I found the s*xual attitudes pretty disturbing. If you don't care about that, then you may enjoy this. So far it's just a "strong disguised as weak" comedy (including h*mophobia jokes). Too early to see much plot or other draws.

Spoiler

As a "weak" slime, the protagonist has a few stereotypically weak friends, such as a (male) goblin. Fine, but do you actually need to put in speech the goblin's raving about virg*ns and "eating"? Also, as for the protag himself...

"Being a former human, I can understand the the pleasure of watching the corruption of a white elf priest–a sacred woman of a prideful race." - Thoughts of our King of Heroes protagonist reincarnated as a slime

"I was thanked by the child, I was thanked but. For some reason he was blushing and fidgeting, that appearance gave me chills. Lizardman. A race of only males, two male parents. That child, after being saved from kidnappers the child who blushed and said his thanks. I, both my back and bottom shivered." - protag again

Its very early, but I can say this.

The comedy isn't good at all. And I expect its not going to get better. There is a lame running joke about goblins raping lolis and women in general. Yeah, that is the kind of "comedy" this series used. And trust me. It's in EVERY. FREAKING. CHAPTER.

There is nothing really good I can say about it. The character is the bland lazy OP MC. The side characters... I don't remember them. That's how forgettable they are. The premise doesn't really matter much. Sure,... more>> its a slice of life, but its not a very interesting one.

Basically, it's the most lazily written novel out there. Only good thing is the good translation. It's a pity it's for a terrible webnovel.

Final Verdict: Unless you are completely out of novels to read, then, go ahead and scr*pe the bottom of the barrel.

Edit: Yeah, its complete tr*sh, with no redemption. Don't waste your time with this filth. Even 50 shades of grey is a funner read. <<less

Ugh, I don't want to give this webnovel a 2/5 this early, but the fact that the author keeps going on about goblins raping women at the drop of the hat's a bother.

Overall it's not bad, the translation's good quality, nice release pace, the story's nothing new, another reincarnation story into a monster, OP main character that hides his real status, with slow bits of his story released here and there, side characters are kinda flat, but *shrugs* nothing new there since it's a light read.

I will read some more,... more>> but it's like the author wanted to write a fetish story but had to keep it on a side.

Read up to the start of Volume 2, honestly, this author should have just wrote an adult story and not try to pu*sy foot around, any chapter where the goblin's around turns to be around 60% talking about raping 'pure' women. <<less

I can't stand the main character's personality. As the novel is slice-of-life focused on the main character, I can't stand the novel. He's the kind of MC who wants to avoid being in the spotlight at all costs "because it's troublesome", but he works so hard in the course of doing so that he just looks s*upid. Plus, for a former human, he has no thoughts at all for the humans he encounters. Not positive, not negative. He just doesn't want to be seen defeating them. He also doesn't seem... more>> to have an emotional connection to anyone, or it's just not shown properly by the author.

Slice-of-life with no comedy, emotions, tension, or hobbies and a bland setting. <<less

A fun, light-hearted read. If you want something dark, serious or heavy, go elsewhere. It's not that bad things don't happen, but they are glossed over. Comedy is understated, not slapstick. If you want slapstick or lots of tsukomi-boke styled comedy, go elsewhere. Though there is some black, sexually-biased humour.

MC's character starts off more or less mature, so there's no classic shounen-style character development. Instead, you'll slowly uncover the reasons (more or less) behind his motivations. MC starts the story already OP. His growth happened in the past, off-screen. So... more>> if you want DB/Naruto/Bleach-style power-ups, go elsewhere.

Most of those who rate this story low seem to dislike comedic and lighthearted slice-of-life stories. They've rated other stories of this style quite poorly. I don't know why they came here in the first place. They're like people who don't like to eat apples complaining that some famous brand of apple pie doesn't taste good. <<less

I read fifteen chapters the MC is competent but he is not likable or driven.

