What is it that makes a man fall in love with a woman at first sight? Appearance? Aura? Wealth? NO, when campus prince and gaming expert, student Xiao Nai first saw Bei Wei Wei, what made him fall in love was not her extraordinary beauty; but her slim and slender fingers that were flying across the keyboard and her calm and composed manner!!! Embarrassing, no?

At the same time, gaming expert Bei Wei Wei was on the computer methodically commanding a guild war, and won a perfect and glorious victory despite being at a disadvantage; completely unaware of the fact that cupid is nearby.

Soon after basketball player; swimmer; all-around excellent student; and game company president, Xiao Nai, uses tactics both on- and offline to capture this beauty’s heart. Therefore this romance slowly bloomed.

A nice lighthearted read. The in-game interactions were fun and relatable. The story is simple and straightforward which is refreshing compared to the fanfare drama that happens in other romance novels. I am disappointed we didn't get too many interactions between the MC and her friends, but that is the downfall of a romance mostly in a game.

The short stories that come after were great. I liked them a bit more than the main story at points. They were funny and give you a better understanding of the ML.

My biggest... more>> complaint is that the shift from game to real life relationships progressed very quickly.
Spoiler

Especially how they went from essentially strangers to dating in less than a day.

This is my first review, so please take what I say with a healthy dose of salt :)

This novel is a gem in the shoujo/josei genres. I can honestly only think of a couple other shoujo/josei novels about a game like Reign of the Hunters, God's Left Hand/Fish Playing While Trapped in a Secret Room, and Honey Stewed Squid. What makes this novel truly special is how refreshing the female lead and romance are. The female lead is, of course, devastatingly beautiful, but is also very intelligent and highly... more>> respected as a gamer. While reading as she fell in love I wasn't face palming at her idiocy but instead I was smiling nonstop.

I'm not saying that the romance wasn't utterly cliche, because it definitely was. The male lead is the kind of handsome, rich, athletic, intelligent, saves the damsel in distress cliche guy, and the author demonstrated every single one of those traits. People who are sick of reading about perfect gentlemen and sickeningly sweet and perfect romances would probably hate this novel.

You might be confused as to why I called the romance both refreshing and cliche, but it really is. The cliches are there, but the love story was very simple, pure, and lighthearted, without any angst or swarms vicious female cannon fodder. The author doesn't overload you with technical gaming terminology, so the focus is always on the romance whether they're in or out of the game. The characters were presented in a very lovable manner, and the author even gave two characters their own BL side stories which I was super surprised by. If you want to read a lighthearted and funny romance with a unique MMORPG setting, then this is definitely the novel for you. <<less

A good mix between virtual reality and real life, as we follow the character development and romance budding. Although I am not that interested in romance novels, this novel was quite light hearted and fun to read. 100% enjoyment (BL side chapters were a treat^^) the pacing was well done, nothing seemed forced and events flowed soo smoothly (><). Plus there was a lack of stereotypical k-drama like romance (comas, love rivals, sudden family death etc) no forced drama! Gaming action scenes are always great, so even if romance isn't... more>> your thing the character banter is always an up! Overall, good novel, not life changing, but fun to pass the time with. <<less

I never read this yet but I've watch the movie on youtube last year and I love the plot. Though its kinda cliche but most people love cliches. It depended on how the cliche been molded in order for it to be catchy. Indeed, it catch my attention. So maybe, after I finished some of my save reD up list. I'll read this but nonetheless, I recommend this if you want to read some cute school life love story.

The translator of this is the same translator of To be a... more>> virtouos wife. That I've read, recommend it. I love her translation. Although there're mostly some terms in chinese which remains on pinyin form. Its kinda hard to understand at first but gradually you'll be able to get the gist of it later on.

That's all. <<less

It was brilliant romantic, slice of life, comedy. It was funny, unique, romantic and short. It was a good, short, hilarious and light read. If you're looking for a quick and interesting read, this is what you should read. Although there was no fighting and not too much fantasy elements, I still enjoyed it. It was a different read as compared to the other light novels, but was entertaining and enjoyable, none the less.

My favorite story! In my opinion, this is definitely unique in terms of plot. I love how they started in the game then switched in to real life. One complaint that I might have is that after they met in real life, the gaming was reduced till it never appeared again. This is good for a light read as it doesn't really have a lot of drama or twists. It's worth reading for all the cuteness this story has. P.S. This also has a drama (and a movie), with Yang... more>> Yang and Zheng Shuang. Drama is done beautifully!

Spoiler

It was a bit lacking in the ending but loved the extras with their son- though I wanted more---- a bit of drama would be good but this story was well done.

