Xie Luan had always believed in science until one day, a meteorite smashed into his yard, forcing him to bind to a heroic world saving script. The worst thing was that the script didn’t even follow common sense.

Others become superheroes while he became a super-nanny. So in his left hand was a “Cub Encyclopedia” and in the right, a small milk bottle to feed the small cub clinging onto his leg.

Today, Xie Luan is trying his best to save the world.

This is purely adorable. One of the rare novels that I read through MTL till the end. The MC is one of those humans that are just too kind and the world needs more people like him. I loved almost about everything. Although the ending made me wish for more.

This is all fluff and also with the right amount of feels, especially in the part where...

After reading the reviews, I went in expecting nothing but fluff, fully knowing that I'd have to suspend my disbelief a lot and that the entire universe will probably bend over backward to make everything go the MC's way... yet I still ended up disappointed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that so many people find joy and comfort in it. I enjoyed it quite a lot in the beginning as well. But the more the story dragged on without actually adding any new elements while reinforcing the feeling that not... more>> much effort was actually put into the story, the more of a chore it became to read. My suspension of disbelief just couldn't keep up with all the logical holes and lacklusterness.

Let's start with the plus points:

No drama or angst, no misunderstandings bogging it down, no slew of brainless villains beating down the door to come and be face-slapped, and any issues that pop up are dealt with quickly, so no stress.

The MC does genuinely care for all the cubs, so it's heartwarming for the most part.

The tone is consistently lighthearted and it's pretty easy to read.

No non-con, at least until the point where I stopped.

Now for the rest:

The MC undergoes a partial transmigration, where he can switch between his original world and the futuristic alternate world each time he sleeps. But the premise is severely underutilized and after a few chapters in the beginning, it's never mentioned again. Even his previous occupation as an artist is barely mentioned but never used.

The world building is so vague that a lot of things don't even make sense. There's no attempt at explaining why things are the way they are. For example:

Spoiler

Why do parents chuck their cubs into the clubs and seem to barely care about not spending time with them during their important formative years? It's to the point where when a couple of cubs take part in competitions/tests, it was the MC who accompanies them throughout while the parents literally stand aside doing nothing. Why is the only education given related to militaristic combat when these cubs are literally 1 or 2 years old? Do they do anything other than learning combat, playing, and eating? If they're never taught basic knowledge other than fighting, how are they going to function in society later?

[collapse]

I was expecting to be charmed by the various cubs' different personalities, their cute or funny antics, and how the MC will deal with an array of different alien species' children and their unique needs when he's inexperienced in childrearing.

Well, there was none of that, because:

Spoiler

The entirety of the cubs' personalities can be defined as 1000% unconditional trust, affection, and dependence towards the MC, and the only ways the cubs are described is obedient, good, well-behaved, and other ban*l variants. They never make a fuss or cause the MC any trouble. If any of them have disabilities or psychological traumas, it's healed within days or weeks of basking in the MC's loving presence. No physical assessment or psychological counselling by a professional is even considered or needed, apparently.

The MC doesn't have to train or go through a learning period, he's just suddenly an expert at dealing with every cub in the universe. All the certifications and training of the other caretakers fail utterly in comparison to the MC stroking a cub's head and calling it baby a couple of times. Every single cub is won over completely within seconds or minutes of meeting the MC, no exceptions. And yes, this repeats throughout the story with very little difference, even in the wording. Even adults aren't immune to this.

It's to the point where, when MC ends up in an alternate timeline where the cubs have all grown up without him and became cold and ruthless tyrants going around destroying planets, all they need is to see the MC's memories of them together in another timeline and all these mighty and fearsome aliens immediately start wanting hugs and head pats from the MC, and practically revolve around him.

If there's any problem the MC's not-so-impressive problem solving ability can't resolve, don't worry, there'll be an unimaginably coincidental solution dropped right into his lap.

[collapse]

Another thing that bothered me was when the MC applies for a job at the club:

Spoiler

No one asks for any identification or legal documents, or even wonders whether there could be anything shady with this random human. They just enthusiastically agree. Considering he would be working with children, the lack of care is pretty inappropriate. Seems like a child predator with a criminal record could've walked in and they would've ignorantly given them the job.

