Common Sense of a Duke’s Daughter

One of the best reincarnation Oujo-sama stories I’ve read yet. As the MC doesn’t have a clue about the future as the ending already happened when she gets there. She’s the "rival villainess girl" and gets her “bad end, " yet she’s still trying to prevent any further negative consequences. She doesn’t get the “prince” and her rival "the main girl of the game" can be all lovely dovey with him. She doesn’t care, It’s all about her rising up and building a brand empire. With memories of her past... more>> and current life, she navigates through politics and business. There’s no action in that sense but there’s a lot of glorious drama. It’s a very good and quick read. There are hints of a romance but that is put on the back burner.

It’s funny how we see the other side of how the main girl of shoujo manga’s are usually air-headed, stupid and not to their own benefit but detriment. They wouldn’t survive in the real world. It also shows how providing care for "everyone" leads to extravagant futility. That the prince was actually a wasteful moron as well. This includes everyone in the "main girls" harem, who having some positive qualities and look beautiful are inept to the real world, blind to reality.

So far so good. <<less

A Japanese-fantasy take, on a combination of "The Man in the Iron Mask" and "Gladiator, " two good stories to combine actually. It's a case of how mistaken identity and noble subterfuge play around. Not everything is how it seems. There's a lot of royalty, politics, and mind games that go on throughout the story and it's pretty excellent so far. While there are some muddling parts, the author takes great lengths to explain the character's thoughts and actions. A great read for those who enjoy battle tactics, strategy, wars,... more>> and political drama. <<less

The Girl Who Ate a Death God

What a great story. This story is about the horrible elements around War. How the people suffer through death, injury and starvation. It includes the nastiness of politics and how inept leadership becomes because of it. This novel while it does have many heroic moments and feats does well to include the other side. This novel has a LOT of tragic moments and much suffering especially near the end. Please understand when reading this, war is horrible.

The setting for this novel is very simple. A kingdom under civil war with... more>> a rebellion against a tyrannical government. But not everything is simple as it seems. The rebellion isn't as righteous as they make themselves out to be. The surrounding countries look at the inner dispute with greedy eyes and hands.

The heroine is the product of War. She came to being because she was always hungry and in poverty. She joined the military for a simple reason, to eat and kill rebels. Schera gets a lot of friends and many enemies. Some try to pull her to their political struggle, others wish for her to fall in combat. She doesn't care about any of that as all she wants to do is eat delicious food with her comrades.

The novel is completely translated, 34 chapters + Epilogue + 2 side chapters = 37 chapters total (Much thanks to the translator and all in the credits) and the author's other works exist in near the same timeline and the same universe. The Sequel to this novel is "The Girl called Hero" <<less

This is an excellent series that focuses on dialogue, characters, and world building. It's another kind of Xianxia that's in my top 3 just because of the writing.

It is a slow compared to the typical chinese xianxia.

If you are looking for a smart lead protagonist that doesn't solve his problems through fighting then this is the novel for you. The writing is particularly well done with some insights into how characters interact and think. There are some politics at play and some espionage in the background. Characters act because of... more>> status or honor compared to how they feel. Cultivation is done by constellation and knowledge is power here as well.

While as of almost 200 chapters we haven't gotten to the main cause of trouble nor have any backgrounds to other characters been fleshed out. It's still a good read and it's more at a pace of a regular novel than a light novel. There's heavy descriptions and heavy insights into thoughts and actions.

If you are okay with actually reading (And I don't mean skimming like other typical chinese novels) and want a smart lead then this will give you some enjoyment. <<less

Wow what a story. At first it gets by pretty slow and it's hard to understand. Since it's building up her demon phase when she remembered her past life as a human. She thought of it as a beautiful dream and wants to become human even while she's a demon. Then she gets a new life as a human in another world with her past life as a demon.

This is where the story picks up, yet while she is a mesmerizing beauty and she thinks of herself as some weird... more>> abnormality. She's also attracted to very demon like things but everyone looks at her like an angel. There's a lot of drama going on behind the scenes with her family and the state of politics in the kingdom. She is very unaware of since she's a child and when it gets to the point that stuff hits the fan, it gets good.

Very similar to E? Heibon Desu yo?? But replace the fact that she remembers herself as a human with being a demon. <<less

This novel is excellent! It's a bit of a slow burn although. Translation gets kinda sloppy, but the story holds up! The names and the introduction gets heavy but as you go through the story is great. Shen Miao was an Empress in her previous life and someone who was known as a stupid girl. In her reincarnated life she wants to make everyone pay for ruining her, and her children and boy does she!

Very good if you like the political schemes, revenge, and the intricate gossip/rumors among noble ladies.

The... more>> male MC is also excellent, and I would love to see more romance, there's a little there, but Miao has other things on her mind like revenge! <<less

It’s really overly long and does go through cycles of rinse and repeat like everyone says (IE: Strong Villain introduced, power up, MC ops over everything, drama inserted here, MC kills villain/family/clan/school). Still if you want to read about an overbearing MC who is pretty much ruthless to his opponents then here is the novel for you. There are plenty of times when Chu Feng deserved being ruthless although and with the constant power-ups I don’t see an end that the author wants to give you. This is pretty much... more>> a standard cutout Wuxia/Xianxia. I’m giving it a 4/5 because I enjoyed it and pretty much knew what I was getting before going in and reading it. <<less

Believe the hype. This series is good, there's alot of RPG and MMO elements that play out pretty well. There are dark fantasy elements and the Author does a great amount of world building. There's already an anime out and if you watched it and thought that was good. Wait til you read this novel. Ainz IS the big bad evil dude but there is a progression that leads him there. This novel does not skip out on deaths, gore and violence. Not only does this novel included a lot... more>> of D&D spells and abilities but love craftian lore as well. There is a particular scene where Ainz summons children of the black goat of a thousand young and it is a grim glorious scene. Read it for yourself. <<less

Since it's by the same author, it's very similar to How to be a Virtuous Wife except this MC actually has a lot of hidden abilities coupled with her beauty. She's just super lazy and I love that about her. Hua Xi Wan doesn't even care about her husband most of the time. Also, she's very close with her family and she doesn't want to hurt them unlike other MC's.

I'd also recommend reading How to be a Virtuous Wife before reading this. Both are complete and fun reads.

This is pure comedy, don't come in expecting a hardcore serious story. There are some elements but mostly it's used to progress the story. This is basically a parody of the Xianxia Transmigrator stories. Li Fan is all about leveling up and using shameless skills which makes you laugh out loud reading. It's nothing special but it turns a lot of troupes on their head by turning them into comedy aspects. I had to give it four stars because it made me laugh so many times.

It's not perfect but it's... more>> a very hilarious and light read. <<less

Wow this is a really good reincarnation Xianxia. The plot moves quick and gets straight to the point with him reliving his life and trying to grow his power but without shortcut/cheat power ups. His growth is gained through his knowledge from his past life! We don't get a lot of pointless dialogue, everything moves through clearly. A really intelligent and like able MC. Since the MC clearly has past knowledge and uses everything to prevent his future from happening, it's very enjoyable. The author does a very seamless blend... more>> in exposition, world building and dialogue, very nice read. <<less

Pretty good read, In the beginning it was fantastic when the MC was pretty much in a trash body and married to a genius and beautiful girl. Then it does go through the Wuxia/Xianxia troupes and the constant power ups. Right now with the harem being constantly added and built I’m losing favor over it but it’s still pretty good. If you liked Martial God Asura, read this too.
