otome games. At first I was skeptical about this one since ofc as a male I don't really like any otome games nor series that use otome games as their targeted isekai (although I am fine with some other shoujo series). But I tried reading it and it was great. The series itself was amusing and not boring at all, kinda silly but funny MC, beautiful and like-able heroines, good story progressions, etc.

I think this is a good read, you should at least try reading it

There's a lot of interesting stuff there, but it seems haphazard - whatever's convenient for the story suddenly shows up out of nowhere for one scene then is seemingly forgotten by the author.

The protagonist's pretty weak-minded and spends a lot of time complaining and feeling bad for himself.

The setting has a lot of inconsistency, probably because the author makes everything up as he goes along and keeps forgetting things that happened a few chapters ago. Plotholes are everywhere.

Still, there aren't a ton of stories like it, so it's worth taking... more>> a look into as long as you don't think while reading novels. <<less

This is the one of the few isekai I have zero complaints about. It’s funny, silly, ridiculous and yet isn’t so off the trails that it isn’t unrealistic because there are deep reasons behind it all. The story is always on track despite the timeskips.

Although there is a harem... more>>
Spoiler

the situation is very clear unlike other stories- his girls got engaged to him in a hurry, which caused problems to show up in their relationship. There is also obvious trust issues, such as when his third girl showed up. They don’t understand each other well enough and their relationship is in fact shallow- hell, it’s suggested they like and trust each other way more than the MC. The author shows this all, and it’s amazing.

[collapse]

Also I love how the seemingly “mr perfect” male capture targets from Otome game actually have negative IQ.
Spoiler

This is actually because in the original game setting, Olivia- the main heroine of the story and game has the power to control people hence the strange IQ drop. However she has almost zero contact with them this timeline which is even more confusing.

[collapse]

If you kind of hate how other authors suddenly f*** up their isekai, feel slightly interested in a girl’s dating sim background, give this one a try, I think you’ll love it. <<less

How do I say this? The plot is good but the main character destroy it all.

How can he not think that world is NOW HIS REALITY

Characters are always love interest there love interest that, original story should be followed. The author didn't even include the fact that the characters already messed up the storyline (of the game).

... more>> The characters don't even have the thinking "Oh! It's reality it's not the game we shouldn't follow the storyline".

They always think that the love interest is the key to their problem even the mentioned love interest is the one that make light to your way to the bad end they will push it like id*ots.

And as a matter of fact the Olivia-Angelina Arc (v1-3) and Noelle (v4-6? I stop reading at 6 can't say it's done in v6) is just the same.

To summarize, the story got tr*shed because of the characters especially the MC. Dense is tolerable but adding indecisive to dense, it's just hell. <<less

One of the more entertaining WN to read (read the raw, not sure how far along it's been translated) but sadly the weaker parts stand out more due to other aspects being stronger as in how little there are actually interactions between the MC and the actual heroines once their arcs have been completed. You will literally know more about the five idiots and the little sister side characters than MC's relationship with anyone other than those six.

It gets a bit better near the end but then the author adds... more>> more and more and more characters to the pile, overshadowing the main ones once again and before you know it, it's the end. The plot itself is ok, again entertaining but also kinda feels shoujo-ish with how stuff could have been better dealt with if only they actually communicate and some moments feel like cheap drama for the sake of drama but they're pretty rare and don't get dragged out too long so ultimately it's still an enjoyable read till the end. I just wish some things were done better. <<less

A lot of plot points wouldn't be so frustrating to read if MC is not a typical good boy shounen protag. But this is a shounen novel so maybe its not wrong for him to act like it. Still is pretty frustrating to read if you're not used to the usual shounen trope.

I really enjoyed reading Mobu up until halfway of the Republic arc, because it just felt like everything went downhill from there. I recommend reading this up until Fanoss arc, then just imagine the story ended there.

