i almost didn't bother with this because the first story is ABO and I really don't like that genre. The rest of the stories, however, were good and I'm glad I stuck with it past that first story. The worlds were all interesting (some more than others) and always had something a little different from the normal quick wear genres, adding a twist to make it seem fresh. One or two were stuck in there just for fluffs sake but that's OK, not every story has to be all about... more>> heavy drama, tragedy and the base human condition. The fluff lets the readers brain take a break now and then and just enjoy the warm fuzzies. There were only about nine worlds but in most of them the story was fairly long in comparison to some other quick wear novels and each world was completed with a comprehensible story line and and plot arc that didn't just peter out at the end. <<less

It’s not bad, I just got bored. The romance is barely focused on and the actual plot is kinda dull because a lot of it is cultivation/ wuxia.
Spoiler

Even the zombie arc is actually cultivation and not really zombies but demons 🙄

[collapse]

plus I can’t pin down the MC, his personality is pretty flat and his characterization is a bit confusing. Sometimes he’s shown as cunning, to the point of planning out everything from the beginning of a world. And then that was just dropped?? Like he doesn’t become dumb or anything but he’s not as smart anymore and it’s weird.
I don’t understand the extreme sympathy some reviewers have for the villains. I only felt bad for one but in the end his own choices led to his downfall. The MC and ML didn’t plot against him or anything.

Id recommend if only so y’all can form your own opinion

This is actually a pretty decent one. I personally don't agree with people who say that the story goes downhill.

Many may not like the fact that arcs are LONG. Except for the first one, all the next worlds occupy enough text space. The worlds are built on cliche settings but the care for the story fills with enough detal to dive into it. It has enough of description and twists to be interesting. I sometimes don't really like when the story looks like a draft and all the content are... more>> shared in two to three sentences. The introduction story is really short, while MC listens to all the wronged souls who have been wrongly accused, but later since he needs to change it everything goes into a totally different direction. I ended up liking this MC, since he cares and despite being OP and such he still feels righteous in his actions and quite cool. I may not have cried, but his dedication is really touching. For a change the development between MC and ML is different from other stories. MC at first doesn't know that he changed the fate of sons of fate, but later what comes first is their feelings and not always intimacy, for once he realizes that despite him knowing it's his man he doesn't jump him and ML doesn't fall head over heels at first glance and they do pa-pa-pa next chapter. Which for people who prefer this kind of development will be nice.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to how it'll go next. <<less

For once, an actually non-rapey love story between the ML and MC, and that alone (plus the very strong feelings between the two) is deserving of all the praise. Consent is life.

Long review and mashed up comment and guessing from me

This transmigration story is complex bcs some mix and match; MC is transmigrating bcs task from Underworld's Soul Purification Department (I'll abbreviated as USPD), it's doesn't sound like futuristic world, more like afterlife or heaven-hell theme. Also I'm in 3rd arc where, the apocalypse combined with some cultivation theme. Added with poetic wording of the author, it makes this novel more... complex.
For me this can be as complex as Game Loading. Let's see if the author will take the background... more>> story of USPD as intriguing as Game Loading or not. If not, that's okay too.

Arc 1 is lil bit confusing, vague, and more tragic when you imagining it on other view. Also get more complicated in my too imaginative mind..

Spoiler

XYT is actually has a feeling for Reiner (the client whose body taken by our MC, LH) but XYT is a bit late realizing his feeling, and disappointed with Reiner (ori). When XYT confess, original Reiner didnt get it in original plot, the one he confess is not Reiner but LH, stranger from another world. And Reiner never have a chance to confess too. ?

[collapse]

Unrelated-but-related-to-series opinion:
Spoiler

I always think about the original owner in this kind of story. They never have a chance to be as happy as body-snatcher does. And the one around them too, if they have partner whose together for a long time, it's sad if the partner never knows that their partner already replaced, the one they love is someone else. Except some series, like DPUBFTB

[collapse]

At some point, I started to thinking, what's the point of dying as important people, if the one who makes it is not you, the real you? What did these clients of USPD get, when they didn't even feel the fame or anything of their sacrifice bcs they are already dead? Just their soul purified? So they have no grievances? It's automatically gone after USPD correcting their path? If it's like that, the plot is too shallow... ok I'm thinking too much (-_-)

The confusing arc 1 makes it seems disconnected to arc 2...

