Surprisingly this one got decent start. MC that not half-ass, get thing done without some strange plot like "wow this one enemy look dangerous but he/she will surely come to my side if I talk to him" and try to get information from some if "he can get it" not always get it trought plot story. But this one isekai world people is too much. They are all really dumb. This make me want to drop it. Maybe I will put it on hold for now.

if you dont really care... more>> about other character other than MC then this one good enough for you to read it (this is my reason to not give 1 star). <<less

Well I can't really tell from which chapter since I almost read everything in 1 day... but the last 50 chapters have been really painful to read.. pointless filler and countless pov of useless character.
There is any character development whatsoever, only few lines to remind us about how MC is :

-crafty, smart, snake, op

-good natured face but not handsome/ old face

... more>> -well built for his age, (as of late chapters it shifted to average build ?)

His former friends are pushed to the background as mere aide : "the beautiful face" (twin) , old man (ninja), fierce warrior (Lione). Of course since the MC is so op, one aide will stand in awe, the other one will feel chill down their spine/amazed/fear/scared after sparring 1 or 2 lines of report with him

The pace is inconsistent, in book 6 the plot has almost not evolved after 17 chapters while in book 1 he didn't need 5 chapters about 5 different pov to build up a climax/atmosphere...

3/5 because the 3 first book were quite enjoyable <<less

This novel is not for everyone and it's hard to recommend so I will just list some pros and cons and you can decide what to do with them.

Starting with the pros

This is one of the few novels that takes a realistic approach to the kingdom building aspect, while other authors will just write half a dozen chapters about crop rotation and how the MC will teach farmers how to farm, this one actually did his homework and the MC put on an effort to build and nurture his domain,... more>> the diplomatic relations and political conflict are well written to the point where it seems that it's a middle ages history book that got hit with an isekai narrative.

The world building is great even though we're not that deep in the story yet and the writing style is very decent, the story so far is good since the novel is more reliant on it than the characters.

Now the cons

Spoiler

in what world would a 16 years old japanese high schooler would kill six armed knights and a court magician only seconds after being summoned? If he was soldier or something along those lines I would have believed that he would have some chance at it.

But you know what? That's fine there's 7 billion people on this planet who can say for sure that a high schooler like that doesn't exist and would with some luck pull off such a feat, but when you add that he's a genius at politics warfare country management trading and diplomatic relations enough to make all other characters including monarchs ministers and generals stand in awe of his competence at them that's a bit much for a 16 year old, the worst part is how much the author praise and try to make the MC a perfect existent that the whole world revolves around and the other characters only exist to praise him if they are allies and to fall in despair if they are enemies

[collapse]

Although I like the writing style but sometimes it seems that the author thinks that his readers are sub 90 IQ teenagers so he has to over explain everything in a simple way and turn the novel into a politics for dummies book to make them understand it and he doesn't seem to be able to write a decent fight to save his life, don't get me wrong the political part is really well written it's just that explaining the sh*t out of it even if it's simple is annoying.

One of the biggest problems that the novel has is the lack of a decent characterization, most of the main characters are bland and uninteresting that includes the MC too no matter how much the author tries to make a gary stu out of him he still has the japanese mc's usual blandness. However, the manga did improve that part about him so I hope the WN take the same approach in the future.

Lastly plot convenience, the first example I can think of is when he conveniently found 2 s*ave girls who are conveniently beautiful and conveniently know a magic that enables them to change masters whenever they liked, I know the plot have to move forward somehow but doing it for something unnecessary such as getting s*ave girls for the sake of wish-fulfillment is not OK.

Since the MC have high modern morals he decides to set them free but guess what? They beg him to let them be his s*aves and serve him out of gratitude so the MC ''reluctantly" except their offer, seriously if you want your MC to have s*ave harem that's fine but stop beating around the bush and just make him buy them at least it's better than the bullsh*t excuse for having s*aves because they want to be his s*aves. <<less

I guess... not bad? It had a non-cliche start, at least. But the MC is still very generic - a nice, polite guy that doesn't want to see others die and the usual stuff on JP MCs. The only thing different is that he's a bit more aggressive with fighting and he actually looks jacked as sh*t compared to those skinny ass white bois, but I don't really see any character development on the tables regarding him being a kind, generous fellow. He kinda bores me, so it's not my... more>> type of novel.

The harem girls seem kinda boring as well, they're not tsunderes at least so that's good, but... I don't really see any difference in their personalities... <<less

Novel is good, but all the politics baffle me a bit. Politics and reading people is one thing you need a lot of practice and ability to gain information from wide variety of things. And MC was all about not being bound to anything in start and although he is smart, he is still really young. And it didn't seem like he was someone who was used to leading scheming etc etc. Or did something that entails things like that in his former world.

So my conclusion is while its ok... more>> read, the story doesn't really match with how MC was portrayed. At one point he was roaming the world, and pretty much without any explanation he just goes straight to politics. And as there isn't really much/any character development or even even rise in strength it get bit boring. There is initial explanation about how people get stronger killing stuff, but there is literally no mention about MC getting power from killing stuff after that.

