The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System

I absolutely adore this little gem of a novel! Shen Yuan is a human from our world who, upon dying, transmigrates into the cultivation novel "Proud Immortal Demon Way". However, the character he transmigrates into is none other than the stallion protagonist's abusive cannon-fodder teacher, Shen Qingqiu. He resolves to avoid the original goods' fate of having his limbs cut off and made into a human stick, and diligently works to repair his relationship with the other characters in the novel and hug the protagonist's thighs. As SQQ, he's absolutely... more>> hilarious, maintaining a cool and lofty appearance while going crazy inside. Somehow, with his cleverness and kindheartedness, this lazy, fussy, but loveable man truly changes the story, to the point where everybody cares for him and his little apprentice Luo Binghe falls for him!

This story made me laugh like no other. The humor is totally my style. The shameless system is hilarious and SQQ's brutal tsukkomis are the best! But what I really love is the sense of warmth running through the whole novel--everybody is really well-fleshed out and human, and you end up caring about them, from the cannon-fodder bullies to the hapless author, Airplane shooting to the sky (what a name!). Speaking of the main characters, they really caught my heart and I love their dynamic so much. Luo Binghe's love is deep as the sea, high as the mountains, wide as the oceans, and SQQ is endlessly indulgent of his sticky disciple. Binghe's idea of heaven is basically to live with his Shizun in their bamboo house, cooking his food, combing his hair, and waiting on him each and every second until the end of time.

This is the only novel that I can really say I found absolutely unputdown-able (not a real word but you get the idea). Touching, warm, funny, it just pushes all my buttons. I devoured all available translated chapters and am hungrily awaiting each chapter as it is translated. It invites comparisons with the author's most popular work, MDZS, which does have a richer plot and incredibly interesting and tragic villains, but this novel is still dearer to my heart. In fact, I think I can say that this is really my favorite novel. I'm glad to have read it. ≪3 I hope other people can also share the pure joy of enjoying this amazing novel! <<less

God Level Summoner

I wish this series would go on for a a few more hundred chapters. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if it basically became One Piece, with no discernible end in sight. However, without Old Cat, I guess it wouldn't be the same anymore, so I understand why it stops just short of 400 chapters, because it's essentially his story. The reason why I want it to go on is because it's such a comfortable read, just like Loving Master's Wife. I can read just a chapter and then put it down... more>> at anytime without inwardly going 'noooooo'. But it's also interesting enough that I can binge tens of chapters in a row. The gaming is well-written and exciting, even for a gaming noob like me. The characters and couples are all interesting in their own way with different characteristics, so you'll definitely find a character you like. I personally enjoy them all.

I'm probably making it sound like it's boring af, but that's far from the truth. It's enjoyable, but not in a blood-stirring way, and that's a compliment. I recommend this even for non-gamers. The translator is also super fast, kudos! <<less

Rebirth of a Supermodel

this was the first novel I had to stop reading because I just had no interest in continuing. I wasn't even halfway through yet. I will say that MC is smart and self-sufficient, and ML is that rare breed, an overbearing president-type who genuinely respects the MC, but that seems like damning with faint praise.

First off, kudos to the translator for her great work and fine taste in novels. The translation is very natural and seamless.

Please don't be put off by the GV aspect--the summary almost makes it sound like an in-depth exploration of the "blackening" of a white lotus as he is forced into the vicious, sordid world of the adult entertainment industry. It is most emphatically not that. In fact, this is a sweet, delightful confection filled with comical misunderstandings, domesticity, and just gosh-darn wholesomeness. The GV in question is basically the... more>> purest, least shady adult video in existence. And the xx scenes are ACTUALLY GOOD! I could just cry.

I want to take a moment to emphasize this point, because how rare is that? This is legit the first danmei novel I've read where the xx scenes are legit hot and the dumbass tropes we're all familiar with aka "shou faints from lack of oxygen while kissing", "no lube needed because the gong's fiery passion will sufficiently lubricate his oversized jj/the shou's ass is mysteriously secreting fluid even if it's not an abo", "shou falls unconscious in the middle of getting xx'edand can't get out of bed for the entirety of the next day because the gong is just~so fierce and overbearing~", etc, do NOT appear at all. Like, I have read novels that I loved and I just quietly accepted these scenes thinking that they were just the way things written in danmei novels, but this story proves otherwise. Thank you, author! Just for that, I would have rated this a freaking 5/5. But the xx scenes do not merely avoid these awful, anatomically-incorrect tropes! They are actually incredibly hot and sensual, the best I have read in a danmei. I wonder if the fact that this is Taiwanese plays a role in it. If so, I really hope more Taiwanese danmei gets translated.

