Martial World

Spoiler

In simple words, the novel is practically similar to Mortal Cultivating to Immortal aside from the minor differences. Follows the common rule of most Xianxia of the existence of various planes and realms. I get Mortal vibes and also Coiling Dragon vibes from reading this series. It is interesting but goes bad after a while, turns good a bit and then 200 chapters later it goes down again. Does peak up a bit near the end.

MC is sh*t, which is similar to Mortal MC, until he gets his Golden Finger aka Special item. World is actually a small plane among the various other planes, which is similar to Panlong. Rather hard to describe how I feel about this novel without spoiling it, but at the same time it doesnt have much to describe.

Reading this with MGS and Mortal reminds me how similar Xianxia novels are to each other which causes me to pretty much predict the storyline and made it boorish to read. Good thing I chose a modern cultivating novel (仙源农场 loosely translates to Immortal Farm) to read alongside them.

Spoiler

The story follows Lin Ming's progression in life, from useless, to mortal, to human, to cultivator, and skipping various other stages he reaches the world peak. Thus why I said this reminds me of Panlong. Although he went through various troubles on the way, he solves it easy with the ever present plot guard and his Special. The story doesnt seems to completely end there though, since Human Emperor aka Lin Ming tries to pinpoint the coordinate of the Purple Card of the Trinity (Cube Pearl Card) and his missing wife that was sent thru spacetime rip near the end of the novel. And thus comes True Martial World. So basically if you want to know what happens after go read True Martial World, except that it wont be via Lin Ming's POV since that would be lame and thus we get another useless mortal who obtains his Golden Finger, somewhat dies and reborn and cultivates, note here, TMW MC is possibly from the normal Earth, so the Purple Card actually are lodged between Earth and the TMW world. Hopefully it wont go the same way as the last novel. Side note, although Martial World's world seems to be based on a principle of 33 Heavens (the 3x3=9 thing, where 9 is symbol for immortality, although it is actually 33Heavens + 3 Heaven Seeds based on the novel), True Martial World felt more like a chessboard, with pits.

A Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality
June 9, 2016
Status: Completed
I read this alongside Martial God Space, a welcome read during the wait for new MGS chapters.

A great read, the title is pretty much the whole story. You follow the story of how Han Li cultivates into being an immortal.

Spoiler

The whole story is all about one dude cultivating and doing his best to stay alive in the cutthroat world of cultivators. He tries his best to cultivate, ignoring most other things in life other than cultivating, trying his best to not have enemies, and pretty much try to stay alive. Every realm he cultivates into he gains extra lifetime, but still not an immortal, so he has to cultivate more. And when he becomes immortal, the story ends. Rather cliffhanger type of ending, but I suppose it was expected since the title already describes the story.

[collapse]

Hopefully the author have plans to make a sequel. I really liked Han Li. Only Han Li. The story gets boring at times but Han Li is the reason I kept reading. <<less

Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu

This novel is good. It uses the common isekai summoning trope and adds a twist to it. MC that was supposed to be the hero ends up being an extra, and 2 random (or not) people that he had met or contacted in the past was taken as the hero in his stead. He ends up at the literal edge of the world (of the world), barely surviving a freefall, have Tsukuyomi buff him, and survived.

What I find interesting of this novel isnt the MC nor his people. It is... more>> the way the author likes to justify every antagonist and every character MC met on their respective actions. If he made a character that people hates, he gives a belated chapter dedicated to explain and justify the character's actions. Not that it works much. People still hate on Tomoki, Hibiki and the Goddess.

Spoiler

The most hated would probably be the Goddess[Bug] that sent MC to the edge of the world. The justification is the Goddess is a severe tsundere, she was so sad that her people left her that she ends up being a hikikomori for years, even though her world is in shambles. When she met the child of the people she sent away, she decides to toss him somewhere far from the war and troubles, hoping he would survive without problem due to his lineage. She chose 2 other humans to replace MC as the heroes so he wont be burdened by that role.

Same goes towards almost every other villain in the novel. Rembrandt get his expose, but wasnt really related to the MC. Mio doesnt exactly have a decent backstory. The 2 heroes, Tomoki and Hibiki also gets their justification. Tomoki mostly being insecure of himself and gets manipulated by Lily to do her bidding unknowingly. Hibiki being too self-centered and believing her thoughts are the correct way to go.

