Well it's shorter than the number of chapters would lead you to think. It's more 5 or 6 pages worth of story that's trying to do too much in too small a space and does nothing well. There's not much drama if any, the space is too short for romance, and the stab at comedy misses the mark entirely.

There's lots of stories that take aim at deconstructing and subverting the villainess concept and do much better job of it.

Bottom line: As short as this was I am still sorry I... more>> wasted my time on it. <<less

I like the story. It's a good, easy, short read with nice translation. Yeah, the conflict got solved easily, but I expect nothing more from a short story.

Spoiler

I actually wanted to deduct 1 point as this story doesn't have face slapping part. No punishment to the one who made MC suffered from guilt for decades.

The ending is like a typical story of a commoner girl who traveled with a prince to raise her status and marry the prince. There is no need for long explaination (again, since it is a short story).

[collapse]

So, I think the ending is not that rash. I decided to give 5, so this story is not underrated overall. <<less

The start of the story was fairly decent, but the latter part was a let down. More or less a little bit of hand waving and "then they lived happily ever after".

I guess most authors practice starting stories more than finishing them, because I find most authors weak at the finishing part of their stories, even more so for web/light novel authors.

Over all it was a decent try at a short story. It was short enough to not feel as a waste of time having read it either.

RECOMMEND FOR: People who want a quick and easy read. There's a bit of angst in the beginning, but it's an overall cute story.

STORY: The first two chapters set a great tone and was emotionally moving. The rest of the chapters feel more fast paced and the last chapter felt rushed, but everything is tied off prettily in the end. The only thing I hated are the circumstances that led to the female lead not wanting to see her husband again. It gets cleared up, but it really frustrated me.

CHARACTERS: Violet and Soleil are both very sweet and lovable characters. Violet has the most depth as this in her POV, and she goes from somewhat spoiled to actual loving wife to someone who would sacrifice her happiness for the sake... more>> of her loved ones. I was kind of surprised by Soleil's attitude in his second life, but over all, it was cute.

TRANSLATION: It's good. It has little to no errors in spelling and grammar. The formatting is good, in that it is easy to read and not too confusing. It gets a little confusing when Violet and Soleil are talking about their previous life (ch4-5) but it's fairly understandable. If you read manga or watch anime, it's easy to understand. The translators followed the Japanese sentence structure rather than take liberties to make it more purely English-reader friendly.

OVERALL: It's quick and light-hearted. There's a bit of angst, but it's a short story so it's settled early on. The characters are cute enough. It's not the best story out there, but it's not the worst, and it leaves you feeling happy in the end. I think the premise is good, and the story would've benefited from at least three or five more chapters because the ending felt very rushed. <<less

Edit: I would give this 1.5/2 stars, except I misplaced and it won't let me change it. The story isn't horrible it just isn't good.

Seriously, this felt like more like a rough draft/long story summary than an actual story. A good chunk of it is prologue, which can be excused for summarizing, but the rest is also full of time skips and "we had a problem but then we fixed it"'s, so while there's technically a plot that gets solved, it didn't feel satisfying in the least. The main misunderstanding... more>> gets solved instantly, even though the summary makes it sound like it's a whole Big Deal. It is not, there aren't ANY Big Deals in the story; the most there is is the wind up for a plot hiccup that doesn't even manifest.

Honestly, it just made me want to read a fleshed out version of the story. The two leads are the only characters that get fleshed out at all and they seem like they could be interesting given the chance to have more than one conversation with anyone (ie each other.) At least it was short? <<less

Very short and probably as short as a one-shot..

Story is not really that interesting. If you've read enough of this genre you could've guessed 90% is what is gonna happen next.
Spoiler

MC from otome game villainess (?) in her previous life to otome game protagonist on her next life.

.

Not saying that it's bad but not really that good as well. I would usually rate something like this a 2 or 3, but I'd give it some props just for the setting, only the setting, other than that it was mediocre. Especially the ending it reeks of plot armor just to have a happy ending.

So quick it was pretty much a oneshot. Solid short story. Nothing groundbreaking, but you won't regret reading this.

Short and sweet - I want to reiterate everything seri19 said. Translation was good, cute, quick read, could have benefitted from a couple more chapters but not bad at all.

  1. The first part was a sped up prologue, but it captured the intention of the main character.
    Spoiler

It was quite interesting to see a villainess turned heroine in her next life, because we're usually rooting for one or the other, and with the current theme of villainesses taking the spotlight in light novels, heroines have become the new antagonists.

    [collapse]

I wondered what the current life would be about, because this is meant to be a short story, but everything in the following chapters is a convenient explanation for why they have to be together.

    Spoiler

The previous life's "lover" wasn't his lover, but a crazed woman.

Currently, it's the same. Surprise! They're not engaged, nor are they dating each other! How convenient!

It turns out she was a massive liar, and those people who attested to his misery were only led by her!

To make her even more of a crazed lunatic, she likely beat her up, too!

He had loved her all along. This one, I understood from the very beginning, in spite of the questionable way they married. This one seemed the most natural to me.

Everyone was reincarnated conveniently. Nearly the whole cast is here! The friends, the "lover", even the parents! Of course, the parents had to have convenient reincarnations, too: they're currently his parents! So now they CAN be together properly, with nothing in their way! Now Lilina/Violet can shut up and marry him without any troublesome doubts!

Everything is oh so convenient, as if the god of their world relocated a bunch of people into a new story, and several of them had their memories conveniently, with their original appearances.

I imagine that it turned out like this:

"You look just like my previous life's husband!"

"You look like my previous life's wife!"

    they get married.

"Hey, our son is looking a lot like "him", lately."

"I know mom and dad from the previous life!"

    "You got reincarnated, too?!"

    I know it's a ridiculous dialogue, but...

    [collapse]

Well, it's not exactly super bad that everything's convenient, and this is fiction, but I can say it's an exaggerated version of the "reincarnated with memories intact" kind of stories, where the universe just aligns properly. This one is a straight line of constellations.

Still, it's a pretty interesting story.

This is genuinely more of a comedy than anything close to approaching tragedy. Insanely fast paced with absolutely no conversation between the two main characters and maybe 4 sentences about the 2 children that first marriage produced

The premise was actually quite good and the story itself was interesting until I read the last chapter. The ending was so rushed. I wish the author took her/his time to write MC's struggle in the journey of marrying ML in this life rather than fast-forwarded it in only 1 paragraph. I also want to know what happened with the villainess that made MC sad in her last and current life. I demand a face slapping moment but sadly, it didn't happen.