He is competent but doesn't use that to drive the plot. Each subplot is more like a television episode, the MC has an adventure but it takes him back to the same place and the MC does not change or want to change.

He is not likable, he doesn't do anything that makes him relatable. He doesn't want to draw attention to himself and that is ok, but he doesn't do anything to make it so others... more>> would leave him alone. He doesn't show others that he is unreliable so other characters continue to make him act.

Finally he does not have any drive, it is boring to read about a MC that does not do anything and only reacts. X happens so he responds by doing Y, character A tells him to do objective C and he goes and gets objective C complete in some way that was obviously explained not to long ago. There isn't any payoff for reading or paying attention to the details.

I did not enjoy reading the first few chapters and I was seriously hoping it would get better. But due to the lack of character or plot development I will not read any further. <<less

The main character is very much like Satou from Death March. As in, he's basically a god and can do anything. Nothing stands up to him, but he's more concerned with staying out of the public eye. The novel is pretty funny too, with usual harem antics (Ojou-type, Servant-type, Little Sister-type) and a mix of standard love-comedy jokes and rather unique monster-ecology jokes (until they get repeated).

A good chunk of the novel is also learning about the circumstances of the world and how it works. There's just enough detail that... more>> you know what's going on and the author does not write a whole history book for you, opting to instead show history through character interactions and events.

I think this novel actually has an unfair low score because of raping goblins (generally black comedy) clashing with the general light-hearted tone. The novel itself is not utter tr*sh, but I can see how this novel would conflict with people's world view. Also, there's the horribly annoying Shesta repetition. In fact, a lot of jokes are repeated to solidify character personality, it's a one-note at best and annoying at worst.

I would say this is a pretty good novel if you like all-powerful protagonists and can look past repetitious jokes and some pretty badly done black comedy. <<less

So far, it's good.

It's a feel good story of a slime who was a hero.

It's good to read this novel while putting yourself in a position when you feel so bad from overworking yourself to the bone. And then thinking to yourself on what to do to completely remove stress.

Very fun read, especially when reading after work. :)

Its just booring. Really booring. Booring and flat. And the description is not right. He says he wants to do nothing yet always he does all the work. The plot armor is so thick that you would not belive. I guess I have ben fed up with the ''Reincarnated into a fantasy world'' theme. And belive me I have tried to read all of them so that I can become a good reviewer. Even the one Reincarnated as a onsen and a vending machine and as a sword and many... more>> many more (yes they exist) But this one is just ''bleh''. The jokes are borring. Im not offended with the r*pe stuff like some other special snowflakes (read Goblin Slayer manga and you will see why) but it just doesnt sit well with the setting of this novel. Maybe I wanted it to be something like Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken while I wait for some new chapters sadly its not. 1/5 dont waste your time. <<less

boring, not funny, lack originality, forgetableside character, flat MC, lack goal or just plot in general, bad taste on comedy (I love reading r*pe doujinshi etc but still get offended, that is just how awful the jokes are), poorly written overall, the translation is pretty good tho

I cannot find any reason why anyone should read this, especially since we have countless other isekai of this quality laying around somewhere

A cute slice of life about a reincarnated OP slime.

There are some dark undertones since the story is viewed from the monster's point of view but if you can go past that, it's a cheery and light hearted slice of life about a lazy overpowered reincarnated slime who only wants to slack off but (almost) everything around him tends to bug him with troublesome stuff. The chapters are short enough to not get serious and so far majority of them have made me chuckle.

I loved slice of life themed novels. But for some reason this novel just really made me cringe and annoyed.

For someone who kept on talking he hates to work and troublesome things, our MC here is almost and always on every scene here and doing most of the works, his morality and views are just really *table flips*.

To anyone who liked reading slice of life novels, I just want to say that there's no any element of that genre here, only a messed up ideas that was put together heck... more>> even the comedic elements here feel forced

Sorry if this became sort of a rant. I can't find any remarkable thing from here, well aside if you like the wish fulfillment thingy? <<less

It feels like the author put no effort into doing this and just went with some random thoughts.

