A Wife’s Cry

Oh my god, where to start.

I jumped in blindly, and god, this thing is a f**king disaster--and that's putting it mildly.

But then, I saw the review section of this novel, which is full of comments praising it to high heaven--one even said that this story is empowering! So I thought I was too quick to pull the gun (Even thought I'm at chapter 10 already, which is like, 1/4 of the whole goddamn story) --hence, I try to read it again, and I even tried the raw because I don't... more>> want to be too quick to judge--

--boy, what a huge mistake.

I thought author who believe and wrote story where you have to endure, endure, and endure abuse and toxic behavior in a relationship has gone extinct already--it's 2019! This story proves me wrong. No matter from what kind of perspective I'm trying to read this story, different light and whatsoever, the only message I caught from the story is "if your husband is a wifebeater, endure! Stay strong! Later in the future, your relationship will conveniently fix itself!"

f**k no.

There's nothing """strong""' about enduring abuse. There's nothing """empowering""" about unable to stand up against something that should've never be done to you or any human ever. There's nothing """nurturing""" about being silent in an abusive relationship just for the sake for it to go on. It's just plain DOORMAT. However, the author seems to prefer the word 'martyr'--fine, if that's what you prefer, author. Means the same thing to me.

Now, let's get on to my biggest problem with this story:

Spoiler

--the author is glorifying abuse.

Abuse means love--especially when your husband is a walking social misfit with rapist, abusive, control freak, anger management issue--and the list goes on!

Every time the husband literally beat the sh*t out of his wife (to quote herself 'he almost killed me!'), which happened about 5 times from chapter 1-10 (good grief...), the next chapter would always be in his perspective/ 3rd narrative to explain (read: justify) why he did it.

And boy, you'll love his reason for beating his wife. Every time he loses control and even managed to send her to the hospital one time, he blame "extreme anger". That he's the actual victim. That his wife is the one who actually hurts him. Sounds similar?

Yes, this predator rapist asshole is playing the victim card, as any asshole in a bad writing would do. And to make it even more fantastic, is the side characters and even the supposedly bad guy are the sensible one!

Every time he beats her, he would later clarifies in his narration that he did it out of love. (While funnily, he also adds that his ego is hurt and he can't take that a mere commoner dares to cheat on his golden d*ck)

No, you rapist piece of sh*t. And you too, f**kface of an author.

Abuse isn't, ain't, never is, will never ever be equal to love.

Abuse is abuse. Rape is rape.

The author also tries to shed him in different light, explaining that his abusive behavior is due to the MC herself cheating on him that one time. But at the same time, she also wrote so that this baby trapped in an adult body """revenge""" on the wife. My god, his ego can't take it unless he one up the bitch, aka f**king with another woman in broad daylight and rub it on femmc's face.

Now lemme bring to you the context: It's a f**king arranged, loveless marriage. The rapist prick is still hung up with his ex, he treated femMC like sh*t all the time (in his pov, he justifies again that he's """"working on""""" his love for her, asshole what have you been smoking). Hence, the femMC seeks love from her friend, who's also a f**kboy--and one thing leads to another.

The hubby caught them cheating on him, and instead of talking it out like a proper adult, he almost send her straight to heaven. To me, this is a red flag and why she should just ditch the wifebeater, after all, it's a loveless f**king marriage with a psychopath rich son of a faggot who has never been denied anything in his life, but she's too doormat to do so. Yes, she's the type to blame herself for everything that's happening to herself.

ANDDDD THE MOST FRUSTATING sh*t??!?!?!?!?

THEY LOVE EACH OTHER.

THEY LOVE EACH OTHER.

THEYLOVEEACHOTHER.

EACH f**kING CHAPTER, THE AUTHOR HAMMERS IT ON MY FACE WHILE RAPE SCENES AND TOXIC MANIPULATIVE BEHAVIOUR ENSUES. SHES GLORIFYING IT. SHE'S TRYING TO MAKE US SEE THAT THIS IS AN ACTUAL RELATIONSHIP BUILD ON f**kING LOVE WHEN THE f**kING ASSHOLE OF AN MC GOES STRAIGHT TO PUNCHING AND SLAMMING HIS WIFE ON THE WALL E.A.C.H MISUNDERSTANDING HE'S HAVING.

