Best web novel I have ever read. The author actually uses time travel in a way that both makes sense and leaves the story open, so that there is a level of suspense around the MC and his journey. This novel is loosely based in history. Seeing characters that existed in real life pop up was pretty cool. Also, considering that the MC's name isn't mentioned in the real world history, you have no idea where the story will go (whether he alters history changing the future, or somehow fits... more>> into known history).

The MC of this novel isn't a genius, but his decisions made sense and weren't completely irrational or random. I also liked that the MC actually develops as a character, and his personality and decision making processes slowly change as the novel progresses. That being said, at the start of the novel the MC acts like playboy from modern times-trying to have s*x with any beautiful woman he sees. This can be jarring or seem out of place. But, as I just mentioned, one of the best aspects of this novel is the character development, and seeing how the MC grows as a person.

The side characters in this novel are REALLY well done. I loved how they actually had personalities and objectives separate from the MC's (i.e they don't just exist around the MC). Also, most side characters that are introduced play real roles in the story and will repeatedly appear in meaningful ways that actually add to the plot (i.e they don't just end up becoming cheerleaders for the MC later on).

The only draw back in this novel is how much s*xual content there is in it. I know that stuff isn't for everyone, and it is VERY heavily present in this novel. Personally, I didn't mind it. I think the novel treated that subject in a unique manner. There are multiple sections of the plot that are driven by the relationships that the MC and other characters form with one another via marriage and s*x.

I've seen a lot complaints about ntr in this novel. Honestly, I think those complaints are BS. This novel is realistic, and in the real world, MEN AND WOMEN are capable of having multiple partners and loving multiple people. Furthermore, it is ludicrous that a guy can have 8 wives and not expect some of them to leave him, cheat on him, or betray him in some way. I thought that the harem/lover aspect of this novel was very well done. Mainly because the MC's harem really forms from the MC's sense of responsibility, towards the women he sleeps with, rather than love. Basically, any woman he sleeps with he marries. Because in the era of the novel once a woman loses her v**ginity she basically has no future, as no one will want to marry her and her only job prospects are as a maid or a prostitute. In reality, the MC only really seems to love 1 or 2 of the women he marries.

Finally, and most importantly this is the only web novel I have read with a good ending that ties everything together and makes sense. I really can't recommend this novel enough, I know that it isn't for everyone but you should really give it a chance. I mean, they made this into a movie, a tv show, and a graphic novel... it must have some redeeming qualities. <<less

I dont like how the author just disposed his lovers when he felt like they arent much usefull or didnt appear often. At least let them live! Not killing them just making the MC depressed. And also give him time to breath! Not always giving the MC some challenges damn it! I really felt sad for Zao ya. Hahais.

A book full of history, and thats good one.

Really fun ride. Unexpected plot.

Full of scheme.

Naiveless (a bit) MC but sometimes to "open" with relationship. The d@mn thing about the "openess" when MC not giving much a hunch about heroine (NTR-sht), especially The "Wantonesse" Zao Ya and "b*tchy-Wannabe" Ying Ying, lastly "dere" Shan Rou thats really too much.

But whatever, MC got the most super hottest jade heroines of the world. Haha

Dare to binge it!

History is what disappointed me here. But overall, the story is nice. There were so many mature scenes and killings, so defintely those with weak heart should reconsider reading this.

Overall the story is quite nice, it starts off rocky and I have fallen asleep or wanted to drop it after the first few volumes but maybe a little before volume 9, the story becomes interest from there. Mainly because of his "s*xual activities" as well as some unexplained parts or rather, certain things happen without much of a proper explanation. It has a proper conclusion, but felt rushed. I disagreed with the conclusion as well, regarding destiny. The novel itself is more inclined to the historical side, so when... more>> I was expecting him to make guns and futuristic weaponry, I was sorely disappointed.

Reading the history of the 7 warring states and the unification of china is always interesting. It is definitely one that can take a lot of time to finish. Overall I would rate it 3.5-4 out of 5 <<less

Ultimate game of thrones type novel. Only difference is that people speak even less truth in this one

Although this is pretty good at some point it becomes almost solely about parties, discussions and love where no one speaks straight or truth.

If I was MC I would probably bash my head to the wall after talking 1 min to any of the side characters excluding some of his girls. Good in its own genre, but also gets really irritating.

PS. I don’t get how MC can put any trust to Zhao... more>> Ya time and time again. (Spoiler: most sluttiest and two faced bit*h ever) <<less