[collapse]

Some might dislike this novel, calling MC naive and ignorant of the world and many more bad traits. In reality, what novel MC doesnt have a significant amount of bad traits. That is what shapes their characters, more than the good traits.

He was tossed to the edge of the world. In Japan he was living the ordinary student life, albeit being somewhat famous. Due to his heritage, he grew up weak, but due to his parent's insistence, he trained in various martial arts from childhood. Reaching high school he managed to be extremely talented in archery, so much that he is barred from entering tournaments. Then came the fated day, when he was supposed to know that he is to be transferred over to another world to be a hero, due to Tsukuyomi misunderstanding and the Goddess not explaining things properly. He sort of have the Goddess blessing, due to his parents, and received Tsukuyomi's buff up. Etc.

Tsukibro Respect.

Spoiler

In one of the POV/SS chapters it was mentioned he was supposed to die long before reaching high school, but survived his death due to an encounter with a 'Healer'. He was also mentioned to have awakened his talent, one that is worthless in a world like Earth, but he turned his back on it and creates his own talent in archery by being obstinate. There has yet to be any more mention of the 'Healer' nor the reason he was to die, but this would probably be the main reason for him being OP.

[collapse]

It has been a while since I actually truly liked a novel, after the baptism of A Song of Ice and Fire that kills almost every character that I enjoyed reading about. <<less

The World after the Fall
December 12, 2017
Status: c49
In short, this is a good novel. Translation is still incomplete so I cant really truly claim it to be great or bad, but it is at the very least good.

MC is one who forsakes the world, yet at the same time accepts it. He doubts everything, yet believe in the truth that he can see. Sounds weird. Simply, MC is OP because he desire to be such. Unlike others who gave up or 'died' along the climb within the tower, he continues on, believing he can clear it all... more>> if he just believe he can. In a way he bear resemblence to Kirigaya Kazuto (Kirito) of SAO from the first 6 books (up to end of GGO, 7/8 doesnt count since they are filler, Alice Kirito is a different Kirito). Unyielding faith that he can do anything if he did his best. Except unlike Kirito who is more cheerful on the outside, MC is somewhat dead inside-out. Not literally but in a sense.

Spoiler

He cleared the tower alone, after everyone else either 'died' or gave up. Got told everything is just a tutorial game, decides to kill the guy who said that and did it. He went on and transformed into an awakened, due to him continuously using thrusts attacks, he somewhat mastered it. Neverending doubt towards the world, or rather the tower itself, he managed to comprehend the truth within the world. He ends up seeing the world as what it would be like if Apocalypse strikes, calling it the World after the Fall. Chose to use the soul connection the tower manager uses as a guide toward the Great Lands. Due to him not being in his physical form (everyone in the tutorial tower is in their soul form) he cant reach GL (only those with physical form can) and lands on Chaos, where the dead from GL lives. He considers those who gave up on the world to no longer be a human, as he kept on holding on to the world itself, or rather the truth of the world. Good thing he can swap views from seeing the Fall to seeing the lies otherwise he will probably go crazy.

Thus, he became super OP guy who is the only one alive (albeit not physically, his actual body might be braindead or something similar) since he hasnt died yet, who can see lies whenever he doubts something, see truths whenever he comprehends something and overall not die as easily as a common people living in Chaos.

[collapse]

So far within the already translated parts there is no clear hints of a harem. He had a lover once within the tower, but she 'died'. He met a girl, and then she went off the screen. <<less

Starts casually like every common chinese cultivation novel. Not much different to Ancient Strengthening Technique, Coiling Dragon and similar novels in terms of the start. MC was shown to start weak, slowly reveal strength, and then rules. Sort of. Consider MC the direct opposite of Li Qiye from Emperor, who rely on his own strength for everything he do (rarely has outside support).

If you consider to pick this novel to read long term, only read this novel if you can handle Martial God Space pacing. Although at times the novel... more>> do feel a bit like Mortal Journey to Immortallity. Basically either things go fast or slow, for multiple chapters. I'll just give this novel 3 stars, due to its various defects and also good moments.

Spoiler

MC levels up like every other MC, but he always has a bodyguard from a higher realm no matter when. When he is Houtian, he gets a peak houtian guard. Later he gets a Xiantian guard. In Xiantian realm, he gets Saint realm guard. This goes on for every realm, although he does get an Emperor realm guard while still in God King realm, which is 2 realms below Emperor. Whenever MC reaches his guard's realm, the guard will then loses their screen time, often left behind in various places. MC does sometimes do things directly (rarely goes beyond 3-4 chapters), but fact is he has a stronger or more experienced guide by his side most of the time.

