This has been a fun novel.

It is easy to read and the system the author presents seems a natural fit to the story.

The plot is fairly straightforward, but the in-novel scenes are nicely varied with many settings and many situations. There are also a nice variety of characters.

It is refreshingly bare of severe angst or pain or betrayal issues. Such things are there very lightly and do not weigh down the writing or make reading a chore or some sort of vicarious torture of the reader.

This is a fun story that doesn't sink into melodrama, an easy light read.

The setting is modern post-apocalypse, super-power "evolutions", aliens who trade power boosters and food with only a few people, and a main character who has come back in time.

To me, it reads a lot like LitRPG without too much focus on hard numbers (I assume they are there, just not the main focus for the reader).

So...a mixed review.

TLDR: fun, light, nice to binge, don't take it too seriously, good for easy reading.

First off it is a nice light read to just binge - no serious plot points or details to remember. And if you forget anything the author seems to repeat anything important a few times before it pops up again. I liked the simple easy read. Also the TLs seem to release new chapters at a very quick pace, which is a huge plus for me.

There are a number of tropes here - the... more>> ones that mattered to me are the [Status] window, the eventual inventory, the tropes of differing individual powers, the MC being the only one (so far) who can customize their stats, the "other world", various mythologies, good guys, bad guys, good sensei, various relationship ones (for the MC, who is the focus for pretty much everything).

I thought all the tropes were honored nicely without doing a deep dive into any of them.

So, some bad-ish things. The author repeats sometimes - seems a lot more frequent because it is so blatant and directly 2 or 3 times in a row so that it is annoying when it happens. The author does seem to have inconsistencies in the rules, but it isn't really critical. The translators do make spelling and grammar errors and such, but since it is just a simple easy read it did not bother me that much. <<less

I am really liking this story, and the translation has been pretty good (great at the start, less so in the past 10-20 chapters).

My first attempt stopped after chapter 3 or so (with the "rape-upcoming" flag) - it seemed to just another bullying and social nastiness novel.

I recently came back to it and have been flying through the chapters!

... more>> It is NOT a bullying or rapetastic novel in any way. The MC is reasonable and has good success and the readers don't have to look at constant powerlessness and bullying.

The story has been pretty good so far, it moves at a quick pace and the changes come too fast to get bored with any 1 aspect. <<less

Necromancer Girl’s Strongest Second Playthrough

This seems to be the girl version of wish-fulfilment stories.

It is light and fun and easy to read. The TL is fine, and better than most.

The story seems set up to be a long quest line, only the MC has gone back in time and knows most of what needs to be done without stumbling around and waiting to be given each step of the quest. Still, it is written in a quick-read fashion, with 1 to 4 chapters per episode one can pick it up and put it down... more>> without trouble.

There also seems to be a semi-awakening to lesbian feelings here (not sure what the official genre name might be).

The style seems consistent to me throughout the first 20 chapters - so the first few chapters will let you know if you will like the rest.

I am looking forward to any future chapters. <<less

This is a silly but fun story. Like popcorn, lite and easy to take in little bites, that has no real value beyond momentary enjoyment.

Basics: super short chapters, not much depth, episodic, action/humor, taking advantage.

Overall: I liked to read it while exercising, mindless but non-offensive distraction.

I just caught up to the latest translated chapter. I've enjoyed reading through this story so far.

The writing is a bit annoying with the usual 3 paragraphs of repeating the same thought (why do they do this? Is it some wordplay that the translations can't convey?).

The story is quite enjoyable, as is the nice pacing of the author. Also, when the romance started coming in I started dreading the expected slog through a bog of feelings/drama/etc, but it turned out okay. It actually fit into the story and added to... more>> it rather than dragging it down.

I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it is a nice read that has a nice balance of hero, horror/barbarity, social stuff, combat, and forward planning. The author never gets "stuck" on any 1 thing for too long - each chapter and event feel just the right length to me.

Some of the character development mechanics seem weird to me. It might be that I just don't get it or that the author either didn't explain it well or possibly didn't think it important enough to detail. <<less
