First off, monetary system: why does every Japanese novel insist on telling us how much the lowest New World denomination is in comparison to Old World denomination.

Second, is the over-use of "somehow, I did this/that". It just gets annoying and as you can see I'm currently only on chapter 2!

The above mentioned points happen so bloody often in Japanese novels that I just automatically turn away from them, even if I think 'ya never know this one might be different' its not, and for me personally that's a let down.

It's difficult to say anything that hasn't been said already. In it's basic form this is an I've been summoned to a different world and there I make a Harem. In a less basic way this is not Hello p*rn nor is this When will something happen. It starts of mainly as Slice of Life with still a nice pace to it in story and relationship progression. Right now at the end of Vol. 2 it seems like vol. 3 will be going moe in the direction of danger and... more>> adventure. Hopefully this will not lead to a total disregard for pace. <<less

Update as of Volume 4 Chapter 16: The grammar is really rough, almost seems like there is no editor/proofreader. The word flow stutters about in almost every single sentence. Conversations feel forced, and characters feel like they are all side-lined at the moment. Marked drop in story quality for the last few chapters, possibly just due to translation being slightly lack-luster.

Starts out a bit rough... don't let that fool you. The writer, translator, editor, and proofreader do a great job at making you grow attached to the characters. You really... more>> start to feel like they are real and despite some character flaws, they are people you want to be okay. When something happens you feel sick to your stomach and end up getting chills thinking they might die and that would be the last you'll see of them. Not exactly an emotional roller coaster, but still something you will get invested in. The grammar and phrasing is well done on the part of the translation teams, for the most part. There will be some awkward phrasing and the occasional misplaced word, but over all it's done well enough to just breeze through it without getting stuck on it like most other translated novels. <<less

I think everything you need to know comes from the fact that reviews before Dec 2016 are favorable and after that they fall off. This story started with a lot of promise. The MC struggles to grow and, even if I dislike harem tropes, the interactions with the girls were fairly well done. After a while, though, the growth started feeling cheaper and, as he starts leveling he girls as well, they quickly become incredibly OP. Though they are not peak of the world yet it has been less than... more>> a year and there is no doubt they won’t need the full 20 years to reach unworldly strength. That and after marriage the relationships stop developing and the story just starts to drag in almost every aspect. If you really like the OP isekai+harem format you’ll likely enjoy this series but even then it isn’t remarkable after the first 2 books. <<less

Hmm... Yeah, where to start... Overall I like the concept, to some extent. I found it to be a pretty interesting read, but it feels quite shallow at many points. The comedy made me laugh a few times, but most of the times it feels like the author doesn't know how to make something funny. Like when he got beat up by a wild rabbit, the author has that as some kind of a running "gag" throughout the series. Everyone is extremely amused by the fact that he lost in... more>> a 1v1 fight against a rabbit, but I just don't find it to be funny at all when the author is trying to use that to make the readers laugh. First of all, rabbits are scary creatures with sharp, pointy teeth that can only be killed with a holy handgrenade, everyone knows that. Second, what the characters fail to notice or mention is how he, as a total newbie, killed of around 21 rabbits, they kept coming and at the last few rabbits he was so exhausted he could barely lift a finger, so he came to a draw with the last rabbit to arrive and fainted. The amount of rabbits killed were registered on the guild card, yet everyone, including the MC, acts as if he got to a draw with it while having 100% of his stamina left, even when he explained about the rabbit thing to his wives later on, he doesn't mention that there were 20+ rabbits and it's as if he, himself, forgot that it was perfectly justified and not really weird at all that he lost against 20+ mutated super rabbits big as dogs when he was just a weak newbie that just picked up a sword for the first time and never trained in anything. Well, there's a lot of examples like this where the author fails to make people laugh even though you can see he tried to be silly in the novel, that really disappointed me, because I came here for the supposed comedy.

Now, about the rest of the story. Yeah... It's a slice of life, a bit too much. I don't feel like he's truly trying to get stronger, at all. He does say he wants to get stronger, blah blah, but he never really puts it into practice and trains like a madman. He's pretty much extremely unskilled in both scheming up traps or strategies, his close combat skills are also horrible, even though he's got cheats that give him extremely huge advantages in stuff like that. He acts like a fool all the time when it comes to combat. By v4c10 that I've read to (the latest released translated chapter at this time), he just kept getting his ass handed to him all the time while building up a trauma or two and just being a general wimp. After more than four volumes, he can barely beat some B rank adventurer girl that likely has a way lower level than him, he gets beat to a pulp easily by the instructor or anyone remotely strong, he has also almost died at least five times in s*upid ways, like getting beat up by a rabbit, almost getting killed by a big boar, almost getting killed by a dragon, and then the two parts I hated the most, getting saved by some guys while almost getting killed by a few small harpies and then almost getting killed by an orc king only to be saved by his wife. Everyone seems to level up much faster than him and be much more skilled than him in his party. The s*ave (now released and is one of his four wives) are now a few levels higher than him and is probably way more powerful, even though she started out later on and is much younger than him, the other three wives can't be said to be much stronger, but they're close to his level already even after starting out EVEN later. This is the case even though he's got even more cheats than they do by associating with him. He keeps being unmotivated and undetermined and can't decide on stuff properly. It's pretty cringeworthy how timid he is, if we consider that he's supposed to be the MC.