MC does gets heavily injured at times, when meeting enemy of higher realms and either his guards arent close by or of lower realm to the enemy. But he tends to recover basically in 1 chapter. There has been mentions in some chapters of how MC is undefeated, offically, under outsiders eyes he has never been defeated. He does get wreck every now and then, which he in turn wipes out the enemy when he obtains sufficient level of strength. MC has supreme luck, or in real world terms, MC Guard, where he gets what he wants and rarely suffers. Does shows his arrogance a LOT, even when facing enemies of higher realms, when he has his guards by his side. Tho he do tend to run fast if he or his guards cant beat the enemy. His attitudes at times makes me think of him as the villain instead of the main character.

Author also tend to be influenced a lot by comments he received. When people complaints MC is too weak, he gives MC multiple upgrades. When people complaints MC is too strong, he gives us tons of lame chapters. When people complains about MC being bullied, he made MC bully-kill in return. When people complaints of MC lacking harem, he gave us tons of harem. When people complains about MC bodyguard, he kicks them out and let MC go solo.

Oh yeah, MC gets harem in this novel. At the moment reading this novel, MC currently only married one. I dont exactly enjoy the way the harem members are included and introduced, especially the way they randomly fall for the MC. Author tried to explain this, but I call bull. Gold Horned Azure Bull. I say Li Lu is the only one I can believe, since she was already engaged to MC in the early chapters. Mortal had the best way in introducing its MC harem, albeit he never has true harem life (he soar too fast).

There is also a small similarity to Martial God Space, where it has been hinted multiple times that normal Earth is somewhere in the world. And the unexplained reason for how and why MC transferred to another world. MGS MC randomly pops in to the body of some dude named Ye Xiwen (his original surname was Zhang) one day without any explanation, this was never explained up till the end. While Invincible MC becomes a newborn baby, without explanation of the reason. Usually someone would first die in their previous world before transmigrating into a newborn, or at least gets summoned or fall into a random hole/pit before appearing in another world.

Basically who Li Qiye is: (edited to remove spoilers)
Spoiler

This is the story of a shepherd who in the ages past was captured by someone from the Immortal Demon Grotto located rather near his herding ground while searching for his missing sheep. His soul was stripped out, implanted into a Dark Crow created by the person, and doomed to roam the Nine Worlds for all eternity in search for who knows what. After eras went by of roaming the Realms, he managed to awaken his conciousness, and planned to escape the bindings of the Dark Crow and Immortal Demon Grotto. As the Dark Crow, an eternal existence, he has seen almost everything Heaven above and Earth below to be seen, stood in the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths and even reached the Tenth Realm. He learned various things throughout his journey, raised numerous disciples, lead many heroes, commanded many wars and destroyed countless clans. Time passed by, his people dies and he is left alone, and this is repeated countless times until he finally managed to break his bindings and returned to his mortal form. Due to this, he lost the abilities he owned as the Dark Crow, and simply became the young shepherd from the unknown ages past. With his memories and knowledges he obtained, he began his new journey as a cultivator with the Heaven's Will as his adornment and search for the ultimate truth of the world.
He gets OP easily with his knowledge and with stuff he left behind while he was still the Dark Crow that he slowly collects as he return to roam the world as a mortal. Honestly, the only point from his shepherd days that he kept is his desire to lead and teach kids like how a shepherd leads his sheep. Also, although his true age is unknown, as he looks like a teen on the surface, he doesnt like people treating him as a junior, yet he also dislikes when someone considers him an elder, but he tends to treat others as if they are of a younger generation (which is true).

[collapse]

Tl;dr :

Things come simply to MC, beauties, treasures, talents, powers and knowledge. I rate this novel "Read for the PLOT", harem-ish storyline arent prevalent, there are instances where it seems like a harem and yet not. If you have seen your loved ones live and die, buried your war buddies numerous times you would probably feel the same way he do. He has followers of both genders. It is a bit slow though, author tends to stretch arcs thru dozens of chapters before ending it in a simple way. He mentioned that he had to use filler chapters for lack of ideas, thus causing some chapters to be mainly chats or screams. Common Xianxia MC logic prevails here, although instead of being reincarnated MC or young hero MC, the MC we have here is an ancient existence with his own body and soul. Read if you like Martial God Space and novels similar to it. <<less

I’m Really a Superstar

This novel, was fun while it lasted. It ended when someone reported (again) the novel for various copyright issues, but seems that it was mostly due to some authors hating on this author for being top of the weekly/monthly rankings. I was actually hoping it wouldnt be that bad, but yeap, qidian already closed the book, and author is planning to somehow end the story somewhere. Novel was cut at the part when everyone gets shocked at MC. RIP.