Spoilers from this point on about the Republic arc.
    • The first half of the republic arc felt just like a rehash of the kingdom arc, where Leon (the MC) knocks some arrogant nobles off their high horse and saved the heroine. After that, Leon's character development hit a plateau and he became boring.
    • Lelia doesn't feel like a proper counter to Leon, rather she just feels annoying. A brat of an anti-hero wannabe.
    • And what the heck is up with the (sort of) NTR undertones between Angie & Livia and Leila & Serge? It felt like I was hit by a truck hauling 10 tons of cringe out of nowhere.
    • World building just become messier and confusing, sometimes to the point of not making sense already.
    • Because the cast got too many, some new characters' potential got wasted (Narcisse and Emile to note some).
    • The story wants to sell me the Great Tree as the real villain, but I never felt invested to that, and the characters that are positioned to be the villains are lackluster and doesn't feel threatening (I'm more threatened by the writer making Angie and Livia go full NTR on Leon) ;
    • The surface villains' (Pierre, Loic, and Serge) reason for being the villains can be boiled down to just this: they wanna get the girls' p*ssies.
There are many more that I would want to point out but I'll just leave it here. These are just my opinion but if you can ignore all these, you might enjoy reading. Otherwise, read only the Kingdom and Fanoss arc (volume 1-3) and imagine that the Republic arc never existed.

Old Review:

The fic starts off a bit shaky, then it gets rather interesting once he helps the Villainous. However, expect the MC to repeat the same line over and over again about how cruel the world/woman are. (It gets annoying fast.)

The great thing of this fic is that the MC actually out grows the beta MC mindset in Volume 3. He learns to actually kill his opponents, but sadly this guy still gives away all of his accomplishments. I honestly find it too annoying to read Volume 5 due... more>> to it literally being a rehash of the first trilogy of books.

Ex: MC goes to a new academy. People physically/mentally degrade him, he finds the protag and tries to correct the canon story line, however, he ends up in another duel for the big climax of the volume. This is not even entertaining since the exact same scenario happened in Volume 1.

I thought we were over the MC being walked on, but instead we are thrust into the same setting of him being degraded by every single person he meets. During which, the MC keeps on pretending that everything must follow canon and this situation of him being belittled is 'OK'. I'm concern our MC is a hardcore masochist.

However, in the very next chapter he destroys canon due to his beta ego. Where he goes on a CN face-slapping spree while wowing the audience in a public setting.

With all these problems, this novel is still a refreshing change in the Isekai genre.

Rate 3.4/5

Edit as of Volume 4:

This story took a nose dive. I feared this might occur so I held off on reading this... for two years, yet I came back in hopes I was wrong and mentally strong enough to read through this filth.

However, the amount of BS in this story got me in the end and I ended up dropping this for good.

The second school arc is beyond horrible, then there is the repeated punching bag scenario in which everyone and their dog participates just to orchestrate the cast for literally now reason beside for them being from a third rate country.

Which is in the top five s*upidest sht I've heard in a long while.

Anyway, the author has the sheer audacity to force the MC's airship to be taken away without a single complaint from the MC due to the plot being beyond coincidental idiotically. Why would the MC allow these mobs to hold his friends lives in their hands and be able to make a one sided arrangement which requires a duel to break the beheading curse upon them? IDK WHY! Couldn't the MC just orbital strike them to death and technically fulfill the this one sided clause? Its not like this foreign country is being very diplomatic at this point in time.

Sadly nonsensical and zero IQ is the name of the game. The MC will roll over to their demands... This is the kind of sht which makes me want to bash my head into the wall.

The MC's alpha card has been revoked for a few years at this point, but now he I have to issue him his Beta Card. RIP. Even with an AI the MC uses it solely to find the potential third SI.... Not for anything important like say: finding blackmail... crashing the school into bankruptcy, maybe breaking the curse ect.

Oh yeah, didn't I just mention there is yet another SI? Because his older sister isn't the only one with foreknowledge in this world now. So GG guys cause our MC's specialness has been diminished once again. Leaving one of the worst MCs I've read in a long while who doesn't even have anything of note to his name beside for being the biggest M to rival a certain blond in konosuba.

So the MC and co will then be forced to fight in a tournament style format because the sacred tree will behead them all if they don't. This wtf moment is simply ignored by the staff as the whole foreign nation/institute is more than happy to cause an international incident as there is literally no consequences for said actions. Its not like the MC has a weapon of mass destruction... or a FL with the power of love on their side. Instead we get plain old, forced story development. Where reasoning is thrown away for terrible writing skills which makes this borderline mtl quality work seem even worse the second time I came to this.

Anyway, Volume 4 is half exposition covering the first week of his new school which adds zero development, then a third is about the MC and co being publicly humiliated to hell and back with the last 1/6 consisting of a tournament fight scene.

