Grimgal of Ashes and Illusion

Grimgal is completely different from the stories that have been popular lately. Instead of genial, talented MC, with brilliant futures, what we have are basically commoners, the side characters that usually end up dead before we even know their names. And that is exactly what causes a giant gap of opinions. After all, there is no gray for a story like Grimgal, it's black or white. Personally I think that is exactly what the author wanted, to go against the wave of novels about genius who can make anything happen,... more>> and try to put on the spotlight the guys that all of us have been neglecting. And that is exactly what I like about Grimgal. Not everyone can be a Iwatani Naofumi, but even so they have to keep living and trying and tragic things can and will happen all the time, that's the kind of world they are and the thing that super genius make us forget.

The author is really human with this story, including all the sides and faces. He can be cruel, kind, rewarding and depressing, and still everything keep going forward, even though slowly, the characters have barely time to stand up before getting themselves crushed. This is a story about real hard-working, of the ones that don't have a ounce of blessing and still have to wake up everyday and fight with their lifes on the line. <<less

I really liked this story, it's just bad that it hasn't been updated since it stopped at such good point.

Spoiler

Basically the story is about a guy who struggled in the entertainment industry for 7 years? I'm not sure. When he was young, he was arrogant, self centered and egoistical brat who though he could use his group as a stepping stone to raise in life, unfortunately, he suffered with an accident and when he finally realized the value of his group mate, the relationship between him and the rest of the members could no longer be restored.

When he finally gave up his career and the group and decided to retire, he wakes up right before their debut. At this point he alread had another mentally, tired with the struggle in the entertainment industry and no longer feeling like pursuing a musical career, all he wants is to fade out and just chill, having no ties with this complicated industry.

Unfortunately for him, he already signed the contract and he is tied to Irisdecent for the next few years, so he decided to take another approach, let the rest of the members take the limelight and he would just mop in the shadows, and as soon as he can he would break the contract and retire, cutting his ties with this industry like we wants to.

But, well, nothing goes according to his wishes. In this new present, he is seen as a kind hearted senior who is actually cold on the outside but warm inside, a classic case of tsundere, and his bandmates are deeply attracted by this senior of them who seen to be adorable. This brings new revelations about his relationship with the rest of the members, and a completely new dynamic to the group.

Not used to being pampered, trusted and relied on, our MC is deeply stressed by this new side of his old group mates, furthermore, this group mates are kind enough to make sure the MC has his share of limelight, even though he says he doesn't need it...

The best part, now that he finally exploded and lashed out, the story stopped updating... Please... Update... I need to know the rest... <<less

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to complain, I'm sorry, but I need to voice out all the frustration and angst I'm feeling right now. I have been crying over frustration for real, I'm so unsatisfied and frustrated and angry with the male lead that I have been crying again and again.

Spoiler

First major frustration is her kid, Haohao is definitely adorable I get it, but come on, the kid get kidnapped and he rescued it, okay that's cool, but instead of giving it back, he hides it and then bring a woman out of nowhere, makes her the mother and then when he asks the kid he clearly has no idea who JiMan was, still he uses the boy to make her do the impossible to be with her child.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Second point, and I think I didn't even need to mention this, but he was part of the reason her whole family was killed, he was very aware about the second prince intentions and yet he didn't support the third prince, much less warn him. He has always been a treacherous bastard. When JiMan had to seek the first prince because of this I was so sad for het, after all the prince tried to murder her child when she was still pregnant.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Another frustration is her general situation, how many things had she swallowed down, abuse after abuse, form him, from the other woman. In the very beginning when he canned her as a punishment, I thought, with my naivety, that it was gonna get better, she wouldn't be abused right and left like this in the future, just persist, happiness will come, and then around ch190 I was like, when will it come? And then when peace finally came, BOOOM, Major bomb fell from the sky and now I'm so frustrated, because she has to and she propably will end up with that bastard.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Male lead is a manipulative, abusive, unreliable, controlling, jealous, arrogant, childish, frustrating, bastard of a husband. And I feel so bad for her. Honestly I came to the point that it does not matter what he does to atone himself, he will never ever deserve her, and it's killing me to think that they will end up together. [/spoiler]

This is another frustration but what is the deal with the second male lead how can he be so ridiculous? He help murder her family, he knew about the second prince and he still wants to make her his concubine? What the ****, how can this males be this bad, it is like they are competing to see who can wrong the girl the most!

[collapse]

Anyway, after all my venting is done I'm just going to say that I will only keep reading for her, because after all she went through she needs to be happy, even if it means to end up with the male lead. I want to see Ji Man became genuinely happy.

By the way I said it, she should have divorced him, even better, run away from him in the beginning. She had money, a lot so she should have used it to flee to the farthest corner in that place. And just to say, but all this is like the tip iceberg. <<less

I Have a Mansion in the Post-apocalyptic World

I'm writing this post because of all the negative comments I have been seeing, which I consider very unfair and insane.

First the world building, considering that we are talking about both present and future, I believe they are more than well developed, of course there could be further discussions about it, but as I have red before, it would be too tiring and boring to continually read descriptive paragraphs like that.

Secondly about the characters, in my opinion there are awesome. There are consistent to their nature, yet present personality development,... more>> they change and improve, both the MC and side characters, to this point I haven't seen a character that was randomly introduced without future propose, except the disposable villains that we could care less and even them are not easily forgotten.

About the s*x and harem girls, well I don't know if the translator is getting rid of particular contents, but to this point I haven't felt any kind of confusion regarding the storyline. Furthermore, I can't say the protagonist is a s*x deviant, after all he doesn't **** every nigga he sees, if you read properly, he even got rid of nasty situations exactly because he refused invitations, and even though there is many girls that belong to him, he haven't ****ed half them, and it's not because of lack of opportunity.

I also saw somethings about racism and let be clear, the MC is very respectful to both women, Mediterranean religion, etc. Although there is some stereotypos, they are part of the world building and storyline, you can't consider them the opinion of the author, since the protagonist is more likely to represent his instance and the MC is very polite to all kind of cultures. And the supremacist mindset is never denied in any moment, and further, there is moments where the author openly admits its presence, you don't like that's it.

Anyway the story is very well written, I can't see to find plot holes, there is even moments where the story reminds me of things that I forgot chapters ago, everything is very consistent, and if there something confusing, it's all right, the author is gonna clarify in some chapters. <<less