The story is great albeit repetitive. It always goes in a cycle.... more>> Get idea, copy stuff from real world onto other world, get famous, fight with people, get famous, rinse repeat. The problem is on the 2nd step, that causes the novel to be striked multiple times thru its lifetime. The fact that author wasnt even bothered to change the title/name for the songs/novels/poems/movies/shows/etc and just used them as is baffled me. Even when he admits he got striked for not doing so.
Spoiler

Zhang Ye talent is nonexistent, which was why on the original earth he ends up as a nobody. His looks are standard, and everything else isnt entertainment worthy, this was admitted early on. Only reason he was accepted in the alternate earth is because of the charm buffs he obtained. His main powers is the system he is using, which later was phased out mostly leaving behind only the inventory which he rarely use, and the lottery system. He mainly uses the lucky ring to get through hard times, and the lottery to get relevant buffs that are related to his predicament. His advantage over the alternate earth stars is the fact that in this world entertainment is waaay behind original earth, by simply introducing anything from this earth into the alternate, he can be considered genius.

There is not much else to be said. He became a supreme grandmaster of martial arts after reaching the dark stage in taichi, and supreme grandmaster in almost everything else when he rolled the books from the lottery with his spare billions of points.

Romance in this novel is somewhat nonexistent. There are small parts early on with Zhang Yuanqi, but it was never romance. There is his junior sister Shu Yang, obtained because his lineage of taichi is of the same lineage of the Shu family, but she is treated completely as his little sister, similar to the 3 cousins he has. He married Wu Zeqing, but there is not much romance written on them. A few chapters here and there of them meeting each other and her weird hobby/fetish on taking pictures, and then they got married. He went to jail for a few years, came out and have a daughter. The novel ended not long after he was released (a bit more than a hundred chapters to be exact), so not much was expanded on his family.

[collapse]

If you want, just read it. If you dont, just ignore it. The novel is fun, interesting at times, but always lacklustre and repetitive. Like every other chinese novel I have read. <<less

Ordinary I and Extraordinary Them

3 Stars. This novel bears striking resemblence towards Oregairu. The MC is unexpectedly popular.

At the same time, the MC is almost the opposite of Oregairu MC. They are both loners in their own ways, doesnt like to associate with the pack and prefers calm instead of the storm. Both have lovely imouto, and in a way both are described to be somewhat a siscon. Both have popular friends, the weirdo friend, and the cold beauty friend. Both are ordinary academically, and outward appearance. Both are avid readers. Both are somewhat... more>> respected within their own clique, and ignored by the rest. Except the part of Oregairu MC that loves to see things tru his own eyes and not the tinted glass, whereas OIET MC prefers to see whatever is in front of him as is and nothing more.

Spoiler

Oregairu MC is also smart, he understands the girls like him, but always denies them any chance at all, since he chose to be alone. Whereas this novel MC (at least up to the point I have read) is really dense and oblivious towards the girls advances.

[collapse]

If you are looking for a similar novel, look no further than Oregairu (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatte Iru) or My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong as I Expected aka SNAFU.
Spoiler

It has been licensed so most of the hardwork done towards proper translations are botched by the english publishing of the light novel. I bought them so I can say for certain, the translator do keep a good flow with the untranslatable jokes and references, but I will forever despise them for not using the proper names for the characters (they always miswrote the names, cmon Hikigaya Hachiman is not Hachiman Hikigaya).

Someone recommended this to me so I tried to pick it up. Sadly none of the 1st volume is available and jnovel sometimes break so I cant find the book I want to read and seems to send me to some random book most of the time instead of the one im reading. Also it is pretty hard to read on jnovel when I managed to load the book I want, mostly due to them fragmenting books apart and the small page size. Honestly, if you can release translated books... more>> dont do ebooks.

