Our protagonist Caam is a man from Earth that was reincarnated into this world as a demon. In order to survive, he spared no effort in avoiding the sparks of battle and without noticing it, he became strong himself.

Then, one day a demon that is stronger than himself suddenly appeared in front of his eyes. The demon said 「You seem quite strong. Don’t you think someone that strong should become a Demon Lord?」. He tried to negotiate but he had no right to refuse.

Here goes my rant about this WN

The TL quality is alright ant first twenty chapters seemed kind of interesting but the story (or any semblance of it) stopped completely, being replaced by MC moving to town and choosing to make bricks for a living. There was a demon lord mentioned in the title, how did this devolve into an old fart doing manual labor to earn some money? The mentality of the MC is debilitating but it’s not as I can’t imagine a 40 yo man behaving like this. The... more>> problem is that my own job at tech support and my shopping trips to the nearest store are on par if not more interesting than 70% of what I have read here and it is supposed to be a fantasy novel.

While fighting, magic and some interactions with MC’s friends and family are pretty fun, most of the novel felt like a giant filler arc. There is almost no character development after MC goes through his first year in school, so he doesn’t show any initiative. His passive outlook on life really fits a guy who died by choking on some mochi. I imagined that being able to use magic and easily acquire new skills would inspire him to take some risks and face some challenges but for some reason none of these things happen. Is the main character supposed to be an old man lacking imagination and any strive for adventure? What is the point of this being an isekai novel then?

Why would the author create such a MC is beyond my comprehension. You can try reading this but as one of previous reviews said (which I chose to ignore in favor of 5 star ones) this novel is so boring that a piece of technical documentation is a more enticing read.

The guys who reached c50+ deserve my utmost respect as I could not fathom the amount of patience they possess. <<less

This is incredibly annoying to read. It reads like someone's stream of consciousness where topics jump from one to another for no reason. As of c7 nothing seems to have happened other than the protagonist being a typical Japanese herbivore male and slow skill ups. There is no plot yet and the introduction to the world so far has been almost non-existent. At this point most authors would have done something to hook a prospective reader but right now there's nothing at all on offer.

At first I procrastinated for a long time on whether or not I should read this because of the mixed reviews but I actually enjoyed it a lot although the main character could man up a little and stop being a coward and do some more subjugation request he steps up when he needs to and hopefully in the upcoming chapters we will see him display some of his power that he’s kept hidden. If you like a slice of life comedy with some romance and action in a other... more>> world setting this is a good read it’s got all the classic aspects like guilds and such but also some originality as well that sets it apart from most other world novels. <<less

Hmmm its still too early to give definite review since the number chapter is not much and the story have not gone so far.. The MC quite good, have power but not that OP and his knowledge not breaking common sense which is good, think maturely and rational like he is really 30s before, no bullsh*t explanation and just normal gamey feature, need more action for me tho
Enjoy its so far and I expect more from this

Decent read if you ignore a couple of faults. The biggest problems are the writing style, pacing, and character ages. I really wish this was a translation of the light novel as I feel that a lot of the current issues would be ironed out.

The story starts off like most isekai, MC Dies > Meets a God > Gets reincarnated. Unfortunately, the writing style is hard to follow so while chapter 1 starts off like the character is a baby the MC is actually recounting events from when he was... more>> new born, 6 months old, 1 year old, and 2 years old while the character is currently 5 years old and about to start school. The story takes a really strange turn because at 5 years old children look like they are between 10 and 20 years old, but are (supposedly) only as mature as their age suggests. I was really hoping there was a good reason for a demon's body to mature so quickly but if there is it hasn't been covered yet. The only reason I can see is that the author didn't feel like making writing 15 years of back story as all of the kids are act and art treated like their in their mid to late teens. The pacing is ultimately really weird, there's really not a good indicator of time between the first chapter and the 7th chapter and as the story reads a lot like an overview everything feels sort of ambiguous.
I would describe the main character as a pretty typical dumb isekai MC but rather being extremely dense I would say he is willfully ignorant up until he can't be anymore.

For the "herbivore" and "beta" reviews left around this chapter:
Spoiler

MC's childhood friend makes out with him while drunk at a festival, MC takes her home, lays her into bed, and she grabs onto his arm to take it further. He respectfully declines because she is drunk however, he tells her he also likes her and would be happy to accept an invitation when they are both sober....

[collapse]

Also, the magic elements are kind of a mess. The magic system is built on imagination which hints at absolutely anything being possible with enough magic power. Imagination based magic systems without extremely well thought out rules are absolutely terrible for written fantasy and this story goes a step further by having the MC use magic for things that any one would have come up.

Ultimately, I will likely come back and binge it once there is more material out. The translation speed seems pretty flakey and it's bound to get more interesting as the actually storyline grows more coherent and fleshed out. <<less

URGHH!! MOREEEE!!!!

The first part is nice, how the author developed the MC's personality as he cope with the events surrounding him: from his childhood to his adulthood to having two wives and kids. Though there some chapters in redundancy (like the "first time") it's actually nice to read and you can relate to what he's going through.

The second part is about the MC's suddenly acquisition of a territory and being proclaimed as the Demon Lord. The events are kinda slow-paced in my opinion but he shows how much surviving he... more>> has in regards to his "subordinates" inside the island.

Overall, it's fun and entertaining. Although a little slow-paced and some parts are rendered being fast-forwarded all of the sudden, this is a good read if you want something light and fluffy to tickle your emotions. <<less
