This is not a story for those looking for something sweet and nice. The couple here is a match made in hell haha. But the progression of the story was very good and the as well as the translation quality.

There are warning bells very early on... it just gets worse. Actually, nothing gets better. No redemption, only resignation haha.

I love these kinds of story so I'm giving it a 5 star rating.

The ML is crazy, in a vety seriously f**ked up way. The MC has a strong personality and not... more>> a push over which is a plus. But in the end, the ML is just too strong. <<less

Aww.... this is perfect for a short and sweet read. It's angsty fluff. (*๓´╰╯`๓) I do wish I could read the longer version.

The characters are paper thin, not much personality for either of the main couple. The Uke is weak, physically and otherwise. He's super insecure. He's the perfecr match for the seme who is the emperor, and as the emperor, he does have that sense of entitlement that could only come from being born in that kind of nobility. He has the typical "cold, unreachable king" vibe who only... more>> acts sweet and gentle around the uke. A cliché that will probably never lose its popularity.

I also have to say that the Empress is my favorite character here. In fact, most of the female side characters are a delight to read! A caring sister, a reliable head of Yeho's servant, and the surprisingly pleasant Empress (๑•̀ᄇ•́) و ✧

Yeho is a good, uplifting read, just don't have too high expections when it comes to the plot ( ̄▽ ̄) There's no external conflict in this story. Just a lot of melodramatic feelings from Yeho. <<less

Decent enough story with well-written/translated s*x scenes which is 90% of the reason I'm giving this a 5 star.

ML is your typical possessive and all-powerful seme who only shows his tender side to his love interest.

MC is an okay uke... he's not a complete wimp, but well, he's a bit passive... things happen to him and he just takes it lying down, though I must admit he has his charms. And his kinda-doormat personality is explained by his childhood upbringing.

I don't mind much the Stockholm Syndrom trope in romances, but... more>> other people will definitely have a problem with it haha. <<less

Cute read. There were a lot of things happening that took away a bit of screentime from the couple, but they did serve a purpose of establishing their relationship, though in the end, it did feel somewhat lacking...

Apparently there are other stories set in the same universe. Hopefully, we'd get a chance to read them too.

Edit, Some additional notes after finishing the story: The ending more or less redeems the story, but not to the extent that it's suddenly great. I just like how author-san left it at that.

I was rooting for genbu and for a second I was sure it was heading that way. but the ending where yuu had to reconcile with himself and his existence as a different entity from the previous yuu... that was a nice touch

[original comment.

written around ch 23]

I'm laughing so hard. This is soo bad it's good? Like. This is the kind of trash you read if you don't want to use your brain.

MC is transmigrated into the body of an otome game villain. He loses a huge chunk of memory at first, but he regains them (signalled by headache + flashback + fainting combo) whenever he meets significant characters.

Original villain is said to be this bitchy obssessive guy, but a series of interwoven discoveries show how he isn't just that, and that he has significant history with the love interests. And I guess, you kinda get how he morphed into a sad, sad, tragic villain whereas he was described once by the love interests as "angel" when they wherr kids since he just happens to be their childhood friend. In the original plotline, he's driven to commit suicide... I think. It was mentioned somewhere.

Everyone falls in love with the MC here. Also, s*x is treated very casually? And MC can do no wrong!

This might end up being a huge waste of your time, yeah. But entertaining read. Like, if you have nothing better to do or you're procrastinating big time. Plus, translations are just about to be done hehe.

Ngl tho. Once I finish this, I probably wont think about this ever again. <<less

One of the best BL stories I've read. The romance is seriously sloow buuurn, but it was definitely worth it! The progress between MC and ML felt natural. It wasn't love at first sight and it wasn't just feelings of gratitude turning into love. It was the mutual affections of two individuals who just fit together.

The first third of the story might feel a bit sluggish, but it does a wonderful job of establishing the characters and the environment/settings. And it goes without saying that Mo Shu (ML) 's village... more>> is one of the best parts of this novel.

MC is physically weak, but his mental fortitude is notging you can scoff at. Definitely not a damsel in distress type.

ML is introduced as this enigmatic figure--MC finds him childish and sloppy, yet the town shows him grst respect. He's charming though not without hudden depths that will be revealed bit by bit in the latter chapters.

Their dynamic just worked so perfectly. Ughk. And even the side characters are great!!

While I deeply enjoyed the romance, what I love most about this isn't the romantic entanglement of MC and ML. In some way, even their romance isn't the focal point of the story. Instead, it's the recuperation of the MC.

Although not explicitly stated, how the author portrayed Nan Ge Er (MC) is somewhat an accurate depiction of depression--the state of apathy towards your own existence (heed the trauma tag). And it really struck a chord in me how his recovery was handled. It wasn't ML's love that "cured" him; first and foremost, it was Guan Tian. Little by little, Nan Ge Er was able to reconcile his with his past life and brother's betrayal and was able to let go of his grievances. He was able to remake his identity and enjoy his simple day by day. And I dare say that it is a "rebirth" the surpassed his transmigration.

Reading this felt like floating in the ocean. Quiet and calm, but with an undercurrent of danger. It is soft, so very very soft, but neverthless, there is something foul underneath all that fluff. But no worries!! It's HE! ❤ <<less

The dynamic between MC and ML is amazing!!

I liked the plot and appreciated that even though it introduced harem member character from the original novel, it didnt take up a lot if unneccessary scenes.

I also appreciate how the MC didnt take too long or didnt act up too much before surrendering to the ML, though his circumstance ... more>>

did play a huge role in this.

Overall a fun read!! Definitely will go over through the volume-ender chapters again, since I'm really fond of helpless characters and suffering love interests. <<less