This novel is a breath of fresh air to me. It really made my day. It's a story where you experience butterflies in your stomach, it makes you laugh and gush about the smallest things that occurs between the characters. 😍😍 Love that it was drama free, no plot twist, no psycho ex, etc.

The story portrays the reality of a beautiful romance in which we see in our daily lives. Its different from those too melodramatic novels that feels to much unrealistic. So yeah!! This novel is basically awesome!!! ... more>>

the movie was super duper awesome!! ~^O^~~^O^~~^O^~ the butterflies are over flowing!!!

A Slight Smile is Very Charming is a sweet and slow romance where both the MCs meet online first before they meet in person. Romance - Sweet 💖 This is a love at first sight theme. Only thing is the MC falls in love with her gaming abilities first. Which is kind of new :)

Characters - The MCs are a bit too perfect but its a novel so its not bad. I liked the fact that there was no bad guy or vengeful female ex. It was just normal... more>> people and how they react when they get envious of someone.

Additional Points -
I thought K.O and Muzhahim's story was funny.😃
I loved reading about Shan Shan & FT in the side story. They were adorable. <<less

So in love with this story...i have already watched the drama twice before reading this translated version, and I'm still not satisfied. The gaming world, both the leads, their cute chemistry and undying love for each other, their amazing set of friends, everything is just so great.. Have never loved a chinese fiction so much.. and Xiao Nai.. oh my! you stole my heart with your perfection. He is just so charismatic!!

I loved that it was drama-free and the way their realtionship progresses naturally and unhurriedly. Will always be... more>> a Xiao Nai + Wei Wei's (as well as Yi Xiao Nai he + Reed Wei Wei's) fan.

Thank you so much translators for your efforts or else a non-chinese speaker would have been deprived of such a great work. <<less

This is the first story I have read by this author/in the universe and I loved it. (I plan to read Shan Shan soon.) I could write a very long review full of praise, but there are already well worded lengthy reviews posted that I agree with... so I'll just "ditto" those :) I will say that my favorite thing about this story was how mature the MCs were in their dealings with each other. If there was a problem they talked to each other about it and trusted... more>> each other. So refreshing! I much prefer stories like this where the MCs have problems they face together and grow together VS drama between them for stupid reasons and misunderstandings that could have easily been resolved if just one conversation had happened :P

They made a 30 episode Chinese drama based on this and I really liked it as well. (I watched it on DramaFever, it's called Love O2O if you want to check it out. I'd say do both - watch and read!) <<less

I've already finished this novel in one sitting way back--that's just how good it is. What can I say? This novel is pure perfection. The female and male lead are perfect for each other--I absolutely love their interactions and the romance is not too abrupt but gradually heightens. I was very satisfied with the ending as well. Everything was sorted out well in the end. I really like how the female character is so composed, mature and wise while the male character is calm and nosebleed worthy. And lastly everything... more>> was written beautifully!

I really really recommend it! <<less

This story is really great, cute, sweet, funny, and very addicting. Although it is quite short, it is still very enjoyable, with the occasional pov change, although very little is still quite refreshing to read.

Definitely on one of my top list of romance reading. The only downside for me is that the other character needs just a little more development and something like the side character's time to shine (lol) just a little.

The male and female lead have kind of generic personality in this story. Their adventure in the game isn't that bad, written as quite interesting. The problems they have are not bad in real life as well. The ending is well-liked by many. I think the after-ending story is more interesting than the main story, lol, maybe because the kids are the leads.

This is a novel written by the popular female author Gu Man and targeted at female readers, with the female character as the main focus. The overall feel is akin to that of a shoujo manga. Don't let the MMO aspect fool you, it merely serves as a vehicle for characters to interact so that the actual real meeting would be a big "reveal".

This is light-hearted, fangirly stuff wherein the male love interest is a financially independent, genius school idol who also excels in sports, while the main character is... more>> a beautiful gamer girl shut-in. Not an epic romance, but something out of a teen flick. Still, it's an enjoyable, light read. If you can enjoy shoujo manga (and I can tolerate them despite being a grizzled man), you might find this an interesting afternoon reading (the chapters are not very long). Don't let the BL (boys love) side-stories in the chapter listings turn you off, it's a very humorous slant regarding two side characters, or in manga terminology: omake extras.

There is a faithful and complete 2016 Chinese drama adaptation (30 episodes x 45 minutes) that stars two popular actors, Zheng Shuang and Yang Yang. It has been fully subbed. <<less

4/5 Interesting, though there’s too much sugar in the middle thus I can’t give perfect score.

Personally I prefer lil’bliss translations over the dream of jianghu, mainly because remembering chinese character names (especially their game name) is a pain...
