I'm only on chapter 22, but I really enjoy reading this novel so far, and it's truly a hilarious read. At times, it's also so cute that I get second hand embarrassment lol (~>_<) ~. The plot is also very interesting and it leaves me wondering how everything will be revealed.

The characters are also not shallow as each of them have their own distinct personalities, and even the most disliked characters have their own understandable reasons for doing the things that gives them the "dislike" label. I especially like the... more>> MC and his System (their interactions leave me dying in laughter). I find the ML extremely sexy too. At first, I thought he was going to be a really sadistic seme (which I'm neutral towards), but then.... \ (0////0) / <— only this face can describe how I felt after knowing more about him.

What I also found that was really interesting was the MC's condition of needing to fulfill a certain amount of tasks given by his System and the unbreakable OOC rule (is this considered spoiler? Idk ;~;). This is one of the reasons why this novel is different from the other bl novels that include a system. Heck, this MC's System is also so much more awesome and loveable. I always look forward to how the MC will try to outsmart his System.

If anyone needs a comedic, adorable, and unique read, this is the novel for you! Seriously, I love the funny scenes. Here's one of my faves (I'm sure this is a spoiler this time) :

MC was cross-dressing and he pulled out the peaches he used for b**bs and ate them. He had to use pomegranates as his new "boobs, " which made him look like he had a bigger sack. Lmao

This is an okay novel with a lot left unsolved. It's a light read with a lot of potential that just left me with more questions. The translator kept popping up a bit too much also.

It's never directly explained why the MC had to live as a girl, the MC was never completely free of the system so the MC and ML never felt like a real couple and therefore the MC was also never able to really express himself. As for the end the final fight against the demon lord was anticlimactic (was part of the story missing?).

Much better than expected. I was put off by the summary but I like the translator, read several novels and short stories on her website so I gave it a try... And didn’t disappoint.

I appreciated IAmABananas' attention to reminding the readers of who is who and giving a simplified break down of complex idioms and scene descriptions.

I really love reading Banana-san's translator's notes. (◍•ᴗ•◍) ❤ The story is very light and fluffy. I really loved it. I also really appreciate Banana-san's notes. Like when there is a 'he', next to it would be the character that the 'he' is referring to.

To be perfectly honest, this is a pretty typical novel. MC is transmigrated into a cultivation world (with demons) into a male body that is pretending to be a female. MC is weak, MC meets ML, MC is protected by ML, MC heart melts from a relatively cold-hearted person to someone who loves ML, solves mystery and (smut and) happily ever after. Nothing overly special, but for some reason, it brought about a sense of contentment. It wasn't overly interesting, but it was nice to read, and I had no... more>> issue with it other than it being pretty typical and predictable.

It just made me happy reading it tho, so 5/5 :)

Also, there was no relation to hamsters other than author saying that MC and ML seem like hamster and melon seed.... <<less

MC starts out being forced to pretend to be a girl but dies get found out pretty early on. The ML falls in love and I would like to say that it's just fluff and a cute story... But, there's a plot and the MC doesn't let himself fall in love. He wants to complete his tasks and go back home. It's a cool story and I really like it.

How is it that I find the story really boring? Maybe because of the slow progress? Or maybe because I am irritated with the system's sly nature? Or maybe because the MC is so damn slow, weak, indecisive and annoying. I think its only because of the slow progress, I guess. I stopped reading after a few chapters tho.

Very good. It has a nice pace and everything feels as if natural but one thing that confused me...

JY seems to have no feelings towards JiXi in that way even though he died to save him. And I wonder if JY told YJC about his transmigration. JY promised to tell YJC the reason why he always wanted to leave YJC.

Other than these, the story plot is very good especially the way each thing is revealed slowly but timely.

I liked the novel overall, but Im not entirely satisfied because there are some important things unresolved at the end, like:

did the MC tell ML about his transmigration and his past life and what happened then?

did he even tell his familiy and all the world that he is indeed a man and not a woman?

which isn't true..... and actually everyone was itching to kill that bastard, so in the end they used YJC's bad reputation to cover their act and so the mysteries of Agatha Christie's began.

