This MC Is Kickass

It isn't anything groundbreaking or new, but I'm enjoying it as a filler. I probably won't keep up on it, but may come back when its done translating.

My biggest complaint isn't with the book, but with the translater. Like another reviewer, I picked this up because I was under the impression it was almost completely translated, however, it is only about half way. The translator seems to hide this fact, and they request $40 for basically half a chapter. I'm all for helping out the translators but this kind of... more>> shamelessness makes me have the opposite reaction.

TLDR: ok story, only half way translated <<less

Like most, I got to 137 ish chapter and just can't anymore. The beginning made such an impact and it was slightly dark, but then it just turns mind numbing and cringe worthy. ... more>>

Her obsession with wanting to get pregnant from a guy who had a cause in her death and treated her like crap is just getting too old. Not to mention, the way she treats her senior brother, is cringe worthy. I find myself really hating the MC and hoping the ML will just tell her later and find someone more worthy.
I have read some spoilers where it says she eventually gets with the senior brother but I can't get through the chapters to get there. I understand for the story to be interesting there has to be some "misunderstandings" and I'm usually all for a few, as it makes it all the more wonderful when they finally get together, but this is just too bad and dragging out for WAY too long.
If I could find summaries of the chapters until she gives up on her idea of having s*x with a guy she despises I would be more interested.

I'm pretty easy going with what I read, and usually not overly harsh. I have read so many reincarnation and transmigration stories, but I still am happy when I come across a new one. Sadly though, this is the first novel that I just can't continue. <<less

I really loved the beginning (first 2 volumes), I really like bl and these type of cultivation stories. I also love stories where the male lead is devoted and isn't necessarily the white knight.

I started losing interest in the middle of the third volume, just got boring and I wasn't liking where it was heading. I just couldn't continue through volume 4. I'm not a big fan of non reluctance but if its done well I can stand it. This wasn't done well and I was tired of the ML... more>> by the 4th volume.

One point that kind of really bugged me was:

Spoiler

how quickly he decided he was in love with the ML. One moment (vol 2) he was so sure that the ML was just just confused and he wasn't gay blah blah then he goes back to his world and all of sudden when he goes back he is deeply in love with him (vol 3). Mind you he hasn't even been in this other world for a year yet and he first meet them when they were 10. I don't know, it didn't feel like growth of character to me, more like a sudden change brought on by nothing. Maybe if it was more gradual and he thought it through, It would have felt better.

I was just disappointed in this novel's last 2 volumes. If you have the time and the synopsis interests you, give it a shot, it might be your cup of tea. <<less

Not a bad story but not great either. The pacing is really slow in my opinion. I've tried to read a head in the raws and not much is happening.

I do like how her power is food but I hate how she allows some stupid misunderstandings to happen. She has no problem proving herself but she just can't tell the other guy to stop... she seriously just stands there and says nothing.

I really stay around to see how she impresses with food. As the restaurant and romance isn't anywhere to... more>> be seen yet.

Overall not a waste of time but not worth all the 5 stars. <<less

Story-

Not a bad read, fun story to pass the time, but easily forgettable. Probably will read it again in a few years and have a vague sense of familiarity lol. I had put off reading this for a while because I'm not that big into "system" stories but I actually found his banter with the system amusing, but it did drag a bit. Some of the chapters didn't flow nicely either and the OOC stuff was getting kind of old.

I did find it refreshing that he was gay to begin with so no, "omg what is happening to me, I like men" issues. I also loved the part where he felt up the ML.

If I could I would give it a solid 3.5 worth the read if you have time.

Translation-

First of all I want to say, I do appreciate all the work that goes into translating for us. That being said I also found it in bad taste that the translator called out a reviewer on their site and since then, the review has been deleted? I think everyone should be entitled to their opinions and shouldn't be coerced or shamed for it.

I didn't have the issue with the translator notes in the middle of the story like others. I would rather them then foot notes. I hate having to scroll to the bottom to see whatever it was for. For the explanations on certain Chinese terms which I already have been exposed to, its was easily skippable and wasn't a nuisance for me. <<less

I love gaming novels and I love BL put the two together and I'm in heaven. So far this one is decent, the only complaint I have is there are WAY too many side couples or at least hints at couples. I am all for a few side stories, but I feel it is taking away too much from the main couple. Plus is everyone paired up in this novel?!

Hopefully the later chapters will stick to the main couple more (keeps fingers crossed)

Like others, it started out as something different but just turned boring and racist. More of a strategic mmo where it focuses on building a country basically. After reading Ark, Greatest Thief, Kings Avatar, I was looking for something kind of the same but different at the same time.

I don't even think the main character is more than 1 dimensional and his interactions with Song Jia are mostly cringe worthy, felt more like author wish fulfillment than anything else. The writing gets repetitive and long winded. Around when everyone is... more>> on the ship you can skip about 10 chapters and not miss anything. I don't know how this rated so high, guess its just not my cup of tea.

I also agree with the others, after a while the novel start feeling really racist. I'm all for being proud of your country but come on. This is becoming more of a time waste then I'm willing to put in. <<less

This one is very cute and fluffy. I will admit at times its a bit frustrating as the reader because you know they are just pretending to be straight. I was reading the wonderful translations by Yuiko but they haven't updated in a while so I got impatient and read through machine translation. The first time I have done this until the end of a novel. Too bad the site I found cut out all the good parts. I think my favorite part was
