Though it's definitely not the best story or plot, it's quite addictive and unpredictable. The protagonist isn't automatically granted some sort of harem either. Pretty good overall so far

Pretty great story, I have really enjoyed it so far. Definitely worth sticking to beyond the first set of chapters. Occasionally the MC seems to have leaps of logic and cunning far beyond his usual capabilities when it suits the plot or story, but this isn't too overused. He certainly runs into all kinds of interesting problems, at this stage in the story (c133) he appears to be in pretty deep waters with little way out, I look forward to seeing how he either escapes or goes down in flames.

The geopolitical elements of this story are ridiculous, but I still enjoy the premise of swords and magic vs. A modern army. As other reviewers mention the authors bias towards the JSDF is massive and really unfortunate missed opportunity. Would have been awesome to see the characters interacting in a power struggle between the powers in the modern world in a realistic way, a bit like a modern version of colonization in a magic world. Disappointing tbh that the author chose this route, but I guess it sells in japan.... more>> Not terrible at all but could have been awesome. 7/10 <<less

Enjoyable for the action scenes inside movies, and occasionally for the plot, I don't think it merits five stars due to the lack of creativity in world building. The world is almost always fixed to the plot of the movies they are forced to fight in, not as effective IMO as other authors have used this pop culture survival genre. Additionally there is an often uncomfortably strong strand of racism and nationalism that often suffused the prose.

Fantastic mystery and cultivation story set in early 20th century China. I am really enjoying the read. It's similar to the story the Lame Buddhist Monk, with a touch of horror and detective work instead of action and comedy. Check it out.

A lot of really high reviews, some even comparing this favorably to A Will Eternal; I tried to get through it but was severely disappointed. There is no tension to this story at all, it flows well but that's all. I never once felt the MC was in real trouble, and as far as I can tell from his attitude neither did he. The forced mystery of amnesia was interesting, but quickly got old as it became apparent this was just the way the author would slowly reveal yet more... more>> layers of OP to the character. Looking at this author's other works this is all unsurprising, this seems a slightly higher quality of the same. I wish I had checked first.

Fantastic chef adventure/romance story. I enjoyed the hell out of it while the chapters lasted. Great translation quality, but at glacial speed. I'd have begrudgingly settled for one chapter a week but that isn't in the cards. Definitely worth the time though, check it out.
