This is a series that could be good but never will.
-After a few chapter MC already has personality disorder... on the level of: day1: MC is the protector of human rights day2: MC is the overlord. Of course MC is OP because... everyone likes OP MC?
-Chapters are too short. For this type of series especially.

-Actually, it's boring....

Beyond boring. One might imagine the author's mind whilst drafting the plot of the story: "Hmm... people like lolis right? Especially loli harems right? I know! Why don't I make the biggest loli harem ever! Genius!". And there you have the entire story in a nutshell.

So in one chapter the humunculi are mentioned to require human blood as food. And yet somehow this one guy (a teenager) has enough blood to satisfy all 1000 humunculi? And it's never mentioned again (I'm at c39). See, when you want to introduce... more>> a flaw or weakness, it has to be an actual flaw that has real consequences, not just "oh, here you go drink my blood" and then never mentioned ever again.

Need I mention the one-dimensional quality of the characters? Literally all 1000 humunculi have no reason to live other than to fawn over the MC. All 1000 of them. All they live for in life are head pats. This is some of the laziest writing I've ever seen. It's actually kind of s*upid how they never try to get to know the MC (e.g ask about his history) in any way, nor does the MC try to get to know them (not that they have any actual experiences to speak of since they're humunculi LOL). I mean humunculi are more like robots than human if you think about it. They're grown in a test tube... how did they acquire personalities? How did they learn to speak? How do they know anything? Why would Seiram or the evil god give them these things if they're just supposed to be sacrifices? They totally do not act like how real people would act at all. I mean, even little girls are at least curious about the world but they all act like robots.

I also dislike the possession idea. The MC is acting and thinking strangely because he is possessed by an evil god. Well that sure makes things convenient. It also removes any notion of character coherence and let's you explain just about anything the MC does or says regardless of how nonsensical it is. We have no idea which decisions are the MC's own idea and which are caused by the possession.

All in all, it's not a very well thought out story imo. <<less

It's so-so. Release is slow, MTL could be better. The general plot doesn't seem too bad. Making a nation for 1000 Homunculus girls who serve you? Who wouldn't want that? This novel lacks.... flair, I guess. There's nothing really making me want to read more, which, IMO, is what a novel should do. There's probably going to be a harem. It could get better later, but, for now, it's a 3.

Review for up to Chapter 23. Rating 2.5/5

This novel shows some promise with its story telling. There is 1001 potential characters to use and the author smartly limits that to roughly ten so you don't get mind over loaded with to much. However even then most everyone is hallow and one-dimensional.

Instead of giving time for the characters to breathe and come to life the focus is on advancing the world building. Which could be fine and work except the approach to the world building is done using one note characterizes... more>> pretending to be characters.

The novel is flooded with cliches as well. Little girl with a big weapon, head pat reward, all girls after the main character, etc... If you made a check list of things you'd expect to see in a story like this there is a good chance that within 10 chapters almost all of them are checked off.

Granted not all stories need to reinvent the wheel, and if your not looking for anything of substance you probably could find worse stories of this genre to read. It just doesn't do anything new or impressive. <<less

The story is about a failed summoning of the demon lord through an attempt to sacrifice 1000 female Homunculi. The summoning backfires due to the summoner getting crushed during the ceremony. Thus a normal human male is summoned instead and none of the 1000 female Homunculi are sacrificed. The human male feels compelled to protect the Homunculi from the world that treats them like monsters. Along the way, he finds out that his body and mind are not completely human anymore.

The image, experience, theme I'm getting is of that a teenager wanting a harem for himself which the author depict in this series. I've read many other and this one is too much into that aspect. The MC, like many others, doesn't really make going back as his main priority, instead he makes saving 1000 cute girls his priority. That's nice and all, but when you read it for yourself, you'll see that he's too calm about his situation when he's actually only a normal teenager from peaceful Japan, which... more>> makes the story too unrealistic. If you're looking for something of proper plot like Mushoku Tensei, this one is definitely not for you. <<less

1000 Homunculi were supposed to be sacrificed to summon a demon, but instead now they are serving a boy.
This novel certainly has a good start. Although it is IMO somewhat slow (in chapter release, not slow in translation).