The MC (bride) is one of those many who transmigrated and received a system with quests and all, but unlike those op MCs his body sucks and, as consequence, is kind like a damsel in distress (as of the latest chapter, 22). So, stuck with a tr*sh body, an hilarious system he has to strive to complete the quests.

the MC was actually intelligent enough to start to make gradual changes on his persona, thus making Ji Yuan to be more and more similar to his real self and minimizing the risk of OOC and thus protecting dear life. The interaction between the MC and ML at first was rather cold (the kidnapped and kidnapper), but after the MC started to journey together it started to loosen up.

And the MC is a gay dude that sometimes seems rather conflicted over wanting to grab YJC, but he have to get it off from his head, after all YJC is rather troublesome (but not that bad person, more like "don't step in my feet or rub me wrong and you be fine") and a straight guy........ dear cocolot13579, the one who was groped up and down (just not the bird) by a gay guy wasn't the MC, the MC is the one who made the groping on YJC (and the MC liked A LOT of what he felt and I have my doubts that YJC was actually feigning unconscious and just left the MC do what he wanted to see what was his aim) and our MC isn't disgusted at all with YJC.......... since there's already a spoiler tag....

This is one of the fell romance novels (be bl or bg) that there's no lil b*tch trying to get in the way, the female supporting character is actually likable and if there was a oneshot or short story about her development I would read.

After diving into 2ha for the last x months, I got back into my usual novel grind—and what a return this was!

Short and sweet but with angst and a great boss fight at the end. A 100% HE! If that’s not enough reason, here’s why you should read:

  • Sometimes, transmigration stories focus more on the plot and ML; you’re stuck with a plain-ass shou MC. But although Ji Yuan appears acquiescent at first and like your typical millennial gay commenting on xianxia China, the readers are treated to deeper inner turmoil and family secrets that motivate his xianxia adventure.
  • The relationship between Ji Yuan (MC) and Ye Junchi (ML) deepens not because of relational drama, but because the two of them are pulled into a mystery together and need to solve it at the benefit of both of them. YJC pretty quickly identifies his attraction to “little beauty” JY, but JY is held back by the OOC function of his transmigrator System... it’s a great if tropey way to introduce chemistry that doesn’t feel forced but at the same time feels earned.
  • Speaking of the System oh my god the banter between it and JY was absolutely hilarious; System is a comedic genius and my only wish in the book is at the end

  • Truly the only downside to the book is perhaps a bit of xianxia-typical plot convolution, since by the end it was a tad difficult to remember why the big boss wanted to

    frame YJC for mu*der and kidnap JY’s father in the first place, since the boss wouldn’t know that JY is YJC’s weakness until the end.

    The author does a good job of explaining most peoples’ motivations and connections, but the boss’s initial actions don’t make as much sense if you think too hard.
  • (only other “downside” is no explicit sm*t... some hot kissing scenes but nothing hard >n< ~~)
  • The 1 reason you don’t finish this book may be the TL... maybe 50% of verbs were not in the proper tense (switching from past to present to pluperfect/past perfect tense in the same sentence). The TLer did a better job than MTL but if you find it hard to ignore grammar mistakes, this may be a difficult read.
Truly a great return from the angst-heavy 2ha, and definitely an author I will be keeping an eye on. Xoxo so happy hamster Ye Junchi and his wifey melon seed Ji Yuan got their sweet ending ~<3

The chapter 59 is not complete! I don't understand why the translator omitted something as crucial as the ending, but I appreciate the comment that alerted me to it.

After reading this novel and enjoying it, I came back to check the reviews and found some comments on certain topics that I wanted to address.

Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to the translator for their hard work. I truly appreciate the time and effort dedicated to translating this novel for other readers. Considering the number of chapters, genres, and tags, was a magnificent plot really expected? From the start, it was clear that this is a light and straightforward novel, with subtle suspense that complements the story.

