As you can see from the reviews, most of the people marking this low because "he's not an angsty fellow hell-bent on revenge even with those bad treatment". Well too bad he's not, you can't force him to become your favourite MC in another LN. I will say this though, this novel is not as bad as those people said. The evolution trope is always interesting and this novel has some cool evolution type. The fights is dragging, just like how shounen usually are, no mindblowing movement but still some... more>> are good. The dragging boring fights are actually things that lowered my rating of this story, from 4.- to 3.5 rounded to 4 (Psst, just skip the fight if it bores you). The MC might seem dumb and indecisive, but he has his own situation to handicapped himself and do things the way he do (mostly because his loneliness, evolution and scheme to befriend human). The drama is quite good, I actually feel sad for some of his "situation". And as you can see he's maturing and you can feel proud of him. It's true the comedy of his blunder can become irritating. But hey, most of JP novel is kinda like that tho, it's for advancing the plot right? Life's not thrilling if you don't blunder into life and death situation, I guess? Btw, some people say this novel is just an inferior early Kumo desu ga. Those people are just looking at the same leveling and evolution trope. While early Kumoko is more of a thriller of beating stronger monster after becoming the lowest in food chain, this novel is more to the side of drama and melancholy of a dragon restricting himself to find ways so that he can connect to people. Maybe to the side of Kumoko' sidestory but with evolution, kinda? <<less

The reason I read is the synopsis. And just like the synopsis, the start is awesome. Kinda boring in some of the early chapter after the start with ancestor complaining and Lyle's own dull head. But Mr Lyle makes everything awesome. And now it's keep getting better and better even without Mr. Lyle showing up his face, because finally our Lyle has grown up. Well that's what growth is, I guess?

I'll mention Death Flag Shows No Signs of Ending cz it's so popular and have similar premise where the MC were forced to be the villain. The difference is this one is darker and unlike death flag where everything still went nicely, everything in here is bleaker, things always end up wrong. Knowing that she's a sickly girl that died too young before reincarnated makes this even more hurtful to read. Her insistance to destroy her own self is just sad. And the author is smart for making me feels... more>> like there're hope and crush it with even greater sad reality.

Give this a try. If it feels too absurd, remember the fact that she's still a child and keep on reading for reasons justifying her actions. It's heartwrenching and addicting. There're depths in characters and inner monologue. It's not your typical easygoing JP isekai reincarnated. Keep on reading it, become my brother in arms, let's get depressed together. <<less

The novel about misunderstanding is always wonderful. Especially with this kind of relatable people, overthinking is the way human should be. So that we won't do something we can never taking back again. Totally recommended, it's funny.

A good novel, really.

To summarize my chatter below, read it if you're in for some serious read. Well it got lighter along the way, but still. It has kingdom building, political struggle, strategic battle, medieval drama and sidecharacters are not just some fools.

To summarize it further, what should I compare it to? Game of Throne? Sorry, haven't read the novel. Harry Potter? Yeah, the start has that kind of writing style. Hmm, maybe Amber Sword with no game status and more kingdom management? Dungeon Defense with fewer superdark characters, less... more>> dramatic buildup and more action army battle? I stopped reading it halfway, but Realist's Strategist with more realistic fiction fantasy medieval character interaction (kind of Game of Throne-ish, yeah kind of with ish) and less cooking or other entertainment shows?

Well, it has slow progression at the start with a western novel kind of feel. But the details fleshed out is quite beautiful, so I don't think it's gonna be a problem and even a plus if you are the type of ppl who like to read heavy stuffs. The latter on is fast and can be seen as repetitive, but there are always some details and new smart plot progression making them different than the usual abuse of conflict plot where the enemy is just stronger than before.

I've gotta say most of the kingdom management problem or political struggle and society issues kinda makes sense in that kind of world making this story kind of real and not just a simple writing of an author but have done with respect and careful study. Sure I've got some problem with health issues of the convoy, but hey.

The best thing about this novel is that most of the character is fleshed out, even the enemy, making them not just a simple cannon fodder for the MC. Yes, later on we start to have a lot of cannon fodder but at least they show some kind of inteligence making this novel to have some depth in it. The MC is strong, seems OP at the start but still in the realm of human possibilities in that world.

Eventhough to be truthful I think there're some kind of changes in the type of writing, it still has a really good plot and story. I've gotta agree with coyote, the progress of power and cultural technology is not absurd and abused like the usual modern ppl reincarnated story. So yeah, good job author. Also I kind of agree with rustic soldier with how horrible they kind of now, I've just gotta say look at the situation, babe. It's war and most of it is not the one they start. Many innocents have already been suffering, at least he's also saving many more by making a save space in his realm. Their situation is not the one they can control after all. It's war of the 3 kingdoms, with some duchies, a lot of counts and barons with other countries medling and going to join soon enough.

The only problem I have with the story is just the plot of him and that one barbarian woman. It's just, why does it have to be like that, I know I don't know what it feels to be used like that but still. Other thing is just the problem I have with the people, higieny and health problem, but maybe in that world with body reinforcement, sickness is not a problem at all. Also the problem with gunpowder, I just think of how convenient. Like, really? Hope it doesn't change the style of war too much. Well, with how war and skirmish have been depicted before, I think it won't be a problem for the author to make it believable. I can't remember any other problem cz it's been 2 months since I finished binge read it and I haven't started to read the story for the 2nd time.

Also kudos for the translators, awesome work u have done here. I'm grateful, really... <<less

Totally awesome.

A really good reincarnated into another world trope that still give me suspense after all those chapter. The MC is great and not a d*ck. The other characters might have some depth and show some character developments. The comedy is there and have made me giggling in the middle of the night.

The bad side is there are so much elements that might confuse ppl especially those who haven't tried magic the gathering like me. But in the end, it's really spices things up and might become your favourite elements.... more>> And second time reading makes me even more hyped for update.

Also, thank you for the translator. Your editing might be the reason this is one of the CN novel I really like. <<less

It's good. Your country management with a realist's modern insight. The MC is kinda smart too. There're some questionable plot and some at first forced plot armor, but with some acceptable afterwords tying the loose ends? Acceptable and quite awesome actually.

Nice. It's mostly a comedy which I sometimes found boring and hoping to skip to some events already. But some of the Keima's strategy are really smart. And overall can be summarized as a good read and recommended for people searching for light read.

Interesting read. It's a snusnu novel right? The h scene is just ordinary. But the slice of life is quite good. I might be biased because I like traditional culture in a novel, whether it's made up or based on a real culture.

What I love the most from this novel is the way author specifically explain the culture in this world. Also the events are interesting. Insight and the strategy of war is quite awesome too, although it's still need more action. Hoping for more war, or give us some... more>> more political conflict, please. We, well at least I like it.... <<less

It's good. The MC's personality is kinda refreshing and can't wait for the plot advancement. Some chapters, mostly in the perspectives of side characters are quite boring, but soon it's gonna be alright with the perspectives getting back to some sweet moments of MC and friends.
