Neutral evil is perfect description for this MC

He will do anything if it can bring enough benefit, literally ANYTINHG

But he will not do something useless, like killing more than he need to kill or shooting himself in the feet by provoking somebody strong (I really hate this point in many novels)

So, there are not many spicy moments, because when our boy receive enough power to be independent from externel forces (it will happen quite fast) then there is no more tension, no threat. We will be able to... more>> methodically observe how plans of the hero are materialise into reality, regardless of the price for everyone else. We will be able to see the consequences of the actions of the protagonist through the eyes of many characters

If you are impressed by such a practical approach, then this novel is made for you <<less

He reincarnates into a rapist who was mu*dered by his classmates to defend his latest victim, and gets revenge on those heroes as if they were the ones in the wrong.

He had an ai chip in his past life that fused into his soul, but isn't physically in his brain anymore. The ai chip that isn't actually there can scan his surroundings without any sensors, predict the future in combat, analyze chemical composition of matter, learn anything instantly like the matrix, and many other op things even a real ai... more>> chip couldn't do.

He sees people's status in units of average humanity. So anyone average has a 1. 2 is twice average, 3 is 3 times average.

The story would be better if he didn't have any ai chip in his soul since that is s*upid as f*ck, didn't reincarnate into a life in progress but as a baby with a time skip, didn't have shitty knock off game mechanics, and just had him be a smart enough to do all his memorization and observation with his own powers instead. <<less

okay, I don't mind evil protagonists. I don't like them either. I do like how they manage to drill through conflict like a machine because of their strength of mind and cunning. That makes the story somewhat interesting.

so, this guy is apparently a scientist. What does make him a scientist you might ask? Well, nothing really. You'd expect a level of technical knowledge and a persona that is focused on study and experiments which eventually manages to conquer the world through sheer ingenuity. But he is just a guy who... more>> woke up with a deus ex machina omniscient chip inside his mind that has nothing to do with him being a scientist. So, he woke up as a shitty spoiled lecherous noble brat. The kind that we all love to hate stigma. To takes revenge on the guy that beat him up to death since he tried to mol*st the princess (which is much stronger than him).

the guy just beat the s*upid out of him. Then he woke up as a "scientist". He has no good qualities of his own except being a "scientist" and is just a shitty human being. I mean, how much of a piece of sh*t can the MC be? Yeah, I read one novel where the protagonist was a rapist bastard but at least it was somewhat decent. Although I didn't like him, I appreciated his brutal nature. But this one is just a terrible human being, bad from every viewpoint. He is not powerful (mindset) or smart. On top of it all he is a shitty noble, and the writing is bad. Why would you wanna read 1000 chapters of this shit?

Imagine a novel where the worst character in the story, the s*upid conceited one, the one that gets introduced just so the reader could hate him and the MC could beat him up like the little sh*t he is (aka joffrey from got [https://www. Youtube. Com/watch?v=AFER7zYoDlI]), is actually the MC himself - a reincarnated nobody with a sword art online kirito personality and a deus ex machina that doesn't even have any friends and is the worst human being in all of existence. Now, do you want to experience torture? <<less

Honestly, it is a 4/5 novel. While it is one of the first novels (cn) I read, there are many lacking points as well. I am rating it 5/5 because a lot of people have unjustly rated it low.

MC is cold, emotionless, yada yada. Not exactly evil but supremely selfish. Good and Evil do not matter. This also seems to be the principle behind the magus world - equivalent exchange. This is what is there in the novel. It's funny how it challenges the moral boundary of people, and the... more>> ratings have suffered because of this. The MC is a psyco and gets transmigrated into a world where he can thrive. A world where you can live eternally, have the strength to do anything you want. You don't need society, kinship and things like that. The same premise is used in Reverend Insanity but with better execution.

This is a great novel, one that should be read after one has shed all prejudices. Only then can one enjoy novels like these. It is a masterpiece in the sense that the author has managed to portray a story from the perspective of such an MC. This is outside one's comfort zone, both in terms of reading and writing. But just because it is out of the norm doesn't mean one should rate it low.