On to the review, novel shows promise, even though I read it from vol2 onwards. Unlike typical hero summoning, the world the MC is summoned to doesnt have a clear cut definition of what a hero is supposed to do. Even his Cheat ability sounds a bit useless for battle, but incredibly useful for work. Matching his university major of socioeco the Cheat is the perfect one. The novel mostly focuses on the MC attempt to reform the kingdom he was summoned in. If you like Kingdom Building, ala Otherworld Nation Building or Isekai Smartphone, this is for you. <<less

Clicked on 4 but registered as 5 stars for some reason. A good story but not enough for a 5 in my books, at least a 4.5. Can be considered a niche novel for some demographic and not suitable for everyone.

Its a good story, early on focusing on the relationship of the brother and his sister, who were born within the same year, but they arent of the same age. Important to note is, the world they live in is practically the same as our normal world, except they have... more>> magic, magicians and magic schools. And they also somewhat accepts mages as a normal thing. Except for the occasional racist people without magic powers. Mages are also considered warforce for a country, thus they are basically soldiers that are not officially recruited as one. Ancient magic also exists, considered the ones that doesnt use modern tech as a base. Modern mages uses various devices to activate magic that they calculate within their brain, while ancient mages use talismans and various tools to activate magic. The technology within the novel is also somewhat hundreds times more advanced to our normal world, and many things can be solved with magic thus easing daily life.

Spoiler

The novel half focus is the relationship of Tatsuya and Miyuki, Tatsuya being born with a specialized magic which makes him be considered useless by the higher ups for his lack of diversity, whereas Miyuki being born with balanced ability, and probably biased towards ice and cold. In his young age, his mother and aunt had him undergo an operation in an attempt to artificially add some magic talent to his brain, they were succesful, but the side effect to this operation was him losing his emotions, and the mother losing the ability to care for him. His mother did set a failsafe measure, making him consider his sister as the only one he can love. The operation was somewhat a success, they did add some ability to use magic outside of his specialized ones, albeit rather weak.

The remaining half of the novel follows Tatsuya and Miyuki outside relationships, with the Yotsuba clan they are both affliated with (aunt is the current head and Miyuki is the next one), Tatsuya being a special soldier with the military, Tatsuya only two abilities (can rewind time, or at least the Eidos, and disintegrate anything), their relationships with their schoolmates and the other big clans, Tatsuya being a genius developer of magic artifacts and devices, and probably Miyuki unending obsession with her brother.

They got married within the Yotsuba Succesion volumes iirc.

Tang San theme of one love (Doulu Dalu), so basically one love and yet multiple girls showing interest. So those who dislikes harem can safely read this novel.

MC is a kind, dumb child. Not that he is an idiot, but he is too honest to a fault. He became a thief because a guy told him he can get bread if he steals money from people, so he steals. Later was taken in by an Alchemist, and starts being exposed to magic and the world of cultivation. While his mage... more>> master was out, he met a man hunted down, saved him, and was taken away by him. Thus a sword master became his second master. Learnt swordmanship, and later inherits his master's weapon.

Short Novel. Doesnt take long to read it all. BUT, the twists and turns in the story made me take near a month to finish. I got frustrated a lot while reading, thinking why this not that why that not this, which is a common thing whenever im reading a Tang San novel.

Seriously dont read if you dont want to get spoiled.

Spoiler

After losing his master, and his second master, MC starts to think. Not that he never thinks, just he doesnt think a lot before. And thus he starts his journey, as naive and kind as before, yet more determined than previously. As if fated, met a girl. Twists and Turns abound, reached elf forest and later the Sword Mountain. Met his master's generation disciples, older and younger generation disciples. Met his Master's master. Egg hatches, Dragon GET. Left the mountain for another journey to avenge his master, sort of. Later became known as the Death God.

SKIPPING A TON OF STUFF and then he managed to stop the war between the Underworld and the God realms. The EnD. Lol

Spoiler

MC, the one called the Wine God, dies after drinking an ancient wine. Thinking he has no regrets, accepted his death. Sike! God doesnt let him go, instead he was sent to another world, possessing the body of an orphan kid who recently died of cold, under a bridge. Thus began his painful life of a poor child in contrast to his previous life of someone standing at the peak of the world. Luckily or perhaps unluckily, he still has his old memories, yet he is too poor to mix wine. And then he met and old man who at the same time is a wine connosseur, and mixed wine for him to tempt the person to take him in. Gotcha! Who could resist a wine mixed by a wine god. So he got a job mixing wine for the old man in exchange for learning for free. After this is the common Xianxia and Tang San part. There is still some wines here and there, but the novel changes focus from wine to Xianxia.