Spoiler

For me it's bcs ML (XYT) in Arc 1 specially belong to Reiner than LH, since there's already something between XYT-Reiner in original plot. it's different with ML (SK) in Arc 2 because there is no relationship between client (Zheng) with ML in the original plot, and it's clear that LH (who got thrown to 100 years ago) is the one whose SK together with, also SK is from LH world too. Except... XYT when LH goes in is someone from LH world too...

[collapse]

So, for me it's 4.5/5, will change when this novel complete. <<less

The story is sooooo great !!! Even though it's currently in the 2nd arc, the story have great potential in it.

The story goes as MC was assigned tasks by the task assistant (system) and there are scores being given every time he finished a task. The MC wants to complete his tasks with high scores (if not perfect) as he is a bit of a perfectionist since from before he died.

Spoiler

The first arc is an ABO with the zerg setting (if you read FOD) and the MC is a beta. He is the childhood friend and adjutant of the world's ML (he is a superior) and the world's protagonist is a new member of their squad. Protagonist is an omega who conceal himself as a beta. Then stuff happen and ML is inlove with the MC and caused his overall score be changed from an A to 'pending'. Lol haha

[collapse]

Spoiler

Second arc is currently being translated, but the story goes as a demon king (mc) who wants to protect the demons and adopted a white demon rabbit (female lead/protag). The protag was caught by a cultivation sect and set a trap for MC but failed as he came prepared and suffers from an amnesia and was temporarily taken care of by a monk (ML)

[collapse]

The current arc is still being translated but from the last arc and the start of 2nd arc, I can really say that I highly recommend this one. This like a mixture of FOD and Heroic Death System. <<less

Chapter I'm up to: 38/

Personal rating: 2/5

I came expecting something amazing based on the ratings. However, this was quite a mediocre if not a bad read.

... more>> The initial premise sounded incredibly interesting - MC is a transmigrator tasked with alleviating the regrets of souls at the hell gates by transmigrating into their body in the past and creating a parallel path. However, the twist is that MC but must still die the same way as the original.

Unfortunately, the author info-dumps and overly simplifies characters (e.g. paints an antagonists as 'evil' just become) and then expects you to agree. MC and ML seem quite bland in personality. Arc 1 was decent, arc 2 was absolutely terrible with poor pacing and a plot that made no sense.

Arc 1 - my rating: 7/10

Strengths

  • Quite fun to read, contains some face-slapping
  • ML is shy and has liked MC since childhood
  • No confessions or romance in this arc, which was actually refreshing!
    Spoiler

MC literally dies before they get together, and the epilogue explores ML’s unrequited love and grief from perspective of a 3rd party which is cool.

    [collapse]
  • Arc is written from perspective of the body MC transmigrated into and not MC... The system never talks.
  • Plot: MC transmigrated as a cold lieutenant in an interstellar military squad combating enemy zergs.
    Spoiler

MC manages to foil the plans of conniving insiders who want to destroy the military squad and an omega. MC wins the heart of the squadron alpha leader (who always liked him since childhood) and then dies in heroic self sacrifice to destroy the zergs.

    [collapse]
Weaknesses

  • I find it really annoying when authors don’t explore their antagonists further and create an overly simplistic antagonist just to pit the protagonist against them.
  • There was no reason to paint the antagonist as evil. It looks like the author just expects you to hate the antagonist just because they are trying to win over the ML. In contrast, Perfect destiny (also QT) had the ‘daughter of fate’ as normal person and didn’t pit MC against them. It’s more interesting when the 'antagonist' and the transmigrator work together...
  • The antagonist's ending is disproportionately cruel. For what? For trying to win over ML and commit heroic deeds? I actually felt bad for the ‘antagonist’ omega.
    Spoiler

He hid his omega status and by doing so jeopardised military affairs but had intended the do heroic deeds. He is given one choice as punishment: 1. Lifetime of hard labour, or 2. Forced to keep birthing kids out...

