It's not groundbreaking. A lot of concepts are similar or reused to other stories, and the flow of things is around the same as stories with similar premise.

The author managed to wrap up things in a way that all major plot points are resolved without much left to speculation with the ending being particularly good. That said, some of the minor were reused or checked upon every so often but remained somewhat ambiguous due to the nature and time scale of cultivation novels.

Personally, I rate it a 4 because it was enjoyable from start to end and the author's attempt to explore everything they wanted to with a somewhat acceptable level of depth within a semi-reasonable amount of chapters compared to other cultivation novels that seem to stretch endlessly above the 2000 chapter mark. <<less

A messy start but a decent ending. Not the story nor the ending has anything new that you won't find in other novels of the same genre. No new ideas. The drawbacks of this particular novel is its flat story which lacks depth till the last 10-20 chapters. It's quite lackluster and doesn't evoke much emotions from you while reading. The romance also lacks depth as such you won't find it strange even if the female lead was someone other. The cliché of other chinese novels is 'China numba own' but here it's 'Human race numba own'. It pisses me very much when authors put stuff like these in their novels but well it is what it is. Just ignore and move on—ptui! <<less