So if you can handle zero plot progression, a masochist MC with zero EQ and illogical development, I recommend this. If not, then Id skip this whole volume. For I have lost all interest in this story all together.

I really like the settings for this story but the MC and poorly written romance makes me mad.

A lot of MC's plans only work cause of plot Armor and MC is a dumbass.

MC is the type to go save even his enemies even though he kinda hates them. Idk.

MC is basically a puppy who will come to play with you even of you chase it away.

Ah so annoying. I really hate the MC.

Well this is a time pass read if you shut off your brain.

The premise is good. I enjoyed the novel. But the MC is indecisive, he's nit a beta but he is acting like one. He is already very strong but he keeps calling himself a Mob (which means he is someone ordinary or sht). I think he has inferiority complex.. 4 star for the story, 2.5 star for writing quality, 1 star for MC's character.

I rate it 2.5 star overall

MC denser than osmium and indecisive. I refuse to believe the logic of an independent adult words weighed less than a college student whom still living with her parents. On top of that, it seems that the common sense of these people in this writings seems lacking, how did someone, who practically live on another place, having something peculiar in place of others? As expected of the writer of Evil Intergalactic empire, always playing with overly dramatic emotion shaking, it doesn't make sense, stirring emotion unnecessarily take me to wonder... more>> whether is this even a writing or just something to messed up with people, the frustration is not even worth the story because how dense the MC and how illogical the world building is. <<less

First act == SS (marie route) >>> 2nd act

It's fun to read at 1st act but 2nd act I realize all the plots are the same. Some sh*t happens> MC saves the day. It makes 2nd act feel very generic without any strong background. The story feels like It's just happened. Antagonists are just bad and dumb.

... more>> Also, there is no character development for MC it's kinda bugged me. Actually, He becomes worse even more indecisive and dense. Well, there still have some enjoyable moments and better than Isekai standard.

5 for Marie route the story process more complex than the original story which result feel much more enjoyable than ori. Cause and consequence feel real sh*t here. Maybe the author doesn't have to "play safe" Oh, Leon go save the day, get the girls. So JP fans don't go rage then burn the books and crucifixion him.

In summary, The ori feel much more worth reading so you can enjoy Marie route. <<less

This book is pretty good actually.

I'll keep this simple.

It's a Japenese dude that says as an excuse for anything and everything that happens "It's an Otome game", but that is not true.

... more>> At the same time, the author most of the time explains to you what is the real reason why things are like this or why something is happening.

Honestly, I dislike and sometimes hate how the MC always uses the excuse that "It's an Otome game", but I like that when it actually matters he puts in the effort when something happens (even though he could've prevented it way earlier), so 4/5 for giving me a good story of an ignorant dude that doesn't open his eyes until the last moment.

Edit: finished volume 5 I haven't seen any more releases of chapters so I guess this is the end. And I learned my lesson from reading and finishing this book, that if I ever see another book like this, I will burn it alive so that I and nobody else would have to read something like that.

tbh book was decent but I'm not going to hurt myself to read more of this kind of stuff if you wanna know why I have mixed feelings, read it yourself, I don't want to relive it again. <<less

Actual score is 3.5

There is some big problems, in that case, it's with the MC.

The MC who is at heart a good natured guy is fine in itself, and althought I would not call his schemes cunning, they are fairly well done and are good, the plot?for now it's kinda meh.

however his emotional status is bad, not bad in a way that "bruh the guy is facing problems it's bad"it's in the way that "why the hell are you even having these sort of problems?", the guy lived in that... more>> world for 10 years, experimenting the hardship of male members, however for now, it's clear that he's still treating the world as some sort of game, don't know what to do with his own feelings, and is somewhat of a coward and selfish guy who don't know what to do.

Come on, the guy has a stuck mentality of "I'm a mob, so I don't have the right to be standing with the protagonist, how foolish I was..." The way he is treating himself like a inferior guy, who just wants to be lazy, when he is in fact wanting to be with them is just plainly bad, he even is giving excuses to himself now.

also, there is some plot holes who are plainly bad.

Spoiler

like the cheat itself, how was he able to localizate it?he himself said that he localized the armor throught cordenates, but a thing like this would not be in a game, and even them, how was Olivia able to get it?since it apparently it kinda hates all of humanking for now.

also the way he goes about this is bad "i stole her cheat"seriously?

