There are little to no romance. Author makes it seems as if MC do a lot romance, but in actuality there's none. The early girls in first few hundred chapters never reappear again other than few mentioning. His current girlfriend rarely appear in recent chapters, as well as their honeymoon time. In addition to that, author describes MC as passionate about love and "want to capture offender". However, over the course of years, he rarely care to visit his girlfriends and only care about cultivation. In other word, MC's action and author description are totally off.
MC and heroine are hinted to be in love for 1000+ chapters. During the midstory, they have talks about marriage engagement as well as how heroine family will oppose. Yet, in the end, they do not marry because MC doesn't want to "drink" and heroine doesn't want to have "kid".
After all foreshadowing of this relationship, they abruptly stopped it at the end of the novel due to reason (per author's interview) that he "already have a lot of novels with good ending".
Most of the plots are "repetitive", "arrogant", and "cursing". All of villains are one dimensional, and there are many time where MC will have to kneel or beg the villain to let his women go. Some of the elements that brought up early in the stories are completely discarded.
The author very like to prolong the plot for sake of milking money. For example, a conflict that could've ended in 300 chapters are postpone to nearly the end of the story. By the mid of the book, you always Then the resolution of the conflict is mediocre, destroying all the building up climax.
The system (and parody) are actually the interesting point. However, there are many cases where Author just choose to drop some conflict or
A lot of badly written and prolonging stories. The author was "definitely" trying to milk up money. Some of the conflict are created unreasonably, especially with kidnapping the girls.
1) Xue'er, the main girl, is pursued since the start of the story (chapter 3). However, they actually end up together (truly together) by the end of the story (chapter 2000+).
At the beginning of story, MC was going to get her back at the arranged marriage. Then about ~800 chapters, the marriage happened. MC managed was going to save her, but she was poisoned by with some soul poison. To cure that MC has to break through to above realm (2nd). He went to above realm and find no antidote to poison until he became King of that realm (2nd) at around ~1500. He went back with cure and found out that 30000 years has passed and Xue'er (and other girls) are grasped by God King from above realm (3rd). So, he went there and get himself into to peak and got the girls back at around ~1800. They reunited briefly, then he was killed and sent back to Earth by the ULTRA MEGA BOSS whatsoever. He spent another 200 chapters to get back. Then we have no more scenes, MC is busy trying to beat the bosses. Axed ending then happened at 2150.
2) Yi Yunmeng girl was poisoned at around 900~1000 chapters. She was actually cured around the end of the arc (~1500).
At the start, the poison was made as if very dangerous (break her face + her cultivation). MC seeks all around to just cure her poison, and she was badly injured by it. Later on, it was suppressed to the point that she has her face back and her cultivation restored to a degree. She then works like normal girl as if there's no poison at all. By 1500, the poison is just briefly mentioned as cured, as if it isn't a big deal anymore.
1) Relationship with his girls are considerably good at first. However, most of the girls are one dimensional and ultimately "damsel in distress". They never have power to fend off themselves, can only either 1) kneel beg for MC's life or compromise with villain or 2) shout MC name for rescue. They will be kidnapped a lot. I mean A LOT. It is very frustrating to see how weak the plot is. You'll find it very common scenario: MC gets the girl. MC went to another place. MC went back and the girl is kidnapped.
2) There are some of the early girls (realm 1) that are totally thrown out of the windows after the Author built their relationship early in the story (0~500 chapters). Basically, MC went back to realm 1 (1500~ chapter) and found out that the whole realm was destroyed. He started with 10 girls in the realm, he only left with 3. The other 7 girls that he was romantically involved (a lot of scenes during 100~500 chapters) are KILLED. The other 3 are kidnapped by Gods from above realm (realm 3). I don't get why
Writing is pretty bad. Author uses a lot of curse word such as "Your daddy" "F**k" "MotherF**ker" etc. Sometime, the author totally skip scenes between chapters. For example, chapter XX is about MC striking down a boss. Chapter XX+1 is about MC going to shopping weapons in a town. There's a hugeee gap between some of the chapters.