When reading the synopsis, we understand that the relationship between MC and the System will be prominent, and System appearances will be frequent. If this dynamic isn't to your liking, I would recommend refraining from negative comments and choosing readings more aligned with your preferences. There are those who enjoy these interactions between MC and their System, and it's important to respect that diversity of tastes.

Now, MC is a character who grew up being cautious with their "brothers and sisters, " reaching a point of distrusting the only person who truly cared for them and ultimately sacrificed themselves. Dealing with feelings of hatred and guilt, they decide to seek revenge, but at the same time, they also aim to rid themselves of those problems and enjoy life.

Later, MC transmigrates and encounters the System, with whom they share conversations and jokes while completing tasks to return to their world. Although the plot leads them to discover secrets related to cultivation world leaders, ML, and the original body, MC is not particularly motivated by these mysteries. They do it because it's an assigned task, one of the individuals involved is the reincarnation of someone important, and they want to improve ML's reputation, without feeling a deep connection to the identity of the original body.

MC's perspective on their involvement in the story, especially when deciding to stay and care for Ji Shen from a distance and explore a relationship with ML, adds a new layer of complexity. It offers a unique viewpoint compared to other protagonists who quickly immerse themselves in the role of the original body.

In conclusion, I would recommend reading the synopsis and tags before starting the novel. If the premise appeals to you, give it a chance; you may find a fresh and engaging perspective in this story. <<less

This is the first novel I've read from this translator and I have found a new favorite

The novel is a 3.5 star, not much character growth and the mystery is a bit lacking but it kept my interest

The reason this is a 5 star review is the translator. I love the translators notes, it really did feel like I was reading this with a friend

I'm going to go read the rest of the translations from Banana now

Wow, it's good, but the ending was rushed and feel like the author doesn't know how to end it, well.. The ending is actually logical, but to make an ending just with one sentence? I don't think that's a good idea, somehow I don't feel this novel was complate, even though you read the extras until finish there's no absolute ending on it, ... more>>

I don't have much to say. I liked it and yet not enough. However it deserves a 5 star from me.

For a short story, (yes, short! Have you seen the other novels?!!? They are in the hundreds!!) They had a bit of character development, very good plot, good story telling, and the translator was awesome, thank you for your hard work!

I was a bit annoyed at the beginning because some of the thought process by the main character didn't make sense, but once you passed that, it became a... more>> lot more fun to read. <<less

It's interesting enough to make me want to continue reading and not drop it. The plot flows smoothly and there isn't really much filler sentences, which is what you'll expect from short novels. I love the interaction between MC and ML.

MC 'changed' back to being a male quite fast, which basically means he stopped pretending to be a female in like 10 chapters or less. I don't really get why the original body has to pretend to be a female in the first place. The system seems cold at first... more>> but is actually secretly supports the MC and ML. The story is not all about romance and there is also a legit plot present, but the first 30 or so chapters mainly focuses on romance I guess. Also, props to the translator for awesome translation.

Stopped just because I wasn't in the mood anymore? I didn't expect an action packed read which is honestly my fault cause I was only intrigued by the comedic undertone of the summary and didn't look at the tags. It's good, funny, good backstory/reasons/explanations/connections of plot. It was short obv compared to others but it's nice. ML is really good and wronged, MC is funny, I like how they both got their own luggage they were carrying hahahah it's nice. Characters are reused well since its short.

What a fun story with a bit of a mystery thrown in (though not that much of one). The ending did feel a bit rushed, but I guess the main point of the story was to follow the relationship development between the demon and his love interest. The characters and translator added a great deal of humor to the story.

OK cultivation/system novel with disturbing consent issues.

Docked one point because the story was mediocre and another bc the consent issues made me cringe.

I think it was supposed to be consensual and fluffy, but it didn't come across this way.

The MC never initiated anything s*xual and kept saying stuff like "no" and "please stop" etc.

The ML was very demanding when it came to s*x. Like telling the MC to give him a bj, yet never reciprocating. Why??? He would probably like one too!
