“I don’t love you anymore.”

It had been 10 years since I became an extra in a classic romance novel. Having a very shy and quiet personality, I was suffering from a terrible unrequited love.

Allan Leopold. He was the successor of the kingdom’s top businessman and the best lover candidate of all. The whole kingdom praised Allan’s beauty, and he didn’t even know I existed.

Nevertheless, I couldn’t dare to approach the dazzling man, so I just looked at him. Shining black hair, jewel-like eyes, and a great family were things he had, and things that were too far away from me.

That’s how I became an adult. One day, when I decided to pursue my dream instead of a feverish one-sided love, I fainted and woke up trapped in an unfamiliar bas**ent of an old castle.

“Don’t be angry, Melissa.”

“…..”

“Love me again.”

It didn’t take much time to realize that this was reality.

And that I’ve been kidnapped.

That, too, by the man I had a crush on.

I dont really do bad reviews cuz most of the time I'd just drop the story if it isn't to my liking but I feel like I need to do one for this. Translation is done well 5 stars for that but it was the MC and ML that put me off.

I have never fell in love before so it's not my place to judge much but I find the Melissa's infatuation for Alan just doesn't make sense and kind of dumb. I can't understand how she's acting like he's... more>> the very oxygen that she breathes, thinking of him 24/7 when he never even talk to her. But honestly I don't care much about this what I HATED the most about her was that how she's playing with Tobias.

She's literally using him to forget Alan EXCEPT THAT SHE DOESNT GIVE THE EFFORT WHEN DOING SO. She's just using Tobias to give excuse for herself that she'd forget Alan and continue a happy life with Tobias when she's still hoping for Alan to notice her. It pisses me off because Tobias was sincere with his feelings he deserves better and she just decided that 'hey let me play hot and cold with him till Alan magically proposes to me out of nowhere'. There's also about her stalker issue but you realised after some time the issue wasn't focused on the stalker anymore, it shifted to Alan and that's all that she talked about it kinda got me annoyer. I actually rooted for her and Tobias to end up together, I wanted her to move on and be happy but the moment I realised that she's playing with Tobias I was just like hell nah girl you're done 🤚you're so done 🤚 pack up your things and leave Tobias alone.

And Alan too, the moment he opened his mouth I'm just yea definitely a red flag.🚩🚩 Idc if he has traumatising childhood but to be fair his childhood wasn't that traumatising just a dude with identity conflict or something I forgot what it's called but it was still not an excuse to be a jerk.

It's funny because I actually like the side characters' love story more than the protag like Viola's, it was cute and protect Tobias from dumbass protags. Yea I made this review bcuz I was salty abt how MC treated Tobias cuz he deserves someone better that doesn't play with his feelings🧍‍♀️ <<less

This novel is another case of unnecessary transmigration. The FL in this case has no knowledge of future events or any useful skills, so the only thing the transmigration adds is a sense of disbelief, since it makes FL's personality unrealistic considering her combined age and experience from her two lives. Remove the transmigration and the story would make more sense.

The author also chose to set the story in the world of the classical novel Pride and Prejudice, however the author paid zero attention to historical accuracy of the era... more>> the original is set in and displayed no faithfulness to the original work. The author name dropped a few characters from the original, but got their personalities and manerisms all wrong. This whole Pride and Prejudice thing just adds to the disbelief.

All in all, the story is kinda interesting, but reading it makes me roll my eyes too much. <<less

The translator is doing a great job ✨ the stars are for them lmao, for now the story itself for me is 2 stars 😂

Okay so, I agree with the comment who wrote that her transmigration didn't play much for the story, at least until this point there's no difference between she's transmigrated or not.
Spoiler

the FL doesn't even has any advantage of knowing the setting of the story she's in like there's no point mentioning she's transmigrated. One time she mentioned her past life is when she's sick and scared of dying (even tho she went out when it's snowing hard with little clothes like gurl what do you expect). She's 20 years old but I almost always questioning her decisions ngl

[collapse]

Also if you abhor timid and naive FL this novel isn't for you, about FL

Spoiler

honestly when the female lead describing herself as boring, general looking and oh not so special girl over and over again, it kinda reminds me of Bella from twilight and every MC in wattpad stories lololol. I mean, look at the cover 😭, she's pretty af. I used like her a lil bit but at chapter 22, her actions and words keep disappointing me again and again.