    [collapse]
Arc 2 - personal rating: 2/10

  • This arc was a mess. MC is demon king supposedly betrayed by his foster daughter.
  • Initial beginning was info dump but was straightforward, but then the arc kept skipping sections and then it becomes SUPER DISJOINTED. The daughter was shoved aside and disappeared from the plot until at the end.
  • MC and ML are quite mild and bland in personality. There’s no definitive traits and you don’t see into their perspectives which makes it kinda boring.
  • Random tragic ending has no emotional impact. The arc's overall plot made little sense.
    Spoiler

At one point MC somehow travels back in time 100 years to meet ML. Then randomly returns back in time and forget some his memories. And then is attacked by the righteous humans and self-sacrifices to save the balance of the world in the ending. The extra did not make any sense either. Arc extra implied MC somehow returned to the world and lived thousands of years with ML. What?! Makes no sense. How does that work when MC is a transmigrator?

Arc 3 - Zombie Apocalypse (Cultivation Version) AU - I confess that I read this a little superficially because I'm a little tired of the Apocalypse novel because I recently read several, from my perception the plot was good it still has depth both in characters and in the story but it's not my favorite. The second arc remains the best so far.✅

Arco 4 - Medieval Magical Fantasy AU (Dragons, Goblins, Elves, Mages, Adventurers, etc.) - Here the MC is the Pope of the Church of the God of Light. It's pretty interesting, but still not as good as the second arc in my opinion. Of course, this may be merely why I currently prefer Asian setting over classic medieval fantasy.✅

While the first two are my favorite arcs so far, the story details and lack of free character bashing make this a favorite of mine in the genre of QT. Also I'm reading Hero Death System and so far this story has more depth. I recommend HDS for anyone who doesn't want to think too deeply about the plot and just enjoy. And this one for a bit more than concentration and emotion. I don't recommend reading both at the same time. I recommend reading HDS first to fully appreciate both stories. And if you want a quiet fluff break go read Accidental Mark😉.

Arc 5 - Cultivation AU - In progress. So far everything indicates that it will be another favorite of mine. I've loved this entire arc so far, the interactions between the CP are great, the plot setup is flowing beautifully and I'm looking forward for what comes next.

[collapse]

Note: (December 9, 2021) I read to the end of arc 4 and updated the comment regarding the arcs, all updates are marked for spoiler. It is also worth mentioning that the translation is magnificent. <<less

Actually, the story is really good and the first arc is my cup of tea which is it's so really interesting but there's still a lack of persuasion for the reader like me to be sad about the ending of that arc maybe if the author expands more how the MC died at that time I might really cry. I read the novel up until I finished the 2nd arc only, umm... the early chapter of the second arc is okay but the rest of the chapters is kinda messy... more>> (or maybe just my mind) but I still understand the story even though my eyes and my mind are not much clear. I was really planning to finish the full story of this novel when I'm only reading at the 1st arc because like I said it's really interesting but not until I finished the 2nd arc because you know the feeling when your mind is too playful and you are expecting something that is really too sad and tragic but when you finished it, it will not satisfy your feelings, It was like your sadness and your tears has become postponed and the result of that is kinda not good for your heart hehe. Btw, for the peeps who are reading this, all I can say is give it a try because it's good. We have different tastes and different feelings so this opinion of mine It's just really me who was not satisfied but it that doesn't mean that the story is not good. Well, you can base on my opinion before reading the novel or you can base on other's opinions because we are just reading this and just giving thoughts. <<less

I've re read this couple of times. Heck yeah its worth of time. Both MC and ML is likable and they were cute too. I also like the face slapping here (*´ω`*) it focused more on the mission and there are only few 'that' thing they do xD although the arcs are similar settings to other, it has its own charm. The ML isnt that overbearing, he's actually caring although he's possesive xD their interactions are sooo cute I swear. Im a fan of BE in every arc but HE... more>> in the end (I think im masochist now *sob*) so I love this one. <<less

MTL up to Chapter 156.