I would recommend this novel to everyone so that they can appreciate the point of view of a rational sociopath in a world filled with mystery, magic, and grey morality. <<less

I dropped it. Why? Well, MC is positioning himself as a cold blooded magus but he's more like a essence of chinese MC: he got no friends, no gf, no allies. Why? Well, he's cold blooded moron so yeah. He himself is a piece of sh*t with no respect to everything around him. If there's someone stronger then he just tries to imitate tree, if he can beat someone without taking responsibility, he'll do it because why f*cking not. If he cant take something, he'll try to break it, if... more>> he cant - he'll just piss on it or something like this. Well, lets not talk about him. Gigantism here manifested much more than in cultivation novels. Planet where small archipelago is bigger than f*cking earth? Yeah sure. MC turning into 20 f*ckING KILOMETERS LONG SNAKE is also a thing. Writing is good, story is good, MC is ret*rded. <<less

I like it... It has no funny business, perfectly logical.. the MC is kinda an ass but the earlier you accept it the better, it gets kinda boring but that's easily solved by the fact it's actually short... People wanted character development but wouldn't it be kinda weird if an old man started acting on his emotions like a child from nowhere... It's just that one thing disappointed me in this novel that was that it turned into a harem but that's just a preference of mine... The only fun... more>> service you'll get in this novel are just some jokes like when he killed a certain Noble that wanted to use him or shout for love and justice that's it..... If you want something about a hotblooded MC then stay as far away from this ad possible but if you need that Oasis away from the usual nonsense then read it. <<less

I gave it a 5, but it's actually closer to 4.7 because of the only flaw I saw in the novel, the weak ending. Okay, so I see that a lot of people don't like the MC being evil, and also that they dislike the AI chip for being OP or him not being a scientist. That's pretty much bullshit, because the OP is most definitely evil and it's been told to you since chapter one and the AI chip is used for scientific experiments constantly throughout the novel. These... more>> people are acting as though they've never heard of a scientist using calculators or computers.

So the review I'll leave is pretty short and simple; it's an amazing story, I would easily place it on my top 5. Brilliant plot and no repetitive crap. Brilliant characters. No s*upid frustrating "Do what's right" stuff. No plot armor since MCs pragmatism means he doesn't need it. All the side characters are actually important, staying relevant even after hundreds of chapters even if they've been left behind. Everything is brilliantly foreshadowed, and the plot is flawless.

The flaws -

The biggest is the rushed ending. They actually rushed the ending of this mind-blowingly complex novel spanning 1000+ chapters into 20 chapters. Pretty self explanatory. The author was pressured to finish and release the chapters so I don't blame him entirely. Although the ending makes sense, everything being foreshadowed, imagine that the author had plotted out a 100 chapter ending. Now, someone's told him to do it in 10. Yeah, all that content for 100 chapters was stuffed and not elaborated on in just 10 chapters.

The second flaw is there is no character progression, but it's not too important since the novel is very plot driven and the MC already has a suitable personality. <<less

This novel is not bad, but it is not a good fit for me...

  • The story is pretty dark. Good and innocent people die or suffer all the time, its a bit too depressing for my taste.
  • The MC is no hero, he is not a villain per say either, cause he is not out to do evil, but he does do bad things in pursuit of his own interests, such as letting people die who he could saved with very little effort, or out right killing innocent people because their death is somehow convenient for him. He has very little empathy. If I had to label him I'd call him a functioning sociopath.
  • Romance is lacking, which is to be expected since the MC's emotions do not run deep. However the MC does get laid a lot, just don't expect these relationship have any significant long lasting effect.
  • The MC, like any MC in this genre, has some item that makes him OP, in this case it is an A.I. chip that came with him from his original advanced world and merged with his soul when he was reincarnated. This thing does most of the heavy lifting for the MC and It is the one thing I consider to be bad about the novel, there are more thing I don't like, but I can see the appeal it might have for others, but the A.I. chip I just outright think is bad writing.
Ultimately I think this is a good novel. I can see why it is rated so highly, but it is just not a good fit for me. I don't particularly like MCs that have a hero complex and are out to save everyone they meet, and their pets, but in my opinion this MC is a bit too far in the opposite end of the spectrum and that too is not... more>> particularly enjoyable for me. I've read some spoilers and found out his future actions become an even darker shade of gray, so I lost interest and dropped it around chapter 200.