BTW, there is no prologue and his origin is explained as the chapters go on but he is definitely a SLIME who somehow ended up in the nest of a dragon and instead of being killed he is instead being raised as a dragon.

It says hero in the summary but if being reincarnated as a slime in another world automatically makes you a hero then he could barely pass as one. He is... more>> merely someone from modern Earth

Spoiler

He gets stomped on by his dragon mother but it's fine because her magic is almost omnipotent and can resurrect him even after his slime substance gets splattered all over the ground and dies. He who is a slime is not allowed to call himself a slime or he will get scolded (it's more like death but whatever) and is forced to fight if there are invaders and apparently he is strong but in front of the Dragon mother, he gets insta killed. His friends are weak mobs like goblins and imps, they also die but are resurrected so it's not exclusive to the slime.

I just read a few chapters, then I stopped.

The story just feels very monotonous. Every chapter feels the same. The jokes are repetitive. The events have similar level of tension (nothing) and mood (light). The characters are one note. The main character's goal is uncomplicated. The setting is bland.

Just, nothing. There is nothing in the story that moves you or affect you in some way. It is just white noise.

I usually have a high tolerance for stories like this but this one is missing the key elements to a good story. The concept is pretty original, but its refuses to take advantage of its surroundings and it's characters.

Typically with stories like this you start out with a fun light hearted story and as more and more characters are introduced, you start getting a feeling that not everything is as it seems and theres something in the background threatening the wish of a peaceful life of the protagonist. In order... more>> to avoid impending doom the lazy protagonist will typically ally themselves with multiple factions to have as many safe guards as possible. That includes moving to multiple locations and changing to the overall tone of the story possibly multiple times to keep readers invested for as long as possible. Moving to different locations is especially important for fantasy stories in particular because they to basically have describe to you what the world's dynamic is without outright saying it. This includes showing the culture of the characters, showing the basic rules and taboos of this world, and setting up a possible time frame of what era it takes place in. With this type of reincarnation story, the protagonist's history and achievements needs to be revealed carefully and slowly, as too fast is just an info dump causing readers to lose interest and too slow leads the reader to believe that the past doesnt actually matter to the protagonist especially if he is never recalling it. Reincarnation stories in particular need to take advantage of the fact that the protagonist in reincarnated and has all this knowledge from his past self to aid him.

The problem of this story is that it lacks most of the elements of a good story. first of all the only threat we know of as of chapter 18 is the entire human race and mother dragon, it doesnt make for a very compelling story if the threat is obvious, clear, and easy to avoid. Second of all we know next to nothing about the world our protagonist is in and the reader can only assume its the basic D&D setup. The culture seen from the protagonist eyes is way too biased and although that view is basically used as a running gag for jokes, its not very funny and frankly its offensive to most people.
Spoiler

How can a genderless slime that is attracted to women, criticize the lizard men for doing what they're race is already designed to do. I understand its supposed to be funny in a hypocritical mocking kind of way but the humor isn't very clear and ends up coming off as homophobic. a similar thing is done when it comes to talking about goblins raping things. Rather then being disgusted as a former human himself and then dismissive of their behavior because "its in their nature", its feels as if he is dismissive of the behavior from the get go. The joke of goblins raping virg*n queens follow soon after that but once again its not very funny and only portrays the protagonist as heartless, unempathic, and un-relatable. (the downfall of most stories) I think I wouldn't have mind it so much if it was mentioned once but the fact that its basically made some sort of plot point and is constantly referenced over and over again really ruins it for me. yes we get it you really want to r*pe some virg*ns, just dont forget the toss in the vampire too. I dont think he ever reaches out to the human queens and rather would just leave her to her fate. later on he is put in charge of a young human girl and now he suddenly cares for humans?! yeah that type of switch in morals isn't going to slide very easily with me.

