The Death Mage Who Doesn’t Want a Fourth Time

The biggest problem is that he's got a crippling inferiority complex.

He is absolutely certain that he can't defeat the hundred other individuals when they reincarnate, so he tries to put it all behind him and not revenge himself.

Not only is he already aware that this is pointless, as god has it in for him and will screw him over, but it basically removes any and all conflict and tension from the story.

Which makes the character kind of irritating and the story pretty boring as things progress.

Time Smuggling Starting from the Year 2000

The description is a bit misleading. He's actually just a modern guy that finds a time machine, not someone from the future. The time machine has certain requirements, and transporting inorganic matter is cost prohibitive so a lot of the plot is driven by the need to get what he needs to travel through time, and then bring back things that can make him lots of money to advance the progression. What makes this story actually unique and interesting though is that he's not an every-man, but rather a rich... more>> kid competing for influence within a major family. This is also the only Chinese story I've yet read with an unashamedly un-filial protagonist, he fights with his parents, disobeys them, and they try to steel his money in turn. Which I find a really nice change of pace. <<less

It's blatantly inspired by Warlock in the Magus World, but it doesn't do very well despite that. The protagonist uses fire as his element, the magic system restricts how many spells you can know at any given level, and he has no other real skills nor a personality cunning enough to overcome the daily issues of being a bottom-rung adept. Even his ability to absorb knowledge is weak, as it takes energy from his spirit to do so. Supposedly the story kicks into gear when the fights start happening, but... more>> I just found myself bored by them. <<less

I know a lot of people don't read stories without reviews. Basically, the protagonist is an optimized reader, he reads and every other part of his life is focused on making him better able to spend time reading. The story hasn't progressed enough to tell how the mechanics work, there's a VR system that he joined, but it's not far enough yet to tell whether he's going to be expoiting in-game mechanics or if it will affect the real world.

It's a bit funny, sure, but there are also enough major flaws for it to be irritating. He always gets the one thing he needs right as he needs it, a lot of the plot revolves around him being poor and then getting enough money to act like he's rich, with another whole aspect of the plot being basically a dating sim mechanic to rationalize his harem.

Cultivation Chat Group did it all better.

It's funny, though the story is still in the introductory phase. He hasn't really done anything alchemical yet, he's just aiming to be as lazy as humanly possible, to the point of intentionally disappointing everyone's expectations of genius so as to not have to do much in the future.

Plundering the Dao of the Immortal Journey

When there is story happening it can get at least a little interesting, but that's really the only good thing about this.

There is an game system, but it basically only serves to provide quests in order to drive the plot. Giving him a reason to do things that make no sense otherwise. Of course that raises questions like why Those quests and who is providing guidance, but of course those things never get answered.

The protagonist himself, is pretty unlikable. At least he acknowledges that the guy in the body from... more>> before was a moron, but he feels an idiotic need to repay him anyway. Including taking on his love interest, rebuilding his clan, all that generic crap. Which is all even worse, since the very first chapter said specifically how to avoid all these problems, just tell the teacher that he a spiritual gift. All problems instantly solved.

Then, naturally, everyone around him takes advantage of his idiocy, leaving him out of the sect, kidnapping his girl, etc, and he doesn't even plan to get back at them. Just rolls over and figures that the system will solve his problems. <<less

All the characters are morons. The story pretty much ignores any sort of focus on actually being a druid, or exploiting the potential of a personal space, it's all just fighting with the people he's pissed off. Except it's worse than the standard xianxia formula, since the fight is stupidly pointless.
The protagonist even has a chance early on to leave and start fresh in a new city, but he and his enemies both decide that they need to be in the same place so that they can finish destroying... more>> one another. Every major background character has motives that make basically no sense and only work if those character have zero interaction with their social environment. <<less

Naruto fanfiction where the author doesn't realize that the setting isn't a cultivation world, and then adds a gatcha mechanic and other pointless complications, all at an utterly ridiculous pace.

I also found a lot of the same things irritating as the others that gave it poor reviews. Cliches, stupid behavior, unbelievable romantic progression, etc. The thing that stuck out to me though was how dumb the back-story was. He was a special forces agent, but then had a crisis of conscience after some of his subordinates died, and then became a mercenary who not only succeed at every single mission but also hunted down and killed anyone that tried to order a mission against China's interests. The backstory alone... more>> is a horrid pile of crap, and he relies on it constantly. <<less

Fantasy rendition of the Three Kingdoms period, with an Elven transmigrated protagonist that uses his knowledge of Earth's history to exploit the the similarities. Somewhat different from the cliche when it comes to elves, in that they are not portrayed as glass cannons, instead they are the most powerful race, while humans are the ones seen as fundamentally incapable of accomplishing anything great. Though fortunately the protagonist is an elf in this instance.

The method of cultivation may be unique, but everything else is cliche. He chooses the method most focused on brute force, he shows up the fiance that wants to annul the engagement while having kept his cultivation a secret from even his family. Same old stuff. He even uses that hilariously stupid line "don't blame me for being ruthless" at one point.
