People always seem to hate on it because of the amount of misunderstandings but I think in a world with such powerful beings where he doesn't remember anything and his own circumstances being special enough to garner the attention of such powerful beings, he made the right choice in not letting a single drop of information unconditionally slip.

He is just letting other's guesses of him/her create an impression of his two bodies, whether its good or bad, creating the least amount of loopholes in a place of which he knows... more>> nothing about surrounded by people who can kill him with a thought is the right choice.

This is the biggest reason why I like this novel, he will never let meaningless information slip which means he has a lot of secrets all to himself which he can use anyway anytime. Lots of trump cards. He can even fix all the misunderstandings with just a few simple words anytime he wants, but if he can do it anytime, he should take advantage of it for as long as he can.

The authors thoughts of this novel (his world building) seems really ambiguous so it feels like he's taking this rather seriously so I'm interested in reading this. I have high hopes. The novel is just getting started. There are 10 times more chapters already written in the raws, so it's still going to go on for a long time. And since the MC is both male and female I don't have to worry about romance, or there being another character whose growth and relationship with the MC that I have to keep worrying over... cause I naturally start shipping characters with people of their opposite gender in novels even if the novel is not a romance one, and that's annoying. But in this one I don't even worry. I just sometimes think it would be fun if his female self were to create a harem and then have her treat his male self with all her attention making everybody else jealous. lol <<less

I Will Return Again

Status: c9 part2
Before I get into the review, I know that 9 chapters are way too few chapters to be writing a review based on... but since the translators asked to leave some, I will respect their wishes.

And also a warning, I am basically obsessed with gender bender... specially those that have a turned female X male love story, and based on what everybody is saying (and hoping) this might probably go that route, so I'm saying that I might be a little biased towards it.

So, on with the review, this story... more>> is absolutely beautiful with the gender bender drama. The defining part of a gender bender is the conflicting emotions the main character feels, the story properly emphasized all of it pretty nicely without overdoing it. Most gender benders tend to gloss over the drama that comes with gender bending and I really hate that cause that's all I'm here for. Specially when they start falling for the opposite gender which used to be their original gender, they have to deal with this conflicting love which is just beautiful. (Am I sadistic for thinking that?)

The main character feels like a normal person, his reactions are normal so that's nice and he's not a bad guy. The story is very cute and fluffy. The MC ends up showing some reactions accidentally that look really girly which gets him embarrassed and makes him look even more girly, and that's just the cutest thing ever. This is the perfect novel to relax your soul. The story feels like it's a generic troupe for gender bender but it's actually not, since gender bender is so rare and most of them tend to have such unique plotlines, the story of a boy turning into a girl then going back to school and interacting with friends is not that common. (Though I can actually name a few off the top of my head, haha. But that's just because I basically know every gender bender in existence.) What I'm saying is, this is a really simple story, the theme doesn't suddenly diverge into some convoluted plotline or the other. This is the type of thing you sometimes really need in your life to read.

I hope this only gets better as the story progresses, if it turns yuri I might drop it (just saying). And I just hope this one doesn't get dropped by the translators since gender bender is not really a popular genre, specially one that's not yuri. But the translators seem like people who share my interests so I have some faith in them.

So do give this novel a read and show support to the translators so they get pressured into continuing to translate this so I can rea...I mean, drive safe! :D <<less

Reborn as My Love Rival’s Wife

Not just my favorite gender bender of all time, but my most favorite romance story of all time.

I have read a lot of gender bender mangas and novels. But I only prefer gender bender romance to be male-to-female where the gender bended person falls for a male lead. This was so good that I went and read the raws with google translate with much difficulty (which I never do btw).

So if you need any recommendations in this category that I like, I can tell you that there is nobody who... more>> knows more than me in this world.

But you'll never find something as good as this ever in your life. Even if you don't like this genre, just the comedy alone is enough for anyone to start reading this.

The MC is just too loveable and amazing, the story plays out mostly like a common household soap opera that old ladies watch but the MC's commentary on it just makes it so amazing. The romance is SOOO good. Like, the author put so much dedication on the development. The MC being a straight guy before, falling for someone he once thought he hated, his thoughts and reactions were so real. And I just love how the ML didn't give up and kept trying to get the MC to be with him even though it was the hardest thing in the entire world, cause MC just doesn't see him as a love interest at all. On top of that the ML didn't even have a single clue about how romance worked, a lonely virgin rich guy playing at the most hardest to get girl in the entire universe, and he won. That's amazing.