[collapse]

My summary of the whole story

Spoiler

Story progress normally, random skills here and there, kill this dude save that dude, showoff some wine mastery, meet beauty fall in love (remember he is older than he looks yet a virgin), and then repeat them all (except the beauty fall for him instead). Starts peaking when the war gets close, no real feel of war of any sort at all tho, fight some more, cry, die. Then get revived by the 2 old dudes that used their lives as bets, became God in place of them. Finally troll old dude seeking love with a prostitute.

Oh, there is also some pig with flower on its tail.

Important mention here is Tang San identity as Asura and Poseidon, he also pops up in some chapters saying stuff, thus placing this novel far beyond DD timeline (also the fact that 1 Day in Spirit World is 100 Day in Mortal World, or was it 1 Year, who cares.)

ok

Not really that good. Not really that bad. OK. Read for the OP MC, not the plot. No proper harem, no mature content beyond the usual cultivation novel trope (kill, slaughter, murder, no s*x). Might just be that author and MC was supposed to not have experience in that matter.

Early translations is a mess, only got better (from 2 to 4 out of 10) after chapter 430+. Author has an idea in his head, but just cant write it down properly. The story is a mess, basically.

The base of... more>> the story is, a follower was transmigrated by his master using a teleport charm, that for some reason moved his soul away from his world to normal earth. He might actually also be reborn instead, and only regained his memories later on. He awaken, starts to cultivate, and be the usual MC, except he doesnt seem to like woman, other than his master. He met multiple women, but doesnt seem to care enough.

Then the story gets complicated. Theres secret hidden in the world, but thats normal. There are hidden sects of ancient martial artists, people that practices, well, ancient martial arts. MC is from a cultivation world, which unlike on earth, they have proper cultivation methods and techniques and not just martial arts. So theres the MC who is a cultivator, and the earthlings who are martial artists. Obviously MC wreck them all.

Author just likes to add things in and not properly add them in. Its fine to read if you want to read. Mistakes are abound, with names being swapped around, forgotten, and even changing. I still havent figured out the topology of the world. Flowing snake is at the border of china, but not within china territory, more than half vietnam land, the rest some country called luo se. Theres also a country called yue, that randomly appears once and then no more, that also is located near Gui Lin, which is the territory where flowing snake is located. <<less

Dungeon Defense

A great read. A mix of the Lazy King and a decent misguided soul. At least the MC here doesnt seem stuck in his bed unlike Sloth. Title is misleading. It refers to the game MC was playing before his transfer onto Dantalion. There is no true dungeon at all within both the game and the world.

MC is as good as a human could be. MC is also as evil as a human can be. Thus, MC is the personification of a perfect human, in my honest thoughts, that lies... more>> when he wishes to, speaks the truths when he desires to, deceive when necessary, and aid when needed. A pure human twisted by the world he was born to, a twisted human that desires to remain pure. A perfection.

Spoiler

Well some might disagree on my opinion, but that is what I consider a true human as. Not a hypocrite nor a conceited human, but one that lives by being true to oneself. A realist.

[collapse]

I do have an issue with the novel though, it is the fact that the [system] menu thing sort of disappears somewhat after the first volume. There is no more display of it in use other than the few affection stuff in the early chapters. Even the treasury/bank where the demon lord stores his wealth sort of turn to an item box type of gold pouch, when it is explicitly stated early on that he can only use it within the castle. I might be confused with the way the story is written, but it seems that everything related to the system disappears after the tutorial except the feature he chose that displays another person status. But at times (during the early chapters) the selection menu pops up, it even appears in the prologue which was supposed to happen 2 years after chapter 1. Hopefully author expands more on the system side of things, maybe giving MC some more features of the game, other than the forced objective options and status menu. Recommended to try, but some might be put off by the violence (which is simply minor imho) if they expect a flowery cheerful pinkish novel.

Spoiler

MC is a genius of sorts, he became self aware from the age of 6, killed a kidnapper by the age of 6, conducts himself as if he is an adult from the age of 6. A mature child, taught the ways of the world since a young age, grew up in a demanding disfunctional family of a rich but wayward father, a problematic mother, 6 half siblings from the father many tryst.

