A Will Eternal

Absolutely fun and fresh novel. All the hilarious moments you can think of in ISSTH have been condensed into one shameless, fatty (literally) MC. The MC has an inordinate amount of fear of danger but will do anything it takes to preserve and lengthen his lifespan granting him an inhuman level of willpower to do whatever he sets as a goal.

Expect: MC and friends getting fat, turtles, next level pettiness, and a magical stove.

Absolutely fresh novel because of the hilarity of the author. Too early for a real review but starting from the second chapter, it really draws you into the world because of the detail to characters and hilarity. Conflicts (of the one seen so far) have been taken care of realistically and diplomatically and does not involve the whole typical xianxia "I will rip you a new asshole cause you didn't give me all your money".

Additionally, this is probably one of xianxiaworld's best translations in terms of quality. It definitely reaches... more>> the level of quality seen at gravity and wuxiaworld which makes reading such an effortless pleasure. <<less

Quite early but the MC is a poor, shrewd, shameless man who found a special item holding an ancient spirit willing to teach him the ways of making talismans, medicinal pills, and other rare treasures.

MC is hilarious and full of character. Quite similar to Zuo Mo in World of Cultivation in his penny pinching ways. For the first couple chapters, it seems to break some of the common xianxia tropes (rare treasures from 10, 000 years ago has become common grass, a dumb useless beauty, and some others) but still... more>> too early to be riveting.

tl;dr Novel is quite interesting with funny MC but not enough chapters to tell if the story is a BTTH copycat. <<less

Dominating Sword Immortal

Warning: I may be biased as I am the current editor

Main character is quite level headed. He takes on what he knows he can take on, and will shoot for third place if first is too difficult (shocker in xianxia). Granted, so far, the story does not have too much "excitement" that causes people to desperately want the next chapter. However this novel is on the top fifty of all time novels of all genres and top 20 of all novels in its genre so fingers crossed for exciting plot... more>> development!

Edit: So after editing this novel for awhile, I realize this author really likes to throw in really random things that were never there before (i.e. The ending of ch 49 where author goes oh yeah this is stronger than this other-thing-which-I-have-never-mentioned-before) which makes the TL and I blow a fuse trying to figure things out. But other than that Ye Chen is still hidden op MC <<less

First off. HOLY HELL PEOPLE WHY IS THIS NOVEL'S SCORE SO LOW. Realistically this novel should trend at a 4.3. This really makes me question the average NUFian's maturity/amount of sophistry that they expect while reading. It really feels like a lot of the bad scores were given because the MC was duped in the beginning and he uses a musical instrument causing readers to drop because "NO OP MC? NO IMMEDIATE POWER TRIP? DROPPED."

Serious review time:
This is a classic TJSS novel which means 10/10 on world building. It... more>> is a fantasy world filled with dragons, elves, beastmen, and behemoths (no clear description but I imagine them like the ape titan from Attack on titans) that more closely aligns itself with western (fantasy) influences than eastern. It has a pretty interesting system set up where each person cultivates as a mage (which is divided into light, fire, dark, spatial, summon, water, and divine instruments) or as a martial artist (so far you only see assassins or some kind of warrior mounted on a dragon). The MC dual cultivates in divine instrument magic and eastern martial arts. He fuses the two into a formidable art that is reminiscent of the fight scene in Kung Fu Hustle of the blind musicians. Honestly, the MC is very different from your average CN xianxia MC (at least up to the chapter 133 where he starts to become more generic). He is naive due to essentially growing up in a bamboo forest sheltered from the world to learn the zither in a pure unadultered manner. After about 40 chapter, he begins to smarten up and dominate. Some may not like it because there won't be as much intense physical action for the first 50 chapter but rather a type more magical music battle that affects the soul. However, around chapter 60 he starts busting out moves more reminiscent of doulou dalu.

Tl;dr great unpredictable plot with great world building. Don't let a 12 year old's rating fool you into thinking character building is a sh*t plot <<less

Senketsu no Elf

This story is a dark fantasy about a war between elves and humans. Elves have the power of organic necromancy which has the power to turn the corpses humans into ogres, orcs, and goblins. While humans have the power of inorganic necromancy which has the power to imbue the power of the elements into their tools of war. The story begins with a our main character who has a seen first hand the beginning of a bloody, cruel elven invasion which tears apart the MC's village.

This story is dark... more>> and gritty with a main character who has been twisted by the cruelty of the elves. A story that hits the heart with hurt, love, pain, and rage of the characters' experience. +5 stars for the no nonsense profession of love between the MC and his beloved that you usually never seen from those stereotypical spineless 12 year old MCs in Japanese LNs <<less