Considering the MC later agreed to get together with one of the cubs he literally knew as an egg, I suppose that's not far from what happened. Pasting a shallow explanation that the ML's species conveniently become adults quickly doesn't make it any less immoral. The fact that no one seems to bat an eye at their relationship is just as concerning.

[collapse]

The entire setting seems oddly outdated and backward for something that's supposed to be the future. They could replace 'planets' with 'countries' or 'cities' and there'd be no difference. Except for one scene with an environment simulator, nothing seems futuristic at all, even the childcare methods. In fact, taking care of these cubs seems simpler than taking care of a houseplant.

The MC is supposed to be the only human in that part of the universe, yet it seems even the author forgets that since characters sometimes don't get a racial description and seem pretty much human in all ways. The aliens all follow human logic, societal structures, and behaviors without any notable variation. Any differences lie solely in their unimaginative, Earth-animal-like appearances. For some reason, almost all of them can assume humanoid form as adults, which makes them feel even less believably alien.

Even the planets all seem like copy-pastes of Earth. The most 'fantastical' thing the MC experienced was a planet with two moons. Considering how many planets in our own solar system have more than one moon, why is that even surprising?

While there's an overarching plot about the ML's and his extinct species' circumstances, again, it's severely underutilized. There's 30 more chapters and no one seems to even care about investigating about the potential end of the world.

The ML himself seems like a thin, transparent sheet of ice: usually invisible in the background and only ever described as cold. He never has any thoughts or opinions except when it concerns the MC. Except for his inexplicably strong devotion to the MC, there's literally nothing else to him. He barely speaks a handful of words throughout. He could disappear halfway and it'd be unnoticeable.

Despite everything, I didn't actually hate anyone, even the MC or ML. But they're all just so one-dimensional that I can't bring myself to respect them as characters in their own right. While I did enjoy a good portion of the beginning, the characters never gain any depth and the overall lack of logic gets more and more distracting, so I've decided to drop it. <<less

This... this is simply a perfect mix of childcare/ club development and plot! Really really well written!

Though there are some questions on why the MC was chosen and where he even got his OP skills of coaxing cubs from and what happens in the ‘real’ world, everything else is beautifully written and all (I think) foreshadowing and emphasis of matter (like things the author emphasised on or hinted at or touched on) had closure! I also felt that the futuristic setting also wasn’t really developed and didn’t seem interstellar-ly enough... more>> and certain things (ie money making scheme, food stuff, military stuff, combat training stuff) could have been more developed (meh it may change the type of story if it did but it would have been nice if it was nicely developed instead of a touch and go) but other than that, everything else was great.

The story started of with how the MC slowly developed the club and care for the cubs by loving them and getting them through their traumas and problems. Most cubs mentioned (expect the poor Takila cub) had sufficient screen time. There is no feeling of ‘touch then disappear’ (where the cubs are mentioned, problem solved and then never to see them again) even though there were quite a few main cubs.

As the caring of the cubs goes on, the romance (not too much about it though) and the plot unfolds. The plot isn’t too heavy. It can be seen that it plays a role in the story (it is the focus but not at the same time, read it to get what I mean!) and was present throughout, not jumping out of nowhere, but not much drama or chapters were put to the resolution of the plot. It was nicely developed and quite well resolved.

The MC is part of the OP protagonist category:

✅ Ridiculously caring, patient and knowledgeable when coaxing and caring for the cubs

✅ Super duper high mental/ spiritual ability

✅ High affinity towards cubs

✅ Dude has so much love to give, like so much!

He is so gentle and loving but this wasn’t hinted when he was in the real world though, and rather the opposite was hinted.

The ML, wells I really have nothing to write on about the ML. He was there throughout and he brushes up is presence a lot, but his role wasn’t much... ? There was somewhat of a character development (maybe... ?) and he plays a major role in the plot.