Story starts when the father is caught and sent to prison for s*xually harassing a child (he just tapped her butt tho, weird law), which is pretty much impossible because he is rich, so the obvious reason would be the MC intentionally making sure his father be put in jail. After a heartwarming discussion between father and son, the father stayed in prison for the next 10 days, and died of a heart attack. No will was left, but due to MC being the only child of his legal wife, he inherits pretty much everything. Deciding it best to just stay away from everything and relax, he forsake the inheritance against the wishes of his mother and his 2nd half sister. Taking meager amount of money, he left the family house, and went away, alone.

He finally gets to play games, a luxury he was never able to gain due to being too busy. Clearing the game multiple times, he goes from a decent youth to a fatass due to only eating snacks and playing games, nothing more. Then one day, he gets a survey from the game dev, a weird list of questions of sorts. After completing the survey, he fainted and woke up as Dantalion, a rank 71/72 Demon Lord of the game he just played. The rank is based on the creation not on powers, so rank 1 is the oldest while rank 72 is the youngest. Demon Lords are created naturally by the magic powers of the world, if all demon lords die it will remove all magic from the world.

Story basically starts from here, where he starts to act to stop the end of the world. As the hero in the game, he killed all demon lords and picked up all the heroines. And the game stops there, so no clear showing of what the world is like after that. But now as the demon lord, he understands what would happen when all the demon lords is defeated, and starts to do his best to stop it from happening. Because of his upbringing, his view of the world is skewed to a certain extent. He, in simple terms, is insane. The worst type of crazy people is one who knowingly be crazy, understanding full well their own actions and its consequences. He was taught the rules and laws that govern business, its politics and the power of authority. Who is insane if not a politician.

The type of novel I would expect to see done by a certain shieldbro translator, but this one is korean so not possible. <<less

Main Character Hides His Strength

The MC reminded me of MC from the World After the Fall (because I read that first before this). Basically OP MC mixing up with nonOP characters, sort of hiding his true strength.

Spoiler

MC did some weird stuff in his past, and is now a most wanted man within the Otherworld. He, due to needing magic powers to defeat the ones at the top of the world, decides to return to his beginning. No idea if there was any time reversal magic of sorts, but he went back to the place he was first summoned. MC is part of the ones considered original summons, those who was summoned to the Otherworld via the Summoning Palace, the first batch. His other fellows are either dead, became a returnee by going back to normal world, or became people with powers in the Otherworld. He himself can return, but chose not to, and for some promise he made, decides to destroy the world (sort of).

So MC went back to his summoning fort, mix in with the newbies summoned over, and decides to go the magic path. He most likely went pure warrior the first time.

Havent read much yet, so all I can think of is MC being too selfcentered. He mightve lost faith in humanity from the 25 years living in hell, but he seemed to not even attempt to pretend.

Ill update this when I read more.

Finding issues with the translation that annoys me, but I suppose most westerners wont care. I just never really liked names being reversed, even the western names. <<less

Okay ish story. One of the type that is getting good in recent years. MC as the Dark God, and yet isnt evil. The way he lives his life as a human loving god with a human body. How he gets annoyed with gods and people who tries to mess up humans that he (they) created.

Not a bad read.

Sinopsys, sort of.

Spoiler

6 Gods created the world, and then created humans. 1 of them wanted to make humans submit for all eternity. 2 of them doesnt really care. 1 of them is ambiguous. 1 of them undecided. The last one, Entropy, wishes to let them grow. By some turn of events, he was turned on by the others, and ends up being sealed for a long time. The story starts at his awakening.

There is the normal cycle of elements, stuff like fire is weak to water and so on, for the 4 base elements. The 2 high gods, Entropy and Inflation, of the Dark and Light elements, are considered above the 4. The only weakness of light is the dark, and the same in reverse. Only reason Entropy lost is probably Inflation turning on him (et tu Infla).

After he was unsealed by Inflation, he decides to reincarnate as a human, to see the world for himself. Inflation, being the ambiguous one, also reincarnates to follow him, for reasons he cant understand. World is full of monsters, but only of the 4 elements, due to Infla not wanting to make any. There is also heroes, and churches that represents the 5 elements. All traces of the Dark God was wiped out of the world (not including his powers), so nobody knows who he is other than the 5 gods. Only he and those he gives blessing to can use his element, and dark element is part of the world creation, so they cant erase him or the world is a goner.

