Tales of the Reincarnated Lord
October 2, 2016
Status: c47
Alright guys, let me give a quick review.

The first few chapters were a little bit confusing and I didn't know what the hell I was reading. It seemed so different from the plot mentioned here on NU. Afterwards, things became clearer, but it was slightly annoying that you had to read through several flashbacks which were dropped in the middle of the story, before it continued.

These flashbacks ended somewhere around the 33rd chapter, after which the story continued in the present permanently.

You might be wondering why I'm giving this such... more>> a high rating, whereas my tone has been negative until now. Well, the worldbuilding and characters are AMAZING. Nothing like the usual Chinese novels in which the MC is some lucky handsome idiot and all of the women are objects to be used or discarded as he pleases. These characters have grown on me and I love the way the reader grows to value them as well.

Much of the novel has been entertaining and informing so far, it has prepared the reader for the journey ahead, which consists of the MC trying to become the proper lord as mentioned in the plot (this story arc starts at chapter 42).

Based on the quality of the novel so far and the way this story is evolving, I'm really looking forward to the rest of the chapters.

Should it disappoint, I'll lower my rating in the future, but right now I've got no reason to think like that. For those who would prefer to wait until things get a little bit more exciting, I'd advise you to wait until the novel has a few hundred translated chapters or so.

I'm going to to do the same and on a final note, thank you to the translator (s) for bringing us this novel in all of its proper glory. The translation is superb! <<less

I've been reading so many Xianxia novels lately, that I couldn't find anything else interesting. It was then that I decided to give Korean novels a shot once more (aside from ARK and LMS).

And wow.. Just wow! The story is so well thought out. At first, I was afraid that it'd be some crappy ass novel, but the MC is quite decent. The story pace is quite good too. I can't wait for now chapters and I'd definitely recommend this to other people as well ;).

The Desolate Era

So, I've just read everything and I have to say, Desolate Era is quite entertaining to read. Sadly, it inherits some of IET's usual downfalls as witnessed during the ending of Coiling Dragon.

All and all, it is better and less generic than other similar novels (like Chaotic Sword God), but (IMO) not as entertaining as Coiling Dragon.

It is entertaining and a decent read, but it is reaaally repetitive. I've read until chapter +1500 and it is like the MC experiences the same crap over and over again, but with different people and different settings.

What I do appreciate, is that there are a lot of small things that happen early on and which appear to have entire arcs dedicated to it in the future. The author has clearly thought out a general story line and he has separated that into several arcs.

After reading up to chapters +1500,... more>> I can say the following:
be ready for a very long series, because

The author mentions different worlds and it seems that after a certain level of power, the MC will have to move on to the next world and continue his cultivation story there. But right now, it seems it'll take another 1000 chapters before it even gets to that...

I've read this until chapter 53.

This novel has a lot of potential and I think it'll be truly enjoyable. But I wouldn't recommend it to others just yet.

It is somewhat slow paced, but thanks to that we get know a lot about the world, the farm and the characters. Sadly, there isn't much "action" just yet and it is still in the introductory phase if you ask me.

I think I'm going to put this aside for now and wait until it has a hundred (or a few hundred) chapters... more>> out and I'd recommend everyone else to wait for now as well.

I imagine it'd be a lot more fun to read by then. <<less

It has the standard Xianxia elements, but to me it feels really rushed. Aside from the obvious plot armor, the MC does a lot of illogical things which in turn are presented as very logical. Then there are the story arcs and the villains who get dealt with too quickly. A lot of build-up wasted if you ask me.
