With neither relatives nor a home, Xiaodong became a disciple of Returnflow Mountain. In his dreams, he would often see certain people and events. What was most surprising was that many of the things he dreamed of were exactly the same as those that had really happened. However, he never once experienced these events himself, so how could he dream of them?

Yet, some things were completely opposite from reality. Like Eldest Senior Brother. He is clearly such a great person, yet in Xiaodong’s dreams, he became a vile human who killed people as if they were flies. No, to begin with, he might not even be human.

This novel feels like a first chapter of an epic saga. It tells the story of the two main characters' (Xiaodong & Mo Chen) life as a disciple of Returnflow Mountain, where they cultivate, battles demons, destroyed cities, and uncovered secrets about their own heritage. The story is really interesting with many twist and turns, and the ensemble characters are quite interesting in their own way.

It just.. There's barely any explicit romance between the mains? There are explicit romance about the side characters, but for the main characters, if there's... more>> no shounen ai tag in the story, it feels that the relationship between the two can be read as a brotherhood between two disciples.

Overall, its a nice story to burn time, 4/5 stars. <<less

This is really my cup of tea. Every character in there has personalities. I dont understand how people actually been sleeping on this. I just hope that someone will continue translating this ❤️

Rating: 4/5 (may change with more chapters)

So far (ch 10) this story focuses more on character interaction than exciting events; this alone makes it stand out among cultivation novels. It gives the vibes of a pathfinding/coming-of-age story instead of the more typical themes such as romance or becoming the strongest.

The MC (Xiaodong) is the newest of a handful of disciples on Returnflow Mountain. His senior brothers and sister look out for him, especially eldest senior brother after their first meeting. There's enough going on to keep my interest without... more>> it relying on cliched situations and high-excitement conflict. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the clairvoyant dreams mentioned in the description. <<less

Slow start, but heartwarming enough. Translation is a bit rough.

As for the story- The MC is an orphan once raised by his uncle and taught how to wield a saber, but the uncle died and he was taken in by a mysterious Martial artist who is teaching him the art of swords. One day, he gets Deathly ill, and the master leaves, but the oldest disciple returns. At the same Time, the MC is starting to have strange dreams about the past and maybe the future.

This is a very slow... more>> burning novel, so don't be impatient. It seems more focused on building the relationship between characters than getting to anything flashy, but there are hints of that to come (Like talk about the master teaching them how to manipulate their energy to withstand the cold). <<less

This is so beautiful written. I really like how everything is described. I don't know why but it makes me very calm. The fact that I don!t like is that the time passes way to slow. The love is super slow-burn.

Spoiler

Already ch 54 and MC is still 11 years old. This way it became somewhat boring.

Very interesting. That said, although I've read 74 chapters, it still feels like the "main action" hasn't started yet so I'm being optimistic with my current rating.

I really like the author's portrayals of characters. They're all distinct and have a sense of realism. Even unimportant side characters, like Elder Lu, are skillfully used for worldbuilding. In particular, the author actually wrote MC as that young age. It's not to say the writing is bad or MC is foolish, but rather the thinking is quite simple.

Based on what I've currently read,... more>> although the synopsis seems like it'll be similar to Who Dares Slander My Senior Brother, the actual storyline isn't like that. The senior brother here, so far at least, is indeed upright and outstanding, although there's many mysteries about him. We haven't gotten to where MC's dreams "are wrong", which is also one of the reasons I say it feels like the main plot hasn't started.

The story itself is actually pretty slice of life, partially owing to the fact that MC is young and learning. So far, it's his life in the sect, and a slow unveiling of the mysteries around him.

I really like the story so far. Hope someone will pick this up! <<less

I really like the different take on the cultivation world. Instead of the usual plot of reviving the sect, gaining further glory, and reaching heaven and beyond, we explore a world filled with the aftermath of declined sects and declining sects. How people of the cultivation world deal with life afterwards. The ending felt a tad bit rushed because the author started tying up a LOT of things, but I still like it. The final takeaway was that there are future adventures, but just that the reader won't be able... more>> to read more of them. Kind of like the Disney cartoon, Amphibia RIP. I feel like this story took on a slice of cultivation life plot which is way different from the other cultivation novels I've read.

Of course it's shonen-ai so the relationship is only implied, hinted at not explored upon. So don't read if you were looking for action or confirmation.
Spoiler

I will say that some of the summary is misleading, "He is clearly such a great person, yet in Xiaodong's dreams, he became a vile human who killed people as if they were flies. No, to begin with, he might not even be human." The author doesn't really show any sus behavior from the Senior eldest brother. Maybe they just wanted to hint that he's a powerful dangerous dragon that has killed before?

Slow paced but well written.. The character development is actually good.. I like the fact that the protagonist or his senior brother isn't omnipotent.. The characters are growing up bit by bit..

I always feel very uncomfortable and sometimes even horrified when an adult harbours romantic feelings for a little kid, who is not even a teenager, mostly in rebirth or transmigration shoujo romance stories.. So it's truly great that the ML here only thinks of the 11/ 12 years old protagonist just as a little brother..

It's been so long since... more>> there's any update.. I'm afraid it might be dropped.. Since I don't know how it'll progress, I'll give it a 4.5/ 5 for now.. <<less