Falls down to a typical Japanese slice of life = boring writing style. Pretty much no emotions like excitement or whatever can be felt reading this. Its more like list of things he does. <<less

This novel has some interesting particularities, but falls short in many areas too.

It is refreshing in how everyone in the novel (MC included) seems to be of shade of grey instead of being either good or evil, with even classic "good people" that are honest, loyal and caring for others wellbeing also being depicted as flawed and sometimes even doing more damage than cruel or greedy people, turning them to be foes of the MC.

On the power level of the MC, on one side he isn't the classic OP MC... more>> who gets superhuman powers or cheats from being summoned (he is an elite strong warrior, but that's it.), but his "power level" is problematic in a different way.

The novel tries to be original having a MC that is strong from the beginning, having been strictly trained for deadly combat in japan before being summoned, but on the other side his capabilities are still s*upidly OP for an high school boy. Ok, you may have a strong phisique and crazy-good sword tecnique from being trained by your ninja grandpa since you were a child, but that doesn't even begin to explain how he is suddenly capable of becoming a perfect politician, schemer, tactician, governor and diplomat at the same time as an high school boy.

He manages to understand every little political detail or the nature of other peoples practically at glance, and he outwits even the most expert politicians, generals and schemers in a world filled with wars and backstabbing.

The novel is still well worth reading for its particularity, but I can't say I like the writing style much...

Too many things get skipped, with the MC beginning an important diplomatic or tactic discussion only for the chapter to end at half of it and skipping directly in time, showing the positive result of that, letting you have to fill the dots of what really happened and how.
Same often goes for combats.

While the chapters about the MC are cut like this, the author spends entire chapters explain marginal details, quoting famous (and LN abused) history events or historical figures, and repeating multiple times the same descriptions of the characters, continuing to repeat how that caracter is potentially capable but has "that" flaw, or how "that" decision was an error again, and again, and again, making you want to skip entire chapters altoghether since they don't add anything to the story and are just plain boring.

As other said, also, it's true that all the protagonist great intelligence often is either the result of him having unexplained genius insights (without explaining how it got to that conclusion), or in other cases they are just him using common sense and logic while the other characters, described as grand schemers before, are just being outright dumb, making him seem a genious just by comparison.

In all still an enjoyable novel, not as bad as 1 star rewievers make it seem, but still far from "the best isekai ever written" like some 5 star reviews say. <<less

Reading this was like reading one of those really bad Manhuas. It's not great but it does it's job in that it's a pretty ok read and it's good for wasting your time when you're bored.

Personally, it gets very frustrating after V5 when you realise that the plot is heavily skewed in the protagonists favor. Like he is the embodiment of plot armor vibes. Because of this, the Author doesn't provide any actual adversity of which the main character struggles or grows from. In other words, there ain't any character... more>> development.

My warning is that from V6 onwards, the pace of the story and it's writing is super slow. For example, one chapter in V6 was spent entirely deconstructing one sentence spoken by the protagonist the chapter before, and how significant it is and how it made his enemies feel etc. This is a strong reoccurring thing in this volume which makes it kinda painful to read.

When talking about politics, it's not very good. Most frustratingly is that the author will purposely skip over what is spoken in many of the 'secret' dealings that the protagonist will have with his political enemies (Aristocrats) or allies. This is clearly done to create suspense for the reader, but it really comes off as poor writing. It's especially annoying when we've got a decent build up of the enemy's character but the interaction between the two are underwhelming. Somehow, by the end of the skipped event the protagonist has convinced them to follow him. So when the accumulation of the main character's actions come to fruition and cool events do happen it's like.. Ok then.

Additional things: it's got ok kingdom building and politics, but it's very shallow writing compared to other novels like Release that Witch. I recommend just reading the Manga which skips the filler and has some decent art. Overall, knowing that this is not a professional work, the author has actually done quite a good job. His writing style just needs to develop a bit more. <<less

To tell the truth, a lot of the points said in other rewies is true:

-OP MC in the brain department

-forced encounters

... more>> -s*upid antagonists or NPCs...

And so on. But hey, let's be clear: It is not THAT bad! At least it is still enjoiable and logical to a certain point. And plot-armor is a given to a certain degree. I can overlook these smale flaws and enjoi the story, ecspecially since I see most of the things happening as being calculated and actend on the calculations by the MC, so it is no random luck. And to be faire, the MC has a lot of bad luck considering the ruling class in this novel. His luck is, that convention does not really alowes them to do with him, as they please. And THAT is realistic. Otherwise politics would nit exist at all.

However, while I am defending the story, why am I only giving 3 stars? Well, the reason is personal and happens to be not involved with the story-line or developments. It is the style of telling the story.

I do love, if a writer explains background information, other perspectives and so on. I really do, because it helps you understand the NPCs perspectiv and reason for acting. But... At least since, I think Volum 5, I get the feeling, that these enjoiable parts, have carpert the story as is. There is far more "explanation for acting" than taking action in itself. Sure, a foreing mindset must be explained to make it belivable, but it does not help, to write that and then jump over things happening, only to write the conlusion. At least for me, that is not enjoiable in the long run and starts to get labourous instead. I mean other novels do a side-Chapter for these things, with good reason. To make it more clear: This novel has a trend in the later volumes to consist of mostly Side-Chapters and jumping over normal once, if compared to the usual writing style. A bit diapointing for me...