Spoiler

P.S. It was so funny when the MC found out s/he was pregnant. Their first time with each other might be the most convoluted first time anybody could ever have... and they still made it kinda romantic, and funny. Su Jian doesn't really make a good mother but she's the best wife a man could ever ask for. (out of the few chapters that's about after they have their children, she already made them cry twice)

Shoujo Ai and Shounen Ai too? I just want to know if it's a turned-femaleXmale pairing or turned-femaleXfemale pairing. I will only read if it's the first... though there is no one to tell me which one it is so I'm gonna read anyway since I love gender bender so much.

I really love this story. It's a very lax slice-of-life story about family and also some romance sprinkled in there too.

The people who are talking bad about how passive the MC is probably didn't even reach till the end of the first arc of the novel.

The first arc is very slow and might be boring for some people, but you don't have to read all that immediately, take your time. One chapter at a time.

If you're gonna judge the story, I'd recommend reading the second arc at least. That's where... more>> its all at.

Spoiler

The mystery behind her disappearing, the most romantic aspects of the story where she meets her fated one and whatnot, it's all in the second arc.

The third and fourth arcs are some little adventures she ends up having in the other world... can't really be called adventures, but I'll go with it.

The third arc is about cleaning up the mess that the second arc created in places far away. She meets James Charles too... well, at least that's how I interpreted that new guy to be (people didn't like him very much, they saw him as a love rival for some reason...I don't get why, he was obviously joking that one time when they first met and never showed any signs of going after the MC... in fact, he seems to be very supportive of their relationship, like everyone else. And he also seems a little gay to me.) You also get some cute romantic scenes in between with the MC and ML in that arc.

The third arc is about dealing with ghosts the week before Christmas with her dead ancestors, and although people say its got a lot of plotholes and such, I found it to be one of the most fun arcs of this story, after the second arc. Also it ends with a very romantic scene.

And then finally the fourth arc which is the wedding arc. It lays the story down gently, the pace softens up and everything finally seems to be coming to a close with a nice big wedding and some happy goodbyes.

[collapse]

People say how the MC is passive, but honestly, that can't be judged really cause she never gets the chance to show it. The only reason she seems that way is because she goes along with most things, she's slightly uncomfortable wearing girls' cloths but she doesn't hate it and also wants to get used to it. She doesn't do anything when people tell her she's not worthy to inherit their house cause she doesn't want to inherit it, she won't get into a meaningless argument with someone she doesn't care about so she just tells them the truth. She is dissatisfied when she finds out she is expected to be married off to a man, but she doesn't do anything cause that's way further down the line, and anything can happen during that time, she can deal with it when her parents bring it up, which they never did. (And something does happen... she falls in love.)

Really, her life in the new world is so easygoing and simple that she can actually afford to be passive. But when it counts she actually doesn't just sit back, when someone tries to approach her suggestively, she immediately turns them down and gets angry, even if the other person was just joking. She doesn't let everyone do everything for her, she just doesn't have the power to help, but she tries, in every way possible she tries to be useful and that's something.

She's not passive, there just had not been many situations where she had to speak up. It's a very relaxing novel so no major drama going on. There's absolutely no love rivals or whatever, nobody actually aims for the MC other than the ML himself. ML is a decent character himself. Also MC is not oblivious when it comes to romance or tries to deny it, she is actually very forward and initiates a lot of steps too, although very shyly, like when giving him a lap pillow or asking him to take her on a date.

MC is not passive, she's just not an intense character at all. Its a really good novel if you can see it for what it is, a very slow and relaxing love story that's also about family. <<less

Gender Bent Loli Is Not Cute!

Before you get thrown off by the tragedy tag, it's not really a tragedy, it just has a bit of an intense start. But that's just the first volume. After that there is no more violence and all cute and fluffy stuff.

The initial tragic start was just to get the setting in place.

Spoiler

This is a really cute gender bender romance novel. Main character wakes up in this girl's body who lives with her abusive drunk father. She makes friends with a rich boy she randomly meets who ends up rescuing her from her misery. From there the romance starts.

