I'm giving this story 5 stars just because of chapter 24. Never have I been so satisfied for people receiving such appropriate instant karma for their actions. I will remember that scene long after I may have forgotten other, perhaps better written overall, stories.

The content itself is nothing unusual - main character is nobody, hits rock bottom, gains a cheat power, rises to the top - and the author plays it safe with the style so it's not terrible. It's also nothing memorable, either, but not bad for a time-waster.

Harem? Up to where I read (~4-5 arcs in) there's no sign that a real relationship will ever form, let alone multiple, though there are women who might be interested. It's also a very small part of the story, so it shouldn't keep you... more>> from reading or be a good reason for you to start reading.

If anything negative can really be said, the author focuses too much attention on the quest system, so I really get the feeling the main character is just a s*ave doing what he's told to do, and the system is his master. However, he shows a hint of personality at times. <<less

It's not bad but... The biggest thing that ruins it for me is that our MC is incredibly weak minded. Being less kind: He's a sniveling wimp. This is despite the fact that everyone treats him kindly and nobody has any problems with him. He just bows and scrapes to a unnecessary level. Everything is the end of the world, whether it be accepting a gift that's too expensive or even eating properly. He really doesn't understand how food works.

He's also an insensitive bastard so I doubt there will... more>> ever be any satisfying romance, but that's besides the point. I'd like this novel better if the MC never interacted with other people, because I don't think the author has at any point. Just make it a number grinder rpg.

This is like solo leveling if the protagonist was a template Japanese Isekai MC. <<less

Well written good story. Great translation. Wasn't boring, didn't have tons of extraneous nonsense like so many others.

Great OP MC.

Story didn't try to do too much with tons of side characters.

Better than the previous 35-40 I've read here on novel updates

A fairly average dungeon crawling story with RPG elements. If you like watching MMO streams starting from level 1, then here's your story. There's no major antagonist, plot arc, or goal to the story. It's just MC-kun working to get stronger with a few light character moments. The world has levels, skills and skill levels. MC-kun gets a status screen to view them. He gets quests presented to him in the status screen that provide him with new skills and skill points to level those skills up.

The story doesn't lend... more>> itself to having "spoilers" but I'll put my story summary in the tag anyway.

Spoiler

MC-kun gets killed then wakes up with the new status screen "power" that provides him with quests. He starts doing them; leveling up, gaining skills, and leveling up his skills. Banters with his female childhood friend who works at the weapon shop. Get a 12 year-old girl healer as a party member who bants with childhood friend. Event with future party member wolf girl. Adds a scout party member.

And that's basically the first 60 chapters.

This story is a block of tofu. Nothing that great, but nothing that bad. Solid 3/5 <<less

Meh, just meh. Typical harem novel with a decent grinding system that ultimately gets marred by a lack of creativity that rears it's head during boss fights. The sheer lack of tension in dungeon crawling is baffling to me. Even the dumpster fire that was "Otoko nara ikkoku ichijou no Aruji..." has better written dungeon crawling chapters and that's saying a LOT.

Not to mention the underwhelming characters, MC included are just plain harem templates that you've probably read a billion variations of by this point.

The only strong point of this... more>> novel is the skill and questing system, which ultimately doesn't mesh well with the world building because of how everything else is written.

Overall, this novel had potential but failed to deliver miserably. <<less

This has been a very fun read. I am surprised how much I enjoy almost all aspects of the writing and story style here.

I'd describe it as a laid back, mildly exploratory approach to OP, with just the hints of any kind of potential future romance. And the people around seem to mostly be okay, especially the ones in charge.

All in all a positive experience that is both OP and life-/people-affirming.

I don't know what's going to happen from now on but the first arc of this story is very solid.

Even though there isn't much that is unique or anything you haven't seen before in other stories the reveal at the end of the arc is pretty satisfying and executed very decently.

MC had barely any sort of character development so far I've read in 48 chapters. Too weak-minded and denser than a 12 y/o while being more than 18 y/o. DROPPED. Low self-esteem is fine but not after becoming a

So far, it feels like a Solo Leveling's rip-off. Not to mention the first chapter was published on Jan 2020 while Solo Leveling already published since 2016.

The difference is, there's currently no world-saving quest, just MC doing his daily training, getting stronger, etc.

I will drop it off if the author went the 'world-saving' route because it will definitely feels like a plagiarism. But so far, it's still okay.

It's just another simple power fantasy, but this one at least up to where I am is going things in a not hatable way. It's nice and you can just turn your brain off as you appreciate it's not too bad typical approach.

This falls under the adventure/slice of life type of story with a protagonist that just wants to make it big, because he didn't have it so easy before.

Now to talk a little bit about the story, it's the story of a simple low rank adventurer that gets a... more>> solo leveling like system that gives him quests and it's minimally interesting and if you have nothing better to do, it's not a bad read.

I recommend reading up to chapter 5 to decide whether it's for you or not.

My score for the one is a 3, since it does what it's trying to do up until where I am acceptably and it's just a simple little story. <<less

A very sweet story that ended too soon. There are three arcs worth of content that have their conclusions, but it really only got to the beginning of the protagonist's steps onto a wider stage where he and his growing party are starting to be noticed by the powers of the city and adventuring guild.

If you like seeing someone consistently put their all into their efforts and finally start to be rewarded for ten years of ceaseless determination, then this story is for you.

In regards to the protagonist being a... more>> wimp, I honestly do not know what that's in reference to. He let a young child go once and he's not easily provoked? Honestly, the only arguable flaw with the protagonist's actions is that he gets a little too focused with the quests he is currently working on and doesn't check his status/menu while working. I don't particularly consider that a flaw but it does lead to him missing out on seeing he was on a quest before completing the quest a few times and not making full use of leveling up while he's in the middle of working.

In the first arc he ignored a quest once and I found that a little strange, but that's literally the only flaw I could find in his reasoning and actions and that was resolved within a couple chapters (and I view that more as a flaw with the writer railroading the story a little bit and it only happened once).

The only reason I would avoid this story is that it is only three arcs and the chapters are pretty short, but it was quite, quite lovely while it lasted and I'm glad I gave it a chance. <<less

The author is really pushing the 25/50 gard bread joke. At this point, it is essentially the only personality the MC has apart from the skill board. I would rate this novel 3.8. One thing that I really hate is almost all of the characters are 2D.

I don't really get why this book is currently rated 3.9/5, just overall its not that good of a book. The world building is extremely shoddy, where we don't even get an explination of dungeons, the leveling system, anything, then when it comes to the mc's cheat he just kinda obtains it without much clerification on why. The MC himself has a badly created character where he is either overly excited about "finally" gaining strength or being a crybaby who isn't strong enough (despite the fact he is) The author... more>> tries to make it an emotional scene but since we never have any realistic moments like the MC crying and thinking about giving up due to no reward for 10 years of effort it just feels artificial. All of the mc's relationships with side characters feel artificial at best and are very one-deminisional. Overall it feels like the author didn't think very much about world building or character development which makes it impossible to get s**ked into the book and yearn for whats coming next. <<less