The last few chapters... ABSOLUTE GEMS! When you feel like it has ended lo and behold another well written chapter pops up! And the very last chapter was an unexpected bonus! An alternate ending everyone! There was an author note that state that she would be writing about the children when they grow up and some other extras on Weibo but I couldn’t find them T^T Drop me a message if you manage to find the raws!

Overall, a really really really good read! If you like ADORABLE CUBS, childcare, children development, club/ association development/ management (somewhat like business management but for this non-profit club) and a decent plot flow, this is definitely for you! Not for those seeking super interstellar-ry, military troupe and fluff seeker. Casual passerby READ IT! You’ll have no regrets! <<less

4.0/5.0*

Novel was OK, but not as great as I hoped seeing all the reviews.

Cubs were fun and cute, but that merely is all what it is about. After a while it gets boring, because it is a bit too much of the same.

In these interstellar stories Im already used to the fact that romance only plays a minor role.

What I found the most interesting is that in the end the story about ML and his race is explained.

One reviewers said that this is either a hate it or love it novel. I’m sadly the former type.

For some reason, this novel was... boring. It was a typical Mary Sue story with repeating plot device. I was literally skipping chapters to get it over with. And I’m not a slice-of-life hater, it’s just this novel was very slow. In everything. It felt dull and bland and the MC really didn’t face any challenges. Anything he did ended up in success... So in short, boring. Not exciting at all, nor... more>> something that makes you squeal from all the fluff.

At least for me. This novel is definitely a 50/50 love hate scenario so I encourage you to try it out. Shout out to the translators for the wonderful job. <<less

If you took Mary poppins and care bears and mashed them together, then set it in the world of star trek, you would have this.

Adorable little baby aliens that mostly look like bunnies, kittens and puppies with horns are being raised by a young man who constantly cuddles them and tells them how good they are.

This is a cotton candy fluff fest of a story.

There is a bit of a sad alternate time line and possible future storyline that is hinted at, but the power of love and hugs will... more>> save the world.

I love this Book!!

PLOT

The Plot is pretty good and is very well constructed. It has humour, romance, slice of life etc. It's a very Fluffy Novel - The kind of novel which makes you feel like you are hugging the most comfortable stuffed toy ever. There is basically no angst. It can be considered as a relaxing agent or a break from all the heavy plots.

... more>> CHARACTERS

The MC s very OP - Easily being the best caretaker, not being like the others who doesn't realize the needs of the cubs. The MC is very good in that aspect. The ML is also one of the most powerful species. The nursery which can barely survive has a Major General as Security (Though I felt like Zarad was just there for show - There is basically not much plot development from him). The Main characters are basically just the MC, ML and the cubs. The side characters don't have much depth or much screen time but that doesn't make the book less lovely.

MY FEELINGS

As I said before, This Book doesn't have much character depth or anything - It's just focused on the MC taking care of the cubs and making the nursery famous. But that's not all - There are many side plots which are very well written. Everything is explained from the reason for the transmigration to the lives of the cubs without the MC - Which made my heart ache.

This book is definitely a great story but if you are looking for a book with heavy plot and character building - This is not for you but if you re here for a good story with a great plot with a hella load of fluff - Then welcome! <<less

I wasn't sure how to rate this book. While I did enjoy it, I must admit that it's not the best-written novel out there. The world-building was lacking and the plot was not that exciting.

I wanted to read something light and cute, and this was a great choice at that moment. Fluffy cubs and cuteness overload were provided. Don't expect anything more from this novel.

If you love fluffy then you might love this novel but the fluffy I means is like the atmosphere but not in romance way, I love this one but it's only 4 star for me, the reason I only gave 4 despite of 5 it is because of its novel lack the

romance development on its ML and MC

Hmm, it's quite pity to be honest, I personally would like to see more of Romance development between them... Since you know, it's Romance Shounen Ai 👉🙈

Sorry for my bad grammar..

This novel is a masterpiece. It is a gem, and no one can make me think otherwise.

