Strange Life of a Cat

A must read for cat lovers!

Although the MC is a cat, he finds ways to go on adventures around the local neighborhood and make new friends that will later become familiar faces you'll look forward to in every single chapter. In addition to that, science facts are intertwined in the story, giving an interesting and rational twist. The story also follows the lives of the people around the MC, including the family who adopted him as well as those he has influenced, which makes this story have a well-fleshed... more>> out and believable setting.
Spoiler

The story flows smoothly as a plot of mystery develops in the background. It has elements of crime solving (people do get in bloody fights), entertainment industry in a way (from rags to riches via cat food ads), lessons from daily life, and adventures (with his cat bros, an ex soldier that has ambiguous morals and also an eccentric hipster CEO).

This is from the same author as star rank hunter and chronicles of primordial war. <<less

My Disciple Died Yet Again

A light-hearted parody poking fun at the common xianxia tropes. Having finished the raws, I can say that this has definitely been an enjoyable ride where every reoccurring character introduced has their own important roles affecting the tides of the story. Not only that, it had a really light focus on romance, and it's so satisfying watching relationships develop between several characters. Only downside is perhaps a very slight drag in the future chapters and frustration resulting from it but other than that, it's a 5/5 for me.

Spoiler

Most relationships start off with the couple dating and finding the best in each other. They then get married and go off on a honeymoon, before returning to a normal life and discovering each other's flaws, leading to many domestic disputes and their love for each other not as passionate as before.

This story does not follow that formula. Instead, the author skips the honeymoon phase and plops the two main characters right into a domestic life. In the beginning, it is evident that there is a gap in the relationship or missing something that truly bridges the both of them together. They don't try to hide their flaws nor afraid of confronting each other's problems, and it is through overcoming these challenges that trust and love flourishes between the two.

Despite the title, it is not a BDSM-centric heavy smut novel, but a slice-of-life novel. The story is told from the perspective of Xia Zhi, a man in his late 20's who is desperate for a reliable, life-long partner. Many parts of this story follow him as a third-party observer of the BDSM practices as he tries to understand and come to terms with his partner Ye Qia, and by extension his partner's identity as a s*x worker

.

I'm giving 5 stars for this novel because it's rare for a story to pull off the slice of life genre (and with such a topic as well!) without the plot slowing to a dribble, plus the characters are endearing. Ye Qia is always enigmatic as ever and it is satisfying to see him unraveled through Xia Zhi's interactions.

Bonus points are given for the constant hilarity ensued from the series of comical situations. <<less

Running Away From The Hero!

This is pure mayhem and a nice refreshing take on reincarnation. Every chapter never fails to make me laugh.

It's funny seeing the main character bs his way to survival and essentially brainwash the kids into becoming his future life insurance. The kids have personality and the story is also told from multiple pov which adds an interesting element to the narrative.

Love it!

The Card Apprentice

Nearly finished with raws. It has decent story telling. Our main lead is not overly pretentious or arrogant and actually for once interacts normally with other characters, building strategic alliances while at the same time unwittingly gaining enemies from different factions left and right.

Every side character is developed and has their own brains with them, and oh joy when strong women (not harem) are introduced in later parts of the novel. It's great.

Only fault is it has a slow start, but it really shoots forward in later chapters.

A Naive Short-tempered Girl

Fun to read at the start, MC tries her best to survive while being dragged into the underworld. There's so many misunderstandings between MC and the guys that it does get frustrating and slightly repetitive.
Spoiler

The men are manipulative and story gets all kind of effed up in later stages in the raws. I didn't manage to finish it due to plot twist and deus ex machina.

Still, an enjoyable journey until that point and some tears were shed.

As you can tell from the genres, this is more of a whimsical, Western fantasy CN novel than a hack and slash rpg. Like most shoujo stories, it has greater focus on character interactions and light comedy. If you're looking for something fluffy and nice, then this can probably help fill out that gap.

The Legend of Sun Knight

This is the one. The one that sucked me into the world of translated novels before knowing what they were. Every page is packed with comedy and laughs, I really enjoyed the dynamics between the titular sun knight and the two factions under his wing. If friendship is magic, then this story really brings it out in an endearing way.

There are moments where it does get serious, and times where you will cry. But most of the time, as the reader, just sit back, relax and enjoy the journey while... more>> it lasts. <<less