Now back to the novel: if this was just a pwp, it would still be excellent. But there's actually plot and characterization! The MC is a really simple, practical person. Just from the summary alone, we already know that he's a small-time actor who gets buried in debt because he got played by a friend. Honestly speaking, if this were another type of novel, he could have been portrayed as a tragic figure. But instead of treating this horrible betrayal as a cataclysmic event that throws him into despair, the author just shows him quietly doing his best to accept it and take the most practical solution to this problem, which is acting in a gay porn film. He never sits around wailing to all and sundry about his troubles, waiting for somebody to rescue him. He just gets up and does what has do be done. ML at first seems like a cold, overbearing-president type, but he's full of pleasant surprises and I ended up liking him so much more than I thought I would.

I don't want to spoil this story any further as it's so short (sadly) that I'd end up summarizing the whole thing at this rate, so I'll just say that both MC and ML are really lovable, decent, admirable people who are in a healthy, respectful, loving relationship. Think about how unusual those adjectives a typical danmei and you'll see what a rare delight this pure cinnamon-roll of a novel is.

Please do yourself a favor and give this novel a try. (ノ◕ヮ◕) ノ*:・゚✧ <<less

Rebirth of the Wolfish Silkpants Bottom

All the criticisms leveled against this are valid, but I really enjoyed it anyway. Kudos to the translator for her hard work in getting so many chapters out!

Basically, Xiao Ning lived his past life miserably, working tirelessly for his manipulative mother and thankless little brother Shu Yao. He even took the fall for them when one of their many schemes against his big brother, Shu Heng, fell through, yet despite all he'd sacrificed for them, they never even visited him when he was imprisoned. It was only when was mortally... more>> injured in a prison riot that he finally realized that Shu Heng was a good person. He died regretting helping plot against him, and thought that he should have sided with his kind big brother instead.

He then wakes up back in his 13-year old body. Given a do-over, he determines to live his best life. And he goes and does it! As much misery as he had to endure alone in his past life, he gets more love in his new one than he could ever have dreamed of. The whole novel is basically (nearly) everybody spoiling Ning Ning, with his lead fanboy being Shu Heng. He is able to enjoy a warm family with the loving trio of his big brother, dad and grandfather that he had never felt in previous life.

He also becomes a successful investor with his knowledge of the future, gathering loyal and capable cronies, and gloatingly "cleaning up" all of his former nemeses. Shu Ning had to work a bit to get Shu Heng to open his heart to him, but once Shu Heng accepts him, they basically become sickeningly sweet couple who only have eyes for each other, cuddling (and in the later chapters papapa-ing) everywhere.

I personally loved all the interminable scenes of Shu Heng feeding him congee, drying his hair, princess carrying him etc., as well as the Shu family scenes where he's basically everyone's precious baby. I've reread the first half so many times (the latter half is like a freaking summary, so rushed!). I will admit that Shu Heng's deep love and care for Shu Ning basically taps into my id, which is a huge part of why I like this novel so much.

Recommended if you like: possessive, extremely doting MLs and clever, spoilt-prince MCs. <<less

It’s Not Easy Being Your Love Rival’s Big Brother

made me laugh a lot so I added a half star: rated 3.5! I had second thoughts and tried to round up to 4 instead but I can't change it?

has lots of cute and laugh out loud moments. Humor is subjective, so I guess some people do not like this type of humor, but it fits my tastes. With that said, the characters do feel a bit 2d. And that's okay! Not everything has to be deep with a meaningful backstory. I enjoyed this for what it is--a fun story.... more>> I've even reread it, and it's still as enjoyable the second time around. I will probably reread it again in the future. Thanks as well to the translator for the nice translations.

Everyone Thinks that I Like Him

rated as 3.5, rounded up to 4 because the freaking shangye number really really made me laugh. It's basically the 3rd main character. At times funny, at times heartwarming, this is a great story that starts with a misunderstanding and ends with two people who have built a life together and have a lifetime's worth of love in their future. Has an almost wistful tone that gave off the feel of a manga done in watercolors, especially near the end. Recommend it for a feelgood read with some good laughs.

Rated as 3.5, but the rating system doesn't allow half-stars.

I enjoyed this novel. It has a lot of the usual tropes, such as an OP ML, the fantasy world races (angel, elf etc), collecting a whole football team of little bros and sisters, but there are some unique points as well. I thought that the main character Du Ze was quite sweet--he's shy and retiring due to being bullied for his impaired hearing, and has difficulty speaking for the same reason. ML basically had the humanity bled out of him... more>> due to being betrayed by everybody that he loved, so when Du Ze finds him, he's not inclined to trust anybody at all. However, "some small, cute person" basically healed his heart with the power of a steadfast and pure love.

Cute, readable, with lots of plot and H scenes, I think this is a novel that everybody can enjoy. Good translation as well from a great translation team. They pick a lot of great projects that fit my taste. It just didn't wow me so I couldn't rate it as a 4, but I still recommend it! I'm just nitpicky af. <<less
