are about Infinite Flow that are the same over and over again, like one guy who is so amazing and isn't scared of ghosts at all and everyone is in awe about him. But Sangwo will show you, who cares about what happened in the game, let's see what will happen after the game. And it's basically the premise of this story.

The style of Sangwo is basically to write a chain of small events connecting to the background main storyline that slowly emrges and takes shape with links slowly getting connected and new things appearing. Although some things are easy to guess, yet it doesn't mean that reading will become too obvious. The novel is not short and it's not long, just right to keep things interesting before the finale.

Also their main thing is a slow burn. No characters are falling in love the next second they see each other. Sometimes something will be between MC and ML before they slowly warm up, but most likely MLs are first to be in love (same with this novel and others) and they basically boil MCs in a warm water. Although MLs of Sangwo are a bit of a paranoid type, yet it's not the overbearing scum that will hurt MCs, they are ready to dig hearts and lungs to be together with their beloved person, sacrifice anything for them, so their love is pretty deep.

All in all it's a decent author with their own style, which I'm really glad I found on a random search.

My most beloved after all are Born to rebel and the Dragon. First is an atypical quick transmigration with such a beautifully bloody MC and such a wonderful slow burn immersed in different types of absolutely crazy worlds. The second is about the awakened dragon, which can be described as how to tame a dragon dark version :'D (you'll be laughing, I came here just to check if someone picked up their works, while I'm posting a spoiler thread about the Dragon novel). <<less

The MC and the Ml's relationship are fun. Comment to the other review, ... more>>
Spoiler

the past ML wanted to kill MC so he'll become a ghost like him and they could become together. Unfortunately for him, MC got away. Years later the current ML doesn't think of that anymore, instead kills others if even one drop of blood comes out from MC's skin, and protects MC by pretending to 'kill' him.

[collapse]

ML's 2 forms are def hilarious, him being a seme yet cross-dressing and pretending to be cute and pitiful when he has the scary aura of death. <<less

The first part it's more like a "hide and seek" between MC and ML + MC trying to keep his ordinary salted fish life lol (first 20 chapter I think ?). After that is the full plot part.

MC character is what I HOPE came from ex-no.1 player will be. Trying to live an ordinary life but when troubles comes to him, he has no hesitation executing his judgement and he's very rational as shown by the thing he do (MC don't get "nefred" just because he's a shou +... more>> this is "show don't tell" kind of characterization, so it's a plus from me). This also works good on his relationship with the yandere ML, if ML tried to act something "funny" to MC, he will not hesitate to throw him out or fight if must (especially as MC is slightly stronger than ML).
Spoiler

Which is why I was so shocked when MC is the one that actually took the initiative when they do it the first time. Also ML is no s*x god as I said before, he's in the game since he's just a child, and has to be taught by MC lol

[collapse]

ML's yandere-ness is pretty well written and truthfully caught me by surprise.
Spoiler

he has "soften up" just because MC had killed him back then, if not I think he will be much worse. Not because MC said so/wife sl*ve" reason here

[collapse]

I thought his money comes from
Spoiler

his business ability that he has somehow even though he spend most of life in the game (that most bl novel ML has) or it came from his ability or something, but nope, it actually has something to do with the plot twist.

[collapse]

Other ex-players are also decently written, for example they tried their best to save as many life as possible, but if they fail, no self blame nor any after thought about the lost life. But yeah only MC and ML has backstory.

What I like with this novel is the
Spoiler

realistic amount of victims that died in this novel. Usually with this type of story they gonna pull a wacky ending where all the problem solved but with the powers gone, somehow all the victims came back to life, or some other BS.

[collapse]

BUT, here's the (only) problem that this novel got. I think the writing is to objective ? / shallow in the emotional part.
Spoiler

THERE'S AT LEAST 100.000 dead people here but nope, not showing how the citizen lived when disaster strike in that underground bunker, how they feel when the supernatural stuffs got exposed in 30-40 ish chapter, or the revitalization of the disaster striken cities where there's literaly mountains of corpses lying around

[collapse]

Spoiler

And please tell us if all of the ex-players are technically immortals now or their young looks does not influence their actual age

[collapse]

I really like this kind of writing IF it's just for characterization, but sighhh...., still gonna give it 5 stars tho.
Spoiler

Ah yes, if you are wondering, at the end of the story, ML is still a ghost, no magically turned into a human or something like that, and MC is still an immortal? human, just can't laze around anymore, he has to clean up all of those things

i really like this. It's quite interesting and very plot oriented, which was a fantastic change from the usual plot-as-a-background-for-romance style of most BL being translated. In fact, it was so plot heavy that I am certain I wasn't able to understand everything with mtl. There are a few plot/ character flaws and the ending felt rushed so my final rating was 4.5, which I rounded up here.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this properly translated; I'll give it a finale rating once its finished.