Quite readable. Plotline kept me guessing till the end of each arch.

The arch storyline seemed to mimick other quick transmigration novels, but really they're different and I can distinguish them apart. Well, aside from the over obsessive ML that always present in this type of novel, the mysteriousness of ML is very vague, and the protagonist is not an assertive person in the company as he's the newbie coworker at the bottom of the pyramid.

The system assistant gave very limited assistance to protagonist, most of the... more>> time it's just a story teller. So aside from ML, he doesn't really have any other golden finger. <<less

I really like this. The MC is rational but still relatable and human, not too OP. The ML, has different personalities in each world and it's a different yet familiar dynamic whenever they interact. He's also not too OP. And is thankfully not one of those 'don't care about your consent, you belong to me' MLs that make me roll my eyes hard.

The system not interfering in the tasks and only there minimally is actually a refreshing take. Because as fun as some system-host slapstick bickering scenes are, it doesn't... more>> seem necessary in a novel like this. The brief glimpses into the underworld behind the scenes is interesting also.

There's the face slap I love but also not to the point where it's exaggerated and within reason. The progression of the relationship between MC and ML as they traverse worlds is also evenly paced and neither slow or rushed. Just right, imo.

This might be one of my favorite world hop novels to date. <<less

A refreshing world hopping novel.

I was about to give it a 4 or 3 star considering it started weakly. The world building was mediocre and the flow of the story is rough. Sometimes it feels like I'm missing scenes.

However, after the second world start, as the chapter count grew, the story runs more smoothly and easier to read, so I give it 5 stars in light to the potential this novel holds.

The MC is lovable, he tries hard not to be OOC. He also asked his system in case he... more>> does something that will collapse the world, hilariously, the world doesn't collapse but he disrupt the thread of fate between the children of fate, lol.

The main lead so far are likeable as well. They are not too overpowered, not unreasonably dominant as well and for a change, isn't a yandere. It's a nicely balanced couple overall.

I enjoyed the story and can't wait to read more of their adventure. Shout out for the translator/ translation group for picking up this novel. <<less

One thing I find really unique about this novel is that the MC is either very strong or just as strong as the ML. I've read the first 3 arcs and each time the MC is just as strong as the ML. I like like it like that. This novel doesn't stick to cliche plot and doesn't stick to the idea that the MC is weaker than the ML because the ML always has to be OP or something.

Very good translation.

I really liked the first arc, but then everything went downhill from there. The second arc was confusing, way too much info given on each insignificant character which makes my eyes hurt from reading and thus lost interest. It turned into a generic transmigration story. Secondly I really liked MC´s personality in the first arc but in the latter 2 he started acting like a cute teenage boy, perhaps he was simply into the character but I really can´t stand those types.

the first arc could´ve honestly been a story for... more>> the whole novel. It was that good. And MC and ML´s opposite personalities was a great match. Really a shame <<less

Oh my kokoro!!! This novel is soooo good but it hurts sooo badly! ? I mean I know there'll be a HE in the end but I've only read 2 arcs and those two arcs have already made my heart bleed for the MC & ML. Especially, the second arc! ? (
Spoiler

Ch38 makes up for it though ;) since we get clues about the HE and ch 38 sort of seems like an epilogue for the whole novel.)

[collapse]

Well, after all that rant, let's come to the evaluation. The plot is a bit cliché in the beginning but the plot development is stable and intricately done. The plot development can sometimes seem even better than QWTFOD. The author did not develop the feelings of the 2 main characters haphazardly but in a slow, touching manner. I really can't wait for the next arcs. The translation is very good and doesn't have too many mistakes. If I had to nitpick, I'd say that I want to see more of our ML's thoughts and not just glimpses. Maybe we can see that in the future. I feel tempted to MTL the novel and maybe I will. So wait for an edit in that case! ^_^