Imagine being a man that was courting a woman, and she positively says she wants to be with you and meet your family. BUT she keeps telling you about her crush on another unattainable man, and writing poems and novels about him (the novel is basically her diary tho, she just changed ML name, super cringe). But hey, it's fine because her crush is totally harmless right. NOT. Istg Tobias deserves better than that.

From what I see, the FL is just as obsessive towards the ML, she's just in denial. Also, her indecisiveness probably will cause harm to other in the future development.

[collapse]

What actually makes me continue reading was, I'M LOOKING FORWARD FOR HER TO MOVE ON AND HER CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT PLEASE 😭😭

I like the writing style but what bothers me right now the most is

Spoiler

how everyone MC met (maids and the one who want MC to end the novel) in ML house brainwashing her, and the ML is manipulate her and tell her She shouldn't be angry because he locked her up and made her feel lonely, sad and suffocated and deprived her of social life, but she should be grateful for him??? I mean?? 🤨

I honestly don't understand why she loves him.

It starts with her having a huge crush on him, with no reasons at all... Just because he looks cool and blah blah blah, well It can be understand if it would be just that, but she's obsessive of him, they didn't even talk and he is the only she can love...

The transmigration it's pointless it doesn't do anything in the story so far...

I hope it gets better:)

Mark me down as intrigued.

I do however agree with the previous review that the transmigration aspect of this novel plays absolutely no part, at least so far. Just another case of the author shoehorning that plot beat in just so they can use that buzz word to attract more readers. Without that, the flow of the story would honestly make more sense, where you have a timid and shy young woman trying to survive in a society where women have certain expectations placed upon them, but when you throw in... more>> the context of her having transmigrated from our more modern society, then things start to feel a bit more questionable.

However, I'm capable of suspending my disbelief to that extent so it's not that bothersome, at least to me personally. I quite enjoy more demure FLs, so I jumped at this one the second I saw it. I'm at a point where I'm basically ignoring the transmigration aspect, at least until it actually starts to take an effect on the plot. As of right now though, it's essentially pointless.

With that being said, it's obvious the author drew inspiration from <Pride and Prejudice> and while it's implied that's the novel she transmigrated into, the author wrote it as <Prejudice and Pride>, so there's honestly a chance it's more an allusion to the classic novel than a full on reference, but I won't deny that many character names are pulled directly from Jane Austen's work. The writing itself is also very familiar, being more flowery and poetic than most web novels which are usually just single line paragraphs; no doubt the translator flexing their chops in the regard (kudos to them).

I'll hold off on the rating for now because we're still very much in the early chapters. Nothing that was described in the summary has happened yet, and considering I was drawn in by the prospect of her getting kidnapped, I feel like I can't adequately judge this novel until we get there and I see it play out. <<less

I did not have a lot to go off of.

This review is very, very biased.

I'm very excited for a bunch of chapters! I'm sad I found this early (should I be?) and am very looking forward to this. And as always, amazing translations! ≪3