The story is fun and heartwarming. It heals my soul, and my heart feels full after reading it. Everything in this story is an absolute joy; all the characters are nice and lovable, the main plot is well-written, and the side plots are fun to read. Despite the story taking up to 130 chapters, there's not a single dull moment.

Initially, I thought it would be like other cub-raising novels, solely focused on fluff and... more>> with a shallow storyline. However, it's far from that (even though the cubs remain incredibly adorable, and there's a good dose of fluff). The true beauty lies in how the MC instills self-esteem, love, and confidence in the little ones. While it may not be as intricate or thrilling as other genres, the fact that I can recall most of the events in this novel speaks to its success.

What I like most is, no doubt, the interaction between the MC and the cubs. They are lovely, and each cub's story is deeply touching and heartwarming. There are times when I find myself both crying and smiling at the same time while reading it. 🥲 All the cubs are so well-behaved and adorable, with Muka cub holding a special place in my heart. I can't help but wish I could raise him myself!

*By the way, I've been on the lookout for the extras of the cubs on Weibo, but I can't seem to find them. If you saw it anywhere, please dm me.

Come to think of it, the reason why I love this novel so much might have something to do with how well the author balances the romance and cub-raising aspects. As the focus is more on the cub-raising rather than the development of romantic feelings between the two protagonists (though there is still a sufficient amount of romance, and they are very sweet together), it makes the story more enjoyable for me, for which I'm genuinely grateful.

Additionally, the author is also very careful and detailed with her writing. Aside from the K** something cub (the one resembling a rabbit, sorry I forgot the name), the rest of the cubs, including ML, all have fair share of their own stories. Even the two eggs and the Moye cub (basically, every character that appeared in the story), who I thought the author had already forgotten about, have their own moments to shine, which is truly wonderful. <<less

To be honest, I enjoyed reading this, but if I had to rate this novel, I really wouldn't give it much. I read this without a thought besides 'why not?' and finished it. I enjoyed it. The Cubs were cute, the pacing was not too slow nor too fast for a slice of life, and I enjoyed the character interactions/heartwarming moments. But when I started writing this review, I thought back to the things that happened in the story and it came to me. Isn't this story sort of mediocre?

The... more>> world-building is honestly very chaotic. From the start to end I still don't understand how the world in this novel works, and many details aren't well thought out or just omitted in the first place. The MC is a complete Gary Stu. Keep in mind I don't mind OP characters, but only if they have a reason to be. MC just got a meteor crashed into his front yard and miraculously chosen as the hero to save the day!... by working at a children's nursery? His reactions to his situation is honestly something I find hard to believe. Moreover, MC just miraculously attracts all Cubs in a 100km radius to want him as a guardian and as I said, the OP thing has no explanation at all. Many things don't even have a clear or understandable plot line to them. I had to guess my way through what was happening in the clock tower time warp arc.
Spoiler

Why is he chosen? what's with the parallel worlds? What does destruction have to do with the Cubs?

[collapse]

There are also characters that get mentioned but get thrown away into the 'who is this guy' tr*sh can and only appears after 100 chapters, and that person does not even affect the plot. His appearance at the beginning of the novel made me think hunk he was an important guy, turns out he was just minor-character-whose-name-I-don't-remember #4. The romance could be nice if you ignore the fact that the ML is a 1 year old adult (apparently) and the whole 'you are the sole reason I live' kind of thing that didn't pass as well-written to me. Could the novel do more well without the romance? Well, yes, most likely. But I guess that means less fujoshis and less money for the author, so there's not much helping it.

Granted, the Cubs and slice of life is nice and fluffy, so do that if it's for you. I guess I'm just frustrated that I enjoyed it, and some other parts beside the slice of life annoyed me. It's not a terrible novel though, I guess. <<less

I have never wanted a mermaid child more after reading this novel...

A combination of I'm Not Human with the cub-raising qualities of I'm Using the Interstellar Live Broadcast to Raise Cubs. Both are incredibly cute & fluffy. ML reminds me too much of a zerg & I swear that nox/knox & zerg can be used interchangeably..