I feel like 3/5 is pretty justified, not bad enough to drop but not awesome enough to feel absorbed, thrilled or REALLY liking the characters, a lot of flaws but nothing truly dealbreaking. I feel it was a pretty good read, it's not unreadable, the romance is somewhat interesting and I like many of the characters. It's worth reading, but I don't find it extremely good. If you go into this, make sure that you don't expect a strong MC that no one else can truly match up to, because that will not happen. Perhaps later on he will become one of the strongest, but his wives will likely still be stronger than him, or at least as strong, thanks to the cheat where he can upgrade his comrades that has enough loyalty. Don't expect a lot of adventures and thrilling action, that will not happen either. Don't believe that just because the world will end 20 years later, he will act like it and try to do something about it and become stronger, perhaps that will happen later on, but as of volume four it's still a good bit off. Just go into this expecting a slice of life novel about the small-scale adventures of the no-balls (half a pair later on?) hero (?) harem party and their exploits. There's no real drama or thrill, there's a lot of whining and foolishness, but it's quite light-hearted and satisfying to read. I guess this is pretty much what would happen if we send a fairly normal adult human (23 I think?) into another world where he gets some cheats, a pretty timid one with no aspiration to truly become stronger.

I liked it to some extent, but this is certainly not a novel that is worth re-reading later on. Good way to kill some time. <<less

A timid and shy person with cheat abilities given by god and always misunderstood his action to greatness, that's your typical reincarnation JP MC character type.

I like the plot of the story at the first 3 volumes but as the story went by, the story are more focusing in the harem part than the character development.

As for the volume 4-5 the plot of the story are pretty common now, and more focused in the harem part, because of this I need to drop it now.

I'm really annoyed at the part... more>> that, the secret that they want to keep is, they always blabbering it to the high officials and to the others, that's so annoying so I'm dropping this off now. <<less

This is one of the well written web/light novel.

The story world building and development is nice right off the bat.

A good read and good enough to binge.

Caution, the translators have stopped regular updates so once you finish volume 6, it is probably the end for you unless you can read Japanese and buys the novel.

Don't bother to look up other translations as they are tr*sh and will confuse you more often than not.

There's not much loss though, since ... more>>
Spoiler

the story does quality does takes a nose dive starting the tournament Arc and it only gets worse from there. It feels like the author is hitting a block and are just trying to power through it.

The concept where you would need to "master" your skill level which is nice at first is starting cause the author to stumble around the it by relying on the old power inflation trope which not only messes up the power heirachy of existing previous characters and creatures.

The story also become more nonsensical where the OP goes to learn sword fighting from the world strongest sword Saint but have to go through a trial first by fighting a gauntlet of sword fighters using are allowed to use magic.

In fact that author realizes this by poking fun on himself by way of Masaru's monologue.

I'm still hoping that the author pulls himself together and manage to get through the block and improves the quality of the story again.

The quality of writing is too low for my standards but it's enough for a standard wish fulfillment isekai. At least the MC has the balls to have s*x with his partner and gets married so I'll give the author props for that but the MC still has no backbone most of the time. Very standard in terms of storytelling and relationship debelopment.

Slow to an exasperating extreme. Although the plot and development speed at the beginning was acceptable, by volume 2 chapter 7 seems to have turned into stagnant routines of regular every day activities without a major development nor unexpected twists that could entice the reader to keep fervently reading, including the s*x activity of the MC within his harem. Now, as in reference to famous novels, books or any other literature masterpiece, up to Vol.2 Ch.7 is impossible for any average web novel to develop the whole plot, but for... more>> whatever god you believe in sakes, not even a small hint of why the MC & company should thrive on..!?! <<less

A bit unusual from the overpowered summoned hero protagonists you usually find. The main guy, Masaru, is your average Japanese NEET who decided to one day, find a job for himself. He ends up being teleported to another world and he was told that that world will end up being destroyed 20 years from now.

Masaru, while his growth level is definitely faster than the others, still encounters difficult obstacles on his adventurer's life. He gets scared of dying, he gets beat up by monsters at times, but he definitely grows... more>> with all these experiences. While it can be pathetic sometimes, it's not entirely a bad thing. So, there's definitely character progress in this story.

There's also fast development in the romance front compared to other isekai titles and he eventually gets

4 wives later on.

[collapse]

It's a good story if you don't mind the protagonist occasionally being beaten by monsters and out shined by the others in his party, because they're definitely growing with all these experiences - level and knowledge wise.