Everyone Else is a Returnee

I recommend this for anyone wanting a simple short read. The story is fully translated and isnt that long. Also in case you didnt notice, it is tagged as a comedy novel, so take it with a grain of salt. If you use mobile there might be some issues tho, on my phone the site KCDS tend to freeze a lot due to the ads loading. If only I can block ads on android.

If someone asks me to describe the story in simple terms, I can only laugh. The whole... more>> novel is a mish mash of Chinese Wuxia/Xianxia (closer to xianxia imho), Korean fantasy themed novel (ss necromancer, breaker, etc), and mostly Japanese style webnovel. Author is heavily influenced by Japanese manga, anime and game. There are tons of references he used, without permission I assume. Most of them are old, and author probably grew up with them too, so some young readers might not understand them without AN or TLN.

Story pacing is close to a short xianxia novel (id say similar to Wine God/Magic Chef by TJSS), events and MC growth happens at a rate that is basically what you see in an ordinary xianxia novel. The world is close to what you would read in most xianxia and japanese novel. The korean part of the novel is simply the fact author is korean and he wrote it in the way most korean novel goes.

I have to admit that the translation does have a lot of issues on some chapters. Ive seen missing words in a sentence, wrong spelling and grammar. It does goes down in the later chapters (100+) but some leechers might be offput by that and quit reading. The editor/proofreader did some work. Translator is korean, he reads the original perfectly, but obviously will have issues translating the raw to english, since I assume it isnt his native tounge. Consider an englishman (from england obv) having to translate from english to korean an english novel, with only learning basic korean language in school (which probably isnt taught there). <<less

Saikyou Mahoushi no Inton Keikaku
November 11, 2017
Status: --
The story is almost direct opposite of Mahouka Koukou in that the MC is both OP since young but unlike Mahouka where Tatsuya enters school willingly the MC here is forced to enter school. They both serve for the military since childhood and still is, but Ars wishes to retire.

Ars is the top magician among thousands others, entered the military since he was 6 years old and spent 10 years serving in the front lines against demons, and is among the few who is capable of going against SS Rank... more>> demons. After serving his minimum 10 years in the military, he decides to retire so he can relax and focus on magic research, a habit he picked up when younger. Due to him being a Single Digit and also the No 1 mage, the country cant let him leave, and he also doesnt know any common sense due to growing up in the army. So he accepts the Director General's suggestion to still be attached and the military will support him fully, but he has to go to school and achieve minimum credit.

The early part of the novel is basically how he lives his new life as an awkward student trying to avoid relationship with people, and how he slowly opens up and gains emotions. <<less

Dungeon Hunter

It is a short and good read. MC basically goes OP all the time, instead of common MC that randomly gets setbacks and tribulations on their path. MC has somewhat a human emotion, yet still keeping his demon nature on top. Story changes a lot from his previous lifetime which he decides was caused by his own change, thus making the changed timeline story (events occuring earlier than previously) sort of acceptable to him.

Sadly the author rushed the story to its end instead of choosing to delay or take a... more>> break when he was admitted to the hospital. The story progression goes slow > fast > fast > slow > end. Rather, the end part is the rushed section of the whole story. It might have ended differently had it not been for the rush, but still a good read for anyone thinking of picking this up. <<less

Rebirth – City Cultivation

I consider this novel a good read. Bad points would be MC's arrogance at times.

MC is considered among the strongest in the universe. Unlike his master who stopped at the 8th stage of cultivation, he decides to breakthrough to the final stage and accept Tribulation (the thing where cultivators gets hit by Heavenly Thunder and upgrades a realm). During Tribulation, he was haunted by his Heart Demon due to a past mistake, and was turned to ashes. At this point he should have died, but for some reason he was... more>> returned to years past when he was still a common mortal boy, about 30 years before stepping into the road of cultivation. Deciding this to be his ultimate chance to redo his life, he started cultivating with the memories he has.

MC is rather arrogant at times, mainly due to him having been considered and respected among the strongest in the universe. He just cant seem to forget at times that he is a common cultivator without his previous identity and powers. Novel follows his journey to cultivate in the modern era on Earth, since in his previous lifetime he followed his master away from the planet to cultivate, thus there are many things new to him about Earth. While cultivating he learnt new stuff he didnt knew previously about Earth, and deals with things as they come. As common xianxia style, he gets in fights and slaughters a lot, have a pseudo harem (ie girls liking him) while loyal to one girl, and gets OP a lot. <<less