[collapse]

As a gender bender lover, I already like this a lot. Even though this doesn't have all the drama that comes with being in the opposite gender, this doesn't throw that out the window either. And logically, she has more problems with to deal with than getting flustered over her new body. But as it eventually settles it shows the struggles properly and it's a really decent gender bender story.

If you like cute and fluffy stories then you should definitely read this, this is not for tragedy lovers. Don't get thrown off of it having a tragedy tag, cause it settles really quickly and she starts living a very peaceful and happy life while facing her own teen drama. <<less

It's good, but the constantly shifting PoV is really annoying me.

They've all got their own little love stories going on; the commentators, the original heroine and such. It's not bad, on their own I'd be interested to read them, but constantly taking away from the villainess MC (who I want to watch the most) is a bit annoying and makes me not able to focus on the other characters' story cause I just want to get back to her progress with her own love. (As I said, the other characters'... more>> love stories aren't bad, but they started off with the prince and the villainess first, and I really wanna see this through to some extent before I'm able to divide my focus to other things, you know?)

Maybe the author should've kept the PoV changes to a minimal or just only limited it to side stories... or maybe the author should've just progressed the side characters' stories without shifting away from the prince's PoV.

Just what I'm saying is, it feels like cliffhangers within the story itself, moving the PoV away just when you're getting interested.

Other than that I really love this story. The villainess is very cute and likable, I really want to see more of her so the less chapters there are without her making an appearance, the less I like this novel. What an odd way to judge, lol. <<less

IT'S BACK!!

Well, I really love this novel and specially the main character. She is so funny. She gives absolute zero sh*t to everything else, so some dramatic parts might seem silly when you are reading from her point of view that's why the side stories are important, they are the POVs of the different characters. The side stories might seem boring at first but they hold lots of mysteries and foreshadowing... but you don't need to read them, cause just reading the numbered chapters alone is mostly enough to get... more>> a grasp on the whole situation, cause it's the point of view of the main character and whatever she experiences from her perspective.... and she, at this point, knows everything that's going on in the whole world.

The main character is why I love this story so much, and this is the only bad thing about her, which I also kinda like about her:
Spoiler

The only bad thing about her personality is that she's bad at communicating with people so she almost never properly explains anything to the people around her, the other reincarnators and stuff... but that's just annoying, nothing more, cause if you think about it, nobody else at this point even matters right now, so her not explaining everything and leaving others dumbfounded, or telling them everything properly, or just killing them and being done with it, the end result would be the same, they are not even worth it to talk to and she never gave a f**k about them either. But I just sometimes just wish others could know about their situation and her capabilities, because she knows everything they desperately wants to know and she can help them, she just doesn't.

Like, others are worried to death about something when actually everything is resolved and the main character is there who knows about it and is standing right there in front of them, she starts thinking of random stuff and having arguments with herself (which is actually one of the best parts of this novel) while a single word from her can put the rest of the people at ease. Unless she's asked, she wont talk, and if she's asked, she would spend 30 minutes getting her thoughts together, and then explain the whole situation, in her head, then ending it with a "... that's how it is" and that part at the end would be the only thing she actually voiced out. lol

I get what people are dissatisfied with. Even though he receives her consent, she reluctantly does it to save him from the pain, but he ends up hurting her afterwards. And it truly does make you a bit sick. But if you can look over it, you might get a really funny and kinda romantic love story out of it. There are a few reasons its not as bad as its made out to be which I'll talk about in the spoiler. But what I'm saying is, if he wants... more>> to take responsibility you should give him a chance. (But his way of taking responsibility was the bad thing, anyway, he does fall in love with her and she doesn't hate it either so it's not that bad.)

Spoiler

I know its hard to overlook something like rape, but if you understand the feelings of the victim, you might feel a little better about it. The person herself never really cared about her purity or anything, its just the pain that caused her to be dissatisfied with him. She used to be a man so she doesn't really think much of it. And later she agreed to become his lover because she ended up enjoying it somewhat, right? So although it was a bit forceful, it's not really as bad as people are making it out to be.

The main thing is that its a gender bender, and she used to be a man. He was in trouble and she decided to sacrifice herself to help him and he ended up falling in love with her. She did not hate it either so she agreed to go out with him too. He might have made a mistake in the spur of the moment but as long as he makes it up to her throughout his whole life, you should forgive him for it, cause she herself did too. And after that just enjoy the comedy of two unlikely people falling in love and their shenanigans.
