Ascendance of a Bookworm

The concept is interesting at first, but all went down because the MC personality is for me very unlikable. She is very spoiled (for 22 years old) and very very selfish. She thinks of herself like a sheltered little princess. Being reincarnated in a poor family, she kinda looks down on them in a way. She has a very low EQ for sure as she only cares for her abnormal ambitions in making books and papers, without caring for her family and people surrounding her. And she is not that... more>> smart. I don't know what kind of books that she has read, but for a bookworm, not knowing how paper is made although she has admitted that she read all sort of books has proven that she is not that smart. And she is kind of clueless on the situation she is in and her surroundings. Maybe she just like to read without actually learn or think further about what is written in the book. The story is also very slow which is so disappointing. I am not recommending this and I am dropping this. It is not the least bit exciting. <<less

At first I gave it a 5, because it is one of the earliest novel within this type of genre and set up. I thought it offered a very interesting plot. I kept up reading it until the fourth volume. However, since around the third volume, I already started to think that it is getting boring. The story moves very very very slow. I know it is supposed to be a slice of life, however it is too much that it got boring, especially when the author is also pushing... more>> it too far for creating the harem where every single character, man or woman, are made to fall in love with the MC. The biggest flaw in this novel is that the author stretching the story too much but without giving a proper character development. Yes. It has zero character development for the MC and very little happened for the other characters as well. The MC was amusing and funny and a little bit silly (which got her bickname bakarina) but now she becomes extremely foolish and annoying. I consider dropping this at the moment. I would better use my time to read other more interesting novels. <<less

My Wife Always Thought I Did Not Love Him

I MTL-ed the raws so I don't know how accurate that is. But I can say from what I read that this novel is great. It is fluffy at some part but full of angst and drama as well. So many misunderstandings and so many
Spoiler

parties that try to break them apart, especially.. cough.. the mother.. cough.. And they really did break up.. ╥﹏╥ It is so angsty until everything is solved at the very last chapters.

So.... happy ending.... (づ ̄ ³ ̄) づ... yeayyyy...

I give it two stars for now.

First, I got attracted to this novel since it has very nice reviews and many people seems to like it. It seems very promising. However, to be honest, this is one of the most confusing and hard to understand novels I have ever read. Even after I read the chapters released by exilerebelstranslation (which I assume has done quite a good job in translating), my comprehension of the story, the world building, the characters' relationships are very lacking. So I blame the author for... more>> this. The first 15 chapters, the characters are all thrown to the story without clear explanation while I am still figuring out how the world works. What's worse, 1 character has 2-3 names, without clearly explaining what and why. There are their own names, their common names, and their title. And the author use all of them in the story which triple the confusion. The translator did help by creating a characters list, but it is not helping me much. Aside from the names, I do think the author's writing style is hell confusing and not flowing quite well. The story goes current and then goes flash back, back and forth, which adds to my confusion. I am disappointed that I don't get the joy I expected to have when I read this. I have read so many xianxia novels, so I am not new to this genre at all, so I wonder why it happens with this novel that makes me very difficult to enjoy this. I put this novel into my pending list now and wait until it has sufficient chapters and let see if I want to continue reading. <<less

I read this because of the almost all 5 stars review. I thought I am going to like it. But, I think I have too high expectation about this novel.

So far, the story is sort of a slice of life, where nothing really is going on in the story. The world building and the flow of the story could have been done so much better. Everything in this novel just jumps all over the place that I don't even understand what's going on anymore. I read the reviews that this... more>> is very funny... but I don't even laugh when I read this. Maybe it's just me, but I do think the humour is not relatable and the reference is just so hard to understand that I don't even know it is supposed to be funny. I don't know it is because of the author writing style or the missing nuance in the translation. What I feel is that it is a difficult reading, compared to other novels I have read (and I read a lot). Plus the characters are so unlikeable. <<less

The Legendary Master’s Wife

This novel is what introduced me into chinese novels and xianxia genre. Compared to other genre, the novel might seem to be very slow in the beginning (and the romance is slow as well). But the author build the story up very very nicely and cut each chapter at the right scene. The world building is perfect, so even I, who have never read any cultivation stuff, understand it perfectly. I really like You Xiao Mo (the MC) and Ling Xiao (ML) as well. The latter is very sweet to... more>> the MC. What funny is that the MC totally change his character and personality in the academy arc. At first, he is very cute and timid. But now, he is savage and pick fights often. Maybe because he has built up his confidence and he has the ML with him. I'm still getting used to the 'new' MC. Regardless, this novel is very very enjoyable.... :) <<less
