This is a unique world hopping novel, and not only because of the gratuitous amounts of smut. ... more>>
Spoiler

Seriously, the s*x scenes takes more than half a dozen chapters. ML has a stamina like a stallion and the MC has a recovery rate of a, uh, let's just say she bounces back quickly.

[collapse]

You might have the mistaken impression that this story is merely just a device to write smut
Spoiler

especially since as soon as she transmigrated into her first body she gets pounced on by the ML and loses her V card.

[collapse]
But if the smut was all that made this worth reading, I wouldn't be here leaving a review recommending it. The first world was merely a beginner's stage, with things getting progressively more complicated and therefore difficult for our transmigrator as she goes from one world to the next. The author appears to like setting Korean melodrama plots for each world that the FL has to overcome, so prepare yourself for buckets and buckets of angst.
Spoiler

Basic recipe for each world: MC transmigrates to a cannon fodder character, receives memories and wishes of said character, tries to fulfill them to compete her mission, and at the same make snu-snu with the male protagonist of that world, in order to "fuel" up (i.e., SEMEN, her fuel is semen) so she could move on to the next world. Don't ask me the mechanics of why that is, but MC really has no choice if she wants to survive. Obstacles to both of this things of course is the fated female protagonists of these worlds. Good thing then that she was "blessed" by the system with the optimum body for s*x.

[collapse]

The MC has to fulfill the wishes of the person whose body she has transmigrated into, with the added difficulty of having to balance between trying to remain objective and connecting to the feelings of said person, as there is always the danger she gets in too deep. She's not one of those genius, omniscient MCs that are always ten steps ahead, but she does well enough and she slowly improves. The MLs are the very opposite of self-aware, frustratingly oblivious to their own emotions, prone to wild goose chases, and the object of unrequited love for the female cannon fodders the transmigrator goes into.
Spoiler

The comeuppance is worth it though, when the ML finally realizes that he just might have lost the MC forever, it breaks him so completely to the point that he would rather live in a world of his delusion than face the reality that the MC is gone.

[collapse]
and more and more yandere of the MC as time passes.
Spoiler

In the latest chapter I have read, it also appears that all the MLs are iterations of the same person, who is in love-hate with MC and is pursuing her, to which MC is still ignorant of, although her system is vaguely sensing danger even if it couldn't pinpoint it

[collapse]

I will repeat my warning again: ANGST. This story has lots of angst. But if you are okay with going on a roller coaster ride with your feelings then by all means, read this story, because I promise that it is satisfying. <<less

Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil
June 29, 2017
Status: Completed
I'm always left feeling letdown after finishing a novel, because I crave more chapters, wishing that the story was never-ending. But this time, I don't feel dissatisfied or wanting. Like one reviewer has already said, this story is addictive. In fact, to call it a story is underplaying it, it's a little like a 1000 and 1 Nights, where the end of one story only means the beginning of another. I'm only getting more and more excited for each new chapter. So far I like every new setting introduced, and... more>> the way the author made something different with every new clichéd plot. Most of all I like the strong-willed and ballsy protagonist. Thankfully translation is fast and top quality, so all in all, a highly recommended read! <<less

Heroic Death System
February 2, 2018
Status: Completed
At last! At last someone finally picked up this novel! To those who like Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil, this novel shares a similar premise.

MC transmigrates to many different worlds (ie. ABO, fantasy, zombieland, sci-fi, etc.) but not always as a human, heh. And as stated, he has the duty to die heroically, hence the tragedy tag. So be prepared for lots of drama and misunderstandings.

The ML is in the same mould as ML from QWFD, super possessive. In fact, you kinda pity him as he keeps losing... more>> MC time and again, which doesn't do great things to his mental well-being.

I'd been hoping it would be picked up, and I'm grateful a high quality translator did, thank you! <<less

Warning: the story starts with ML killing MC, before she undergoes rebirth.

