I want my own Pei Shaoze too- My favorite thing about this has to be MC (ML?), the gong, the alpha, Pei The Great and Wonderful Shaoze. His personality is the usual serious cold-on-the-outside-warm-on-the-inside ML we usually see in most novels but with all of the doting and none of the low IQ. He is respectful and thoughtful and seeing things from his PoV makes it even more obvious how much care he shows. I am, however, pretty apprehensive on how the ending will be handled, because up to this point there really seems to be no thought put into his original family, the system is very much a non-existence with only the occasional affinity-up notifications to remind us this is that kind of setting, and it feels like it will be magicked into a one-sided happy ending with the original world forgotten. The sister and mom: what happens to them?
- Cheng Xia is okay at best, in my opinion. He is cute, but I don't find him particularly interesting. I can't compare him to ABO genre MCs since I don't really read them, but in comparison to most BL MCs, he is just okay. The story describes him as sunny and not like a usual delicate omega, but he sill feels a bit too innocent and child-like. If you told me he was around 15 years old, I would believe you. 18 doesn't feel that far off, but teenagers grow fast so maybe I'm just being nit-picky. I think the best part about him is the fact that he doesn't really get stuck in limbo on whether he likes Pei Shaoze or not, making him feel a bit more mature as a result and a rather refreshing character. As for his active imagination, depending on the scene I might find it cute... or not.
- The romance is probably the thing that makes me most conflicted. On paper I should like it. On one side it's cute and wholesome, you know, sugar spice and everything things nice- well, maybe not the spice... on the other hand, it just proved to me again that I don't like misunderstandings no matter which way they take the relationship. Just from the way that it's written, it makes everything feel not entirely natural and a bit too fast-paced for me. I like moderate to slow burns and when everybody and their mother (exaggeration) thinks PS likes CX just after a few interactions, I really want to roll my eyes. It doesn't help that the summary reads like the romance takes at least a few acting productions before CX realizes and starts to like PSh, so I was expecting something similar to "Transmigrated Into a Big Boss to Snatch Away the Cannon Fodder",

- The entertainment industry part of the setting isn't lacking in descriptions and I like it. I will say PS feels more like CX's manager than the boy's actual manager, because I can't think of a job he's done that didn't involve paving a path for CX. You wouldn't think he's leading 1/3 of his Tianxuan company, but actually leading the "CX & co". It's another negative point for me since I don't like it when a character's whole focus and life revolves around the love interest.
- The side characters are okay. Not particularly memorable. My favorite is probably the brother, Xiao Yan, even though he's one of those people making the misunderstanding worse.
I think people should give this a try despite everything. It feels unique enough on the genre, with a unique relationship dynamic, that might feel like a breath of fresh air when compared to other BL novels.but instead, we're only at the 2nd job, 1st drama production and CX is already thinking things like "want to mark him", "want to see how he looks when he loses control". Mind you, these are rarer as of now when compared to the cuter thoughts like "want to hug and hold hands", but he's already decided that he likes PS and that PS likes him back and this annoys me to no end. We, the readers, can see how Pei Shaoze treats CX specially and gets jealous when he seems close with Shen Kai, another alpha and co-actor, or has a kiss scene, so technically CX isn't wrong per se, but just because this is on the other side of the spectrum of miscommunication doesn't make it sweet for me. I feel like most things in the story (the overall setting- that is both the system that demands PS to raise affection with CX and the ABO setting with pheromones and stuff, the brother and best friend that assume he likes CX because of a misunderstanding and even CX himself that created an image of a PS that likes him in his mind) feel like things that push PS to fall in love with CX and that the person himself doesn't really have a choice or a way out. The fact that my mind even went to this convoluted conclusion kind of baffles me, because I don't think I've been bothered by similar situations in other stories, but I probably haven't read this combination of situations before. In the end, I think that it's because of the unnaturalness of the misunderstanding than for any other reason. And I will bring this point up again, but I really don't want the author to make PS give up his life in the original world and his family for who knows how long just so he can stay with CX and I really hope it doesn't happen like that.
Like his already thinking about them having kids and he found them names!