This novel is finally getting translated! I finished the raws. The novel itself is quite centered around the plot, though there is also romance. Maybe a ratio of 7:4?

The plot is quite splendid with some fresh parts, and there is that horror-ish atmosphere along with some comedic parts (I don't think it's part of the comedy genre though?). The characters aren't written badly, the villain has actual goals to do besides being annoying to the MC (like in some novels). I personally think it's a bit lacking with the details,... more>> it's not missing a lot of details, but I'd think some more explanations on the settings, the romance and the background or the infinite flow game would have made it better. There are some minor things, like a weirdly fast ending (not rushed, just... its at a weirdly fast pace compared with the chapters before) but besides these it's quite nice to read.

There is one thing I'd like to mention. The ML. I am personally not a fan of obsessive characters. Yandere MLs, obsessive MLs, possessive MLs, usually when I see these type of characters, I drop the novel after reading ten or something chapters to see if I can stand them. And in most cases, I can't. But in this novel, the author wrote him quite well. He has all the yandere qualities and he's walking on the line of being practically obsessive for the MC BUT he's not crossing the line. My language skills suck so I can't exactly express to you what I want to say, but I like this ML, even with the obsessive qualities he has.

Anyways, I'd definitely recommend this book. Its quite nice to read, and I enjoyed this novel a lot. <<less

The premise is interesting but the execution fall as flat. The MC and ML are too OP, so the mystery part become not mysterious, the action part become boring, the comedy not funny, the plot is not engaging enough, and the ending feel empty.

To my disappointment, the romance is also meh.
Sorry to say, I detest the ML a bit. I'm fine with yandere ML but they had to respect the MC, which not happen in this novel. From start, the ML single handedly decide something so important to MC... more>> which significantly change MC's life, then he acts wronged and coquettish as if he's the victim from MC gege's anger. Manipulating MC's soft heartedness, become pushy not respecting MC's personal space and rejection at all. And it's also not helping when MC is never really shows his consent.

Extra star for the high-quality translation <3 <<less

How do I say this.

The writing isn't bad. It just isn't good.

There are several plot points that could have had amazing twists, but the actual reveal of why so and so happened didn't, well, live up to the anticipation, and ended up falling flat and lackluster. I find myself skimming paragraphs upon paragraphs to reach the parts I want to see because the rest sometimes just weren't worth taking in, and yet even the parts I want to see ended up erm...

For now I just plan on reading up to... more>> when the main CP meet in person and then decide whether to drop or not.

Kudos to the translator for a great translation though. <<less

What I expected: comedic story about an OP MC who just wants a break after clearing an infinite flow game but is being pursued by ML in the real world

What I got: conspiracies, horror, drama, some actual scary parts, and shounen-like fight scenes

The beginning of the novel is set up as lighthearted, with the MC just wanting to be a salted fish; however, mysterious occurrences later in the novel force him to take action and fight like he had in the game.

The romance between MC and ML (very much a... more>> yandere) felt a little slow in my opinion, and I couldn't really understand why ML fell for MC, or even vice-versa. If you're looking for romance, this might not be the novel for you, but if you're looking for action and mystery with a hint of romance, this is for you!

It was especially interesting when

Spoiler

they were trying to figure out Mother's plans. Also when MC and ML were pretending to be loyal to her.

KK's translations, as always, are a 10/10. :) <<less

4.5 stars

I liked the concept and the characters. The side characters are interesting as well though they don't have significant part in the plot. Though I really liked the small black hand (funny) and the blood gu fish. The other players are interesting characters as well and there is an over-arching plot with 1 main bad guy that links the whole story together.
Spoiler

Basically just dealing with the main big bad guy coming from the game world into the real world. Though there is a bit of mystery element involved with mini-bosses.

[collapse]
This is a MC-centric story that focuses on MC's past (and how it entangles him with ML because that is very complicated) and it's not a long story.

Minus 0.5 stars due to a difference in expectation because for all the interest in the plot, there is very minor romance. Almost none until the last 15 chapters. In fact,
Spoiler

while ML obviously is overly-obsessed with MC, I can't really tell (or am convinced) why MC even chooses to be with ML in the end? At the very least, MC is very clear of everything ML has done so he willingly gets together with ML at the end but for 80% of the book, MC is very against ML. I think I just prefer books where the leads mutually like each other sooner.

[collapse]

So it's a good read for plot but not for romance.