[collapse]
The reincarnation gimmick is never taken advantage of. In fact I think the story would have been better without it. Its only seems to get in the way and add unnecessary elements to the story. the story is made even worse by the fact that no one actually cares about the protagonist (unrelatable) or his history and the small bit of history that is revealed isn't interesting nor wanted. Its doesnt even seen to really help him ether. Can you imagine how much interesting the story would be if he had lost most of his memory and had to find out what and who his past self was while being stuck in the body of a monster? Too bad thats not the case. Oh yeah and speaking of mystery, theres none of that in this story. Besides the dude's past that no one cares about, everything is outright revealed to you making the story feel repetitive and boring. The last flaw im going to state is the lack of change in environment. Almost every fantasy story if not a mystery story then is some type of adventure. Problem is that all we know is that they live in a forest and to make it worse, the forest feels extremely small because of the lack of struggle when going anywhere in the forest. In most reincarnated into a monster stories there a sense of struggle when traveling making the area appear much larger then it actually is but this story once again lacks any of that. For a slime, he must go pretty darn fast... <<less

well... let me split this up in 3 parts...

  1. The Story is your everyday reincarnation with a slight amount of specials (non-Human, concealed ability) but nothing more, it has its moments, but in its whole, there is better out there.
  2. The Goblin + virg*n runing gag is not funny anymore (in my Eyes) it has been used waaaaaaaay too much, so im only flying over it, if it comes again (and it will return without fail. IM SHURE)
  3. you all have seen the Tag "Dense Protagonist" am I right ? after reading this I want an "ULTRA Dense MC" Tag. I think this is all I have to say about the MC ? He has a good hearth is a "little" bit slacky, and he wont learn the meaning of love before his 3th Child but hey... (no Spoiler, just my Prediction)
  4. Spoiler

at the moment, im only reading it to find out how long it takes till he learns about "feelings"

The MC only cares about his monster friends and is very apathic towards humans despite being a former human, that's because he doesn't want to stand out. It's just a novel about an op, really lazy and mostly dense MC and his daily life as a reincarnated slime.

Funny and light-hearted. Medium quality writing but it is nice as fluff.

Some people say that the MC is inconsistent but that isn't the case. The MC is burdened by his conscience, and can't bear to do nothing when people around him need help. In his previous life, this led to him being over-worked and miserable, so in this life he tries to hide his power in order to avoid requests for help. But old habits die hard and his friends are idiots, so he gets pulled into incidents a lot.

Spoiler

especially since his mother is always trying to push him into showing his power. She uses force and scheming, and makes sure the MC can't easily slack off.

[collapse]
Basically, he wants to be lazy but he is too nice to do nothing. Some people complain about him not caring about human life, but I don't see why he would. He has been living as a monster for years, humans try to kill monsters, plus humans can be resurrected if a monster kills them. I wouldn't hesitate to kill them either.

The comedy complaints are hard to refute, sadly. Either you can put up with stale jokes or you can't. It didn't bother me but it might bother you. Each chapter is like its own little 4-koma though, so while it is repetive it isn't actually copying jokes verbatim. The goblin r*pe is also a bit off-putting. Apparently goblin r*pe is now a cliche in Japanese fantasy, so it gets played for laughs here. I used to read RE:Monster so I've gotten used to authors treating goblin r*pe as totally normal and acceptable, but I still remember how jarring it was the first time that I saw that kind of thing being treated as a side note. If it's a deal-breaker for you, give this novel a pass because the author clearly has no problem making slightly different jokes about it over and over again. <<less

Its good but not great, because MC is using same way to conceal its ability, so its kind of like repeated story, and I dont know what is MC thinking, like he is a fool or lack of common sense, isnt be the son of mother dragon can be an alibi for concealing someting, like, its okasan order, or something like that?
