Praise the Orc!

Finally, a VRMMO novel filled to the brim with burning manliness. Feel the honor and dignity of a race vilified as monsters, look past appearances to the noble soul within!

"You have managed to form a hot friendship with the tiger" - ****ing lmao, can this sh*t get any better? I feel like I'll start having hormone problems from all the testosterone pumping through my veins

Not a huge fan of the rape scene in the first job he does for Derek. We get it, rape happens, why does every mildly realistic fantasy story feel like it needs some poor woman/women getting raped to demonstrate how Villain Group A is evil?

Tentative review.

The "Heartwarming" tag is definitely appropriate here. The MC hit a rut in life through no fault of his own, but his curiosity and dedication give him the drive and opportunity to set his life on a new course. MC has a great attitude and is a great son/brother who loves his family as much as they love him. Looking forward to seeing more of him in the future; hopefully the vibe stays the same.

Currently rating a 5 for the warm fuzzies, not far enough in the TL to... more>> make any real judgment on the story. <<less

MMORPG: Rebirth of the Legendary Guardian

Tentative review.

A well executed if not particularly imaginative entry in the genre of reincarnated VRMMO players trying to change their future.

The best part of this so far is that the author 1. Keeps the action moving and doesn't waste time describing the exact minutiae of every move the MC makes, and 2. Keeps the game mechanics/skills simple and easy to understand without dumbing them down too much. This allows him to focus on the what rather than the how, leaving the reader to fill in the blanks with their imagination... more>> (and isn't that a great part of reading?)

If it continues on at this level, it will be a solid 4 stars:
Worth reading if you like the genre a lot or are totally new to it, but not if you are tired of the tropes. <<less

This is a tentative review.

Currently I would give this 4.5/5, it's got a few things in particular going for it. The first and most important is the pervasive sense of strangeness that fills the story. It's very easy to feel how alien everything happening around the MC is. This has the highest potential of any cultivation story I've read including my personal favorites A Will Eternal and Five Way Heaven (though the latter is not very far in its translation). I hope the author does not let down the great... more>> work he's done setting the tone and building the sense of mystery and wonder present in what I've read so far. The second is that, as of yet, this does not seem to be a level up style character progression. I don't mind that sort of plot device at all; it can be an easy way for the reader to track where the MC stands relative to important figures in the story, and it is appropriate lore-wise for many stories. But it just wouldn't fit here without a major tone shift or a different way of presenting it than the ningmai/jindan or qi condensation/foundation establishment sh*t.

Dock half a point for the slow introduction, which is also very wordy, that takes too long to get you hyped up, as well as a personal pet peeve: when people have seen like the eighth ****ing worldview smashing thing in a day, at least a good portion would realize that clearly things are different for good, and it's time to start thinking about how to deal with it rather than be constantly astonished/afraid/in denial. Really, at least some people would care more about surviving than being all "woe is me" about it. Thankfully the MC has an appropriate attitude.

Side note, I like the foreshadowing about the ex and her family, very interested to see that plot point brought up in the future. <<less

I started reading this based on the few reviews available. If I had to describe what I've read so far with one phrase, it would be a classic in the making. The top notch translation makes the already unique tone of this story shine.

What a great beginning, I fell deeply into the main character's journey along the path of the demonic dao. I love the author's portrayal of the utterly realistic events that lead to him deepening his understanding of power, and further his comprehension of his dao. When the... more>> author describes the MC having an epiphany, I am right there with him.

I can only hope it remains the same level of quality.

EDIT: Wow, can I say how much I'm looking forward to the upcoming chapters after 87? <<less

I'm enjoying this one so far. There's a good setup for the main character's circumstances prior to the arrival of the "system", and the laid back pace goes well with the subject matter. I like the focus on the characters, the author gives the backstory of relatively minor characters like the early customers. I'm curious to see if that trend continues. The restrictions of the system make for some entertaining moments, and despite seeming overly restrictive and somewhat arbitrary have their own rationale.

I dock a point for some of the... more>> qualities of the "system": namely that he doesn't have to work AT ALL in order to learn the dish (es).

EDIT: The more I read, even though some of the system bothers me, I'd give it a 4.5 if possible. Still not worth being rounded up to a 5, regardless of how much I enjoy reading it. <<less
