This story has very short chapters so you can blow through the current 12 chapters pretty quickly. Sadly, that means not a lot has happened at this point. She was accused of a crime and sent back into the past 200 years (after the magician who sent her promised to call her back in 3 months). She conveniently arrives/lands/appears just outside a friendly magician's cottage. He immediately takes her in, believes her story no questions asked and teaches her herb gathering.

Spoiler

Fast foward to the nearly 3 month mark and they are in love with each other (felt like out of nowhere) and she no longer wants to go back to her original timeline so the magician is trying to help her find a way to stay in the past. [There was a brief bit somewhere in there with people in the present discussing something something blah blah lookit this blah blah ok deal. I'm honestly not sure if it was really that vague or I just read it too fast.]

[collapse]

The stuff in the spoiler tag isn't in the summary, but really, you can read this pretty fast so it's not a huge spoiler. The overall story is rather shallow at this point, but it's fluffy and a fast read so I'll likely keep going on it for a while longer.

I don't feel like there's enough here to give it a fair rating yet so I'll likely edit this in future to add a rating. Wait wait - there's only 17 chapters and we're on chapter 12? No wonder it all seems to be moving too fast - contents of a longer story smushed into a short one I'm guessing (I'll let you know 5 chapters from now...)

Edit - Nov 22, 2021: having now read the entire thing I feel vaguely unsatisfied. It was translated fairly well, but I think the pacing was off (on the author's side). It felt too long for a short story, but also too short for a long story (depending on what could potentially happen next, this could have read like a lengthy prologue). For a romance it didn't focus much on the romance. Take this bit for example:

Spoiler

"Two months have passed since Lunaria had been transported to the past and ever since that day, when she realized that she was in love with Mikhail, she had suppressed her growing feelings and acted as usual." <- I don't know about anyone else, but I'm here for the relationship building so I would very much have liked to read about what happened in that 2 month time frame. Neatly side stepping it by effectively saying "after a couple months they fell in love" is a bit of a let down.

[collapse]

I feel like this could have been quite a bit shorter, still gotten the point across and been somewhat more satisfying as a result. The romance aspect of this romance felt rather flat. <<less

3 Stars

It's a very readable story, the prose is lucid and easily comprehended and that's it for the good things.

In counterpoint, the characters and story telling are truly flat. I just didn't have the chance to empathize with the MC's plight nor her romance. It was all just too shallow. The antagonists were your usual cardboard cut outs from every other villainess story out there. I do give the author points for the pink haired baron's daughter. Otherwise, I couldn't care about the characters.

The plotting was simplistic to put it... more>> mildly. There are a few "Twists" but they were all as obvious as a lighthouse on a dark night. I had to stop myself from commenting. Toss in an ending that was a bit of yawn and you have a truly mediocre story. <<less

The premise of this story was actually quite refreshing but unfortunately, it wasn't executed well. The progression of the story felt really bland. I expected more drama but it didn't happen. Even the villain was defeated off-screen and what left was only the trial. But overall, the story was still considered decent to pass the time.

It's a short story you can breeze through in an hour.

I have to say though, punishment of banishment to the past is like super unique... And isn't it ridiculous that time magic is used for punishment rather than something productive instead. That's what was actually going on in my head while reading lol

The characters are flat and the plot is straightforward and honestly it's a meh read.

I think the best way to describe this series is "way too rushed and everything seems forced".

Chapters themselves are so short that even after 17 characters, essentially nothing happened (yet everything happened).

As an analogy, it felt like reading an "outline" or "synopsis" of a novel rather than the actual novel. Because the concept is very simple and predictable, we already knew what the overall plot was going to be before it even started due to the genre (a girl is branded as a villainess and then banished, sent back in... more>> time, she comes back and overthrow the prince, sprinkle romance here and there because it has the romance tag, the end). Sure enough, that bracketed part gets turned into 17 chapters with nothing new being added and then the story ends.

It just made me feel like I was missing out on all the juicy stuff after reading the synopsis but there's no way to read those juicy stuff. <<less