MC in the past was cannon fodder, while ML appears to be a supporting male character who is in love with the white lotus "female lead, " who ends up not with him but with the ostensible "male lead, " the guy MC was in love with and gave her all for.

I don't know if I would call it Stockholm Syndrome, as MC doesn't like ML, before and after rebirth. She comes to the realization that ML became who... more>> he was because of a screwed up childhood, and grew to sympathize with their similar childhood experiences. Her acts of kindnesses to ML are equal parts compassion and pragmatism. She comes off as tsundere to ML. I can already see how this story is going to go, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy reading it. <<less

Lord Seventh

Rebirth, unrequited love? Politics? MC already has gone through several reincarnations already but that's not what the story is about. What's important is that this is his seventh reincarnation, and with it he goes back in time, to his very first life. ... more>>
Spoiler

The MC, Jing Beiyuan, had the worst luck in that the one he was destined to be with for 7 lifetimes instead became his enemy, not his lover. Then he had 5 miserable lifetimes after that trying to get close to him, before essentially giving up and trying to drink from the river of forgetfulness but that didn't work out either. Now the story starts with the seventh and last life, and, he has complicated feelings? He claims all he wants now is a peaceful life, but, it seems he can't escape royal intrigues, and, he's trying to decide whether it's time to let go of his feelings REALLY BIG SPOILER The ML doesn't appear to be the man he was supposedly destined to be with, but someone else

[collapse]

The translation is very, very well done, which is fortunate as there seems to be a lot of references to Chinese mythology that might be confusing if all you've read (as I have) is the MTL. And also lots of political drama, which a good translation is absolutely necessary so you don't get lost (as I have) just by reading the MTL. <<less

Otome world, villainess as the MC, rebirth, angst. That about sums it out.

Highly recommended for those who understand the phrase "hurts so good."

The MC's life is an emotional desert. She would've been happier left to the household staff to raise, and only seeing her parents occasionally à la Victorian times.

Spoiler

Her father was a leading man in his own dog's blood love triangle between his obsessive unwanted wife and the other woman he loves and had a lovechild with. Emphasis on lovechild, because that is the only child he would ever truly acknowledge and love, his first daughter little better than air at best, an irritating pebble in his shoe at worst.

To add to paternal negligence, is a suffocating maternal love, that isn't really love at all, her mother only seeing her as a substitute for her father, forcing her to subvert her femininity so she could act out her needy mother's delusions. Is it any wonder she latched on to a literal prince charming, hoping he'd sweep her off her feet and rescue her from being unloved? Then snapped and went homicidally insane when her golden child sister rode off with him instead

[collapse]

Her family life caused her to act out in ways that led to a bad ending in her original life. In this second chance she has now, she has resolved to cause no fuss, and be as inconspicuous as possible
Spoiler

until she can finally fulfil her goal to be a nun. That's right. A nun. Because cutting herself from the rest of the world is the closest she believes she can get to happiness

[collapse]
However, I don't think this is a tragedy though (although so far, there are only valleys and no peaks). I think the author is going for delayed gratification. All this angst, means the characters have to work harder to get their happy ending.

I only hope that karma goes around, specifically for one person.
Spoiler

The father. O ye gods and little fishes, the father. Everybody else can be forgiven for their shortcomings: the MC who used to be queen bitch and is now running for martyrdom. Her friendzoned best friend who is determined to snatch the gold medal from her as the most self-sacrificing. The oblivious sister who just keep. Making. Things. Worse. The prince who either comes to conclusions too easily or else can't make up his damn mind. Even the stepmom, who it seems just doesn't care to exert effort to make the MC feel included in their loving family

[collapse]
Things would be so much better if that person never talked or looked in the general direction of the MC ever again. <<less

Professional Body Double

I haven't read the other stories from this author, but from what I've gathered they really like angst, unrequited love, and asshole MLs, so if drama and angst isn't your cup of tea, go now.