This is where I realized this novel was too depressing for me:
Spoiler

While travelling our MC runs into a little girl and an old man who are sharing a carriage with him and a few others. He can tell that they are on the run from something. The entire ride MC is thinking about how to get the girl's blood for some experiment, cause she has insignificant traces of warlock blood. Eventually they are attacked by the people chasing the old man and the girl. These bandits come and kill a few people, the rest run, and then is just the bandits, the old man, the little girl, and the MC. Our MC waits for the old man to be critically wounded before killing the bandits, and pretends to be a good guy by giving the old man a pain killer, when he had a means to cure him, but he didn't want to spend resources on the old man, and he thought it would be easier to get the girls blood if the old man wasn't around. MC promises the old man to bring the girl to her destination and lets him die. MC then proceeds to take the girl to her destination and draws her blood from time to time along the way. When they reach the destination the girl begs him to take him as an apprentice, which he refuses cause her warlock blood is too thin and training her would be too much trouble, which is fair, cant help her lack of talent. Turns out the person he was dropping her off with was clearly not expecting the girl, and was clearly reluctant to take her in, only doing so out of fear of the MC. The girl is described as feeling and looking like an abandoned puppy, but the MC then leaves and never thinks about it again. I get that he can't save everyone, and that profits matter to the MC, but I wish he had at least made sure the girl would be taken care off before he left, I mean after all he intentionally let the only living person that cared about her die so he could draw her blood more easily, which he could have done even with the old man around given how strong MC was in comparison, or he could have sent the girl to some loyal followers (like his former s*ave/lover Anna), or used mortal resources to ensure her safety, resources that mean nothing to him as a magus. You can argue that if the MC had done nothing the girl would have been r*ped and killed, but the ending of this interaction did not sit well with me and not many chapters later I dropped it

Minor spoilers (elements revealed in the first few chapters)

Warlock of the Magus World is in a special place amongst popular novels; even though it has very high reviews, if you ask a random reader if he liked it, there's a good chance he would reply something along the lines of "Meh, the MC just uses his chip every time.", "The MC is just too op.", "I already know how it's gonna end."

Those are valid points, and anyone who picks up WMW is bound to think this way at some... more>> point, and might drop it. But then, days, weeks, months or years later, you find yourself thinking about WMW, and many end up picking it back up. I am one of those people, and I dropped it and picked it back up 3 times before finishing it.

Why? My explanation may not be satisfying or even true, but so be it; there just is something incredibly attractive with this story. Yes, the MC could actually be the AI chip with how often its used, but isn't that fun? Yes, the MC always wins in the end, but isn't that cool? And even though you know he's gonna win, you never, ever, know how the MC is gonna do it, and that's the beauty of this novel and what drew me again and again to it.

Aside from that, every arc introduces a large amount of new concepts and systems, which although is still more of the same, it changes the flavor enough that you'll always be curious about it and want to know what's next.

I would recommend this novel to anyone, but especially for newcomers to the WuXia/XianXia/XuanHuan genres it is a good entry point, with not many hard-to-understand concepts, plenty of different arcs, and its 1200 chapters length which will keep you busy for a while.

PS : The beginning is very slow and has the most people dropping out, but the story really picks up at around chapter 120, so I encourage you to read up to there before you drop it. <<less

I really wanted to give this novel a chance, but it's just downgraded and copy pasted (WZ started way earlier) version of The Wizard World.

It feels like author intentionally wanted to make a worse version of WZ. He didn't try to introduce us to the world. We get to know that there are wizards in this world in the first chapter. While WZ tries to shape out and create our understanding of the world, it's workings and rules, Magus of the Warlock World doesn't think so.
Spoiler

Why would strong and "intelligent" direwolves that are counted in "hundreds" not win in seconds and force mages to react against humans that have only 9 people that are as strong as adult direwolf? Why would wizards give a flip about this region if it's told that it's a barren and useless? Why would they sent so many resources just to get a few so-so apprentices?

[collapse]

Pace is insane too. Author power uped MC in a mere month, and here I thought that MC in WZ was a bit too fast. Chip now is not a useful tool that helps MC grow faster. No, chip now IS main character.

Author forgot how humans should speak and thus half of the dialogues in his masterpiece feel awkward. Or outright useless.

If you enjoyed this novel, then you should try The Wizard World. You will understand what I'm talking about.

