The Godsfall Chronicles

Status: v6
Short summary:

Spoiler
    • Non-stop action.
    • Unique post-apocalyptic storyline.
    • Kill or be killed situation.
    • Mutated beasts, mutated people, mutated world.
    • Superpowers.

A bit-long summary:

The protagonist has a strong plot-armor (well, he's the MC), though the others didn't as lucky. While the MC continue being alive, he has many companion he owed his life to (e.g the mercenaries) as he keep trying to reach his dreams he firmly held from the time he still a scavenger.

I think the character development has the most impact of this series. People may think the female lead is an arrogant, ungrateful character. But I can say for sure, from reading the raw, she will become one of the most important character to the MC.

And lastly, many people may think the MC get OP as quickly as a galloping llama, but although he get's a lucky event early on, he will not depend on it too much as there little he can do as he only can be considered weak aside from really strong people of the wasteland. Like,

Well I won't spoiler too much, but I can say for sure the story remains solid, author clearly know where his/her series going. Honestly, I just can't believe this author is the same author of Miracle Throne, it's like his brain went on a full upgrades to another realm.

Sigh..., yet another good novel ruined by, as usual, an unreasonably low rating given by qidian haters. I feel like giving this novel a review it really deserves.

Hilarious and funny. So far where I'm reading, this novel is still so good and interesting. I like how the MC subsconciously used her OP alien abilities.

A bunch of elderly scholars tells her (him?) to show off her calligraphy skills (which she knows nothing of) for the grandmother's fiancee test. She copied a nearby famous calligraphy with a perfect similarities so perfect that it resembles a photocopy, leaving the geezers grieving lmao.

Each person seems to have an interesting traits. Oh and also the comical family lol. Fyi, I suggest try reading this and ignore the negative ratings. To which you may realize what I'm saying. <<less

Read my review for a quick judgement.

This is actually my first review after reading countless KR, CN, and JP novels in NU. But this series really deserve it.

MC is eternally grateful for FMX's memories, he know he's no better than others without it, so his ambition is to let the world hear his name and his teacher FMX, while helping the people around him. The story is good, the author has done a good job explaining the complexity of entertainment world. No cockroaches enemies and fast conflict.

The pacing is quite... more>> fast, author clearly has a plan for the story.

Spoiler

Yet, I am dismayed to see how the author didn't explore deep enough FMX's memories other than skills and their work experience. They have seen through the bitter life of entertainment, but the author didn't mention any of their experience other than in early chapter and failed to integrated it to Lu Chen. E.g:

    • Lu Chen didn't even confirm his memories by searching through net of important figures in FMX's memories.
    • Their other life memories should be mentioned often, not just their work experience, to explain how it makes Lu Chen personallity as of now.
[collapse]

Here, Lu Chen is a polar opposite of Zhang Ye, which is a good and..., a bad thing. A good thing is that he is likeable, polite, and kind. The other is

how he doesn't have any negative and show a little of author self - insertment, yet this can be fixed by fixing the aforementioned points. I know he lived 3 lifes, but come on.

[collapse]

The other supporting characters, I can say that the author has successfully fleshed out. Character development and romance enough to make me got a diabetes for the gentle and fluffiness.

The other, this novel is not a harem (ThankGod), MC attracted plenty of girls, but didn't make a deeper move towards them, but instead more to his career. But, as of my reading chapter the heroine has been pointed out, but I will not spoiler it.

As of chapter 320, I can relate at some aspects that this series is similar to I Am the Monarch. That is, career climbing, fast conflict, and MC personallity. So if you like I am the Monarch and other kinds, you might try this.

So far the story is still solid, despite the negative points I pointed earlier, I really can't lower the rating below 5. I might edit this review again soon enough. <<less

So far so good. A refreshing read about a reverse-role of an overbearing female protagonist and a guy she sworn to "protect". Both having a face paralysis and zero romantic skills with lowest EQ possible, which contributed to giving a plenty of sweetness to smile as you read on.

I like how she gave not a second thought about how the others look at her for being with the ML, showing how much she cared about him even though she herself didn't realize it.

Though the chapters can be kind of dragged out because of the misunderstanding, but the novel is not the long one, so all things alright. <<less

This novel is good. This novel is so good that I dropped it twice (early & 3rd Volume) only to have continued to read it. The protagonist is evil yes, the author doesn't care a single dust to what others thinks about his novel. Then by Volume 5:

Spoiler

When all sh*ts going wrong for him. When he is marked for death by literally the entire world. When he suffers defeats more often than victory. And when you learn his past, his unrequited love, and what he has gone through in his previous life, you really can't help but to root for this guy. His tenacity and perseverance doesn't came for no reason or some BS cliches (protecting/revenging clan/family bla bla), but towards his selfish pursuit of eternal life. No things or any others can sway his mind.

[collapse]

Plot is unpredictable, but can be boring sometimes only to have it masterfully interwined together and becomes a huge plot twists. There is also some nice comedy along the way, seeing the MC conned a variety of people really makes one laugh imo. Characterization is probably the most strong aspect of this novel, it portrays how much length an immoral person has sunk to and how much moral an upright person has, even the history itself (e.g Human Ancestor) can become a fantastic storytelling if executed well, which this story has.

Really recommend this novel, and even when you can't stomach the story itself, I suggest endure it for atleast a dozens or so chapter, that is probably when the story shines. <<less

I decided to give this novel a review because this novel seems underatted and left hanging for a long time.

As the other reviewer said, this novel mainly talks about politics, court intrigue, and conspiracy, which is executed pretty well in my opinions. The MC is a surgeon, and by that I means not some acupunture king with a godly needle skill or some other pharmacist expert, though his doctor profession is only secondary. His other ability/degree (psychology) is being used for the most part of the story.

As for the harem... more>> and romance?
Spoiler

Pretty much a joke, even though the earlier chapter gave a vibe that he is kind of a pervert and he flirt occasionally to raise a flags with girls, he doesn't even once touch a girl even after multiple hundreds chapters given how dangerously his situation most of the time. The harem is only in a late part of the story.