MC got involved with ML, and only later discovers to his heartbreak that ML was only using him as a substitute for his unrequited love, his sister's boyfriend, to whom MC bears a resemblance. MC tries to break it off, and ends up in what appears to be a fatal accident... only to wake up transmigrated... more>> into the body of a comatose person who shares the same name as himself.

He swore to make use of this second chance, and avoid ML and live his life. But fate has other plans.

Spoiler

MC meets ML, who fixates on him because of his uncanny resemblance to MC's original body, who ML refuses to believe is truly dead as there was no body recovered. MC just assumes ML is fixated on him because ML sees his resemblance to ML's brother-in-law again.

ML all these years is grieving for MC, whom he realized too late he was actually in love with. He was shaken to see the current MC and later coerces MC into a relationship as a substitute for the original MC, while MC just assumes ML is using him again as a substitute for his unrequited love, ML's bro-in-law.

The Scum Shou’s Survival Guide
December 13, 2018
Status: Completed
Ok, this story is like if one crossed "Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil" with that of "Heroic Death System, " but with an utterly shameless and quite selfish MC.

The MC fulfills his duty as a system transmigrator, which is to make the protagonist of that world fall in love with him. But once he completes his mission, before he leaves that world his MO is to "break up" with said protagonist, by which he acts like a scum character and betrays them.

He justifies this as his way of... more>> making sure that the protagonist will get over them and move on with their lives and do what they are supposed to do as the protagonist of their world.

However, that isn't quite how it works out. On fulfilling his last mission, the system informs him that no, he cannot recover the points he earned as a transmigrator, as instead of saving the worlds he transmigrated, he's destabilized them instead, as the protagonists of those worlds has blackened because of his last act of betrayal toward them.

He now has the new mission of re-transmigrating back to these worlds into his old avatars (which apparently weren't killed off by the system but continues to exist mechanically all this time), to see what has happened in the aftermath, and set the protagonist back to rights. Not an easy task as the protagonists at this point in time hates their guts and is obsessed with capturing them and getting their revenge.

Spoiler

As other reviewers have warned, the MC is utterly shameless :) and very, very selfish.

Some have accused him of being bipolar, as when he gets into character, he really loses himself in the role so that his thoughts as seen by the reader are purely in the POV of the character he is playing, method acting taken to the extreme.

He is the consummate actor, supremely devious and calculating three steps ahead of everyone else.

When he gets transmigrated back to his old character, where a varying interval of time has already passed from the time he had originally left, he has to deal with the consequences of his last acts in the world, and face the protagonist again. He manages to turn the situation to his advantage, and twist events to come out looking like a misunderstood martyr or victim, thereby making the protagonist regret his actions and reconcile with them.

MC seems to be very cool and detached about the whole thing, even accused by his own system as being callous and self-centered, which he unrepentantly admits to :) Whatever he feels about the protagonist, he is very clear about the fact that he can't truly fall in love with them, and that he has to complete his mission no matter what.

The ML meanwhile, has been blackened, meaning he lost all trust and his love has turned to hatred. He is obsessed with revenge against the MC, wanting to find him, capture and imprison him so they could never leave again. He is ruthlessly possessive and cruel in his treatment of the MC, who 'stoically' endures his abuse. It is only later that everything is revealed to be a 'misunderstanding' to his utter guilt and self-condemnation.

After MC manages to fulfill his mission, his character finally dies (traumatizing the protagonist again of course although he is no longer blackened), and he moves on to the next world he has to set to rights.

This is a refreshingly new take on an MC, as you might find him dislikable in his self-centeredness, but he is not completely unprincipled

Spoiler

breaking the heart of the protagonist is one thing, condemning millions to die is another,

[collapse]

and I think he is so good at deception he is also deceiving himself.

Moreover, each arc is really compelling and heart-rending and of course, irrevocably tragic.

Spoiler

It all comes back to bite him in the ass later though, as the ML doesn't take too well to the revelations it was all just an act to the MC
