"Lord of All Realms" - the MC can fight not just a few levels higher, but with tools almost up to no limit. Besides bloodline skills such as Life Drain, Life Blend are really interesting in use. Close to the end you gonna dive in a cosmology similar to "The Silmarillion" :)... more>>

In "Martial Peak" I like how cunning and unpredictable the MS is. His trumps are unrivalled and numerous, so it always exciting to see which combination he uses to solve a problem. 

"Against the Gods" is a little bit special. The author can really play the soul strings. From time to time, you put down the book and think about and feel it. It manages to evoke quite strong emotions, which is untypical for light novels.

Apparently "Heavenly Silkworm Potato" has written "Battle Through the Heavens", "Wu Dong Qian Kun" and "The Great Ruler" in the given order, actually progressing with every new book. The last one is exceptional. The MC is especially interesting; he never stops surprising you.

The author "Mad Snail" is presented in my list with "Tales of Demons and Gods", "Nine Astra Skies" and "Cult of the Sacred Runes". All three are really cool, especially TDG which has the highest potential, but all of them are unfinished and abandoned (what a pity!). 

I had really good times while reading "Martial God Asura" and "Versatile Mage". But probably these are a bit overextended. <<less

After reading many novels I reached the conclusion that (for a male at least) the perfect novel needs 3 ingredients to satisfy the reader without boring him:... more>>

1 - STRENGTH : Constant MC drive to Increase his power/strength via cultivation or other means. The greater the obstacles he overcomes, the hardship, and the explosion of his power after he strengthened himself, the greater is the psychological reward. Examples: I Shall Seal The Heavens, Against The Gods, The Desolate Era.

2 - BEAUTY : An unending series of beauties in distress, with saving them as the main motivation to go on with the story. The MC should not be necessary a righteous person, but he should have a soft spot for damsels in distress. The beauties must not necessarily become part of the MC harem, they just need to be grateful to him. Examples: Womanizing Mage, Ancient Strengthening Technique, Battle Through the Heavens.

3 - WISDOM : The MC must outsmart his enemies. The most cunning, the better. Battle strength alone is not going to keep interest in the long run. Scheming and strategy, especially long term grand designs and political ploys, keep the story interesting. Antagonists also need to be crafty to make defeating them a rewarding experience. EXAMPLES: Legend of Ling Tian, Nirvana in Fire, Transcending the Nine Heavens.

So the formula is Xianxia/Xuanhuan + Save-The-Beauties + Cunning Protagonist.