If you’re into evil protagonists, this story is for you. The tags are there for a reason, for those who don’t like this because of the things the MC does, please refer to the tags lol

I really enjoyed reading this, and although I did wish the protagonist would be a bit kinder at times, it would’ve obviously been out of character for him ? also the lack of annoying harem women is refreshing. So difficult to find good non-harem adventure stuff to read nowadays...

The world is really interesting, I loved... more>> the exploration of all the (very) different places the MC goes to. The power systems are also really fascinating. It’s very different, which gave me a similar feeling of uniqueness from reading Lord of Mysteries (but in a much much more evil and shameless way haha)

I’d say give it a try. ? <<less

I can promise that it has very clear plotholes very thick plot armors the author yaps too much he just rabbles on and on about every single thing and also contradicting everything yapping about superficial and very disappointing things the novel otself has its moments but they were most likely the boringest sht ever not fighting cuz you are the same just the most guillible of novels its very disappointing no one should read this endings messed up story hole and plot hole all over... more>> so uninspiring ot is so shitty

Im a forgiving man I gave this novel a read cuz I was too bored and lo and behold I read it and tbh it has to be the shittiest novel to have ever existed, reasons:

Has the shittiest yet and most disorganized yet storyline that I read it was not cool at all was so confusing <<less

Watch as the main character of the story A.I. Jokes aside, Although the story has a few faults, overall I really like the concept and it was a bit refreshing after all the never ending XianXia Sh*t that I have been reading.

I recommend you read it. One of the rare few light novels that I really liked. The ending was a bit rushed though as many people have already written.

This is straight up one of the best web novels out there. The first five arcs/books are all, in their own way, brilliant.

Do you like calculating main characters that aren't ruled by emotion and actually think things through?

Do you like an OPMC that's not (most of the time) ruled by plot armour?

... more>> Do you like awesome worlds with a surprisingly impressive plot?

Read this.

I can't see what the negative opinion of the MC is all about. Sure, he's an a**hole. So what? That's kind of the point.

He is truly a bad person, but he's also a damn good MC. I don't like the guy, doesn't mean I don't like the novel.

Just a heads up though, skip the last arc/book, it jumps the shark

First of all there aren't any scientists or any substantial scientific contents in this novel and the so called AI you might as well change to Google.

The MC isn't heartless but spineless. The MC got zero character development from the beginning to the end. The MC talk about being logical and emotionless but can't stop being arrogant, disdain about other especially the lower class. The MC is reeked of strong with the weak and meek with the strong and pretend that he above everyone else and that he is the... more>> only who got any brain. The MC can brag to be smart only because the author dumber down everyone to elevate the MC "calculating" mind. Also the MC view of women is boiled down to 2 the superior type that need to conquer by his "genius" and the meek and pure type to be by his side and obedient wife. Lol. Beta punk ass.

Also despite the talk on how only those with their own power is the only one who is smart and intelligence. Not like those Gods that is depends on faith to gain power. Bit*h your power is the same as them you just change the scale and type, ie the whole astral plane n human emotions/sin. The irony using human emotions as the path of your power despite talking about logic?Furthermore the major tactics he use to solve his problem is "hacking" the world will from purgatory world, shadow world to the ending. Same shit, same tactics

Lastly the ending was cringe worthy, overall the story and its world building was interesting but the MC and other character is about as interesting as watching paint dried. <<less

I really like this novel. The MC is calculative, smart, and isn't evil per se. He doesn't do bad things just to be bad. He does do experiments on people, but he does it to reach his goal--become the strongest. He would be like us if we ended up in a survival of the fittest world.

The MC doesn't help anyone if it causes problems for him. There are too many novels where the MC is s*upid and offends young disciples/apprentices in large clans without thinking of the consequences, in order... more>> to help innocent people and of course, beautiful women. If you are tired of that same trope, read this novel. Also, the MC doesn't offend those arrogant antagonists like most novels you and I have read. There is no harem which is great. I got tired of the beautiful females falling for the MC. The MC doesn't have any significant relationships with females except for s*xual needs.

I agree that the MC isn't really a scientist and relies on the AI chip most of the time, but the author does it quite well. It's not bad as some reviews have stated. The level system/cultivation is really simple and not overcomplicated. The MC is a loner. He's always by himself in his journeys like other novels such as RMJI and ISSH. These are the kinds of novels I like.

