Competently written, which is a huge plus in my mind. Too many light novels out there that I have to wonder about the authors ability to remember/re-read what they previously wrote. And unlike other game stories, this author doesn't forget that there is a world outside of the game. Though to be honest, like most game stories the author needs more non-game related parts of the story. I find myself more interested in the real world then the game, because the MC is so OP in the game and he... more>> considers it a job almost.

A very similar story to One-Punch Man but set in a VR MMORPG game. So don't look at this story for a real-world type adventure where the character has his tribulations, defeats and triumphs in equal measures. A quick and enjoyable read. <<less

Death March is what I would consider in the purest sense of the word, a web novel. It really feels like the author wrote the story on a chapter by chapter basis to get the readers interested enough to read the next chapter. A light-hearted adventure story that's full of comedy, drama, fluff and...

... near the end a strong feeling of impending and utterly complete destruction. Really feels like the author is ready to end this series.

Enjoyed the harem route. Not a Beta male MC, but just keeps getting thwarted by the loli's in his group that want him to jump them. Really pretty funny when the MC gets other characters to think of him as perverted when really he wants someone who couldn't be his own child. He even makes a full statement about using professionals, but I thought it would have been better if he had some kind of contract with the brothels for them to collect information and he pays them well and leaves them passed out. lol!

MC seems to be more like the focal point of the story. The people around him and the interactions they have with him (not him with them) and with other people seem to be the MC's.

Would recommend this as a time waster. Its good, but there is plenty of room for improvement <<less

Probably my favorite light novel (LN) of all time or at least in the top 3. When I first picked this series up I spent 2 days going from start to finish without stopping. I literally didn't do anything other than read this series.

There are some flaws with the translations that you need to be made aware of due to the large number of different translators that have picked up or dropped the series. That being said the translators have done a fantastic job.

Takes an interesting approach to the main... more>> character (MC) and the MC's in-game character name, Weed. The whole idea behind the story seems to be that no matter what location its in, a weed will always find a way to grow. In other words, perseverance. Never giving up.

the LN also takes an interesting approach to MMORPG's and Character advancement and even class selection, quests and NPC relations. There are times where there are several chapters in a row without a combat sequence, but I enjoyed these parts sometimes more than the combat sequences. That being said, the combat is nothing to dismiss either. I've often found myself thoroughly deep in the imagination of the battle and even rooting alongside characters outside of the game world that are cheering the MC on.

Overall, the battle's are great, the production moments are interesting, the quests are fun, the player interactions are believable, the personalities are relatable (to an extent), the characters are well developed with good backstories and its just a great LN to read. <<less

So far the story changes widely from chapter to chapter to the point where I received 'readers whiplash'. Seems like a revenge/psychotic power trip that really doesn't seem all that believable. If a friend asked me to recommend a light novel to read I would not recommend this.

Revenge stories and power trips can be quite fun/interesting to read but I felt little drive to keep reading.