MC will slaughter country after country just to expand his lands. His goal is to dominate the (game) world. On the other hand, he would force the enemy girl from country which he wiped out their entire clan to be his "concubine" just to gain some "game merit". They are treated as lower than slave, where they would be imprisoned forever since MC only care about the merits. When one of them tried to revolve, she was stripped naked in front of everyone just for the humiliation.
There will be a lot of netori. Where the MC will force (or clan will force) girls who already have their husbands or lovers to become his "concubine". Even married women with kids. Some of them will give up own husband for MC, since that's how ancient world works (?) when women are up against a tyrant. Later on, MC does "rape" girl casually by using some sort of aphrodisiac finger skill just to get information or make the girl turn into his slave.
For instance, there's one scene where he aphrodisiac-rape an enemy maidservant, so that the maidservant would let him into a female general house. Then he aphrodisiac-rape the female general, so that she would let him into the empress palace. Then he aphrodisiac-rape the empress so that she would turn against the emperor and side him (and give him her daughter).
At ch. 3300~, MC finally going to battle the big boss after he digressed from his main objective for long. In one chapter, MC got wiped out clean.... reborn 1 million years later and restart his cultivation over again. Basically, start from 0 as if 3300 never happens (all characters are gone, MC cultivation and preparation for the last 3300 chapters are gone).... What??
This is ultimately a faceslap by author on readers.
For so long, author has been making money out of ED. Then as ED is reaching the end of its life. He just reset it so he can continue making more money. That's enough to say it all.
MC keep using same methodology that we see in volume 1. Other than this type of planning, MC never excel in anything else. He failed many time to brilliantly rescue his girls and ended up being the loser.
It gets to the point where if MC girls are capture, MC will have to bargain the enemy. He usually follow the bargain and get "reneged promise" by villain. Sometime, he could ended up being lied to by villain many time that it ended up in injury or death of his girls (but... they can be resurrected!) OR some plot armor kicked in to save the day.
Toward the end, you can expect a lot of re-usage of plots. I can't stretch this enough. You'll find a lot of
For example, his underdog story. For example, his wives being brainwashed or kidnapped or disappeared are used for over several times. I do not exaggerated this
It's been... around 2k chapters since we first discovers her. She has been cured and rebrainwashed for at least 3 times. As of ch3373, she is still in brainwashed state and can't recalled MC. MC is still trying to find a cure for her.
This is an example of many plot being repeated.
Other than that, wife disappearing. When she is found, she was forced to disappear by some random reason within hundred chapters after she is found. Now they are still missing..
MC is always underdog, even if his cultivation is the same as enemy. He will always be in backfoot, even though all "heavenly defying" techniques he has. For example, some guy of same realm as him can mindcontrol his wife from miles away, while he can't do anything about it and is subjected to his overwhelming power.
The harem waifus are safe and fine. Most of them will be at the base, so they won't participate in war. Only some capable wuxia girl will follow MC occasionally. There is not many conflicts between waifus, rather they are all focused on the war rather than family conflict.
Candidate harem members really have it hard though. One is married politically by her family (though they never sleep together I think), and her family is part of the royal of this dying dynasty. Most her family is basically dead by latest chap I read. Another one turns into sour relationship with MC because of her ideology to save the current dynasty, which ultimately a futile attempt. Then there's one more, if you count, that internally admires MC but hates him for killing her family-- so she's with enemy camp (i think)
At first, it starts with lust. It becomes love through mid-story. However, by the end, he eventually lost all interest in his wives. He had been on his own lone crusade against alien and on a mission to create living environment for mankind. His changes come from the fact that he kept evolving into "4-dimensional" being, which makes him lost all carnal desire and sense of kinship. By the end of story, all his wives passed away (except one) without seeing him for over 30 years. They all lived in a peaceful homeland, yet died with regret.
The only one alive actually sent him a message (30 years ago) asking about when he'll be home. She rejected to see him when he actually came back, due to how much he left them out. Afterward, she is never mentioned again (presumably they never reconcile until she died).
Basically it's a price to pay for MC, because he eventually lost all his sense of humanity and kinship. He didn't feel attached to his wives anymore after all these 4d war and evolution. In the end, he became a Godlike figure, but at the cost of losing everything that is important to his past humanity.
