Here comes a longass list because I like harem. It's something I've seen many people dislike since they prefer 1-1 couples. However, I like it because even if I hate a ML or two, there's bound to be at least one other ML in the harem who might be likeable. So I'll rather see the MC get chased by the entire gay town™ than read about just one ML who could be insufferable.... more>>

For example, 'I Rely on Beauty to Stabilize the Country' has a somewhat annoying ML but because it's not a harem, you're supposed to suffer through all the paragraphs brimming with his a$$holery, and can only root for him and the MC because no other guy can ever end up with the MC. 

On the other hand, 'The Cruel Tyrant' has a similar theme — a modern dude transmigrating and carrying the responsibility of restoring a kingdom on his shoulders, but it's a harem with different kind of MLs so even if you skip the parts of some MLs you dislike, there's still around 2-3 MLs left you can enjoy reading about. That's not to say I like every harem novel or dislike every non-harem novel though, it's just that I'll like anything as long as it won't have those insufferable characters I'm forced to sit and watch. <<less

These BL's have left lasting impressions on me in the past years. This list includes the thriller/action/horror/mystery/crime genre. This list is a part of a series classified by genre ; other lists of this series include Ancient Setting novels and  Modern/Futuristic/Transmigration novels. I tried to include both known and unknown novels to give more diversity to the reading list. 

So what is my subjective version of a quality BL of this list?

-No/little plot holes & well developed plot/mystery

-Actually thrilling

-Capable MC and ML  (not aggravatingly s*upid and know when to respect each other but also put their foot down at the right moments). . 

-Lasting impression. I made this list by memory so if it's not on here...Chances are it's not worth remembering for the list. 

-Good development of all characters--including side characters--as long as the main focus is the main couple.

-Make me cry, laugh, yell or gasp. Perhaps all at the same  time. 

*****I have also included BL novels that have high expectations from me. The higher the expectations, the higher the stars. Hence, "***, **, *."

PS. Novels I've read are the only ones rated according to number. The rest (unread) are just listed randomly.

I have a soft spot for strong MCs, unusual relationship dynamics, plotty action, and a well-developed side character cast. I tend to prefer feel-good stories over dark, overly complex ones. These stories don't have everything I like, but they're all great for at least one aspect. 4/5 = like it, 5/5 = love it! MXTX novels not included because they are classics.