Read it through MTL the first time around & now that I'm reading it again for the second time, the plot does kinda fall flat. It's a really good novel if you're wanting... more>> fluff & cub-raising action. You won't get anything more than that. I read from the translation and went to Google Translate when story was slow on the update.

3 stars out of 5 stars. The spoiler would explain why.

The story was really fluffy and cute.

Spoiler

The descriptions and interactions with the cubs were really heartwarming. That said, it would have been nice if the steamy moments had been more elaborate in the telling of the story and that the plot of the story went a little longer.

I mean, somehow, I felt like things were a bit rushed. Like characters were being introduced left and right and the involvement of them in the plot was quite rather few. If only this novel had been longer then maybe the things would be shown/explained better.

Plus, why did have to introduce the parallel world to the story? It was heart breaking to think that the parallel line would be left alone for the rest of their lives. Sure, as much as the author decided to just "merge" or "fuse" the memories of these two world lines, would they still be the same individual? Just thinking about it made my chest ache.

Thinking about it, it would have been better if the author made Chapter 130's hypothetical plot become the two time lines' outcome. I mean, maybe it would have been better if Xie Luan's Gaia Star was actually somewhat destroyed and because of that the Universe/Gods would have just chosen to actually fully fuse the two time lines and make it seem like the people would just have duplicates. The diminished population of the two timelines would be replenished by the remaining people alive who would help together to build anew. Moreover, think of the possibilities... Xie Luan would have a 3P and be lovingly sandwhiched by 2 Yayis (LOL) and the older and younger versions of the babies would have their moments of fun/fluff and disagreements.

The author could basically expand the story with that and make a sequel or something.

Anyway, to anyone who is reading this, sorry for the rant. It was just that I was really dissatisfied with the ending.I mean, for me it was quite rather rushed and the outcome was... Meh...

Translation was perfect. This is probably one of the only novels that I’ve read and I didn’t spot any mistakes. A really high quality translation.

As for the novel itself, I originally intended to rate it 5 stars because even though it’s very predictable, it was an enjoyable read.
Spoiler

MC is predictably a gentle soul Mother Mary type that everyone loves, and his existence is even more unique because the strongest existence in the world aka ML only has eyes for MC. And MC is of course the chosen one that was picked to save the world.

[collapse]

But the last 10 or so chapters was frankly baffling and I don’t think I’ve read another novel that had the climax resolved so quickly and casually.
Spoiler

So much foreshadowing was done about this superior alien zerg race that has technology light years ahead of everyone else and with some voodoo tattoos that can feed off a person’s emotions and turn them into some kind of energy source. It frankly doesn’t make sense. All the alien races having some biological advantage that translates to fantastical abilities is still plausible but what is this black magic tattoo nonsense? How is this scientific? And why would the master race with all the technological advantages rely on something so unscientific to be their secret weapon? And ML used the same warship that was the Nox’s master weapon to push this master race to the brink of defeat but his clan in all their glory couldn’t do the same, and they had to resort to self-implosion to cause temporary damage to the enemy? And what the hell is ML’s ability? Is it black holes or mental suppression? And how did not a single race notice the war going on in the Nox’s backyard when it all went down 30 years ago? And the world lines and world consciousness? Where is the science? And Xia Zuo is the most unscientific character. If he could do all that sh*t he should have just gone back in time and told the nox royalty the future. I’m sure they would believe a random floating golden ball when all their scientific evidence points to the same result.

[collapse]

Honestly, I have more questions but I know they can all be answered with one sentence - author couldn’t be bothered with the plot and they just wanted to get over the climax, end of with a few fluffy scenes and call it a day. That already pissed me off as is but author decided to include a s*upid chapter about the world lines merging than miraculously letting MC and his rag tag family meet their alternate selves in a different time line. Firstly, I’m sure if the will of the world really exists then the same person cannot exist as 2 different people in the same reality. Secondly, just why? And lastly, f*ck off there’s no way a s*upid golden orb that’s about to disappear can grant a wish like that.

I deeply regret not having the mental willpower to give up when I realised the author did not give a sh*t about logic and I will absolutely not read this again.