There are a couple of downsides in this novel. The last 200-300 chapters weren't as good. It was slow, and there was a lot of build up for the final battle with the upper beings, and it fell flat. I was expecting a grand battle with the MC, and it didn't turn out like what I expected. The ending of the novel was also not as good.

Overall, there aren't many novels out there like this. The last hundreds of chapter and towards the end wasn't done well, but the other parts were good. This is why I gave this a 4. <<less

TL;DR: The beginning is lots of fun, if you find it boring when he gets strong stop reading, it only gets better near the end but even then is for a short while and then we're back to space shattering and stuff until the end.

Four stars goes only until he becomes about magus 2 or whatever the ranks are called, after that it's only 3 stars and before/after the infiltration near the end it goes down to 2 stars. In other words, the stronger he becomes, the worse the story.
Spoiler

with infiltration I mean rebirth

[collapse]

Things to know before reading: 1. MC is a villain, but it's important to note that he's not much more evil than most MCs on cultivation stories, biggest difference is how he owns up to his evilness. 2. MC is definitely not a scientist, that's just a excuse for him to have a AI, to be a cold-hearted psycho as well as his thirst for power. 3. The story pretends to be about mages, "trust me guys this is totally a story about mages and stuff, totally different from those other s*upid chinese cultivation stories", but it's just a different take on cultivation stories and while it has many cliches, the way the author uses them tends to be quite refreshing. 4. Many characters will be ignored as the story progresses, as in, a friend of the MC when he was weak is simply set aside as he becomes stronger. This story does not give long-term importance to side characters at all, everything is focused on action, adventure and a little bit of drama and suspense (as in tension).

Now to what actually matters, the way MC is proactive is EXTREMELY REFRESHING!! In most novels, the MC is always reacting to things, while in this one the MC is the one forcing others to react. When MC is weak he hides and bides his time, when he's strong, he still takes it easy until the most opportune moment to strike and almost every success the MC achieves you feel he deserved it and feel happy and proud as if you're the one who did it, so it has some wish fulfillment going for it.

And now for the big baddie, THE POWER CREEP STUFF SUCKS TOO MUCH, the stronger the MC and his enemies get, the more boring the action. The author also builds up a certain spell or object to heaven and back but it always becomes mundane in a short amount of time. The author focuses too much on action, but because he keeps raising the ceiling you quickly grow insensitive to anything, this insensitivity together with how the action grows less and less grounded (if someone's house is going to be destroyed they will care a lot, if the world is about to explode that's too far from what our emotions can grasp and will feel fake) it becomes pretty much the worst parts of the story. The author should have kept things close to the perspective of a human being and the action short and cathartic.

Other than that I have to complain about the ultra-shallow/cliche stuff, like, if MC has a weapon it's a sword, if MC goes somewhere there has to be a enemy for him to fight, when MC kills someone their grandpa will come for revenge, there's endless amounts of spells and cultivation techniques but MC can't make them on his own, right after saying MC is a scientist he starts cultivating a breathing technique to strengthen the body as if isn't strange at all, the X potion recipe says it needs Y ingredient but MC can't just find the basic elements and reactions (like atoms and chemical reactions) since that would be too easy (and real). A story doesn't have to be real, but FEELING real makes it much more entertaining. Of course it doesn't happen 100% of the time and the author does some interesting stuff with some cliches but this kind of stuff still drags down the story for me.

Here's what I think the author could have done:
Spoiler

make MC unable to cultivate past a certain point or allow him to reach the peak sooner but he realizes there's still too much he doesn't understand and is not immortal yet so he has to reincarnate (without dying, or maybe even with) in another world (or even the same world, anything goes) when he's becoming too strong and do that again until the story is over, like this it solves the problem of godly fights being boring and allows for the adventure to continue until the author wishes for it to end.

[collapse]
Well, although it's easy to say it for me, I doubt the author could pull it off since it doesn't seem he's creative enough to think outside the box much, I mean, he still used the shitty level system every cultivation story has and the "the difference between level 3 and 4 is like the difference between the heaven and earth" that really drags the story down, he could just make it so ranks are divided by how much mp you have and MC could be able to compete with stronger people because he can improve a spells MP usage to the extreme or maybe not have ranks at all for f*ck's sake, just make different people be better at different things and the stronger people just know a lot about magic n stuff.