I wasn't really sure how to rate this novel to be honest. I really liked the premise and the writing quality is absolutely amazing. The translator was able to translate the many poems in the novel so that they are just as beautiful as in their native language and the sophisticated writing style of the author shines through. However, as well written as it is, the characters made sure that I can not stand this novel. Don't misunderstand, they are well fleshed out and I didn't notice even once when... more>> they went OOC, even the side characters have plots that seem to me to be just as in depth as the MCs. But the MC acts exactly like a middle schooler who is sitting next to her crush. The synopsis mentions that Alan is a stalker, but in my opinion the MC is much more so. She is leading on Toby, concealing things that could easily be explained (and probably should be shared) with lies from her friends, and the amount of times that I cringed from reading her interactions with Alan are far too many for me to have just read 16 chapters. The mother of the MC is overbearing which isn't uncommon in novels but definitely not a detail that was needed I think. It is very accurately set in the classic novel Pride and Prejudice but Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy of that novel are specifically mentioned in the beginning to explain why they will not show up even once which is extremely disappointing as I happen to love it. All in all, the writing is superb and if you can bear with a somewhat dry beginning I think you will enjoy this novel. My hat goes off to the translator to their work, I just personally do not enjoy it at all. <<less

Definitely not an enjoyable read for me.

Spoiler

I'm getting tired of the story and decided to jump into chapter ~60, where the scene on the synopsis emerged. And it makes me annoyed to no end. The way everyone, especially Allan, manipulated her, something like "you like it too, right? You should've thanked me to make you get out of the loud, tiring society." It's even worse when the FL slowly falling for him again, like what he did before was nothing to be criticized.

The ingredients of this story are mystery, thriller, suspense, and of course romance. I'm still at the beginning, so I don't know yet if I like the main characters. But, the author has a wonderful way of writing and the TL captures that. The TL is just absolutely fab.

I like this story a lot. The translator did a great job of conveying the elegant writing of the author and the atmosphere of a calm and collected (and somewhat insecure) female lead, who is rather relatable. The title of course reminds me of Pride and Prejudice and I’d think if you like the BBC 1994 version you’d like this too—abet in a ropan/korean/webnovel sort of way.

This is my first time writing a review on this site and I don't know how to vote but I'm giving it 5 stars. Honestly I think all the hate on this should take a break. I am only at chapter 6 but already so hooked up. Not because the female lead is a perfect badass main character with confidence that is unmatched but because she is relatable. Her feelings are conveyed in such a beautiful manner and the way the translator did the translation makes it seem like I'm... more>> actually reading a medieval English novel. Now about the plot. I haven't reached that part but I feel like people should cut the female lead some slack. I agree that she has low self esteem and acts like a stan but don't we all? What emotions erupt inside you when you gaze upon your favourite idol or anime character? That's what's happening to her. She is like a teenager and I agree that it's weird considering that she is lit 40 if you count her previous life but I don't see anything wrong with it, she has also questioned her feelings multiple times, wondering if it truly is 'love' or just admiration. The writing is what really draws you in and you are bound to do something reckless when in love. Even to the point of making the person you like, jealous. All in all, don't let negative reviews faze you. I've done that a lot and missed out on some great novels. Everyone's point of view is different. Try reading the first few chapters and see if it's to your taste. <<less

first of all, the translation is amazing, so 5 stars for that.

the story itself is okay, but I will say I don't know if I like the characters too much.... more>>
Spoiler

MC hangs on to an unrequited love way too much, and I know it says in the summary that she moves on, but for now it's just so frustrating to read. The ML (?) hasn't shown up too much, so I can't say much other than the times he has shown up he was not interesting at all.

[collapse]

i will keep reading, and hopefully it gets more interesting as the chapters go by, but that's just my thoughts for now <<less

At first, I was liking the flow of the story. Her depiction of having one-sided feelings and a foolish coquetry was a shot of embarrassing memories for me. I would cringe, remembering how I acted like that when I was young. (My crush wasn't exactly a good guy - I learned later). I was also irked with how desperate she was. Like, girl, don't be like me. But, oh well.

HOWEVER, when I knew where the plot was going, I was like naaahhh. Tobias is such a green flag and you... more>> would actually give him up for that guy?! How many lessons do we have to go through to learn not to repeat it? Our brain is there for a purpose.

So, I didn't finish the novel. I don't know what chapter I stopped. I feel really bad for Tobias. <<less
