The Second Coming of Gluttony

Regarding the style and story telling, it deserves a 5/5
It is simple yet profound. Not overly descriptive, at the same time delivering all the necessary information and more.

The plot: MC died on a battlefield in the future, he makes a wish to a God to return back to the past. His wish is denied, because only his emotions at the time could be sent back to the past him.

That's where the story start, the MC is a son of a..... basta** who is living in modern Korea. He's an... more>> addicted gambler and took advantage of his family to get money.

Then one day, a woman comes to him, offering him the opportunity to travel to another world in exchange for something (more complicated than this).

The story kicks up as he's entering "mission worlds" where he has to complete some objectives (at least that's what the tutorial is about).

Once again, what makes it interesting is the way the author describes the world and character's internal state. You quickly immerse in the story without realising. <<less

Typical case of an author specialised in writing beautiful chapters, but unexciting stories.

The plot seems really well made, the author seems to have put lot of work on this novel, and thoughts of a lot of things. But ultimately, it's not enjoyable, it's not boring, but too strenous to read.

Ridiculous beginning. Lots of "Fortunately..." Of random miraculous facts that help the MC before the story even started.

His interactions with the little miss from the academy is just too embarassing to read.

He has absolutely no credibility, a wasted young master offers her the moon and the sun?

Nothing happens.

The author is trapped in a time loop, always repeating, never moving from the current situation of the MC.

The chapters are long, but nothing happens.

Not much descriptions, or actions, but the chapters are still very long. And nothing happens.

At one point, you expect that something will happen. Something will change. But nothing happens.

Wasted my time reading 9 chapters. To learn that nothing happens.

The author learnt well with Qidian how to fill his chapters with nothing but air and 2% for the actual progression of the story.

Don't bother paying for the amazon book, it's a rubbish story.
The first few chapters where he creates a mobile game is somewhat interesting but it's quickly dropped for another "genius" idea he has: to become a martial artist and make people believe martial artists possessing qi exist.

Of course, half of it is spent ridiculing the japanese, and he travel there to have a tournament with the japanese martial artists...

It's completely boring, the way it's described is as if the author is 10 years old with a chuunibyou complex. There's... more>> no fleshing of characters, the MC is OP with a system that gives him everything on a silver plate. At chapter 50, he has more than 500 000 fudge points.

Only the first 15 chapters can be read, the rest is **** <<less

This story is about a random dude summoned to battle zones in another plane where he must fight monsters to upgrade his strength and get abilities. The plot is divided between the real world and the time he's summoned in those battle zones, but he can still utilize his power in the real world.

Apart from the fact that the MC managed to kill a monster one level higher than him by rubbing some salt on its wounds (I'm not kidding), and how the summoning to the dust world select only... more>> drunk men (and drunk women?), it is a good read. (seriously could have believed it was made by a Japanese with these outrageous ideas).

I don't personally like the MC, he's a brain-dead muscle guy but the story is well described and interesting overall.

Edit:

Okay, it was interesting, before it became obvious that there was no plot progression. The following chapters are only the repetition of what happens in the first 10 chapters... <<less

The story is interesting but the style is annoying. Half the chapters are filled with poetry and famous chinese proverbs. Quidian style for lazy writer.

The author should pay half his earning to the original creators of all the proverbs he used since it basically fills half his story.

Incredibly immersive story. Despite the lack of descriptions, the author manage to create a distinctive setting for his characters.

I recommand this story for any fan of the fantasy genre looking for a complex story.

There's not much I can say about this novel. When you reach this level, there's nothing else to add.

This story gave me lots of ideas due to how good it was, it influenced my emotions greatly. There's no perfection, there's only excellence.

Gate of God is excellent.

Extraordinary Genius

Was interesting until chapter 58.

It's not a fantasy story. It's a slice of life that describes the life of a man that returns back in time in a modern city theme.

It's not what I usually read as I don't like those novels that take place in the real modern world.

... more>> But this one was really well described, the story was fresh and original (to me), until chapter 58 where the MC has to deal with gangsters.

From that point, it became very hard to read the novel since it centered around the MC's scheme to get back at a gangster's nephew. It was annoying to read, the story completely dismissed the whole return in time/business expension thing, focusing on slapping faces and getting back his face. <<less

The novel is really well written. The beginning of the story is enjoyable as the characters are introduced.

But the deeper we go into characters exploration, the darker it gets.
That's what stops me from enjoying this story further, the story gets darker and darker as we find out the circumstances and traumas of people working in the entertainment industry.

