I don't often give scores this bad. If I find a series that is bad I normally just drop it rather than writing a review, but this one truly needs to be stated.

The story starts out mediocre at best, warranting a 3-4, but the MC gets strong quickly, gathering forces quickly, and goes through plots/arcs quickly. The problem is, the story is repetitive with the same "twists" over and over again, and the MC never learns from it. To make matters worse, he always makes the same mistakes over and... more>> over again, failing over and over again. Honestly, if I wanted to read a story about people making mistakes and failing consistently, I'd watch youtube fail-videos. I wanted an epic with good action, great battles, and powerful characters, but received the most pathetic characters, the flimsiest plot "twists", and the most idiotic and pathetic MC ever. As a tyrant he was pathetic, as a savior he was hypocritical, and as an MC he was a failure.

I would give this series a 1, but for me a 1 score needs to be the absolute worst. While this series is simply awful, it was at least entertaining for a few dozen chapters before the author went full-fail. <<less

It's a decent series that doesn't go into the nitty-gritty details of training, nor is the battle anything glamorous or overly complicated (no DBZing), but it doesn't stand out with anything overly epic either. I'd say it's a good casual series to read when one remembers about it, not a series that one would follow day-by-day, or hour-by-hour for a new chapter to come out.

Great modern series. A few reviews complain about a certain part of the plot where the MC has to deal with an annoying girl, but these reviewers stopped before that part of the story is resolved. DON'T! The MC is vindicated so much and it is awesome!

This series is labelled harem and while I would argue that it's not harem yet, the setup and intent is obvious. With that said, this series is easily one of the best (at least so far, things can still degrade in the future). The... more>> story never really lingers on a certain arc/point, and the MC meets a variety of people (girls), but it isn't bad. There aren't any major arcs that I see so far, nor are there any particularly epic (or even exciting) battles, so don't expect anything heaven-shattering. With that said, what this series does do well is a sort of casual slice-of-life story about a cultivator reincarnated into the modern world. <<less

Not going to lie, I don't normally read this type of novel but it comes so critically acclaimed and I was running out of things to read. As others mentioned, this series is just too hilarious with too much epic win and OPness. The ring mechanic grants the main character the power he needs to go from ordinary to extraordinary and that's what makes things so great. The sense of righteousness and justice, the over the top absurdities, and the pure humor is reminiscent of the early volumes of Golden... more>> Boy, as well as Great Teacher Onizuka. 5/5 definitely read <<less

I sit on the middle on this one. It is lukewarm entertainment, that is repetitive and predictable, but good at what it does. It's the kind of series that has a weak to strong MC that is constantly pressured to get stronger, the only problem is he's the one going out and seeking the pressure. Hypocritical at many points, especially at how arrogant he is (yet calls everyone else arrogant), he's the kind of MC you grow to hate more and more, but also hate his enemies more and more.

No... more>> high ratings due to the generally simplistic plot, train, anger people, kill, repeat, but no overly low marks since it at least does one thing right, merciless bloody violence. One thing I always find annoying about these kinds of story is... the reincarnation aspect has no story relevance, aside from explaining why the character's personality and talent changes early on. <<less

Honestly, I did not like this series from the start but had to give it a second chance to start enjoying it. I found that this novel has a lot of ups and downs, a lot of exciting moments and boring moments, which make it more appropriate for the wait and binge reading. Sometimes the combat/skills/training can be quite monotonous and boring, and other times it can be exciting. Sometimes the tournaments/contests can seem boring, and sometimes they can be funny and does great justice.

4/5 (good). MC is powerful due to his vast knowledge allowing him to choose a superior cultivation route. You'll see a lot of the low score givers point this out, but they don't seem to understand that THIS IS HIS SECOND RUN THROUGH LIFE. Like a second play-through in a video game, he knows how to train, where the items are, how to make money, and how to hit all the flags with love interests. It's the entire premise of the story, if you don't like it, don't read it.... more>> If you can accept this point, then you'll find it quite enjoyable.

It is nice reading a story where a person can correct the wrongs they did before, and try to make a perfect run through. The author does a good job diversifying it up at the beginning, between cultivation, bullies, making money, etc, and the fights tend to be quite good and non-repetitive. The post-Glory City arc tends to get a bit boring, but it actually becomes quite good later on when they go beyond the tiny world. Of course, it becomes good not because of it being original, rather it copies a lot of other Wuxia series, the cliche plots when joining a new sect.

I can't give this novel a five star rating though because a lot of some of the glaring flaws. The main character's devotion to his previous love is unreasonable (he lived for thousands of years, he would've gotten over it), the other characters aren't very useful (they don't really matter much), and a lot of the plot seems to become jumbled and messed up later. The glory city arc was well composed, but when they came to the next arc, it seems the author wanted to change directions and kind of skimmed over a lot of plot points with little detail.

Overall, if you want something slightly harem (like I said, side characters don't really matter much, they seem to come and go), with an op MC going through a second run of life, it's a really good read. But if you're like some of the other reviewers who seem to be looking for deep romance with a TRASH MC character... you're in the wrong place. Go back to bleach. <<less