Why he did not get the item, since he did come to a dungeon with olivia?Marie even got it first, and was not nearly as overpowered as the MC was, using "i was hoping for a growth from these charms" or "bruh I was going to do it latter"is a s*upid reason.

[collapse]

Also as a reincarnated person, marie is too dumb, the consequences of her trying to do a reverse harem in a highly hierachal society while only being a low class should be obvious.

Talking about hierarchy, this is also one of the problems with the MC.

"ah I can't be with her, her noble ranking will be high and she is the protagonist"
"she is of a too high standing I can't be with her" said the guy who hit on the queen of the country, and himself said that he does not want to be involved with the country affair, but does so either way, while he is still sulking on his mentality of a loser

Man that does pisses me off, but at least I know that he will get better latter. <<less

It seemed good at first. Early on, it seemed like the MC had learned his lesson and decided to be a decisive character who took action. Nope. Immediately reverted back to a beta cookie cutter Japanese MC. A bit worse then normal actually. The MC is just a punching bag who goes along with the flow. The amount of s*upid crap he's put up with so far is absurd. When he could easily avoid 100% of it.

Its like this is a series of books written to intentionally try and frustrate... more>> its readers. Right off the bat he gets an OP spaceship that can do literally anything. Yet this entire series is just listening to him whine about the idiotic situations he's in, despite him not having to be in those situations at all. <<less

Entertaining and enjoyable.

I'm honest this novel have a lot and I mean a lot of bad things I can tr*sh up and complain about (isekai setting, OP MC, idiots side characters etc.) the list will be quite large but it has that something that makes me like this. As generic that this is you love it or hate it.

It will not surprise me when I see an adaptation to anime there is already a manga out there. I don't even like the genre of this novel or something near that... more>> but is just entertaining and I can count with one hand the times I laughed when reading a novel.

You could say that I'm biased and that's right. I find this enjoyable and seems to be that I'm not the only one with this kind of thoughts. <<less

At first, the novel was quite eye-catching since the title differs from what it offers inside (as I notice this from the translated manga, so I didnt know the premise).

It was promising at the first part, yet became boring afterwards within the 2nd part. I was going to drop this novel until I accidently read a comment stating that the 'ending is far than over'. Thus, I tried to give it another shot.

Interestingly, it became really good reaching the 3rd volume (as my principal is to read a novel for... more>> at least 3 volumes) and with the side stories (what if series) that brings to light an indepth explanation of what really happens when playing the game while controlling the main heroine "Olivia" (more details of the story of the otome game that Leon/Marie played in their previous life).

In the end, it is really enjoyable if you dont drop it in early volumes.

Note: Starting from V4 and upwards the novel has differences between the web and light novels. Since this novel was getting licensed so the translator for V4 and V5 had to delete his work to avoid DMCA. So it will be until 2021 or above if we want to get a Volume 6 translation.

Spoiler Alert!

Light Novel:

Leon is the heir of one of the Houses in the 2nd game, and also was the fiancee of the destroyed House,

Webnovel:

he doesnt belong to any House, thus he is a bit cynical and harsh to the 2nd Game MC.

LN: His treatment to 2nd game MC is more soft, doesnt really loves her at first (just a crush while sexually foolin around with her), doesnt name the doggo, 1st game fiancees doesnt agree yet with a third mistress, has Oneesan and Adopted Lil bro) etc.

WN: His treatment to 2nd MC is a bit more harsh yet falls in love with her, names the doggo given to her, since he has no Oneechan and relation to the Houses, his adopted brother is the 'Biological Son' of that House, fiancee agrees with political marriage with 2nd MC, more political struggle than the more harem-based LN version, etc. <<less

TL;DR: the first volume is around three or four stars, second onwards is just one or two.

The first volume is fun, but after that the author seems to stop giving a damn, the drama and conflicts feel completely forced. MC pretty much always has a way to solve his problems but doesn't until the author decides it's time. The author's concept of a villain is someone that's really annoying and dumb, but also has the power to bother the MC.

I've read until the third volume but I've been considering dropping... more>> this since early volume two when the author incites drama between a couple characters, the MC solves it, and then the author brings the drama back regardless of it being solved. MC also acts like a little kid even though he was supposed to be an adult before reincarnating. <<less