Characters we thought were "good" are later revealed to be "grey" (thinking of the CEO), when to me his actions are anything but white or grey and straight dark.
Maybe that's how... more>> the entertainment business works, but I don't read novels to be reminded of how perverse our society is, and I think the author focus only on that. He takes a lot of time to introduce characters that had their personality twisted by their experience in the entertainment world.

There is just too much focus on the dark side of the industry, the characters who are under the most spotlight are those who have twisted personality.
In conclusion, if you're looking for an entertaining read without a heavy theme, this novel is definitely not it. <<less

Good novel to read for entertainment.

It's fun to read and the story pace is fast so you don't have time to get bored.

MC got the knowledge of 10 years into the future so he's a genius, doing shocking, impressing things under people eyes but it's not extreme so it's pleasant to read.

Definitely a novel I would recommend (which I did) and eager to read the next chapters.

Thank you translation team for the hard work!

Since I started reading this novel, I've always had a pit in my stomach. It's not even a drama focused story (MC is OP), but everything is so bitter.

The way the author describes his story is just tear-inducing. Even when he talks about joyful, gentle things, like giving a powerful fruit to a child that helps him find his way, it's so bitter.

Because you think that's it's such a bad idea to give away his rare fruits when he has a limited amount and he needs them to become stronger.... more>> What's more, a kid carrying a treasure is bound to end in a disaster.
This is just one example of a common scene in the story, but everything else is the same. So bitter.

The author should be a drama genius. Only, he should focus his stories to this style since everything he writes end up so distressing. <<less

The beginning was somewhat interesting but it loses all its value when the author start to focus on action scene in the valley of death.

The author chose to focus his story on battles, which is weird since he's really bad at describing battle scenes. They are boring, slow, unrealistic, and just disrupt the flow of the story.

The author should just focus on other elements of his novel instead of battles.

From where I'm in the story (chap 68), I can see a lot interesting materials regarding story background, detailed output on game mechanics, and lot of planning.

Sadly, the Author seems to has put too much of himself in the MC. Commiting the major sin of an author, writing the novel as a way to live though his Main Character.

As such, the global personnality and events surrounding the MC is passable for moderate readers, and annoying for experienced readers of the genre.

I consider myself an experienced reader of the genre, and... more>> I learned a lot from this novel. But I started to lose interest, seeing how everything went the way the MC wanted (even if you'r reincarnated in the past, butterfly effect?).

Secondly, the story was too focused on the detailed construction of the village/town. A lot is good, too much is boring.

In the end, what really made me sad about such a great story was how the author puts to much emphasize on the MC's daily efforts to manage the town, and deal with the NPC, completely forgetting the bigger picture. That this is a massively multiplayer game. <<less

Fist 45 chapters are interesting, then it becomes boring. Feels like since the MC arrived in the demon hunter headquarter the author didn't know what he was doing. Instead of learning how to use his power, or at least having a school atmosphere, the MC slept in the prison, killed students, and was enrolled in the cavalry? I don't understand much since he joined the HQ, I lost sight of the plot and the quality fell drastically

Should add the comedy tag on the novel. Been reading these two chapters while laughing a lot at how ridiculous the story is.

Polluted tap water in H city (in China) turned the humans into zombies. Those zombies are like transformers, they don't die if you behead them, instead, their whole bodies transform to become abominations.

It's so funny to read, don't take it seriously, just laugh at the funny interactions the MC has with the zombies.

Excellent idea for the story, the author really thought a lot regarding the plot and the starting characters. Sadly like most novels, it doesn't stay consistent.

The first dungeon instance was really interesting, the characters interactions, the schemes, the descriptions, everything was really excellent. Then, things took a turn for the worse, the following dungeon instances became less and less interesting with a MC who takes crappy decisions yet has the plot armor as such he always ends up victorious.

I believe the author is really good at world building, making us... more>> readers immerse in the story, but at the same time he lacks something regarding characters construction and plot building.

At the same time, I'm not fond of the whole history context, the author describe thoroughly the background story of each instance but it quickly fills the chapters with unecessary informations, that's probably what's making me dislike the story starting from chapter ~130 <<less

Interesting concept. The fact that the game created junk data which has conscience intrigued me.

Sadly the author's style is bland, and the habit he has to always put block of random description, to only diverge from the story annoys me very much.

I believe the author is like the MC, a money grubber artist who fills his story with more words for more money. Sad.