EDIT: almost forgot, THAT'S NOT HOW BLOODLINES WORK AT ALL C*NT, JUST CALL IT SOUL GENES OR SOME SH*T LIKE THAT YOU DUMB F*CK. Whew, you have no idea for how long that was in my system, much better. <<less

How do we make an isekai power fantasy new? Isekai in the isekai! Also known as, repeating something doesn't make it better.

In the interest of not letting my review be dominated by the anger driven notion that the last ~400 chapters wasted the first ~800, I've waited a good while to write this, so forgive me if I'm not horribly specific. This is a story that quickly becomes defined by three things: good world building, unbelievable luck, and repetition with small variation.

I felt this novel was really good for it's... more>> first long while, probably around a 4.5/5 or so. My one major complaint with the first several hundred chapters is with the AI chip, and the problems only grow from there. See, I do electron microscopy and you know what will always, 100% be needed for such equipment? A vacuum. The air has electrons and interacts with electrons. There is no way you can get anywhere near a good measurement through air, much less your skull. And it damages what it hits which, in this case, is your brain. Why would that be included? Then, apparently, the chip magically generates more storage and processing capacity when you become a stronger mage. Huh? How does raw magic manage that, it's not something he or another person familiar with technology directs, it just happens.... somehow? Other than that the world building and characters are pretty intriguing and Leylin manages to come off as an intriguing, hard-working character.

After the first several hundred chapters we enter a portion where he is in exile traveling. Also pretty good, and excellent world building. The only quip I have is that I had learned so much about other characters who were unceremoniously abandoned. This is a trend that repeats as Leylin is constantly pissing people off for a quick power boost so he has to abandon his life. Then he runs and hides and 'cultivates, ' in later arcs (or sometimes the same one) he returns to whoever he jilted to finish them off. It also becomes apparent in this part that Leylin is mostly just interested in butchering anyone who will net him a net gain. Whereas I had some hope that a future science man would bring some measure of good to the world, I am completely disillusioned at this point. He no longer needs to worry about survival so his continued application of the pattern is just because he is interested in power at any cost. Not necessarily bad as it hasn't repeated too much, so 4.25-4.5/5

He has to flee again and his escape plus virtually everything else from here just gets repetitive and starts feel like luck is his true gift. I enjoyed the underground arc, but seriously things were feeling tedious and the build up and betrayal of a set of characters literally felt like he was farming children. He managed to establish himself and had a good future laid out but, no surprise, first chance he gets he gambles it away and, surprise surprise, his gamble paid off. Because heck, all his major gambles pay off. 4.25/5

I believe this is now the major arc of the story but at this point a lot of things started going wrong. The whole "pick a fight with someone strong to get an edge, hide then come back after an ungodly powerup (courtesy of unscientific AI chip) and kill them for even more gain" started just being a drag. The AI chip is now so far beyond a slight advantage it isn't even fun anymore. There is some good worldbuilding and some good characters we finally get to settle in with, but his luck, the AI chip and the formula just start to drag. Biggest complaint: hard level cap is, of course, not the hard level cap for Leylin! Multiple times, in fact..... Also harem....I hate how every isekai needs a harem. There are actually several arcs I'm abridging here but it just sucks. Generously 3/5

Finally We are ready for the absolute insanity that is "now we need to isekai again." Oh look, you were born into ANOTHER noble family! RAAARRGHH. Whatever, he is a 'genius.' Anyway, prepare for more of 'the formula' for getting stronger from level 1, again, but with a new magic system and new characters who don't matter! Finally, betray everyone and two planets to become so broken you can consume the multiverse!

TL/DR Anyway, I would recommend reading the first 500 or so chapters and get to where he finishes the underground arc and maybe just stay there. There was a lot of promise here but it's so formulaic it hurts and the protagonist is so frickin lucky it just stops being impressive and just starts wearing you down. <<less

Arcs become extremely repetitive, MC is a edgelord douchebag for the sake of being an edgelord douchebag, women exist to fawn over the MC and have his babies, writing is terrible in general, a.i. Is boring dues ex machina for cultivation. He's not intelligent, this is a fake world of authorial convenience so that quality doesn't exist anyway. What a f*cking wast of time.