I only have 2 problems in this series so far:

    1. Ellie can be annoying at times. She's a sweet girl deep down but geez. I guess that's a noble lady for you.
    2. It can actually get annoying when he gets beat up by monsters. He's getting strong but it's still a bit annoying hahaha.
Other than that, it's a good read if you want character development, good romance, and other world adventures. <<less

Overall Very entertaining story. Cute and fluffy character tropes. Self aware yet negative MC which is exponentially better than a Dense MC. However, MC feels like someone who has very little going on upstairs.

Spoiler

He discovers day x that he can learn passive abilities through actual training and yet.. He constantly belittles fundamentals and focuses on the desired end result. Of course he can't handle scary situations as a result, zero thinking just reacting behavior. OH! I'm not as strong as the trainer even though my stats and my skills are stronger? No way is this because of my fundamentals and no way will it impact me in the future!

[collapse]

If you can read it without wanting to pick his decisions apart it's a very good story. Filled with fluffiness and sweetness, a bit similar to Mushoku Tensei's Rudeus.

Although it's cliche, it started good. Typical Japanese MC transported to another world. The only advantage he got was the ability to level up and acquire skill easily. Even if he can get skills by spending skill points, he still needs to train and practice them... not unlike those other novels where the MC would just "wow, information just went to my brain and I feel like I've trained and using this for years now". It's fun to read about his adventure in the grassland and the border of the... more>> forest where he hunts rabbits and sometimes orcs. He's not impulsive and always careful because he grew up not knowing violence. Then the author presented an event where the MC is forced in a situation where he is one step from death. +Plot armor and he's saved. He became afraid and realized that life in that world are fragile, and he can die any moment. Some event happened and he overcame his fears.

He became stronger and grew as a person... Not.

Bloody hell, MC's character developed alright, just backwards. Anyone with a brain can think that the only solution in this situation is to train and level up, become stronger. But MC just went to the forest 2 times a week for 2-3 hours at most. What the hell? 2 times a week is barely passable but they would just leisurely stroll in the forest, go back at noon and the MC would say "Hmmm... only a spider and an orc, no wonder we didn't level up." Rest of the week is just MC lazing around and f*cking his girls.

Then MC along with the other adventurers were then conscripted because a fortress at the frontline is under attack by a monster horde. One will think, "hell yeah, more monsters=more exp. MC will finally start to grind". But no, he's stuck in the rear healing mobs and when he's out of mana and came to frontline, his superior just said "You're a healer. Go back to the rear and start healing". MC, just like a pu*sy that he is, went back saying "I respect Sergeant that is why I must obey him", and started to drink with the bishop.

Crux of the matter is that MC knows that he is weak and need to get stronger but all the thing he's done is half-assed, no, quarter-assed. Not even a millimeter of effort was given but he would spout hero-like lines like "I would protect you" when the one he's protecting is stronger than him. <<less

Seriously the most generic start ever. Wake up in new world.... fight rabbits, join guild, human lie detector test, inn scene, explore city scene, meet heroine and then rinse and repeat.

Main thing to take away,

Its a LitRPG Novel. If you ever read one, then you know exactly what you're getting into. Number crunching, stat screens, not very special powers to make MC stand out and a typical power creep to keep the MC weak.

There isn't anything that has been done different and I doubt I'll be able to get... more>> to the more 'original' parts of the story. Sadly, well I don't honestly care, the novel isn't a great attention grabber. I have skipped chapters and very little happens or I'm able to fill in the blanks due to prior reads.

There's nothing extraordinary about this novel, just a guy learning about life in a fantasy world while going on adventures with his wives in search for a comfortable life.

I like the deadline of 20 years which naturally drives the plot forward without compromising the MC's priorities or character and I also appreciate the author not hesitating to drive the harem plot forward almost immediately without the whole "dense protagonist" act.

Volumes 1 through 6: 4 stars
Volume 7: 2.5 stars

The author made a mistake giving the main character a full twenty years to save the world and also giving him accelerated growth. It probably sounded like a good idea at first, but by the end of the sixth volume the hero party has powered up to the point where in a normal story the endgame would begin, but only like a year or two has gone by in the story.

At this point the author's best option would be to let... more>> them settle down and raise some kids, then time skip 18 years into the future to show their kids taking up the quest. <<less

This is a slow-paced story. You will only get character developments started from vol 2, so I can understand why many people dropped this novel.

Even though he got cheat skills, he was living as a NEET before and I must say... so far, his attitude is truly befitting a NEET (lol). But he's slowly coming out from his cocoon, thanks to those kind girls (harem) and his environment.

Despite his cheats, this MC feels so 'human' compared to many isekai novels out there. I like it. The minus point is the... more>> story often bore you, that's why you should only read it when you feel relaxed and have nothing else to do. <<less

I've read this WN from the start to now, however I can't help but think that this WN's quality is just normal..

The plus of this novel is that the protagonist is not an OP, although has cheat ability. And he's steadily getting stronger and stronger.

The story is easy going like Death March, but for some reason the quality felt a bit inferior. A bit lacking. Maybe because the protagonist is just way too normal. The situation surrounding him is not though.

I love the scene where the protagonist struggled so hard... more>> the most. <<less