OH, AND BTW, TO SHOW THAT HE GREATLY LOVES HER, EVERY DAMN TIME AFTER THEY FIGHT HE WOULD COMMAND HER TO f**k WITH HIM. "I CANT RESIST UR BODY BAE". AND THE DOORMAT WHO HAS NO PERSONALITY OTHER THAN BEING A PUNCHING BAG NODS ALONG. AFTER THE "GREAT s*x" WITH THE "BEAST", EVERYTHING IS FORGIVEN AND THEY ARE IN LOVE AGAIN.

HOW IS THIS HEALTHY.

HOW IS THIS ROMANCE.

HOW DOES THIS EVEN BECOME A BOOK.

LOVE ISN'T THE SAME AS LUST EITHER. BUT IT SEEMS LIKE ONLY A SMALL MINORITY UNDERSTAND THIS CONCEPT.

AND HERE I THOUGHT THE EMPOWERING PART WAS WHEN SHE DECIDED TO f**kING DIVORCE HIM.

BUT NAH.

HE HUGS HER FOR LIKE, 3 HOURS, IDK, AND THE STUPID f**kING DOORMAT'S BRAIN IMMEDIATELY SWEEPS EVERYTHING--THE FACT THAT HE HAS BEEN ABUSING HER UNTIL SHE'S HALF DEATH, THAT SHE'S TIRED AND SHE WANTED TO DIVORCE--UNDER THE RUG. YES, PUN INTENDED.

"I REMEMBER I LOVE HIM AGAIN."

f**k YO-2981HDAHIQHEEWUQQHDUHQUDHWQJKDQHDJAHJSAHDADA

EMPOWERING? EMPOWERING? *spits on her middle finger before lifting it and waving it on the air furiously* TAKE THAT, BITCHES.

And for you who still think the ML is an excusable, endearing male with redeeming quality and likeable traits:

Spoiler

I yelled out when he suddenly threw the cellphone to my face. At the same time, he sternly pulled my hair up. He suddenly pushed me to the wall. With the sheer force he exerted, my shoulder struck hard. I didn't even thought of stroking it anymore even if it felt like I broke a bone I looked around the whole room – I have nowhere to run! Grasping at straws, I took the big pillow and made it a shield. But it didn't help. He pulled my feet down, so I fell onto the floor. I screamed in excruciating pain!
I fell over with my shoulder which hit the wall earlier; I think they're really fractured. I crawled away from Allen, but he caught and pulled my hair.

Don't you just love the way he manhandles and domestic abuse you under the disguise of jealousy and love?

***UPDATE--CHAPTER 27:

He did it. He f**king did it, at last--

Spoiler

His unresolved anger issues caused him to kill someone--yes. His own child. He straights up abuse his wife (as always, you know, the usual) but this time, it's proven to be fatal. And the most fantastic thing is, get ready, buckle up, ready your eyes--

--HE f**kING BLAMED HER.

"You didn't say you were pregnant, dammit! If I knew you were, then this might not happen!! You should've told me! I never intended for this to happen!"

And that's not the worst thing that happened--BEWARE, SPOILER INSIDE A SPOILER!

Spoiler

Her family was on his--the rapist, abuser--side. They were so set on having her cancel her idea of divorce. Why? Cause mum and dad don't wanna lose that company asset. It's bad for them.

***UPDATE2 --EPILOGUE

Spoiler

There's a 4 years timeskip in which they didn't talk nor even meet with each other. You think the d*ckbag would finally reflected on himself--NOPE, BIG MISTAKE.

In that 4 years he still didn't feel any remorse whatsoever for killing his own child, and still making excuse and blamed the wife for it (I. KID. YOU. NOT). The total loser went bemoaning his own fate and be like, "dammit! if she didn't suddenly got miscarriage like that, we would still be family and I would be having a son or daughter rn! WHY DOES BAD THING HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE."

The only thing he learned during that 4 years is transforming s*x into weapon.

And that's how he """"""""""""'won'"""""""""""""" her back, through rape--I mean, s*x.

And then they lived happily ever after. :D

[collapse]

I totally recommend you to not read this story :D <<less

I give this series a 4 stars rating not because of the plot but the way the author describe the scene and successfully makes me feel the immense pain the MC is going through. Which is.. Painful.
Scarring. TRAUMATIZING.
This story is INTENSE. Nonono that cute cover with a pink color theme didn't suit this series at all, they should add splash of blood in the title and few on the corner. This whole 'romance' thing in the book felt like 'horror' to me.
