The Lazy Swordmaster

I stopped reading Japanese novels because of how they hide their strength. This novel is another example of that. People can say its "smart" all they want but hiding their strength is always a frustrating genre for readers and if done poorly it just makes the story bad. This novel is decent and cookie cutter. Its a bit more mature imo compare to JP novels but korean novels usually are a lot more grim its surprising to see a not too grim korean novel with JP novel like MC that... more>> can fight while hiding his strength because he was too annoyed with his past life.
Spoiler

He given up on the sword because he was forced to fight too much in his past life (loads of his friends died while killing the demon lord in a modern ish past life it seems) so instead of working thru it and understanding sh*t just happens he decides to completely deny showing his sword skills in a medieval world where it would help him and his allies. The author is trying to walk a thin line to show he will hide his skills while being awesome I wish the best for this novel but I am done with reading it. These novels are too frustrating to wait for updates so I will come back at 300 to 400 chapters till then have fun reading if you try it.

like most novels with female leads. It usually starts to show signs of failure when the male side leads are introduced. For some reason in the chinese novels like these translators pick for us the male leads should be the MC with a strong female side (current MC of this novel) instead. That way we can actually like the male leads for being jerks just due to the fact most of the time readers like to root for MC just for being a MC even if they are jerks.

These... more>> novel's males tend to like to strong arm the female or act in a way that the females should like them for being jerks. I tire of these novels for this reason that I mostly avoid all female lead novels. I just skim thru the first 30-40 chapters (this case 26 current chaps at the time.) quickly till a male lead pops to see if it is worth the effort to actually read. <<less

Review as of reading Vol. 1

This novels take on Slaves so far is good because instead of a hentai route he acts like a normal decent human being. His attitude is that he has no experience with women that is why he does not really abuse his control over the two MC heroines but for me its more of he just naturally not a bad person so he refrains himself from acting like a typical horny teenager. This is a major point because most Japanese MC act like they are... more>> wusses that cannot touch women because its too embarrassing or a Hentai ass**** that rapes them right away. He is more of I do not have actual experience but at the same time I do not want to have s*x with them for the hell of it. There is of course ecchi situations where he touches them though it is a Japanese Novel after all. He actually keeps his hands on their breast when he touches them so it is not like he is a complete fail. Some of you might see it as he is too much of wuss but IMO he should be commended for actually acting somewhat normal and not abusing the fact he is so powerful, with slave rights over them, to take them right away. One downside though is the story needs seek or actually pursue romance with the heroines instead of having him just not even try. He is very down to earth with his interactions with the heroines but he should act or at least give some thoughts to trying to date one or two them at once. He does try in his own way to show he wants to help them with their problems though. Harem is fine if all parties in the relationships agree and it is written into a story well. Maybe in the next two volumes he will try a bit more but so far it just ‘Oh she cute at this moment’ or ‘She has really large breasts up against my arm.’

Another downside is I kind have the feel that the dialogue is not that flesh out but hopefully it has more dialogue between the characters in future volumes instead of moving from A to B without having some more ways to show the individual personalities of each character. IMO the only thing that separates the two heroines is their physical looks and skills besides their circumstances in life that is.

Character Review: has spoilers

Spoiler

MC – Hidden good guy personally while being somewhat of a typical arrogant OP bad*** MC. I like how the story has him act out the role of a noble demon king to hide the fact he has no communication skills. He is very powerful both physical and magical wise compare to the current enemies but that is just the huge gap in level so far. Also while leveling in the game before getting transported to this fantasy world he was never afraid of dying so he naturally is stronger then the people of this world with a fear of death whenever they go out to complete quests. They might introduce a rival that is at his same level which might pose a challenge but so far none has appear.

Heroines: typical Tsundere heroines that go dere fairly quick but still have somewhat typical female reactions to MC being somewhat of pervert. They are both somewhat annoying at the start. So far in the story there are two major ones.

1. Cat-girl, flat chest

2. Elf-girl, busty chest

3. Probably a dragon demonic beast girl Later.

Close Combat Mage

after reading the reviews then trying the story for 20 chapters I see why people call this a pretty badly written novel. The world behind it is not that bad of a fantasy world but the power system and the MC is pretty bad. Esp. The way you can just wear / equip items to be strong sounds like a really bad mmorpg game where there is not limit to how many accessories you can wear. Realistically you should be able to wear as many rings as you want but... more>> I do not read novels to read about a rapper with the biggest amount of bling run around pwning ppl and being a general annoying person. (Starting skipping chapters to get a better general idea on the story)

PS - edit: I just realize this a pretty good example of how f**ked up the Chinese culture can be over in china sometimes.

tl dr I would avoid this story unless you just have nothing else to read. Even then I would probably start looking for tv shows or video games to waste time on or go find more work at my job then waste my time on this. <<less

The Simple Life of Killing Demons

The story is okay and the character interaction is pretty typical of a friendly Japanese good guy main character that is dense.

Spoiler

He does not really power up through his own means at the moment all he has so far is two dragon sprits in him that lets him use scared flames from the light dragon, this burns his soul so he is killing himself, and he also befriended a King class spirit, top level for spirits under special class, while being the lowest spirit power which means he was not actually suppose to have such a powerful spirit. He is the lowest in existence before the MC takes over the body in this world and because he also comes from another world so it kinda hints the MC gonna be looked down upon for a while

[collapse]

I recommend this if you like Japanese novels in general but a fair warning that the MC is dense and he does not really power up as of Volume 2 chapter 12 that I have read up to so far I might come back and edit this post once it reaches the end of Volume 3. <<less

I went over the first few chapters and its a decent read with romance as a sub-plot all I can say really is just avoid it if you dislike shounen-ai and Bl elements. I myself have stop reading just because I tend to get bored with reaction novels and this one is kinda like one where you have a person reacting to the changes in time.