Oh, and I can not say it is helpful, that there is so much time between the relaese of each chapter. No idea if this is contributed to the tranlation or the original author, but when writing something like this, at least Volume-Release is helpful, not to search for the assumed jumped chapter.

In conclusion, it is a rahter solid novel, with a bit of a querky writing style, and bad release-timing. A bit of a pitty, but I would like other novels to at least reach this level of writing, before destroying this work because of "common" story-elements. Do not forget, this is NOT a PROFFESINONAL work. I read worse and had to pay for it... <<less

I think that this is really the work about isekai which is enough of everything. The plot is quite interesting as the main character. For fans of the genre this will be a pleasant opening that will make you wait for new chapters

Generally interesting story, very slow plot as the author rambles through most of the chapters. Chapter seem overly thought out and pointless the verbose. The story drags as entire chapter are dedicated to comparing the rule, mechanics and customs of the two worlds the MC has live in. Similarly are the decisions made by the characters over analysed. Another big flaw of the book is that plots get built up to have unsatisfying conclusions, what I mean by this is that you never read the conclusion of a fight or... more>> battle you just read about the aftermath all while you've spent the last 5 to 10 chapters reading the overly thought out and verbose actions and thoughts of every significant character involved. Instead of giving the audience the moment of release at the end you jump straight to the aftermath. Very unsatisfying, I think the author is some kind of c*ck tease. <<less

Let's left the rate for now as I still dont know how many star I should give this.

Okay first the story is interesting, enough for me to stick for a while.

But the thing that I feel so tired is redundancy in the way author tell the story. It quite fast pace but once it go to detail it always give too much detail and also most of it is something you know already and dont need to know (like 1 + 1 = 2, if you burn a house it... more>> will return to ash,....). So it prolong the story just to building the world then dont use it, a really waste of brain cell to process those.

Spoiler

When the story come to slow information spread it will got this pattern (slow spread information >>Bcuz long distance >>> Bcuz there is no modern radio >>> Bcuz it is medival time >>> So there is abc >>> Then xyz)

[collapse]

And the author dont just once but will constantly remind you about that useless detail for the entire of story.

But for overall it is decent I guess, maybe the LN version better as they have proof-reader. <<less

It's a good novel to read at first, My first impression was good and I somewhat enjoy reading it until the author inserted the political nonsense thing. It was thrown with endless POV of random characters about politics and war and I feel like I somehow lost the original taste of the story.

I use to look forward to the translation but I have yet to see any improvement in the story that well somewhat distance it from political B*llsh*t theme. War is good in a story but to much political... more>> nonsense is annoying.

All the character MC meet became background characters, even supporting characters would have been nice but the author seems love to troll and just hide them behind the shadow while they appear in some chapters with very few lines in them.

In other words the Political Bullsh*ting nonsense destroyed this novel.

I gave it 3 stars since like I said I did love reading this novel at first until

Spoiler

The MC obtain his own land from the Queen he save this was the start where the story became boring and was tr*sh with to much political nonsense.

The MC is seems to pursue all personalities to the extreme. Sometimes calm and other times calculating? Sure. Sometimes depressed and sometimes furious to the extreme? Yes. His personality is all over the place! It's a pain in the ass to think you understand someone, only to see him redirect his rage to someone telling it straight. So... I find this mediocre... The MC is a chameleon no matter how I see it, and his emotions are dyed by the situation. This problem irritates me to the extreme. And if... more>> this personality is intended for the MC, then I can only say this is not for me <<less

Start of this novel shows promise but the author tends to lose his way a little but about half way through the translated chapters but it then start's to pick up and it's clear that the story is starting to actually go somewhere.

The side characters are ok and if im honest not alot of though went into them although there are some gems Elena for one which you meet later in the story.

In conclusion if you want to read a novel which has got a interesting story and... more>> semi-ok MC this story is for you!! <<less

This novel is probably the best kingdom building type novel on this site. It has many cliches such as the almost omnipotent ruthless protagonist, but the whole genre really wouldn't work if you don't have that type of protagonist or you would have a totally different type of series. A lone person with modern sensibilities transported to a hostile world of conniving, genocidal, rapist nobles? 99.99% of people would probably be ens*aved, so the near omnipotent protagonist works here.

It helps that it becomes central theme. It doesn't become a... more>> constant "nani!?" moments of surprised villains overpowered by the op hero seen the typical Japanese novel. Everyone including his allies are suspicious and fearful of him b/c of those exact qualities and that becomes a central factor in how the plot evolves.

This reads more of those Chinese Three Kindgoms type novel with opposing fraction and nobles, without outrageous excesses of super powers, outrageous harems and near instant infallible decision making typically found in Chinese novels. The main character in those novel is more of a slow burner, he plays 4d chess while everyone else is playing checkers. He plans and plans putting pieces on the board, and while he does have a bit of plot armor, his actions for the most part aren't outside the realm of believability. <<less
