Eight Treasures Trousseau

Here I go for my first review.

I am really fond of this novel : no foolish harem plot, the MC still has her mother and a loving and strong family. So, we escape from the stereotype of "poor heroine, who is all alone, but who is so smart and talented (and cruel) that she can seize the power in her household and attract the typically arrogant and powerful male lead".

In this case, the MC is smart but doesn't try to fight to gain power or prestige or whatever. Just to... more>> gain the upperhand when needed, and act according her status. The story has such a good flow, that almost everything seems really natural and the plot doesn't seem forced.

It's nice to read and interesting, mixing bits of romance and political intrigues. I really recommand it. <<less

The Overbearing Chief Husband’s Favorite: Baby

I started reading it thinking it would be interesting. The MC seemed to be smart, able to think by herself, and with a somewhat fiery character. The ML is the typical handsome-cold god, rich and powerful. So, I thought that the reading will be nice even if not really imaginative or novel compared with stories of the same genre.

However, the story is developping really slowly and there is almost no character or real background developpment. More important : the MC is being abused and raped in every chapter (non-descript but... more>> still). And even if they are married, rape is still rape. And making it appears that being raped is not a big deal, which is actually what this novel makes, is a big NO NO for me.

If you don't care about that and just want a light reading, with a simple and easy to guess plot, you might enjoy it. <<less

My Childhood Friend the Demon Knight Hates Me

Humm... I don't know what to say. At first, I thought it may be cute and funny with the romance beetween the MC and the ML, but actually I just found it silly and annoying. The plot is well... not really interesting. The MC and ML are stereotypical. If you are bored, this novel can help you pass some time, but that's it.

Bone Painting Coroner

Really nice read ! Even if some part of the plot is similar to novels abot reincarnation (the FL is abused by her family and her mother is dead), the way FL acts is quite different ! She just found a way to earn some money in order to take of herself and want to live her life quietly. Or at least it is my impression. So, we have the FL investigating cases while bearing a chatterbox of a ML, and having to take care of some troubles in her... more>> household.

The interactions beetween the FL and the ML is funny, and the way this novel is written is quite refreshing. Love it ! <<less

Thousand Face Demonic Concubine

Ok, so here we have a typical not-so typical reincarnation and revenge themed novel. Meaning : the MC lives her life for a second time and she wants to take revenge against her family (scheming step-mother and step-sister, dead mother, greedy and uncaring father). Of course, she is waaaaaaay smarter and powerful than in her previous life.

However, here is what make all the difference from others cnovel of this kind : the cruel and spooky way she has to deal with people. At least at the beginning. Now, we will... more>> see if she keeps acting this way, or if it will become like any other novel of this kind : schemes making people lose their faces and not their lives. <<less

It's enough to pass time. But the story is totally cliché, the characters too, and at one point I just felt bored and annoyed reading it. Well, I can't say it's totally bad as I read 300 chapters so yes, you can enjoy it if you are looking for something standard.

The Male Lead’s Villainess Fiancée

The plot is not really original if you already read "I woke up one day and realised I am in an otome game" novels.

Moreover, I couldn't find myself growing fond or attached to the characters. They are somewhat stereotypical for this kind of romcom.
Spoiler

A dense female lead who doesn't realise that the male lead is in love with her, and a male lead which will try scheme to conquer her without much success.

[collapse]

Another thing is that I can't follow the plot, or more like there isn't much plot. We jump from one scene to another without link beetween them and they aren't even that interesting. Just basic slice of light ? So, if you want something light to waste time it's ok but that's it. Nothing more. I dropped this novel at chapter 17, but maybe it'll become better later ?

It's quite a good novel, even if some elements of the plot are not really original : bad blood with the FL's family, scheming sister and whatever, the FL is oh so smart and so talented in whatever field she may need and she even has a cheat item.

However, I like the modern time setting and some of the characters which have potential to graduate from the 2D stage. The rythm of the novel is not rushed, and it's a nice read. I'm just waiting for the romance part to... more>> be a little more developped ! <<less