Oh wow. That was FANTASTIC. The characters, plot, and flow are just perfect. I can't put into words how much I enjoyed reading this. It has action, horror, comedy, romance! It even have special chapters at the end which didn't ruin the story! And there's also an AU!!! An official AU!!!

MC and ML are both likeable and their personality and backgrounds are fleshed out. I really liked being with the MC and watching him change from disappearing at exactly 5PM to rendering overtime lol. Even the secondary characters are so... more>> my cup of tea, even the ghosts around our MC and ML (especially the fish 🖤) are adorable! No throwaway characters here, everyone filled out a role.

Spoiler

The only part I got frustrated was at the end where MC and ML both planned to be martyrs and acted like those movie couples who has the time to kiss when the bombs are already going off in the middle of the fight. And MC being foolishly tricked and eaten, that part was so disappointing, I wanted to skip to the end instead but fortunately I didn't. That's the only part of the book I wasn't satisfied with but everything else is *chef's kiss*

[collapse]

I actually enjoyed this so much, I'm gonna look up the author and read some of their other works.

Edit: Author is awesome and I already finished half of their works. <<less

Hmm, I feel like what stood out to me the most was the excellent translation.

The story had a lot of potential, but I feel like maybe I've read other really excellent infinite flow stories, but the yandere ML and the relationship with the MC wasn't that great?

Overall, I feel like the story was too romance-focused and the mysteries of the MC's past or just in general, the pacing, or worldbuilding or something, wasn't as intriguing or the type of page-turner I expected.

The author had some great ideas for the concept,... more>> but I think other stories like [I'm Just an Ordinary Person] or even [Being an Extra Actor in an Escape Game] executed much better worldbuilding.

I do recommend the above (especially the 2nd novel, SUCH A GEM). <<less

This was a very interesting story, but towards the middle it just became Too Much and I got bored of the back and forth and lack of progress. I’m not a huge fan of misunderstanding tropes to begin with so I was pretty much trying to rush it along. The plot of ghost invading was good and I found the overall theme of this novel to be much more interesting than most infinite flow types.

I did however, wish the ML and MC got together in a more serious way. Rather,... more>> the MC never directly expressed his feelings, he’ll most of the time it barely seemed like he really liked the ML. ahh this is so good. MC is a capable bump who just want to live a quiet life but of course ML (and all the ghosts he pissed off before) had different plan for him.

The plot in this one is thick, like many other review has pointed out. It's like a salad dish where romance, gore, action, comedy all use top ingredients and they got mixed very nicely together. If anything I really wonders why it hadn't gotten much attention until recently. This one really has the quality of a... more>> top horror BL novel <<less

Premise is awesome. You read a lot of infinite flow horror novels, but rarely do you find one that sets after the main events. It's thrilling, humorous, & has my favorite—a psycho, obsessive male lead.

Execution is nice. I think it was riveting to some degree, but I got distracted a lot throughout the novel & it's not really a long read either. It could just be me, so take that with a grain of salt. Romance was what I expected. A lot of greed & obsession themes... but then... more>> again male lead's a fierce ghost king! There's a good blend of mystery, action, & stolen kisses. It's a refreshing read if you want something out of the ordinary in the shelf of horror infinite flows. I wouldn't personally pick up to reread though.

Props to TL because translations were phenomenal as always <<less

It deserves to be so high ranking.

Though I will say that putting so much background story in restrospectively is a bit much. Flashbacks tend to get bothersome when 13 years of literally all the background info is being told. Obviously the alternative would be to write it all in present tense though, and that's also a lot of story to go through just to get to the part of the story the author actually wanted to write, So I cant really blame them.

But still, kinda bummed. I would have preferred... more>> to read the struggles of our MC and all of this world building / character building in a more in-depth way, not just through vague flashbacks.

Thats just the one thing that I wish was different though, the story itself is actually really good - but If youre not too big a fan of finding out where MCs relationships, powers, personality, and history come from through flashbacks then youre gonna suffer a bit. <<less

This novel has been sitting on my shelf for a while now -by that I mean ever since the first chap dropped lol- and I decided to do sum spring cleaning today and got my feet into this. So let's start.

First things first, not even ghosts can convince me to pick this up again. Holy lord was I bored. I barely managed to hold on till ch35 and that was to leave a review here. My sense of duty leaves me in tears.

Nothing is happening. Growing chapter count may decieve... more>> you into thinking it is, that maybe the next chap may show sth exciting, but no dear. I had to double check if there was "slice of life" tag. I will sum up what happened till this point in a short skit.

