Demon Noble Girl ~Story of a Careless Demon~
May 23, 2016
Status: v1c9
If this entire series ends on the current chapter, c9, I would rate it as the best novel on this entire site. I have never, ever seen a translated web novel with as well written descriptive sections, reasonable character misunderstandings, and most of all: whimsical brutality as this novel. The MC is one of the only characters here that I can actually want to be, not because of pure power scale, but because I understand why she does everything she does, and it all makes sense immediately.

Edit: after reading ahead,... more>> it doesn't get any worse, yay!

Also, the MC has a coherent thought process, no non sequiturs. (A rare thing in LNs) <<less

A Record of a Mortal’s Journey to Immortality

Other than the currently relatively slow translation speed, this is the best out of the 20+ xianxia works I’m currently reading for one very important reason: Arc 1’s Villain. Never in a Chinese novel have I read a more insidious, plotting, sith-like antagonist than in Mortal’s Journey, and when the sh*t hits the fan and the first fight of the MC happens: It’s EPIC. All of the character’s plots one way or another are revealed to counter each other to see whether the new cultivator can beat a justifiably unbeatable... more>> foe, and while the bigger twists can be seen a mile away, the devilish details are what make the fight great. The more important aspect of the villain is his longevity and presence in the story. He is almost always on the wings or on stage, always establishing more of his character and interacting with the MC, more so than any Xianxia currently found partially in English, as usually villains are throwaway cliches which are used up in a few chapters. (Exception maybe to ISSTH’s Mr. Turtle: that was a very satisfying burglary)

Yes, it’s a Xianxia (therefore plot armor), yes, the skeleton of the plot could only be more cliche if the MC was reincarnated, but the details of the characters so far and their motivations are the best written I’ve seen so far from the genre and it definitely deserves your time. <<less

Looking promising so far, I read novels for dialogue rather than action and this series is all dialogue (at least so far)

Here's hoping it stays interesting into the double digits and is received well enough that it makes it there in good time.

Tilea’s Worries

The main character is stupid from the start and remains so throughout the series... but that's what makes this series stand out. The MC is so dissociated from reality (a trait brought along with her previous life) that she is unable to see reality. A great twist is that whenever it seems like someone is going to burst her bubble... [spoilerspoilerspoiler]

Non-stop laughs all around, and a full recommendation for anyone who enjoys a good comedy, or even the more orthodox other world stories like Death March and Isekai.

This is the most low-action story in all of existence, but one of the better stories out there. The MC is logical without being perfect, smart while having believable blind spots, and the world (just a town so far) is well built.

The Man Picked up by the Gods

I love hard working, thoughtful MCs, and this novel provides it. He’s rather OP, but doesn’t really lord it over anyone’s head, looking to improve the world how he can: WITH THE POWER OF LAUNDRY!

Overall, it’s not the normal sort of summoned to another world tale, so don’t expect that. It’s more of a slice of life/comedy than strict adventure. Don’t expect the MC to face any real challenges and treat the chapter releases the same way you would treat a Sunday comic: Sure, the status quo doesn’t change, but... more>> it’s funny. <<less

Stunning Edge

In lieu of there being no other reviews, I’ll say that, at least so far, this story is worth reading. Funny moments and an abrupt change in personality have made for some fun reactions and interactions so far. So if it stays on track, it should end up being worth the read.

I've read up to Ch15 so far: it’s getting into some crazy territory, if you like ending chapters asking: WHAT!? It’s a good series to read. Definitely worth the time and waiting so far. I feel a big mystery coming on.

You could have been the chosen one, but you turned to the dark side after the first arc. Why did you stray from your path!

First volume: great read
The rest: Royal turd of cliche harem fantasy fulfillment