*sh*t hits the fan*

Mc: How troublesome whatever I will check it out

Ghost causing a scene: Mm delicious smelling human

Mc: *reveals identity* Ooh old friend I see

Ghost: Nooo not the Ace mom pick me up

Then the ghost dies but not wholy, a part escapes then it's dealt by either ML or whatever.

Fights could have been part of the fun but MC is too f*cking OP they psuedo-end in one move. Other characters never really matter because they would be already passed out so MC can act as he wants. Their personalities aren't really impostant too because MC doesn't care.

ML is just there and obsessed and evil and... Whatever dude ok. All he does is stare at MC obsessively, chant "mine mine mine-" while no one is looking, shock his subordinates at how "kind" he is to the disguised MC. Totaly and utterly boring man.

I swear it is always hit or miss with this posessive MLs here. Either totally entertaining deep charas or this block of woods that does nothing just breather MC but DOES NOTHING ABOUT HIM EITHER AUUU 🐺🐺-

I kinda got carried away but my point is crystal clear: boring. From MC to plot to the f*cking writing style, all of it. Comedic undertones must have had a car crash on their way here cause boy where??

Don't hate me too much if I dissed your fav novel of all time here lolol it is what it is.

Tl is superb tho gotta give them that. <<less

First things first, I love the gore. It's more descriptive than the other novels I have read (if anyone has good gore-y danmei novel recs pls let me know) and I really enjoyed reading it over lunchtime haha. The world-building is good, but the execution of the plot and especially the final battle is just... eh. It drags on for too long with too many plot twists with no backing and I by the end I was too exhausted to focus. So that loses one star.

The other star lost is... more>> on the romance. There... is none. I was already skeptical about the yandere part (and clearly I still dislike it, so take my opinion on this with a grain of salt) but it was tiring watching the ML constantly control MC's life, when it's explicitly made clear the MC does not want the ML to interfere. Even the end when the MC and ML finally "get together" it's just.... weird. MC does not seem in love with the ML at all.

But nonetheless, the gore is, as I said multiple times already, great and I would still recommend this if you like gore.

Translations are stunning (It's KKtranslates anyways they always have amazing translations) as always and kudos to the translator!!! <<less

Here to review as I don't understand why it's so hyped up. The author usually have interesting premises for his/her novels but often fall flat in its execution. There was nothing compelling and I had to force myself to forge through before giving up. But then, by the time I forgot about the title, I saw the story again, got hooked by the premise again, and got doubly disappointed when I finally realized.

The story is interesting! Although it felt more like it didn't know where to go during the first few encounters, the plot did eventually thicken up a little. I love how it went the way it did, unfolded the way it did. It didn't shy away from what is true and authentic to it's bones/meat of the story. It's definitely not a conventional route, but it stayed true to itself and delivered what it did. And I'm really happy with that!!

I think it would've benefited more spending time building more... more>> of it's foundations; things like the characters (especially the MC's background, environment, story at the beginning), the ranked combat players and some of the elements in the story -- if there was a little more room to feel grounded/immersed in the story, the plot and overall engagement in the novel would've been a lot smoother.

Although I enjoyed how it played out, I also felt like the blend of it is still a little chunky. Kind of like... how you balance serious/heavy stuff with humor/light-hearted elements, some of the blend isn't working out that well. The coffee still has some chunks in it. Some of the elements in the novel felt very rough, kind of like winging it/flying by and just adding things on to see how it turns out. It is (?) kind of a sh*t show, and it did feel (to me) like it did affect the overall enjoyment of the novel -- but I still think I'm very impressed with how it went there (with the plot, in the end) and wrote what it wrote and it was nice. So overall -- even if it's not completely perfect, it's an interesting take on the post-epilogue life of a retired uf story.

Also some parts does feel like there's context missing, as an overall look at the novel. The idea that there's alot that happened already pre-actual novel (in the game system) although you get the skeleton of what happened, the critical idea of emotional baggage or what he carries over with him doesn't feel fully realized in the actual text. It's a minor detail, but it adds more depth to the story and character. The elements of this person (MC) being a retired UF player isn't as pronounced (?) as it could've been. There's a lot of potential to play with here, the idea of using elements of UF in this novel could've been explored and tasted fully. But it's very narrow and focused on it's own separated story, which is --y know, a choice! And it's fine I like this choice, I like this novel as it's own entity.

Overall, could be better but it's still it's own thing. Recommend giving it a read but don't come in with a lot of expectations! I think it's better to be pleasantly surprised and just treat it as it's own novel. If you haven't read Mr. Melancholy Wants to Live a Peaceful Life. You should think of this as a similar vein to that, instead of a UF genre kind of thing! <<less
